Will has been doing my hair for about 5 years now. He recently moved to Do or Dye and I love it. He is the best. I have referred friends and coworkers to him and they love him as well. My friends always tell me I have the best hair and I owe it all to him. read more

I love this place. It is SUPER cute and calm and the staff is incredibly amazing. The stylists here are independent, but you wouldn't know that walking in. They greeted warmly and offered me a beverage right away. I would definitely recommend Will F. to anyone needing any type of hair appointment. He is amazing. Great cozy place to relax. A+ read more

I am so worried about who touches my hair that I went nearly two years without a haircut since moving to Houston in 2011. Seriously, I used to wait for trips to Seattle (my hometown) to see my long time hairstylist who I absolutely love. I decided it was finally time to grow up and get a local hairstylist, and a friend recommended I see Brandi (the salon owner) at Do or Dye. Umm, definitely wish I would have just sucked it up and gone into this salon a year ago. I got an ombre dye job and dry-cut trim and Brandi did a phenomenal job. Added bonus: I absolutely love the decor and style of the salon itself - it certainly feels nice to be in a pleasant atmosphere during those long dye sessions (plus they have great magazines). I would definitely recommend Do or Dye to any and all of my friends! read more

Do or Dye is a very warm, comfortable place, and everyone is friendly and helpful. I have followed my facial person, Marissa, all over town, for the past 19 years! Yes, 19 years! She is wonderful. I think Do or Dye is the best place. The place is always busy and upbeat. Marissa is awesome! Just try her once and you will agree. She gives the best facial ever. I love her and will continue to go to her. She does new techniques, tries new products on the face, and the newest addition, the light therapy, is fantastic! She also gives a great massage. All the hairstylists look great. They are always busy. I highly recommend Do or Dye! read more

I've been a fan of Brandi for what feels like forever! She's basically the best when it comes to cuts and color. She really listens to what you want, she doesn't try to push you to cut too much or make you go in a direction you're not sure about, and she's super talented to boot. I always leave Do or Dye Tx feeling great about my hair! Full disclosure - I haven't lived in Houston for 6 years but I always try to get my hair cut when I'm back. Seriously - that's how great Brandi is! read more

Several months back I went to Grace for my highlights and cut right after a physical therapy appointment for horrible vertigo and balance issues. I had forgotten my crackers and ginger ale at home that I kept in my purse at all times in case I got sick after therapy. Not to run late for my appointment with Grace, I didn't stop for food to help with the nausea. I had a horrible ear virus which resulted in severe vertigo and balance issues for about 6 months. I asked the staff was there anyway I could run down and grab something to put on my stomach. They said no it would take too long. I was worried I would throw up as I was sick to my stomach. I told Grace how bad I felt but it fell on deaf ears. She told me she would give me an app to order food while I was processing. The girl at the front desk was sitting folding a few towels and her intern stood over me and they talked until they made my head hurt. Not once did Grace offer to send either one of them down to the 3 restaurants below the salon. I sat in the chair so horrified she had so little empathy for a client. I finally went down myself in the boiling heat, foils in my hair, with my head spinning around to get a taco. I was pretty disappointed in Grace as a person. After I told the story to my PT, he asked why would you ever go back. I decided to do as he suggested and find another salon. After going to her for over 2 years and always referring her clients, I was shocked how she lacked an ounce of empathy. read more

What can I say about Do or Dye that others haven't said already? They do great work, they take great care of you, and they're the nicest people. Whether you need a new stylist or just need to pick up some professional-quality products, they will take amazing care of you. Alex has even ordered stuff and had it shipped to the salon just for me--how can you beat that? Simply put, everything about this place is rock-solid. read more

The only reason they aren't getting 1 star is you can tell the stylists here are skilled and experienced, and I've had a good experience here before. However, I was rescheduled once with 2-hours notice and cancelled on by email without even a phone call, forcing me to find someone last-minute on a Saturday afternoon right before I left for my wedding in Florida. Not Cool. Considering their strict 24-hour policies on cancellations and 100% charges on no-shows, I would expect the same courtesy. They've lost my business. read more

I hardly ever write reviews, and I try to stay positive in my life. I know that styling people´s hair and doing it good is a very admirable and hard thing to do, setting aside vain. I was really looking forward to going to do or dye and get styled by some of these awesome stylists. Sadly they never returned any of my several emails, texts and calls. Then I thought maybe I should take my money somewhere else, I was not looking for any charity I was going to pay good money. I had no idea how hard it is to book and appointment and I understand they might have a busy life, but a little courtesy never killed anyone. I send all my good vibe to everyone at do or dye and may your business grow for many years. read more

5 star worthy y'all. Let me tell you why. I went to see Brandi for the first time at the recommendation of a friend & was a little nervous due to past experiences at another salon. Setting up an appointment was really easy & it was a thorough process. She asked me to take pictures of my hair before and then what I wanted it to look like at the end. When I got to the studio, everyone was really nice & friendly. A girl named Danielle got me started and we bonded instantly!! Now we're friends. Like got dinner and hung out. I think one of the most important qualities of a hair salon is friendliness of the stylists. They were so kind, guided me through getting my hair done with partially lived in highlights & also made me feel like I had known them forever! I felt open to telling them what I liked and didn't like (but I liked it all haha). I love this place so much & it has such a cool vibe & also offers a lot of what other studios don't. This place might be good, but I don't think their customer service is. Almost disrespectful. I reached out to Brandi who gave me one word responses in regards to booking appts. None of the dates worked for her and she didn't even make an effort to get me in. In fact she said, " why don't you just try xxxxxx or xxxxxx person" after several emails. Def didn't make a good first impression. I will not be contacting this salon again. read more

I've been going to see William at Do or Dye for a few years now and I've never been disappointed! He is honest in his consultations and always does his best to bring my blonde dreams alive! I recommend Will to anyone who is looking for that perfect shade of blonde whether it be highlights, lowlights, or an overall change. He's the best I've found in Houston, and I hope he sticks around forever so my hair can always look it's best! read more

Walked in to get my hair highlighted and cut. I waited for about 7-10 minutes and not one person acknowledged me. No thank you. Customer service is very important to me. read more

This salon is adorable inside, and in a nice area that isn't too bad to find parking. Ashley Krege is a genius at cutting my curly, frizzy, unruly, super thick hair, and I'm so glad I've found her again. Prices are very reasonable, and on the day I went (Friday, mid-afternoon) it wasn't crowded or stuffy inside. I'd definitely recommend, and coming from me, that's says a lot, b/c I've tried over 10 different salons and stylists since moving to Houston 3 1/2 yrs ago, and this is the only one I'm excited to become a regular at... read more

Loved it! Lindsey was awesome. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. I am always nervous trying new places when it comes to hair but rest assured they will take care of you! read more

My daughter had done a lot of research on hair salons in Houston and decided to go to Do or Dye. Her main concern was coloring her hair. Will looked like the best and most experienced colorist so I went online and made an appointment with him. After waiting a month to get an appointment, we finally drove the 40 minutes to get there. Cool, shabby chic meets industrial vibe. Everyone was very friendly and pleasant. However, for some reason, we were the only ones that were not offered a drink the entire time we were there. Not a big deal, just a bit odd. Will got to us promptly and spent quite a lot of time looking at my daughter's hair and discussing what she wanted and what he could/would do. I loved the haircut and it was her best blowout ever. However, she wanted ombré and Will does NOT do ombré. Supposedly it says that on their website. I just checked - it never mentions specifically that he does ombré but it never says he doesn't either. So, apparently the lengthy discussion before he started was offering other coloring options. He said the picture she brought as an example was not really ombré - I agree mostly just a moderate amount of highlights on the lower half of the hair. They agreed on a medium/dark shade of brown with some highlights - she thought she would still get something similar to the picture. She ended up with hair color a little darker than expected, not a big deal but, the highlights were fairly sparse blonde highlights through out the top of her hair. She did not want blonde and she wanted the lighter color more along the ends. She cried and was very upset when we got home. Had she known/thought that the coloring would not have been closer to the picture, she would have happily just gone with an all over dark red/auburn color. So after a couple of months of planning, researching and begging me to pay for top dollar service, she still didn't get what she wanted. Will seems like a super nice guy and talented. I just wish the communication had been better. I feel like he based his plan on the picture without asking her if she had any other thoughts on what she'd like to do. Overall, we had a very disappointing result. However, I gave 4 stars because it is a nice, friendly salon and Will did give a great haircut. Just don't ask for him if you want ombré! Not gonna happen! read more

Grace is the best, I've been going to her for over 5 years! I've gone from blonde to red to brown, from long to short, no bangs to bangs... she gets it right EVERY time!! The salon has a very inviting and warm feel with great people to talk to- can't wait to go back :) read more

Just go to Brandi for your next haircut and you'll be singing like those showering ladies in the Herbal Essence shampoo commercials. Really.

Do or Dye is an overpriced and overrated salon. It increased prices by 25 percent in less than nine months. Few working Americans get a salary increase of 25 percent. Few bills increase by 25 percent over 9 months. The service didn't increase by 25 percent, just the prices. Over or double booking occurs frequently. The managers are also not concerned about fire safety as the dryer as over heated and nearly caused a fire in once recent incident. Find another salon, especially if you've never been there before. Don't try it for the first or even second time. Definitely not worth the cost. read more

I was having a hard time finding someone who could do really good blonde hi-lights. My friend suggested I try Will at Do or Dye Salon and I am so glad she did! Will did such a great job with my color! He did exactly what I asked for and I absolutely love it! If you are looking for someone who does great color then go to Will. He was also really good about working with my schedule, he is very flexible with his hours. I will definitely be back! read more

I'd love to love this place but my attempts to get an appointment have been unsuccessful. I tried texting both owners and after a few back and forths was told to call the main phone number. I tried the main phone number only to be told they'll post my name and number on a wall to see if any of the stylists "bite". Seems like a doable system to be able to text your stylist and to set up an appointment, but if you're new to their system, there are some hoops to jump through apparently. read more

I finally found my go-to hair place in Houston! I went to William and he was awesome! I'm not really good at knowing what length or shape haircut I need and he helped me with length and could tell from my personality that I like things more simple. It turned out awesome. I liked that he didn't push products on me or highlights. He was really nice and really knew what he was doing. What a great feeling to be in and out of a place not only quickly, but with a great hair cut! I'll be back for sure. read more

Will Fingleman has been doing my hair for over 7 years and I have followed him to Do or Dye (and would follow him wherever he goes!). He is excellent at listening to what I want and tailoring the style for my hair type and face. I have never been disappointed and his suggestions prove that he knows what is best for my hair. I especially like the blowouts and often go before events b/c he does such a great job. He is respectful of my time as well and does everything he can to stay on track even when other clients are late. He is fantastic! read more
