I love the old-fashioned popcorn machine and free popcorn that they have at the store…read more I've always been able to get pretty much anything I need especially at the last minute like a nail, duct tape, bees/hornets/wasps spray, toilet seat, backup keys, and so much more. Super friendly and engaging customer support. The folks at work here really do seem to care. Another thing I love are the random cool things that you can purchase, like gift cards, and various trinkets. That they have those things has helped me grab some last-minute birthday and other holiday items for friends when I would have completely forgotten the special day. It is a nice neighborhood hardware store that serves its basic purpose and much more.

I have loved this store and staff since I moved to Kingston. As a general contractor and also in…read morethe process of remodeling our home here, Henery's has been an invaluable asset, literally 2 blocks away. At the onset of the pandemic, Henery's took charge and implemented numerous measures and protocols to keep patrons and staff as safe as possible. As of this date, May 18, 2020, however, things have deteriorated greatly. 1 of 5 employees I encountered wore a mask. 1 of 5 wore gloves. 2 passed within six inches of me in order to stock shelves on the same aisle I was on, neither wearing masks. Following the example, 2 of ten customers wore masks and also made numerous attempts to get less than 6 feet from me. There are no requirements for employees nor customers to wear a simple mask. Here's the thing. The measures we've used state wide and been enormously successful in reducing the spread of Covid 19. So much so, my wife and I thought it relatively safe to continue to shop in places like Henery's. Fact is, we have a 19 year old quadriplegic at home with 23% lung capacity. If he gets this disease, he dies. Full stop. As a result, we rely on the mutual concern and professionalism of establishments like Henery's to help maintain that level of safety. Henery's isn't doing that anymore, despite the lack of a vaccine and dire warnings from the CDC and epidemiologists globally. We cannot take the risk of killing our kid. So it is that today was my last trip into your store. Life will run a bit slower for us, as we order everything online and have it delivered, but seeing our son reach the age of 20 will make that well worthwhile.

My dog and I both love Henery's…read more It is small, yet has what you need. Somehow they get a lot into that small building! Speaking of that, go back to the aisle with the many small boxes that contain every tiny, unassuming replacement thingamabob and doohicky ever made in the world! I have NEVER seen this assortment of bits and thingies anywhere else. I mean let's say your hammock stand loses that screw with the largish plastic knob to help turn it with only your hand. By golly, there's a replacement one in that aisle! It is similar to Harry Potter's room of requirement if everything required was small. The workers are extraordinarily friendly. They either really like their jobs or are award-winning actors because I am a believer. BTW, dogs and the humans get free treats (popcorn for humans). Know that they do not sell lumber. Also know, you can rent stuff like power washers, etc. So what's not to love? It's WAY better than some gwaddafful anonymous big box. Albeit some things are more expensive than...say Amazon, but that is small town life. I read the review that complained of all the merchandise there being from China. NOT 100% true because I bought a nice bird feeder made in the USA there, but yeah most of it is. Everything everywhere is made in China, not just at Henery's. Heck, your souvenir to remember your wonderful trip to "fill in the blank" (not China) was probably made in China. Caveat though. Because they are small (but mighty), you sometimes may need to go to said big box. Hopefully not though. P.S. There has been discussion in my household as to whether it is pronounced with two syllables (HEN-RYS) or three (HE-NER-IES), so if someone with certain knowledge of it can clear that up, it would end that discussion once and for all.

Very helpful and lots of interesting products at the hardware store. The staff is very friendly and…read moreinformative.

I was at the store recently, and an employee who is a retired mechanical engineer rethreaded a hole in a vintage metal bookend for me (using a single screw that I purchased at the store) so that it will hold together tightly now! I was (and am) so impressed with his skill and the store's willingness to let him make the repair for me on the spot! I was charged only $5 for this service. Thank you so much, Ace Hardware!

I don't normally write reviews. After a couple years worth of experience, I feel it's warranted…read more 1. They are an ACE in name only. They do not accept coupons that ACE uses on their app or mailing. It means nothing to them. 2. They do not honor military service like other ACE stores. Not on Veterans or Memorial Day. Not ever. Which is crazy because this is WA with active bases all over this state. 3. Got a Weber grill and propane tank. The tank leaked and the gauge didn't work. Brought back the next day, and they tried to blame the tank fill on Bay Hay & Feed. Said the gauge never really works on them accurately... blah blah. Did not want to exchange the tank. Basically had to hold my ground as a customer with a receipt less than 24 hours after initial sale. They were very unprofessional about it but eventually exchanged. The tank was leaking so bad in the car ride over mind you, all windows had to be opened and we left the tank outside the store doors when conducting the exchange. The manager wanted to actually inspect and attempt to fix the tank and give it back to us. WTAF? Seriously? What happened to honoring the customer who has chosen to spend money in your store? 4. After all this went back a couple months later to buy a small part. Needed to use the restroom. The sign for bathrooms is clearly marked. The door was blocked by piled up boxes with a sign saying...Not working/available indefinitely... the door directly across which is obviously a bathroom as well, is marked Employees Only. When I asked to use restroom, I was told to go across street at Walgreens or the McDonalds. Ummmm ..... here is the deal.... I'm not spending money in those stores. I chose yours for business. Seriously? On Bainbridge Island of all places, is using the restroom that big of a deal? Do not spend your money here no matter how convenient you may think the location is. Take the 20 min drive to Poulsbo or Silverdale.

But today, I was stopped on my way in and told I had to leave my backpack--which acts as my purse--behind the counter. ME: "Oh? When did the store start this policy?" STAFF: "We've always done it." ME: "I've NEVER been asked to surrender my backpack and I come in here a lot!" STAFF: Pulls me aside in a confidential whisper..."It's not you, if you know what I mean, but we have to do it to everyone." Now, I am an AARP-card carrying senior in her 60s and I was stopped on this one occasion out of maybe 25+ visits to this store over the past 3 months. This is a case of implicit bias in action, folks. I don't carry a purse. I carry a small knapsack to keep my wallet in. I support Ace's right to proactively prevent shoplifting. But they must be consistent enacting those policies. Don't send off a suspicious vibe when you're projecting a "friendly" atmosphere! There's a smaller neighborhood HW store down the road. I think I will take my business there from now on.
