My friend and I stopped there for dinner after driving nine hours. I have a service dog and they refused service to me. But they didn't say it was because of my dog what they said was that they weren't heating anybody else. They close at nine we walked in at 7:20 and they said they were not serving anybody else. Very bad management, I was around the area for work, and ordered food to go, paid for my order, and 3 days later on my bank statement the charge was more than what my receipt said, called to see as to why there was a difference in charges, figuring it was a mistake, and the manger admitted they illegally added said tip to my order without my authorization, because "they felt like they deserved it", repeating that over and over, also called my employer to tell them they will not be serving anyone else from my company at their establishment, highly recommend not eating here. read more

I'm giving three stars because it was a mostly pleasant experience. Our server was friendly and nice but definitely did not want to go out of her way to do anything extra. My wife and I both ordered the same burger and we both ordered them cooked medium. Hers came out nice and juicy and about medium well which is OK. Mine came out super well done. Practically burnt. I told my server and showed her the burger patty. She blamed it on the grill and walked away. Well it obviously wasn't the grills fault. My wife's burger was cooked right beside it. I ate about half of it. Too dry and crispy too finish it. The rest of the meal was damn good. The coleslaw was great although it was served it very small condiments cups. I would have liked more. The seasoned fries were cooked to perfection. They were hot and tasted wonderful. Well... we got the bill and was surprised to see that there were no adjustments to it. Not even a discount. I asked the other server about it as we were checking out. She also blamed it on the grill. Not the cook. The restaurant it's self; Bland. Looks very old. One of the booth table tops were barely attached to the wall. That was the first booth we sat at before we moved to another table. My wife and I don't typically care about our review the decor but I need to mention it. The carpet looked like it hasn't been cleaned in 30 years. Black! Disgusting and greasy looking. I know we are here for the food and I don't usually pay much attention to the floors. The get walked on and they get dirty. We all know that. But this was beyond cleaning. This needs to be replaced. Everything else seemed to be in order. Didn't use the restroom so I can't speak to that. read more

Dobbs nails it again! Get the chicken and biscuits! Delicious every time! Perfectly cooked chicken breast smothered in tasty gravy over delectable biscuits, served with crispy fries! Nothing mattered once delivered to my table. My wife got the cheeseburger. Juicy and delicious, coleslaw on the side with more of those crispy fries. My daughter got the Ruben and loved it! This is a must stop that we make when we bring our daughter back home from college in Utica on the way back to Bucks County Pennsylvania. Lucky, it's almost halfway home. This is just what I needed after a long weekend in NYC. Driving home, I see the sign for this place so we stopped to check it out. I had the Turkey club and OMG was it an amazing Turkey club. This is a cute little diner type of establishment. Friendly service, local people, and the food was really good and it came out fast. So, you go to a place like this instead of the numerous corporate fast-food places nearby because you want something special, a little different. The dated (neglected) decor is a feature, not a bug. Open since 1967. Well, in 2024 three burgers, some chicken tenders and three desserts will set you back $70. Nothing special about any of it. Not sure if we were paying the out-of-towner tax or they just didn't want to update their menus, but the prices on the receipt didnt match up. Driving through the northeastern US, friends and I crossed the border of New York into Pennsylvania. We were ravenous for lunch and wanted something fast (we were also running low on gas!) - so we took the first exit we crossed, into Hallstead. Dobb's Country Kitchen is a medium-sized family restaurant furnished with an old-fashioned iron stove, diner counters, and flower pots. There's ample seating for a large group. Owners and managers George and Trudy Eddleston do a great job keeping Dobb's comfortable and inviting. Service is friendly and the din of other diners' conversations filled the air. Many patrons appeared to be locals (in their late 60's) or truckers passing through. Dobb's continental menu is full of the usual suspects: salads, sandwiches, and onion rings to more substantial fare like jumbo hamburgers, steak, and prime rib. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger - it was inexpensive and had a juicy beef patty and with a side of the best coleslaw I've ever tasted in a long time - a Cadallac of coleslaws! Delicious combination: Dobb's low-cost grilled cheese sandwich is tasty and pleasantly unhealthy. Food: Decent home cooked kind of dishes. Nothing really stands out though. You're not going to say "Oh I can't wait to come back for that 'insert food item' again!" Appearance: Things are very dated and are way past their age of replacement. Due to this, it gives a not so clean vibe. Carpet and booths should really be replaced. Some are torn and seem not level. Bathroom should at least have toilet seats replaced. Wait staff: I'd like to start by saying we've definitely had a few waitresses who are consistently nice and attentive. Unfortunately that's the exception here, not the rule. Most of the staff is unprofessional and really don't care about giving good service. They're just there to collect a paycheck and do as little as possible. They close at 8pm. If you arrive at 6:30 sometimes you're told the cook has decided he's not doing anymore hot food. If you call for takeout around that same time, you'll be told they aren't doing anymore takeout because of what time it is. That's right, an hour to an hour and a half before closing. You'd think in these times where people are really trying to make money and keep their business going that they'd want to have your money, especially since they don't even have to "wait on you" if you do takeout. No! Not here. The cook and some of the wait staff can't wait to NOT take your order and your money. They'd rather just bum around for the last hour and not be bothered to cook and serve food. If this is the case, why not just close at 6:30 or 7 or whenever they feel that they don't want to serve anyone anymore that evening. It's absolutely ridiculous! read more

So I don't have to many check in but have been her throughout my life. I usually am here for breakfast or lunch but used to be here weekly for dinner. Last time I came at 11:30 and was told they don't do breakfast after 11 (Really, you're a diner). Service is always slow and okay, unless your one of the regular old crowd they almost make it seem like you're a burden on them. It's not bad service, they just don't go above and beyond, seem like nice people though. Food usually comes out decently quick, although it's sub par diner food, bacon is tasteless, not the best of anything. Stopped here on my way back home to Long Island from camping near Binghamton. Breakfast was mediocre and all of the sides were a la carte. I asked for bacon instead of ham in my western omelette and they charged me for the bacon! Also, every diner I've ever been to serves home fries with any breakfast, not as an add on. No effort was made to clear dishes from tables where patrons had left. The carpet shows years of wear and the floor evidenced the remnants of many meals. The bathrooms would benefit from a good cleaning. The food was mediocre with unexpected additions: a Cesare salad with black olives and a pork sandwich slathered with mayonnaise. We have been eating here for over 20 years. Not to mention I served there from 1995- 2000. Best home cooked meals around. Same receipes with a few added dishes. The same cooks are there along with some new blood who learned the ways of Derek's kitchen quite well, knowing he runs a tight ship. Never disappointed. Stopped on our way to the big apple, so glad we did! Quiet little diner with a good selection on the menu. To our surprise our plates came out loaded! The BBQ sandwich is amazing! I stopped in here on my back to Buffalo, NY from Springfield, NJ. I wanted to eat a real meal on the road, not just fast food. I was a little worried that there wouldn't be many vegetarian options, but was pretty happy for find that they had several salads and sides that were vegetarian.
