Went here for lunch. Very nice inside. Airy, spacious and cool blues played at a perfect volume. I ordered the chicken sammich with coke slaw topping. Came w a side. I chose mac and cheese. Partner ordered the brisket platter. My sangwiche as very tasty with a crisp spicy coating, usually reserved for wings. Awesome- I'd get this again! Whoa... first visit with a friend who has been there multiple times and has been telling me about it. Food was excellent (had brisket and chicken, he had brisket and pulled pork - all sauces are tasty in their own right, I liked Doc's Original and Memphis), plenty of beer offerings, including some rarities, with a cool keg tracking system (need to get the app for your phone), service was good, hospitality outstanding! Dave, a manager, came by to talk for a bit and was an engaging conversation. I was surprised to find that they had on tap a Vietnamese porter someone shared with friends of mine while in line for bottle pick-up at Dark Lord Day and raved how outstanding it was and I could not remember the name... long story short, Doc's had it on tap - who'd a thunk?! Dave shared that he takes pride in pursuing rare beers to offer Doc's customers. This is a manager who is appropriately focused on me, the customer. Dave ended up bringing my packaged, leftover food to my car, which I accidentally left at the table - all done with a smile. As I've said, just an overall great experience! Docs is the Region' best BBQ and brew place hands down. Their dry rub wings appetizer are worth a trip all alone. They aren't spicy but so delicious with a touch of crispy, salty and sweet. One disclaimer, our last trip they could have been cooked a slight bit longer but this is really splitting hairs. The beer selection is varied and eclectic and they have several of the 3 Floyd's offerings available all the time plus beers like Chimay and other imports you just don't see anywhere else. Speaking of 3 Floyd's- just up the street, the atmosphere here is light years ahead of there in my opinion, no weird videos, no crushing crowds, no overwhelming noise so loud you can't hear yourself speak. At DOC's, Blues music on the background is playing loud enough to enjoy, but not too loud that you can't hear a conversation with your dining partners. They have TVs, mostly playing local sports but with the volume off so if you don't want to watch it's not a distraction. The servers are attentive and pleasant, also knowledgeable. They have a nice outdoor section, two dining sections indoors and a bar area. They are also kid friendly. Back to the food. The BBQ is a standard selection of smoked meats, decent and they have a selection of 6 sauces to choose from as well as a variety of sides. In addition to the wings, definitely the go to, they have LA Cavier which is a black eyed pea relish, portion on the small side but interesting and tasty, the fried pickles are pretty good. If you go anytime soon, try the Byway Brewery White Stout, aged in a bourbon barrel but with a golden color, it is so smooth and so good, also worth a trip just to try it. The Carolina hot slaw is black peppery as opposed to hot/habanero kind of spicy - I am glad I tried and enjoyed it but it was a little too peppery for a regular choice. We like this place. We've met Doc and the staff is quite nice. They speak very highly of their jobs...always a good sign and compliment to management. The menu is s bit limited, but the smoked wings are really good; you can't have all flats or drummers, though, and I'm a flats lover. Everyone has to come and try this place out! So good! Meat so tender it slides off the bone. Paired with over 70 different kinds of whiskey, bourbon, rye, and beer. Had the ribs and pork. First bbq place I've been to in a long time where I didn't need any sauce. The ribs were cooked perfectly! They keep the membrane on them so they have that nice "snap" when you bite into them. The pulled pork was fantastic as well. A lot of places have pulled pork that comes out soggy. Liked this place at first visit, but after 3rd one I haven't been back. Staff is friendly, but has no clue what they are serving or about the menu or what's on it. Couldn't answer any questions I had. Frustrating and annoying. Food was good, I liked everything I tasted. However, when I got the brisket, it was ridiculously fatty. It was so bad, I couldn't believe they served it. I told the server, & she got the manager. He explained that it was the way the brisket is cut and that I would have to request a different kind of cut to have it leaner. Seriously?! I don't care how you cut it, just don't serve me a giant pile of fat and think I'm going to be ok with it. I think the place could do well if they educated the wait staff and don't serve fat. Wow! Best BBQ I have had outside of Kansas City! Quick service by a very personable waiter (wish I had gotten his name!), and the food was amazing! Both my husband and I had brisket, and I added two ribs so I could try them, too. WELL worth it! The brisket was so tender, and had a great smokiness to it. I tried several of the sauces, and Doc's was my favorite (BBQ sauce is NEVER white - let's just make that point now, Arkansas!). The ribs? To die for! You could taste the smoke in every bite, and it was absolutely amazing. I had the brisket chili and Cole slaw as my sides, and my husband had the French fries and the stew - all of which were quite tasty! We started with an appetizer of the chips and onion dip and were very happy with that as well. We will absolutely be going back for more visits in the future! read more

I can honestly say it is the place for great food, whiskey, & an amazing amount of beer choices. There isn't very many BBQ/smokehouses in the area but I do believe this one really stands out. Maybe I'm just happy with the fact I brought a family of six and I didn't feel like I was robbed. It's definitely not as pricey as the other two good ones in area.
