Do you ever go into a DMV and feel like you're actually talking to someone knowledgeable who has the training and desire to help you accomplish any and everything you came there for?? Me neither, until today!!!! The superstar of this story is *JORDAN AT WINDOW #5*!!!!! She has restored my hope in the humanity that is DMV Workers and come to think of it, the front counter girl was very friendly and professional too (Went back and discovered her name is Sue). So not only could I tell right off the bat that Jordan was looking forward to determining how she could help me, she was quick, professional... Even though I DIDN'T SMOG MY CAR OR BRING MY CO-REGISTRAR WITH ME, she was still patient in explaining my options for returning with the requirements and didn't make me feel like an idiot who just wasted my time. Instead she made me feel like "OK, cool I know what else I need to do and how to bring it back in the same day". Thanks for the great service, I will definitely be returning to this DMV. read more

Worst to come in the morning. Older female with brittle orange hair with glasses denied a form i filled out after an employee there told me to. What is the point to fill it out a form if its not going to assist? Idiotic. I detest the dmv period. Now i remember why i value the mail and internet service. read more

Impatient staff. Terrible customer service. Not helpful at all. Rude af. They like to give you the run around and not actually help you. Staff seems to act like they know it all but give you different information from one staff to the next. Does not care about your concerns or try to help you. You are better off talking to a computer or the wall. read more

Stood in line 15 minutes early at the Clovis DMV to register for behind the wheel test. DMV really backed up. Started test 1 hour and 15 minutes after my scheduled time. I wonder why this DMV thinks no one has plans for the day besides DMV. We even had an appointment. Some employees don't seem to be motivated to hurry when backed up. Some examiners are nice. But some are uncomfortable. Teenagers especially, are already nervous. Being nice and courteous especially working places like the DMV. read more

DMV - Departments of Motor Vehicles Near Me - Clovis, California

This is the worst DMV that I have EVER been too! Employees take their time, I had to stand in line for 46 minutes just to get a number and I had to wait up to 3 hours for them to start calling my Letter "G" then another 2 hours for them to even call my number and I was number 16 when the lady told me it should not even take 2hours And it was just for a replacement of my California drivers licenses! This DMV is the worst one of them all. I've been to other DMVs where It took me just less then an hour to get my business done! Nice way to spend my day read more

Hooray for the self service vehicle sticker area, save countless hours to wait in line for a simple vehicle sticker

5 stars because I was in and out in 10 minutes!!!! Friendly and fast. Can't beat that.

We were here for 4 hours for a transfer of title & registration. I had to have my mom pick up my daughter from school because of them being unorganized here. The line for the registration machine was going out the door because people didn't know how to work the machine. Nobody there to help them till the end of the day which they only did so they could get people out at closing versus after midnight. They need somebody next to this machine because I sat for 4 hours watching people struggle for all different reasons. The most common being they came at deadline so they needed the other line with a number. Lots of people in line just to ask questions. They really need a person at the door like the post office or cell phone stores have. To ask what you're there for as you walk in to direct you to the forms area, the registration machine.. Answer your question etc The system right now is crazy unorganized for busy days with people waiting all that time in line to be told they need to go stand in a different line for a machine or they needed to come back with this form filled out or that.. Just felt terrible for them & it was that many more people ahead of me in line making the process slower for those of us ready to just pay or be directed to a machine etc. All my paperwork was done. I technically could have paid the lady that gave me my number and been out the door. I don't know why that's not a thing with technology we have today. Once at my window It took less than a minute to put the card in the card reader while the lady reached into a drawer for my stickers.. That was all I needed for a 4 hour wait!! We tried to get an appointment & their system was down so we just came in thinking 30-45 mins max like reviews suggested. They don't have all the windows open which was a huge issue. The workers moved like snails for the amount of traffic coming in through the door and they don't have enough parking spaces. We had to park across the street in front of the cvs, by Taco Bell. People with children & disabilities were in here and the kids were crying.. Wheel chairs and strollers blocking paths. Nothing they could do about it because they're there to be helped! with in and out service!!. We all just sat there while people supposed to be helping us chatted along to each other in a bigger space than we had in the waiting area. We were all smooshed together while they had frolic space. Irritating! .. The bathrooms were filthy and no toilet seat covers, door handles were caked with filth.. Toilet paper is on "we want you to use a piece of a sheet and half your hand to wipe" mode. It doesn't turn. You seriously have to push the roll up and turn it inch by inch. I was in there maybe 10 minutes just trying to roll out some decent toilet paper and somebody's child crawled under my stall door to make sure I was still alive.. Lol The seats in the waiting area were filthy. Don't drink out of the water fountain! Little kids were sticking their tongues in it and just seeing the cleanliness of the seats and bathrooms was enough for me to see of this "clean" building The building is newer than others but the seating is packed tight. Tight enough that the bigger people were leaving spaces of seats in between them so that their bottoms didn't touch each other. People were standing all over the place unable to sit.. Waiting outside even next to this huge display setup with a bunch of Jehovah's witnesses. Inside needed some Jesus. People were sick hacking all over the place. Nasty. It was truly the worst experience I've ever had at the dmv. They have windows in a u shape and there's no designated window for the numbers being called for any of the numbers. They were helping People at window 17, 11, 2, 3... I sat there in dread that I was going to have to jump up and hurdle over the 3 rows of chairs of people in front of me just to get out of the seating area just so I could bowling pin my way to a window to be there so they wouldn't ditch my number to call out the next . If you are on the opposite side of the room it takes you a while to just get out of the packed seating area if you are unfortunate enough to get a back or middle seat behind the front row. You have to squeeze past big people, lines full of people and strollers just to get around and the person at the window says to you "number.. Ticket?" all agitated and rushing like you're holding them up. are you serious??? You make me wait 4 hours.. I put that thing in my purse the first hour.. I'm not holding some lame piece of paper in my hand for 4 hours. Bad enough my forms were getting all crushed in my purse because I didn't want to drop anything in there if called up. They need serious changes to better organize their environment. I would have this organized in an hour. It's laziness so they can stretch out their hourly pay and not have to pay more help. I don't want to ever come back to this place. Worst experience ever. DMV read more

Iv been to some bad dmv's in SoCal and this one is clean. But I think it's funny that we praise this place for being clean it should be!! The service is some what fast and there is a few nice people there. But as a whole there disrespectful to the citizens that pay there taxes to them! One example a "lady" named ruby that does the morning line sorting out front. She's sooo rude I don't understand why she thinks she can act like this to us who pay her!! An elderly man tried to ask a question and she stopped him mid sentence and said "I'm not answering questions!" WHAT!!! Are you kidding me. I can understands asking him to give her a second to get organized. What happen to respect? These are our grandmas and grandpas being treated like animals. The people in line where all in a good mood and conversing it's the workers crap attitude that makes people upset and unhappy. SO REMEMBER REMINE THESE PEOPLE WHO THEY WORK FOR AND be polite about it ;) read more

They need more registration tag kiosks. Long wait can be shorter with more kiosks. Typical govt inefficiency.

So it's cleaner than the others, not that much people but still the wait is long because there are people who works there just walking around with nothing better to do while the rest of us waits forever. They were letting people cut infront of me just because their appointment was before me, excuse me.. Show up earlier next time. Plus there is a rude ass dude working there giving me attitude. No need to be an ass when I was being polite asking a simple question, because being rude gets you a bad review. read more

Nice people but that's about it. Super inefficient. Worst DMV wait time ever and that's saying something. I've been here since 9 am and it's now 2 pm...and I'm still waiting. I wasn't able to renew my registration online because the dmv had a record that the car was registered in another state even though it's never left my possession and the car was registered last year correctly...no changes. Worst!!! read more

I had an appointment at this location to get replacement tags. When I arrived the lady at the front desk called me up and she talked to me in a way that made me feel like she thought that I was beneath her or something. She was so rude I was shocked the way she talked to me. So unhelpful and short I couldn't ask a question because she just cut me off and tried to get rid of me. I asked for her name but was only given her "employee number" which was 26. I submitted a comment card but just in case that gets ignored I had to write this review. She treated me awful. I understand she deals with a lot of people all day everyday but that's your job. Somebody needs some remedial customer service training this was unacceptable! One better note, the girl in the next window was kind and very helpful. Thank you for making my experience a little better after the horrible rude lady. read more

Our overall experience at the Clovis DMV was good. It did take a fairly long time, but after reading the other reviews, we planned for it to take a long time. We opted not to schedule an appointment as we could not get anything earlier than 2:00 pm, and many of the reviews stated that it took just as long with an appointment as without. I went on a Tues morning to do my driver's license only and it took about an hour and a half (check-in, take the test, photo). At the suggestion of a DMV employee, we came back on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm to do my husband's driver's license and register/title both of our cars. This took approximately 3 hours total - however the longest part was waiting for a DMV employee to come out and verify our vehicles. If you can get that taken care of first, the whole registration/title process should go quicker. Overall the employees were nice, friendly and helpful. Things to remember to help speed up the process: (1) Complete your driver's license application online before you go to the DMV, (2) Have all of your identification, proof of residency, and title/smog etc...ready. Even if you have been married for 20 years, you still have to bring your marriage certificate to verify your name change (if you are getting a new license or moving from another state). (3) If you are moving to CA from another state like we were, they will fine you if you don't get your cars registered within 20 days - it's a one time fee, but we still had to pay an extra $200 because we were past the 20 day limit. read more

Amazingly slow! This people are the worst dmv employees ever! Most of them walking and scratching their ass!

Well, it's still a Dmv, but it's sure moving a heck of a lot faster than the one on siera, it's worth the extra gas, in my opinion, to save three hours read more

Never in a million years did I think I would rate a DMV as a 5 star place. Like most, I've had my fair share of awful DMV encounters -- dealing with their long lines, rude employees, and overall just watching idiotic bureaucracy unfold while our tax dollars are endlessly wasted. However with this legacy in mind, I was delightfully surprised after my visit this office on January 19th, 2018 with no appointment (since they're booked for several weeks in advance.) I arrived at 7:35am on a rainy Friday (25 minutes before they open) and the line outside was already significant -- I was 16th in line. As opening-time approached, the line stretched around the corner of the building behind me. The first person who greeted us came out before doors opened to organize the line and separate people who have appointments and driving tests. Now I was maybe 12th in line. After getting inside, another "usher" came by the non appointment line distributing clipboards and any necessary paperwork so that by the time we finished filling it out, we'd be to the front of the line to get a number. I got a number (B004) and took a seat. B001, B002, and B003 were called nearly immediately, and then a bunch of other numbers in no apparent order. I knew that when they eventually got back to the B's I would be next. After waiting for about 15 minutes, my number was called. The lady who helped me register my newly purchased vehicle was helpful and answered my questions. She also reciprocated the kindness I always try to extend to employees who undoubtedly take a lot of abuse every day. Walked out of the building at 8:37am, nearly an hour after arriving. Aside from registration costing an outrageous $360 for a vehicle that's only worth 2 grand, I don't have any real complaints. As other users have stated, there is a lot of ambient stress that comes with knowing you have to go to the dreaded DMV, but at least they are making somewhat of an attempt to streamline the process. My advice: show up early before they open... Grab a McMuffin or something and wait outside for a few to save yourself hours in the long run. read more

I was very impress how clean and friendly the staff our i didnt hve an appointment i was only there 30 min which was great for me

I had to come in today to do a renewal on my license. I had made an appointment and was seen pretty fast. I had already gotten my real ID so just needed a normal renewal. I was seen by Jeanette. She was so pleasant and helped me out tremendously when we ran into some issues with the renewal process. I have had some disappointing interactions with workers at DMVs before but she was wonderful! If this were the type of service I received every time I go into a DMV, I wouldn't dread it so much! read more

The employees here are much much less than helpfully and are already in a bad mood by 9 am. I'm not usually one to complain. But when I stand in line for over an hour and then finally get to the front and ask if I can use my friends number that I had to leave early (but was here for the same reason I was) and you SNATCH it out of my hands and give me a nasty look and say no, I feel I need to say something. There was no need to be so rude. I could've just waited for the number to come up and then just go to that window. But instead, I waited in line to ask if it was ok. I understand you may not like your job and you may have to put up with a lot of crap, but that's no reason to take it out on someone else. I completely believe that had someone else had been at the desk when I asked that question it wouldn't of been a problem. I work in the customer service industry as well, so I understand frustration, but you were just mean and rude! Hispanic guy in his late 40's-50's with glasses, plaid shirt with black vest at the "start here" window. Maybe if you were nicer to people you wouldn't be so obviously unhappy and feel the need to take it out on others and try to ruin their day. We all have jobs we don't always like. If you hate yours that much, maybe it's time to find a new one. read more

Very pleased with this place - the employees were awesome and helpful. No complaints here! And for those who claim Clovis is the tougher place to take the drivers' test and that they "pride themselves on failing teen drivers the first time," that's just wrong! Highly recommend read more

I wasn't certain what to expect, but I was in and out in under 15 minutes! I would strongly encourage you to make an appointment online FIRST as when I arrived, there was only one person ahead of me in the "Made-An-Appointment" line but tons of folks in the "No Appointment" line. Also, ensure you bring your driver's license renewal document with you--the one the DMV will send you as the date of your driver's license expiration draws closer. I didn't and had to fill out another document, but they were so fast that I didn't have the document completed before they called my number, so I had to sit back down until I finished the form! Jordan was AWESOME. She was very helpful, very friendly (I think she sits at Window #16). Everyone behind the counter seemed very busy but willing to assist. All in all, a surprisingly pleasant experience as DMVs go! read more

I was notified that I would have to renew in person due to having renewed online my previous two times. Also, I needed to renew in person to get the "Real ID." I wasn't able to make my appointment and ended up going in today - 4-12-19 just days before my license expires. I arrived at 12:30ish in the afternoon on Friday. The building was half-empty and I was the second person in the "non-appointments" line. After being checked in by a very courteous and helpful customer service rep, I had to wait until my number was called - it was about 10 numbers from the current version. My number was called almost exactly an hour after my arrival and my paperwork was concluded within 6 or 7 minutes! I'd say time from arrival to walking out was no more than an hour and 15 minutes! Everyone was calm and courteous and quite helpful! The staff at the Clovis DMV office deserve a hearty word of praise for how they are doing business! read more

The tall 50-60 year old lady with short black hair that sits in the front for vehicle documents was so rude! She doesn't deserve to sit there. If talking about inviting, she has no sense of it but instead talks with attitude and rude remarks and comments to make you look dumb. I've always liked this dmv in the past because there were actually a few of them who did not treat you as someone who's looked down upon. This lady right here ruined it because CUSTOMER SERVICE was EXCEPTIONALLY POOR! If negatives exist, I would rate her a -10 on performance! Please evaluate review on your staffs work ethics and performance because the community is also an important figure! Not just the staff! At least have he younger generation replace these folks! read more

First of all, the lines are packed and the waiting is just horrifying, it makes everyone want to get up and leave. The staff just takes their time using up the hours to get paid, but don't specifically ever help anyone. Everyone at the dmv is absolutely rude. Never want to go back here again. I had to take my written permit test and i went to the front counter to ask if i can take the available computer open, and the lady at the desk says of course yes. Then i head over there and some guy tells me i cannot absolutely at all do it on computer and it's "called a written test for a reason." and i'm over here saying "but the lady told me to come over here to the the test on the computer like everyone else." and he keeps asking me questions testing me to see if i needed to take on computer or on paper. i said computer the first few times and he got absolutely so frustrated and angry and he kept repeating the question. so then i just said to take it on paper. then i went to the front desk to tell the lady to give it to me on paper. and she looked at me knowing she told me to go on computer, and i said that guy over there did not let me take it on computer, he said to keep taking it on paper. i was so frustrated. she went to go talk to the man, and the best part was that he blamed it on me. so unbelievable this pissed me off to the max. she asked is there a reason why you didn't let this young lady take the take on the computer. then the guy goes "she wanted it on paper and kept telling me she wanted it paper for the written test." NO I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT. i was extremely angry and he turned the situation on me. the lady then told me to come here and i was able to take the test. the guy was walking around me starting at me like a hawk and i did not pass. i was very uncomfortable and nervous with him just standing next to me. i never want to go back here or experience that ever again. i probably should have studied more and concentrated but it was very uncomfortable and i was just rushing to get out of the building. if i can review this a -10 star out of 5, i would. read more

Brutal, absolutely brutal. Hasn't technology advanced to the point where it's unnecessary to have to sit with the scum of the earth and fill out paperwork? Since when is visiting a government establishment a memorable experience. I don't even think I have to write about this...but I am. Lets start off with how ghetto their customer service is, they make you wait for what seems like an eternity and then you get attitude from an overworked disgruntle employee. I can't stand the DMV and how they feel they don't have to provide quality service because we have no other choice. Its not like we can just go down to the local Target and get a license. They provide an essential job function and we as the tax payers don't get service with a smile. I'm seriously hoping they put more of their services online so I can avoid having to deal with dramatic "employee of the month" attitudes. Another thing that really annoys me is how the windows are not private and your personal information is divulged within ear shot of other customers. There is this lady on window 3 and if you can avoid her please do, she shouts information out and has a real bad bed side manner. I'm hoping she gets fired cause her personality and customer service is very demeaning and unprofessional. A lot of people think I'm hard on local businesses but honestly I just want them to succeed and listen to our thoughts because they are valid. read more

I went to this DMV to do my behind the wheel test and I had a wonderful experience. The instructor was so nice and very easy going. I was super nervous and she made me feel less anxious when taking the exam. I recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a place to take their behind the wheel test since it was pretty easy. The only downside to this place is that it took a while for the actual test to begin since they were a lot of people taking the test that day as well. I would recommend going early if you don't want to wait. Anyways loved this place and totally recommend! read more

Just experienced the worst treatment of humans in a very long time due to the red queen of the department. The senior of senior office managers treated not only my son horrible but in the 2.5 hours we were there we were witnesses to her snide, belittling, behavior to countless others. How someone with her lack of patience and outright meanness can be in a leadership position is a mystery. She should be setting an example of humanity not abusing the public. I had an appointment for a Real ID. Had to wait 25 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Ok, no big deal. My number was called to go to window 20. I was sitting right at window 20! Boy was I lucky! When I got to the counter, he said what are you here for? I said a Real ID.The man then asked me if I had all my required documents. I did and handed all items to him. But when the gentleman started to review them, he couldn't have moved any slower. He held my papers, looked around at all the others waiting, stared at his computer screen, stared at another customer waiting, then look up at the computer board, and then slowly move my papers from one area of his desk top to the other area! I guess I shouldn't have been surprised since he had a green t-shirt on that said "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" with holes and stains! After him getting side tracked and moving so slow (28 minutes with him!) he told me that I had to go over to window 2 to take a new picture. That gentleman was dressed professionally, got me in and out, and very friendly! I then had to drive by the DMV again at 6:00pm and oh my gosh, there were still so many vehicles in the parking lot! I think the staff purposely moves slow so they can get paid over time! read more
