I rarely leave reviews, but feel the need to warn people about this place. It is definitely more bar than restaurant. The food was terrible. I ordered loaded nachos to play it safe, how can you mess up those right? Nachos had cheap bbq sauce on them and old hamburger. Met some friends Saturday afternoon at Dockery Grill for drinks and an early dinner. Other than the few pool players, we were the only ones dining (it was 4pm). I used to be a regular for lunch at Dockery Grill when I worked closer so I was happy to go back. It was a party of 8, and our server Tracy took good care of us. A basket of fried pickles was ordered for the table. They were not pickle chips but pickle spears. The batter on them was tasty but it was a lot of pickle taste due to the size of the spears. It was a bit much but I'm not a big pickle fan anyway. I ordered the Dockery burger on the jalapeño bun and subbed for onion rings. I asked for lettuce, tomato and onion only. What I got was mayo, lettuce and hunks of tomato. I hate mayo on anything hot. Instead of complaining I just wiped it off since it wasn't a lot of it. I also don't think I got the jalapeño bun, as it didn't have any kick. The bun was good but just not what j ordered. The burger was seasoned but the hunks of tomato threw it off for me too. Onion rings are freshly made and tasted soooo good! I could have just ordered a basket of those and been happy. I also ordered a Boondocks drink. It was good. Tasted like spiked Kool aid. All in all, we had a great time. Tracy realized we were there having fun and checked on us from time to time but didn't bother us as if she was trying to rush us or anything, as we stayed almost 3 hours. She was super sweet. Despite most of us living in Byram, 5 out of the 8 had never been to Dockery Grill before. But we all vowed to come back again. read more

I went to the grill today and placed a togo order and after paying $67 for my order, I just knew that it would be amazing, i got home and realized that my ham steak looked like it was cooked days ago, it was terrible looking and I threw it out. The rest of my food was delicious. Please check your order before leaving the restaurant!! read more

Great Spot for Lunch!!! I had the pleasure of visiting the Dockery Grill while in Byram for business. I ended up there by invite of two of my business colleagues and they were right on the money this was the place in the area for lunch. The lunch is served in a buffet style, it does not have a huge selection but they have a great fresh selection of foods for lunch. My selections were the deep-fried pork chop, fried chicken, hamburger steak with gravy and pickled cabbage. The food was fresh, hot and very good. Although I was only here for lunch, the place was busy enough to reflect that it is a local hot spot. I would like to go back and try Dockery for dinner. we went to hear a local band and decided to have dinner. i was pleasantly surprised that the food was soo good in this bar/pool hall! we had the onion rings for an appetizer. the rings were delicious! they were hand cut and battered we all enjoyed them. for dinner he had the steak special which was served with a salad and your choice of side. he said that the steak was good and better than expected for the price and the fact that we were in a bar. i had the cheeseburger with fries and it was great! the bun was soft and fresh, the toppings were fresh and the patty was cooked perfectly! so, why only 3 stars? the service is pretty bad. it was necessary to request almost each item needed including silverware. there were long wait times from making a request to the arrival of the item. i'm not certain why there were such long pauses, it wasn't that busy. this place could have real potential for a fun spot with live music and really good food but they have to up their service game if they want to compete. read more

I used to love coming here to play pool back when it was reeds. Service was absolute crap. Started playing pool and not one time did a waitress come by to check on us ask if we needed anything get a food or drink order nothing. After two hours of being there right before the kitchen closed I finally asked for a food menu and ordered food. The food was subpar, frozen mozzarella sticks, wings came out with wrong sauce. Was never asked again if we needed anything. Music was decent but everything else has gone straight down the pipe. Was a waste of time and money on a Friday night. Would have been slightly understandable had it been packed and busy. But it wasn't by any means they even cut a server to leave prior to me going and requesting a menu. They either need training or new staff one. read more

Every time we come into the restaurant, we spend between $100 to $200. We have enjoyed some good times there. But here lately, I have been very disappointed. It seems that you never have enough staff to take care of your customers. Last night was terrible. After waiting over 30 minutes or a drink order, I had to leave to table to go find our waiter. I told him to cancel the order and bring me my bill. You will not get any more money out of me. There is no excuse for any customer to have to wait 30 minutes for a drink order. read more

Bar closes at 12 and was told last game at 11?? The food was good but being told to leave at 11 when playing pool isn't exactly ideal.

Wife and I have visited the D/G coupla times since it rebranded and reopened as D/G about two years ago. We go to catch big ballgames on TV as we eat, as was the case last night. The Dockery Burger and chicken tenders basket are probably the two best values on the menu, so we stuck with that. Each was fine. The jalapeños on the burger seemed fresh and awesome. The beer list is okay; I do wish they'd order some Abita Amber, at least. The service keeps this place from being any higher than three stars, though. It's either not enough or too much when it comes to that department. Last night, we had no fewer than four servers whiz by and handle small parts of our order. Overlap is awkward, folks! Then, once a 30-minute time span went by without seeing a single server, I had to grab the first one I saw re-emerge and ask her for the check -- which we were about ready to receive anyway since we were finished eating. We were listening to live music at Dockery Grill and the bar tender turned on the jute box and said she wanted to make money and did not want to hear the guy play. How disrespectful to hire someone then play the jute box over him. I will never be back. read more
