I had a very disappointing experience with this Urgent Care and hope management takes patient concerns more seriously. I visited on June 20, 2026, specifically to have both ears cleaned, as I have a medical condition that requires earwax removal approximately every six months. I explained this to Dr. Mendoza and specifically requested that both ears be cleaned. However, she only cleaned my right ear and insisted there was no wax in my left ear, despite my concerns. The very next day, my left ear became plugged and my hearing was muffled. I called the office, and Veronica told me I could return to be seen by another provider. She specifically assured me that if wax was found and removed, I would not be charged or have my insurance billed, and that I would only be charged if a lavage was performed. When I returned on June 22, another physician found earwax in my left ear and removed it with an instrument--not a lavage. This confirmed that my original concern was valid and that wax had been present all along. Despite the assurance I was given, my insurance was billed and I was charged another copay. When I contacted Veronica about the unexpected charge, she changed the explanation and said I was billed because the physician discussed another medical issue and provided a lab slip. That directly contradicted what I had been told before returning. I did not request evaluation of any other condition, and any discussion about prior medical history was initiated by the provider--not by me. To make matters worse, I found errors in my medical record, including my height being documented incorrectly, which resulted in an inaccurate BMI classification. When I asked about correcting the record, I was simply told to submit the correction myself through MyChart instead of the office taking responsibility. Throughout this process, I found Veronica to be dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. Most importantly, this entire situation could have been avoided if my original request to clean both ears had been addressed during my first visit. The second physician confirmed that earwax was indeed present in the ear that was left untreated. I hope the clinic reviews both its billing practices and how patient concerns are handled. Patients should be able to trust the information they're given and expect complete, accurate care without having to return because their initial treatment was incomplete. read more

I brought my daughter in as a walk-in patient and was told upfront there would be a 2-3 hour wait, which I understood. I completed all required paperwork and provided correct contact information. After waiting over two hours, I went back inside to check on the status and was told they had called the listed number multiple times and left a voicemail. I repeatedly explained that no calls or voicemails were received on my daughter's phone, but the front desk staff continued to argue with me and insisted they had contacted us. To make sure my daughter could be seen elsewhere, I called a primary care physician to schedule an appointment, even though my daughter had never been seen by that office before. They were able to pull up her chart that had recently been created by Doctors on Duty. When they read back the phone number on file, I discovered that the front desk staff had entered an incorrect phone number. I then called the number that had been incorrectly entered, and the line was not even a working number. This confirmed that no voicemail could have been left. Despite this, the front desk staff continued to insist that they had called and left voicemails, which was extremely frustrating and dishonest. After going to the back to speak to the manager, the staff member returned and told me the only option was to wait an additional two hours keep in mind we've already waited two hours and my daughter was actively throwing up in the car. I understand that walk-ins involve long waits, but the lack of accountability, communication, and compassion from the front desk staff made this experience unacceptable. This situation could have been handled far more professionally and with basic empathy. In my opinion the lack of professionalism and poor communication from the front desk staff suggests a need for retraining or better coaching on patient interactions. read more

Where do I start, if I could give a zero I would have. The 2 young girls at the front desk should not work at an urgent care center, maybe somewhere they can giggle and have their own conversations while on duty. I arrived 5 minutes before they opened at 8:00 am I checked in, told 1 hour and 30 min wait, fine. I sat in my car with phone in hand for 1 1/2 hours. My phone was not on silent mode. I went in and both girls looked at me with a smile and said we called you three times and voice message you. The calls did not ring though, for whatever reason! I ask if I had to wait and was told to sit down! After over an hour wait in front office I was call back. Very nice NP ordered different tests and all came back negative and called in cough syrup! I had such an exceptional visit with a great team led by Shayna Hampton, Provider and Samantha Rios, M.A. that met if not exceeded my expectations given that all of my lab work needed to be updated from a previous visit to other DOD locations in Marina and Monterey. She was able to quickly assess what was affecting my current situation and explained everything and the follow up's she would do to pull together a more holistic view of all the different data she had from several other reports was phenomenal. BIG RELIEF for me as I was worried about it. Shayna was extremely professional and personable and she is very knowledgeable on treatment plans as well. This was one of the BEST DOD visits I have had to date! I highly recommend her and this group as even the receptionists were very professional and personable as well! read more

Although there was a bit of a wait time, once taken back into the room Pearl the MA and Shayna the provider actively listened to my concerns and genuinely wanted to help me get better. Perla made sure to also double check my BP as it was high at first, then after speaking to both care team members knowing I was in good hands helped bring it to a normal level. I dont understand what the point is of making an appointment and getting here on time if the doctors are not going to prioritize their patients. Its straight up disrespectful. Imagine if I would habe showed up 1 hour late they wouldnt have taken me. Its horrible and bad business. No wonder these doctors work here they must be the worst doctors around thats why they got a job at doctors on duty. They need to be more respectful for the patients and their time. brought my son in to Doctors on Duty on S. Main st in Salinas, Just to see if he has a fractured or dislocated finger, he's in so much pain. We got here a 1:00pm they called in at 2:00pm they took his temperature and placed us in a room. While we're sitting here waiting for a doctor to see my son. I here waiting and outside the door I hear Doctors and nurses laughing but yet we are the ones need the attention. Its about 2:54pm and we still haven't been seen from a doctor. My poor son is waiting patiently and in pain... They want our money and our service but yet they don't want to help us! Will I recommend this place No!! read more

First time at Doctors on Duty (1212 South Main) for my DOT physical exam, and it was excellent. They even opened early at 7:40-7:50 because of light rain so we wouldn't have to wait outside. I went to the South Main Street location because the Hardin Ranch location was closed, although it was supposed to be open, which is closer to my home. I called first to see how long the wait would be and was told about an hour and a half. I tried to make an appointment, but the next appointment was over two months from now, so I went to the office. I thought I might have a sinus infection or bronchitis. I was there about 2 hours when I inquired how long it would be until someone could see be before someone could see me. I was told there were only two patients ahead of me, so I decided to continue waiting. I saw about 6 people go into to see the doctor and went again to the desk and they clarified that there were only two people ahead of me without an appointment, the rest had appointments. Finally, they called my name. An assistant weighed me and took my blood pressure but didn't tell me what they were until I asked. Finally, about10 minutes later, the doctor walked in. He seemed like being there seeing patients was the last place in the world he wanted to be. He seemed to think I had the flu. I've had the flu before and knew I didn't have the flu and was vaccinated for it about a month ago. I was also up to date on my Covid, RSV, and pneumonia shots. He also asked if I had ever had pneumonia. He finally prescribed a medication for a sinus infection and a prescription for my cough. He said he couldn't diagnose me for bronchitis without an Xray. I was diagnosed for bronchitis about 20 years ago, but I never had to get an Xray. I have a family physician I see for my annual checkups, so I don't go to Doc in a Box for those. I have gone to Doctors on Duty before, but I saw a PA and not a doctor and was satisfied with that experience. In the future maybe I'll just go to the ER at the hospital instead even though they would prefer that you use urgent care in lieu of going to an urgent care facility. read more

Long wait times, front desk and PA's in the back were both doing non-clinical tasks while I waited. While walking to room, saw 4-5 providers huddled around on computer online shopping for clothes. This makes sense of the long wait times. It's nice they have a good coworker environment as many healthcare jobs lack, but with increased wait times while no one is here... no wonder why patients wait so long. They could increase productivity besides shopping online. read more

From the moment I called to inquire about being seen today, the entire staff was amazing. Jazmine in the front desk was super sweet and helpful. 3 hours wait to see a PA and a medical assistant who is not communicative and grumpy. They take way too long. The staff acts like they don't want to be at work, and don't care how horrible you feel. The medical assistant didn't do the blood pressure correctly, so I pointed it out and she redid it. I think the medical assistant didn't do the COVID test properly, she only collected mucus at the bottom of my nose not the back and she didn't even tell she was going to do it just shoved the swab in my nose. Of course it was neg. Then they said, tonsils look good... I said I don't have tonsils. Testing for strep. Anyway, alot of time and money for incompetent staff, no firm diagnosis and I'm still very sick. read more

Went on 7/16 @ 9AM. Inconsiderate/judgmental front desk worker. Young lady all the way to the right, could take a class on basic communication. There was a miscommunication with the front desk. The service I wanted was a school physical which they don't take insurance and is payed out of pocket. I was booked for an annual. I had explained my situation that I was transitioning from a new insurance plan since I was switching from full time to part time and had been approved but did not take effect just yet. I went to Dr on Duty for an Xray of my knee after falling. I want to compliment the medical persons that I saw. Eloise, the Medical Assistant was outstanding. She was thorough and efficient but kind and gentle. She even brought in her supervisor (a very nice young man) to check on an issue. The X-ray technician was excellent and gentle. I appreciated him explaining what he was doing as he moved my leg into odd positions. Dr. Michael Luder was excellent! At no time did I feel I was just a number. He took time with the exam before the X-ray and after to explain the X-ray results. He also printed up some exercises for my knee. Why 4 STARS and not 5? The Office staff while very polite , could explain the Long Wait better. After 2 hours, I truly thought I had been forgotten. But as I said the Medical Care was Excellent. Certainly a better experience thangoing to ER for a noncritical issue.​ read more
