PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GET IN LINE. SCAN PICTURE BEFORE YOU GET TO CLOVIS DMV. ALSO, remember these people don't want to work here. SO BE NICE, THROW A BUNCH OF "SUGAR" at them ... Make sure you check in with the attached SCAN picture before you get in line. They no longer check you in as you walk in... This is sad, before you would stand in line, get help and then get sent to the appropriate window or get a ticket , NOPE. Got here super early at 7:15 to wait in line. We were told it didn't matter what position you had to check in via a scan piece of paper before you could even get a number. A DMV representative came out and said that we had to scan in order to get a window number and then kept directing people to go online, they literally did not want you to come into the office. It was some real simple DMV work, which included registration and drivers license and when I finally got up to the window, another person told me I could've done it online. I explained I wasted numerous hours trying to do it online and their website did not work. I finally got it done but not before realizing DMV is worse than ever. Why have an office if you don't help people. Plus when we checked at 8, of the 20 something windows, only 4 employees were working!!! FOUR... This is typical right now of the state of California and Department of motor vehicles. I do not want you to do anything in person. They want you to do everything online because, let's just call it what it is, they are more lazier than a person collecting welfare walking out to the mailbox to get their check. ( wait welfare now direct deposits the money). For people without computers or laptops or cell phones, especially elderly people, you have to go all the way back to Window A to fill everything online at their office and then get in line.. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR CONFIRMATION NUMBER!! So make an appointment, make sure you bring all your proper paperwork, including stuff they don't tell you about, and it'll go a lot faster. You're gonna meet the same attitude for an employees cause most of them do not want to be there.. read more

DO NOT go wait in line in the morning, it will make 0 difference on where you will actually end up in line. You simply need to show up 10 min before open and scan the QR code as soon as the security guard walks out with the sign. Or you can get in line on the DMV website when it becomes available (at open). This was the best DMV experience I've ever had. It was fast, efficient, and the staff member resolved my issue! I was in and out in 30 minutes with no appointment which has to be some kind of record! read more

I needed tags for our vehicle & what sucks I was in line seems like forever!! They need 2 kioskes not one when people are trying to do different things .. renewing license, tags, non opp.. or whatever. I didn't know how to use this thing & others didn't really ether so holds line back & the workers there don't help. So I'm not a fan of DMV I only got to the one for truckers which I have a class A license but when it comes to renewing the cars I try do it on line. read more

Say what you wil about the DMV, but I have only had good expeiencss at the Clovis location. l end up having to go in on average once every seven years or so. I went a few days ago with three issues to be taken care of. I had an appointment and my required paperwork in hand. I was in and out in 20 minutes and everyone was polite, even pleasant. It's not somewhere I want to go per se, but next time I have to maybe I shouldn't enter with a feeling of dread. read more

Okay so it's the dmv. It was a very very long wait. Couldn't make an appointment online because there was no appointment for what I needed service for. Definitely make an appt. I was there for 3 hours. The 2 people I was helped by were gracious, professional, helpful. They are great! But the system is flawed, they need like 5 people checking in non appt people and giving them numbers not 1. Have questions ask me. But make an appt. read more

Long wait and very unprofessional workers. Than again all dmvs are like this doesn't surprise me.

DO NOT GO TO THIS DMV, I was on the second question of my permit test when I got a text that my grandmother was in the hospital dying. I didn't touch my phone it was on the desk right where the lady who worked there said it was fine to be placed. All I did was look at my phone reading the text, didn't even touch my phone It was face up. Another lady came and made me quit the test and said I was cheating- she didn't try to hear me out even when I showed her proof and the picture I was sent of my own grandmother laying in the hospital. I had to get back in line and she raised her voice at me to tell me no phones are allowed, that I was still cheating, and that I will need to pay to restart the whole process. What an ugly acting staff and establishment... treat people with respect and empathy. DO NOT go to this dmv read more

Zero stars if I could. The heavy set bald guy that wears a Mexican flag as a face cover is rude and unprofessional. Showed up when my number was called and he instantly helped out a lady that he intended to flirt with right in front of me and once he was done. I have definitely had a worse experiences at the DMV, but this was still awful. My biggest complaint is that they don't tell you, if you pay for your fees ahead of time, via their website, you can't actually visit the DMV for at least two days after. The reason for this is your payment has to process first before it will pop up in their system. Huh? It's 2023, you need 48-hours to process payment? So after waiting 20 minutes, even with an appointment, I was told to come back two days later so they could actually start my new DL paperwork. When I told the teller that nowhere online does it state this info she agreed with me. In fact, she told they have been telling their superiors for years to fix the issue, but still nothing has been done. Woof! The teller then told me she would make notes in the computer stating that I had made my payment online, provided all the proper documents, and even took the online written exam. Which we also found out that I didn't need to take the test because I had lived in California previously. It also doesn't say anything about that online. Anyway, when I showed up two days later, none of those notes from my previous visit were noted in the computer. Thankfully, I decided to bring all of my paperwork with me just Incase or I would have been back for a third time. I've lived in California (in total) longer than any other state in the US and the DMV has always been such a pain in the butt. From San Diego to Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo and now Clovis. I wonder if it will ever get better? read more

I accompanied a disabled person to Clovis DMV that needed to replace his lost ID. Went to the front desk and was told by a very annoyed employee that he would have to complete an online application before being helped. He has no computer or tablet just a flip phone. She said oh well. I said this is a disabled 73 yr old, there must be a self service kiosk within the office for customers who do not have the appropriate device She said nope and called up the next customer. I stayed with him while he used my phone to complete the online questions. We were back in line a few hours later when I heard another clerk offer a customer with a flip phone access to their computer to complete the online questions. I inquired of that employee about that service and found we were misinformed by the employee at the front desk. I stayed and spoke to the manager and was advised that the front desk should have directed him to the kiosk. The manager apologized but I'm deeply upset that a deaf and disabled person would be treated with such disrespect. If I wasn't there to translate he would have been turned away and denied services that are available to him by our tax dollars The front desk employee was incredibly rude and inpatient. She only wanted to move the line and could care less about providing accurate information . I gave 2 stars for the professionals that took the extra seconds needed to help Zero stars for the low performing employee at the front "information" desk. read more

Staff does not know what is correct and incorrect and go from window to window asking for help. Noticed two elders be yelled at by the front desk girl, and was just not comfortable to the rest of the public waiting in the lobby. The woman working TODAY (I spoke with her exactly at 12PM and was hoping I could educate her a bit on customer service, once I came through the line, but she left for lunch at 1 ((conveniently as I got called next)) at the very front (left desk as you walk in) was inconsiderate and rude. She spoke to me in a manner that shocked me and caught me off guard. I'm clearly still baffled at the interaction. I heard multiple employees interact with multiple customers and if anything, it was said straightforward and with a "foot-down" tone (that's fine); however, my experience felt personal. Had I been rude with the employee, I could have understood her tone and choice of words but I hadn't been to the DMV in over 10 years. I was told by a friend, who had been there recently, that she was accepted on the appointment side when applying for the REAL ID online. I tried to show her the papers with a confirmation code, to clarify further and she became irritable with me, glanced at my paper, and stated "I just see a piece of paper." She kept asking if I had an appointment. How are you going to WORK at the DMV and be the impatient one? Maybe instead of copping an attitude and spending more time to use poor choice of words towards me - be an empath, show kindness and do your job respectfully. It was giving....my job is hell so I'm going to make this moment with you feel the same way. I understand that DMV employees deal with a LOT of rude people and maybe even silly questions. But I NEVER go to the DMV if I don't have to! Like I said previously I hadn't been in over 10 years (still have my 16 years old permit picture on my license - I'm 30 now) whereas this employee is probably working every day. Instead of becoming irritable and frustrated, educate people RESPECTFULLY. Thankfully, my day was brightened by the woman working the photo area. Had a really frustrating experience at this DMV. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude and dismissive for no reason. I came in prepared and respectful, but was met with a bad attitude and zero willingness to help. If customer service is part of the job, then basic courtesy should come with it. Easily the most ineffective place on earth with the slowest and laziest set of employees. Pick a different DMV, you will waste a day of your life here and possibly get a heatstroke. 1. We get here at 7.30 am, 30 minutes before opening - at which time there is a large number of people waiting outside, surrounding the building. We are moving at a slow paced line for 3.5 hours, with employees only coming out to ask people if they experience covid symptoms or had to quarantine, they take your temperature, ask you questions about why you are there. Nothing moving. At noon, after standing in the sun for 4-5 hours, standing as there is no seating really, another random lady comes out saying the line will slow down (even more) now and to make an appt if possible. She comes over and we explain that the appointment system keeps failing, the verification via Id.me wasn't working online, we tried different combinations. She starts instructing us on a different set of concoctions of buttons to press, that had nothing to do with the reason for the visit. HOW WOULD A PERSON KNOW TO PRESS FOR B IF THEY ARE THERE FOR A??? We are there so that our niece can take her permit test, however the appointment only works through the Drivers License Renewal button, not through any other option. We get an appt finally for 2.20 (it's noon), so we leave and come back. Stand in line some more, this time in the appointment line. We get in and are being told to send a minor in alone, to which we object. I end up being allowed to go in with her. 12 people ahead of us. Out of the 25 something windows they have in this DMV, there were maybe 4 workers assisting people at them. The ones that were "assisting people" took their sweet time, on basic ish, and then also chatted it up with multiple individuals about "shot glasses" and "summer trips" and so forth. All while seeing people outside in the scorching heat not moving forward an inch in line. Especially window #18, a middle aged woman with reddish/grey hair, was discussing so many personal things with a customer, the same customer.. who was there to initially just change the title or address or something on a car. She spoke to the guy for 25 minutes + , while there are only 3 other working windows, probably doing the same thing with the other customers. Eventually it is our turn, she takes her sweet time as well. She tells us the fee, we pay , she says she needs to get change and walks away for another 5 minutes. She comes back and opens a drawer and takes the money out of there, for which she said she had to leave, but seemingly she just went to chat it up with a coworker. This is probably the longest, worst dmv experience i have ever had, coming from DMV's in LA that are much busier than this but handle things comparably better than Fresno does. Stay away, go to the one on Blackstone or Olive. TIP: Make an appointment at any cost. Pick different button combinations til it works, even if it is not the reason for your visit. The appointment line moves much quicker, though once you get an actual number assigned you will still be in there for hours because people aren't really in a rush. I was there at 8 am left at 3:00 pm spent the whole day there just to register my car I kept every employee say online people were sent to the kiosk after waiting forever in line or sent home to use. Online service. Talk about people not wanting to work. I don't know how much education they have did they even graduate from high school or even make it through high school. These employees are the perfect example of living life in the lowest moral and institution. This where you take your kids and show them how much higher education is a necessity. Your system of having one person handle everyone coming through the door is not efficient. The line is way too long before we can take a seat. I am 74 years old and not disabled, but it is very difficult to stand over 2 hours in line! Then a rude person took the mic and advised everyone who is there for drivers license renewal or registration to get out of line and go to the kiosk. I tried to ask her if that applies to 70 + persons but she would not answer until I reached her from the line. So I tried the kiosk and it told me I could not renew my license from the kiosk. Thanks a lot rude lady. Now I have to go back another day and stand for 2 hours. read more

Ooof it's really bad without an appointment and a little less bad with an appointment. Just know ahead of time that you'll need like 2+ hours of free time to accomplish what you intend to accomplish. No criticism for the employees who are doing the best they can with what they have. Bring your headphones or a book and a lot of patience. read more

The most disorganized chaos I've seen in a long time and the building is flat out filthy dirty. The DMV seems to offer less services and have less staff every time I go. This visit required a last min visit. The online portal offered no appointments for the services I needed and it was not something offered on-line. I arrived when the doors opened. I stood in line for an hour outside in the cold. Once inside I had another hour wait in line. While I was waiting inside, the "clerk" serving the non-appointment line made an announcement of the services they no longer provide at the window. Specific services were now only available at the Kiosk or by mail. One of the items I needed was a vehicle history. A limited one was offered at the Kiosk, WHICH WAS BROKEN. A full history was only available by mail. I continued to wait in line. Reaching the window the clerk was polite and helped with my issue. She gave me a list with locations of additional Kiosks. She sought out help from a manager that looked up my vehicle history and offered additional research. I was given a number and took a seat. When my number was called the next clerk was also helpful and friendly. She did some research on micro film and researched my issue. In the end she was not able to resolve my issue, but gave me the documents and steps I needed to make to take care of it. Unfortunately it means another trip back to the DMV. Over all, my visit took a little over 3 hours for 15 min of service. The two clerks and manager that assisted me, were doing their jobs in a professional and friendly manner. That is the only reason I even gave two stars. The negative was the lack of organization. The DIRTY and cluttered environment. The only source (the Kiosk) to process simple documents was broken. The time to get more complex documents by mail is un-expectable in our digital society. The wait time and location of the line. It was an absolute cluster. People were coming in and out and joking around while they waited with friends. There was no clear direction or signage of a line. The lack of staff that appeared to be working was frustrating. Staff milling around in the back chatting and laughing with each other. However, I witnessed the clerk next to the one helping me, raise his voice to customers. He was rude and disrespectful. The place really needs a deep clean and an overhaul in organization, from how they serve the public to what windows can preform which task. Maybe even a wall to hide the clutter and staff that don't appear to be working. read more

This place is terrible. My daughter had a driving test appointment. We go in and there are no signs by the door where the driving test line is. We get on appointments line which is long. We were 30 minutes early. After standing 20 minutes, the guy tells us we need to be at the different line in the back of the office. We get there , now we still have 5 minutes. I accidentally grabbed the wrong insurance card, the lady very rude tells us we need another appointment. I asked her to give me a minute while my husband is getting txting me the correct card. She says no, you are late for appointment. The manager comes and even worse. We are on time with everything they needed and still they didn't let us in. Then they say go sit in a back, if we have a no show we will let you in. But this was only to make fun of us. We sat until 4, during that time they turned back several people and still didn't let us in. All 3 ladies, 2 managers and an employee created this gang and there is no supervision. I filed a complaint, but of course no response. We made appointment to Fresno location and it was great experience. read more

I came to Clovis DMV on Saturday 2/22/20 as I needed to get my tags for my Princess Mobile. I am happy that DMV is now open on Saturdays as I remember during the recession phase they were closed on weekends to save money. I had a pleasant experience the day I went in as I didn't have to wait nor did I have to speak to an DMV employee which is probably why this review is like 4 stars! Almost a perfect 5 star review but that would be too impressive for DMV! Anywho I walked in and went right to the self serve kiosk which was so confusing as the language selected was Chinese -_- and I couldn't change it until I was pressing random buttons and I managed to press English by chance! No biggy, so I proceeded to attempt to pay my tags with Kiosk #1. Which totally was not having it as it refused to take my debit card -_- so after 10 minutes it prompt me to go speak to someone at the counter, HECK NO! So I moved to Kiosk #2 which didn't give me any problems like Kiosk #1 did. English was already selected and it took my payment with no problems at all. And it gave me my tags immediately. So something is wrong with Kiosk #1 which if I listened to it would have sent me to wait in the LONG line just to pay for tags. I know I also could have went to AAA to pay them as well but they don't print out your license plate number on the tags like DMV does. Overall, I had a very good experience at this DMV. I always feel like the Clovis DMV is the best in the Fresno/Clovis area. I feel it's less packed too. Very spacious and clean inside we well. I highly recommend! read more

I swear the front desk lady has to be one of the rudest people ever. As if the rest of the dmv workers aren't rude enough, she takes the icing on the cake. I went today for a Real ID and I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Fill out the paperwork online, print out the things you need and walk to the front of the APPOINTMENT line - even though you can't actually make an appointment. This is the important part for the real ID: the paperwork you print out says to go to the appointment line and, again, even though you can't make an appointment for this just go to the front of the line. DO NOT WAIT in the long line. They checked me in right away while the people without an appointment were wrapped around the building. I had an appointment at 9:30 and it still took forever. The lady at the front desk that helps you check in is absolutely rude. She's older heavier set wears glasses and has brown hair. She talks to you like you are stupid. I would give this one star but the reason I'll give it three stars is because I encountered two lovely ladies that worked there. I had to get in line again to check in because I didn't have my eight digit code so I went back the second time and it was a different lady helping me and she was so sweet she has a lip piercing that's all I can remember her by. And the second lady took my picture for my ID. She had black hair and she wore glasses. They were the sweetest as for the old hag at the front desk. I would give this office negative stars if I could. I'm also basing this review on multiple situations over the past 10 years. Here goes: Avoid this location like your life depends on it. The employees here exemplify the problem with career public service; they're ineffective, complacent, and unable/ unwilling to solve ANY problems you may have. I don't care if a few of them do it with a polite smile, the end result is what matters. Customer service is non existent in the public sector altogether, these people specifically wouldn't last a week in a private sector, merit based career. Do yourself a favor and go to the Olive or Blackstone offices. It's further away, but your sanity will thank you for it. read more

I have been to this DMV twice in 10 years and both times I've had a super great experience! Most recently was today, a very hot day in the middle of August. My persona is friendly, kind and I try to be a little funny ... I do not present with an attitude or show annoyance. I DID have an appointment and I DID do my renewal for a REAL ID application ahead of time as required. I walked right up to the appointment line without wait and the man behind the window was friendly and easy going. I had about a 10 minute wait after my actual appointment was scheduled. Looking around, I noticed the entire place was clean, spacious, the AC was cool and the customers were all quietly waiting for their turn. The woman at Window 5 was super nice and did my vision test, took my papers and I paid my fee without incident! At a separate camera line for my required new picture, the employee was also super nice! We joked about how there are no peeks at your photo or retakes because it would just take longer for everyone. My husband had an appointment at the same time as I did, for a new REAL ID. He also had an efficient, swift experience and we were both home exactly 1 hour from our appointment times! Great job Clovis! read more

If i could leave a negative, i would. I've heard so many great things about this place, how they are nice and respectful. as a first time driving, i was excited to take my behind the wheel. i went here because i've been here before for other things and i had no problem. But i was wrong to come here to take my behind the wheel, i believe her name was tanisha or something along the lines. she was rude, mean and overall not someone who should be a instructor for behind the wheel test. She did not explain to me what i did wrong, and also was very rude to my driver who i had with me at the time. She yelled at me for not going 40 in a school zone and also got upset when i went into a bike line and crossed the line. she said it was illegal when it isn't. i don't know if she was having a bad day or if that's how she treats every first time driver. read more
