Fun happy place. The breeze was great and Dockside ice tea was solid. I had the walleye taco. read more

Dockside Cafe - Walleye taco. Oh boy - Burgers Near Me - Sandusky, Ohio

My wife and I happened upon this cafe on our way through Sandusky. We were looking for lunch near the water and Dockside did not disappoint. I honestly wasn't expecting much, but the service was pleasant and the food was great. On top of that, it's located right on the water next to a small marina - Cedar Point can be seen in the distance. They have a very limited menu, but what they offer, they do well. We had Walleye tacos and chicken tacos, and very good fries with both. A very pleasant discovery. read more

The Walleye Tacos with the Aioli sauce is excellent. Give the Dockside Cafe a try next time you want a laid back atmosphere with solid food. To top it off, you get a nice view of Lake Erie. read more

This was one of our favorite finds this trip. We spent the day at Cedar Point and were looking for something good to eat. We pulled up Yelp and I think this was the 2nd or 3rd option closest to us, we checked out some reviews and what they had and loved that we got to sit on Lake Erie and eat so headed over this way. There was some sort of group gathering at the same time, but the restaurant kept it business as usual and our service was great. Reasonable prices and drink specials. I had a Mai Tai and my friend ordered what he thought was a flavored beer but turned out to be a alcohol flavored sparkling water that he really enjoyed. I had a burger and fries which were very enjoyable and my friend had something mexican. The music was enjoyable, it was great watching the storm in the distance and seeing the lights of Cedar Point as the sun set down. Love Love Love this place! read more

Dockside Café was awesome. We had the Perch Tacos and the alcoholic Punch! Everything was delicious and priced right. The views from the restaurant was great, You could see the island and Cedar Point peninsula. We sat on the dock itself since the seating near the restaurant was full. My daughter walked down the dock and notice some snakes on the rocks. They were black and swimming in the water. Sea snakes and protected by law is what we found out late by family from Sandusky. It was interesting to see. read more

Discovered this place on a trip to Cedar Point. The walleye Tacos were incredible ! I'll be back

Good food. Best fries. Sweet atmosphere. Waleye Tacos had a nice kick and super crunch. Perch and Waleye are local Erie fish. Perfect stop after ferry ride in from Pelee Island. read more

Great view, nice service and interesting food. Fish tacos and shrimp nachos were solid. The fries are house cut too, so do that! We will be stopping by again, next time we are driving by. It's right across from Cedar Point is right there so make it a thing! read more

Fabulous patio dining overlooking the Sandusky Bay. Occasional live entertainment, great food, and good prices. Plenty of dock space available for boaters, the only thing lacking is more seating, as it is a premium on a gorgeous weekend. read more

Pleasant place to park the boat and grab a bite to eat. That's what we did. One seagull kept eyeing our food so we had to keep him at bay. Got a hamburger, nachos, and hot dog. Probably should avoid the nachos next time, they did seem a bit stale. But the hamburger was delicious. Others in our party ordered the fish tacos, I didn't get a bite but I'm sure they were good. read more

Terrific location, hanging outside w/our pup. The shrimp taco & cold beer was a perfect combination on a summer afternoon!

This place is a great little gem on the docks of downtown Sandusky. It's owned by the Zinc folks, who transfer their skillful approach to more accessible food, like tacos, nachos, burgers, and some other tex-mex items. The food here does not disappoint, nor does the overall experience. With a good drink selection and cheap prices, you just can't go wrong. This is an outdoor spot, so it's only open during the warmer months, weather permitting. The process is pretty simple: step up to the window, order your food and drinks, pick up your food when your name is called, eat and be merry. I managed to catch a live music during one of my visits this past summer--bonus. Apparently there's live entertainment most every weekend. This is a great place to round out a nice-weather evening for locals and tourists alike. read more

This is an absolutely gorgeous place to grab a bite on a seasonal, temperate sunny day with a beautiful view of the lake and Cedar Point and a cool breeze blowing. The staff is friendly and they are quite busy on beautiful Saturday afternoons so a twenty minute wait for your food is neither uncommon nor unpleasant. As for the food, I tried the walleye and perch fish tacos. They were good approaching VERY good, but they didn't get there or even come close to great. This was not the fault of the fish- it was fried perfectly and had the exact right combination of softness, crunch and resistance- but it was a little underseasoned. The experience was dragged down by the tortillas which tasted like they were purchased from Meijer and the pico and remaining toppings which didn't contribute much flavor. STILL- they were seven millions times better than you'd get at any fast food dump in the immediate area, came with a great view AND you're supporting a local business (an environmentally conscious one that uses paper straws!! ) so it is definitely a place you have to stop if you like eating local and avoiding things you can easily grab anywhere else in the world. Definitely recommend, although would avoid in bad weather as I didn't see much in the way of sheltered seasoning. A less experienced fish taco person may have rated them higher, but in my book three stars is pretty good and I will definitely keep them in mind the next time I'm in Sandusky. read more

I tried the fish tacos-definite yum! They were generous with the fish and the fries. The outside seating on the lake was peaceful. Plenty of tables and tasty beverages to satisfy whether you simply want a cocktail with friends or a great casual meal. The staff was super friendly, too! read more

My FAVORITE restaurant in Sandusky! Right on the water, great meal yet casual. Come at 8:30 and watch the sunset at 9. Very reasonably priced, and Great Lakes on tap. I go almost once a week and get the walleye tacos every single time and if they don't have that I also love the steak tacos. The nuts and berries salad is great too! read more

Beautiful place! We had a great view of the water and Cedar Point. all the food was yummy: walleye fish tacos (breaded and deep fried), burgers, fries, and shrimp quesadillas. The only downside was the bees. read more

Good perch and walleye tacos. View can't be beat. Good casual place right on the water in the Paper District. Between the boats and Cedar Point lights there was quite a Spent the evening at a concert at the amphitheater next to the restaurant and marina last Saturday, so we had a late dinner here after the show. It was clear that they were closing up the kitchen but were very accommodating and quick with the order. Both fish tacos had a fair amount of fish on them and had a nice slaw/sauce combination. They get a bit runny, though, so be careful to drain them or hold it over your plate as you eat! The salads were pretty standard - the greek was a bit short on feta and olives but ok as a side to the tacos. read more

If you are looking for someplace fast to eat, this isn't it! We boated across the bay for lunch, paid the $10 dock fee, waited in a slow moving line and then finished my beer right as our food order was finally called. But we weren't in a hurry and the view was so beautiful that it didn't really matter. The walleye tacos were delicious and are billed as world famous (not sure how they came to that conclusion!). Great place to hang out if you are just having drinks. It is all outdoors so keep an eye on the weather. read more

The day was beautiful so that is a big part if the rating, but the place deserves five stars for the food. Looks like a snack shack at a beach, but the food is fresh & deceptively good. No place to eat in, 5 tables on a patio & picnic tables. Right on the shore of Lake Erie with Cedar Point in the background. Interesting place for the kids who took a stroll down the dock and saw all the boats & the unique Lake Erie water snakes in the lake swimming along. read more

Do not miss this great outdoor cafe. Awesome food and drinks. Location is everything-right on lake Erie

Absolutely perfect for what it is, a very casual, outdoor cafe overlooking the water. After a delicious dinner of fish tacos and some seriously good fries, we watched the sunset with a couple of beers. Then watched as the lights at Cedar Point came on. A great experience! read more

Came here with my family last summer, no shade whatsoever. My kids were well behaved but talking loudly at times and the other customers did not look pleased, also there is no kids menu, so you will be spending $10 on a below average hotdog that I'm sure your little one will refuse to eat once they have a look at it. The food is nothing special, I know that the people of Sandusky don't have much to pick from but I don't know where all these 4, 5 star reviews are coming from, searched Yelp forever before finding this place, wish I hadn't. I love Lake Erie, grew up swimming in that lake, but it's filthy now. The dock that this place sits on is so scummy, lets just say I didn't order the fish tacos. Oh, and that hotdog I mentioned had a very long hair wrapped around it. If the hair was laying on top I would take into consideration that it was one of ours but we all have fairly short hair and this was a long hair WRAPPED AROUND THE HOTDOG, Yum! read more

Great food, great views, great service - can't ask for much more. Had the walleye and perch tacos and both were amazing. Would recommend for anyone in or passing by Sandusky. Easy access by car or boat. read more

Great tacos but the best part of this outside restaurant is the view. I could have spent the whole day watching the boats on the lake. We definitely will be back next summer read more

We ate here the other night. The food was delicious. The only thing that keeps this from getting 5 stars was our nachos!!!! We had a 4t min wait for our food. The nachos must have been made 20 mins before we got them. But considering we are from philly this place held up to our standards. read more

If you want terrible service where the employee speak explicitly about you well you are in earshot and management does nothing about it!One of the worst dining experiences of my life! read more

The view of the bay is probably the biggest attraction here. We were looking for someplace to eat outside, near water, and this fit the bill. Food was "OK", not bad, not outstanding. Order at the counter, pick up on the side of the building- more like a food stand than a restaurant. Prices were touristy, but not outrageous. read more

This place is right on the water, the scenery is beautiful. Food is so good, drinks are cold! You walk up to order but the service is great.

Sandusky's best kept secret, but not for long. The lobster roll is the best I've ever had! Sitting on a toasted roll is a generous portion of sweet, warm, succulent lobster-no fillers or vegetables or lettuce, just huge pieces of lobster that are then drenched by a ladle of warm butter as they rest in the bun! Unbelievable!!! The lobster roll is placed on fresh cut fries, before the butter is poured, which allows them to capture the warm butter that has drizzled on them. I'm hungry all over again as I write this! The food and the gorgeous outdoor setting right along water's edge make Dockside Cafe one of Sandusky's best places to eat!! read more

Great place for casual, quick-service outside dining right on the water. Burgers, quesadillas, salads, fish tacos, etc. Full bar.

The Dockside Cafe was amazing! Such a beautiful place for a fun relaxed night out. They had a live band and good drinks. Their tacos were amazing as well! Can't beat the view of Lake Erie. read more

Definitely the walleye tacos! Cool place, great view, relaxing way to unwind at the end of the day. Grab a table, then go order, the table turn quickly so everyone has a place to sit and enjoy the food and view. read more

Fantastic waterfront casual dining experience. Food was great and didn't take more than 10-15 minutes for them to call our name after placing our order. Great prices and a great selection of beer. read more

Perch, walleye, chicken and shrimp tacos were consumed to fast for a photo. Let's start with the all stars... walleye and perch were cooked perfectly. The breading was crisp and hot. The veggies were fresh and the sauce had great flavor. The only downside was the tacos were messy and the tomatoes inside made lots of liquid leak out. The chicken taco was full of grilled chicken and based on our guest... was quite delicious. Now the shrimp taco was a different story. The shrimp were over cooked and rubbery. The flavor was good.. however the prep could have been better. The fries were plentiful and seasoned with some unique flavors. (Maybe curry?). The view was perfect of the lake and cedar point just a bit away. We had to wait in line quite a bit to order our food. Once ordered... it was served up in around 10min or so. There was music out on the patio as well... and this was an added treat. Could have been perfect... but this time wasn't the best. read more

Amazing time at this little Key Mid-West on the lake. Beautiful view and equally enjoyable food/drinks! Came to town for Cedar Point and decided to leave the park for dinner. Super glad we did. We bought 3 entries and two drinks and got away under $32! Try the fresh hand cut fries. Great place, don't pass it up! read more

Myself and a buddy visiting from Texas, tried the Walleye Tacos and they were excellent! Good atmosphere, great view and friendly staff.

I had the $5 hamburger. Very good. This is an outdoor or takeout only establishment. No indoor seating! Over all a cool place to eat and enjoy the sights of the lake. read more

The was a second choice place to stop and it should have been our first. The views were spectacular, the chicken and walleye tacos were Devine, and the atmosphere was first rate. Definitely will be back. Excellent!!!! read more

Beautiful, relaxed setting on the water of Lake Erie. Cedar Point in the horizon. We had the Walleye fish tacos and they were delicious.. the fish tasted fresh!!! It wasn't greasy or tasting of old grease (if that makes sense). The French fries were fresh and had an amazing garlic seasoning to them (I have never had fries like that, would love to know what they put on them). The only improvement I could suggest is a Sirancha (ranch with Siracha) topping instead of the aoli (I hate mayo and the thought of it on tacos grosses me out.. A more traditional approach would be a plain Greek yogurt with lime juice, siracha, and cilantro added). A slice of lime for squeezing over the tacis is always a pleasant addition. Regardless of the aoli ( which unfortunately seems to be taking over in various forms at a lot of great places), the tacos themselves are high quality and everything was fresh!! Oh, the Pico de Gallo is great, and was so happy to see that on the tacos! On Sundays they do not have hard liquor (I am guessing it's an Ohio law of some sort?) But they did have various beer to choose from. Truly enjoyed the place and the employees were friendly, patient, and helpful. read more
