Wait times are horrible, lines are long, staff seems impatient just your typical DMV. This one is cleaner than others I have been to. Parking is always full so I usually just park on the side street. Their signs regarding lines are very confusing. Red carpets are for appointments apparently so there is no sign lol. They have their ac running which makes waiting better in this summer heat! Make appointments!! Otherwise you're waiting hours :) read more

All the agents were very professional and pleasant. I was super stressed going to the DMV to renew my license, not knowing what I would have to go through, but even though it took about an hour, in the end I realized it wasn't so bad. The people I dealt with were efficient and polite. So happy to be done and grateful for people who went above and beyond. Kudos to all the people working in such a stressful environment. read more

Very well run, practicing social distancing, friendly service... Just be sure to make an appointment.

Could the security guard be any ruder? I just asked for the drop box and he was rude and condescending. Ugh! As if DMV doesn't get a bad rap anyway. read more

Just got back from renewing my drivers license for a Real ID. Walked in the door at 2:06pm and out at 3:16pm. The appointment line had one person ahead of me and my next window was empty, except me of course. The only time I stood in line was for the written test but with two employees working the line it went fast. Only drawback was the testing area. It got backlogged with all the people flunking the test, two and three times. Other than that it was an excellent experience. All DMV employees were helpful and professional, considering all the different people they have to deal with daily. I commend them on a great job! read more

I just want to say what a pleasant experience it was to be helped by Colton today!!! He was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable with all the questions I had.... and trust me I had maaaany questions. Thanks Colton for your superior, quality customer service!!! The DMV could use many more people like you. read more

Ok its the DMV. Enough said but come on DMV you can try. Well I've been here several times on a Sat super early like 7am to get in line. They get me in and out. The window person treats me normal. Not super but all passing in customer service. My prob is the attitude of the guy who moves grps before the DMV opens. Same guy every time. If you're out there sorting ppl be nicer. Every time Ive been there he's not rude but very borderline. He's terse with a hint of condescending-ness. He comes out tells everyone "Id and DL" this way, "registration" stay here. Someone asked what about sticker replacement? He just repeats the same but louder with his back turned and half way back into the building. He comes back 5 or so mins later..."ID and DL this side of the building?"....I asked what about lost plates? He says, "I said ID or DL this side of the building". While half way back into the building with his back turned. Instead of answering the way he did he could of said plates are a part of registration...youre good. Similar amount of breath. Its DMV he has to be almost rude. DMV if your goal is to have this guy sort the line then teach him a lil customer service but maybe thats not your philosophy. So advice if that guy is reading this...doesnt hurt to be a lil pleasant and if youre alrdy going to reply why not give the answer...a simple "your good in that line" works. read more

super fast and easy to retrieve my real id information! the male i spoke to was well educated and knew exactly what he was helping me with!

Not only do you have to wait 3 hours in a line of only 10-12 people, you're greeted by rude and disrespectful employees. As I'm waiting in the line, without an appointment because they don't take it for why I'm there, I see the employee who's going to come help our line to move it faster. She waffles about for 30 minutes: comes sit down, gets back up and just walks around and around until she decides she needs to work. Finally she sits down and immediately to the next person " I called next 3 times are you listening? Can you hear properly?" Whatever finally it's my turn, she asks why I'm there, I reply I need to renew my DL. Immediately without any chance for me to continue " we only do that online we don't take that in office anymore". Where if you gave me the chance to explain it explicitly says I'm not eligible for online only renewal, an office visit is required. She is adamant that's not the case, that I need to show proof but she doesn't have the time for to log in and show her so instead I should take my ass out of line go take the minute to screenshot the proof and then hop in the appointment line. WHICH IS NOW JUST AS LONG AS THE NON APPOINTMENT. I get up there, and guess what? You don't have an appointment I can't help you, normally if we tell you to come here we give you an additional slip and stamp it so others know. The DMV is slow, rude, and ridiculous. read more

Being the expert procrastinator that I am, I waited until the last possible moment to renew my license. It just happened to also be the same day as my best friend's wedding. Where was the wedding? Clovis, where else? I mean who wouldn't want to get married there?? Thankfully the wedding was in the evening, so time wasn't an issue. I rolled into the DMV around 11 AM. Now had I done this in my present locale, San Diego, I wouldn't have gotten out of there until the sun was going down. Clovis though? No line whatsoever. I strolled right to the counter, lady gave me a #. Less than a minute later, funky automated voice called out my # and told me to go another desk. Went to the desk, filled out a form or two, got my picture taken. I was done by 11:20. Pretty damn awesome. The building looks pretty new too. Very clean, well-lit, and good layout. I highly recommend getting your DMV stuff done here. read more

Got two cars registered. Don't go anywhere else if you need your car registered and tagged.

Worst dmv ever, never go here. the employees are slow and did not care. Today I had went and I had gotten sent to three different lines for a written test. While I was waiting the last time, the line had been long. The employee which was only one, had gotten up and left for 45 minutes. So the line kept growing bigger and bigger. read more

I went to the DMV to have my last name changed and to have an updated real ID with my new last name sent to me. I paid the fine, had my picture taken, and was in and out pretty quick. I just received my license in the mail, and guess what? It is not a real ID, which is what I paid for. I don't know why every time I go to the DMV, I either deal with rude or worthless service representatives that are not helpful and don't take pride in their job. Now I have to schedule another appointment, which isn't for another month, because I can't get a hold of any representatives over the phone. Thank you so much for wasting my time! read more

I don't know understand why DMV personal are telling drivers that if their services require a in person visit they need to make an appointment. Fact: appointments aren't available at this time Question: if restaurants and other places are opening up how come the DMV is lagging behind in non-appointment services. we don't know how long the quarantine will last. THE DMV IS A GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHMENT IF THE POST OFFICE IS OPEN HOW COME THE DMV IS HAVING SUCH A HARD TIME DEALING WITH THIS? read more

Everyone inside of the office was perfectly fine, but the lady who was my behind the wheel test examiner was simply terrible. I was told that her name is Jill. She was writing something down so I figured she would finish up and greet me but no. Instead of greeting me she said in the rudest of tones "so you are just gonna pretend you don't notice me?" as if SHE wasn't the one coming up to MY car. I apologized and said i thought she was writing something and I didn't want to interrupt. She then berated my mother and I for not greeting her again. My mother then asked if she should get out if the car to which Jill snapped back with a "yes." She barked her orders at me throughout my time on the road with her and when we got back I discovered that I passed but she had wrongly marked me for not "looking over appropriate shoulder prior to lane change." This I did not do. In fact, I think it is impossible to do that. If you are going to take your behind the wheel test, don't do it here and if you end up with an overweight african american woman with poor fashion taste, kick her out the car and speed off. read more

Ok, seriously who looks forward to going to the DMV? I needed to renew my driver license and decided since I had to go in the office I'd upgrade it to a real ID. I started my application online, received a confirmation # and dreaded going to the DMV without an appointment. It was my fault though as I waited too long because I thought I'd be able to renew online. Anyway I decided to go on a Tuesday morning. Documents in tow I got there about 7:25 a.m, they open at 8:00, and by that time, as expected a small line was already formed. I got in line, and waited. I was #8 in line (not too bad) There were a couple of staff that begin to assist customers prior to the doors opening which helped. I will say the gal at the front entrance, checking people in though was not friendly. Like honey, you can be a little more personable, you are in customer service. Anyway, I got checked in and before I could even sit down I was being called to a window. Shout out to William who helped me! He was friendly and fast. Once inside I was out of there within 30 Mins. Woo hoo! Tips: Start an app on line (if you can) get there early, and have your docs ready. read more

There was a shit worker who worked in the front. He couldn't give me a second to ask my question before directing me to get in line. The fact that they aren't getting paid per question but hour by tax payers is even more stupid for him to act like a turd. My suggestion, act like they all don't know what the hell theyre doing, some of them probably have a hard time trying to figure out where they even are. Especially that turd working the front. He probably thinks he gets bonuses not answering questions. read more

Had an appointment today at 2:10. Arrived at 1:55. The first lady we encountered was semi nice. We had a seat. We were seen by another lady, who was rude. Should I have expected less from a government agency? Anyway, when all was said and done, we got out of there by 2:30. We still need to return to finish up, but I would definitely recommend making an appointment for any transaction at the DMV! read more

FYI: There is NO entrance on Shaw. You can only enter on Burl Ave (right across from CVS and the Shell station). I went there today and had this issue. I turned in at the first entrance I saw off of Shaw. By the time I had already started turning I noticed a small sign that said Exit Only. This DMV sets you up for a bad day before you even get in the door. I have no clue why their address is Shaw and not Burl. So again, DO NOT ENTER OFF OF SHAW! Hope this helps someone. read more

DMV doesn't fail to disappoint. Went in for Real ID and asked to have my street address put on ID. Even though they have my mailing address on record, they insist they must send it to my street address on the license, a rural address USPS has designated "undeliverable." (The entire town of Shaver Lake is considered "undeliverable.") The USPS will not deliver the ID because DMV refuses to send it to my mailing address on record. DMV has no problem sending my annual registration bill to the mailing address. Go figure. read more

So I went here expecting the worst and I was not disappointed. I usually go to AAA, so i haven't been in here in years, but had to go for my Daughter's driving permit test. We found out the hard way that there were two lines and we were in the wrong one. There are no signs of course. That would make too much sense. After all, it is our Government at work, so there is no incentive to do anything efficiently. Nor was there a person directing people to another line, as I have seen in some other posts I read. Perhaps they were off that day or on a much deserved break. After getting in the back of the other line, we followed by many others experiencing the same frustration we did. As we got closer to the front, one lady even asked the guy handing out tickets/numbers, why there were no signs directing people. His response was priceless..."I'm your sign" he said. It was a good thing my Daughter was there or I probably would have said something I regretted and have been politely escorted out. What a jerk. I think they seek out the rudest people in society and hire them. I will continue to avoid this place like the plague. It's nothing but a den of ineptitude. read more

I like that its really clean and on a nice part of town..but if you come without an appointment be prepared to wait about an hour and a half...I waited that long for my Renewal Drivers License...The people were nice, and friendly staff but if you want to be seen a little faster make an appointment at: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/dmv/onlinesvcs/appointment. Even if you get one a week or so ahead its worth it...Or whatever it is you need do it early, because i came at 9am when it opened and there was all ready a line forming...Only negative is the long lines...Overall good office. read more

We've only had 1 kind employee here. Wish I remembered his name. Everyone else- I mean EVERYONE else is so rude. One lady couldn't answer a yes or no question because she wasn't clocked in for 5 more minutes. They're all business here and not personable in the slightest. read more

Worst place for drivers testing, don't go here for your test. Eric automatically failed me "dangerous maneuver" because I didn't look over my left shoulder when I merged into the left only turn lane on Gettysburg to Armstrong. Gettysburg is one lane each way with sporadic center turn lanes to small street/drive ways. Before the Gettysburg & Armstrong intersection, the center turn lane stops, theres a break of at least 3 car length before the one lane separate into 3 lanes, left turn, straight & right turn. Eric the tester claims the left only turn lane is a center turn lane & I should have looked over my left shoulder before merging. I merged into the left lane when left turn only lane line appeared and not later. I have never seen a center turn lane at major intersections w/traffic light. read more

Went to take care of some business regarding my driver's license on 9/10/2021 around 9am. All went well, but this one particular young, female technician at window 000022 had a snobbish attitude. To her right was another male technician and a little ways down was the camera lady. She was super nice and professional, unlike the female technician mentioned above. I think the female technician assisting me needs to get off her high pedestal and treat the customers with a little more dignity and respect. After retiring 30 years at the Salinas DMV, some employees think they're above everyone else just by looking at their facial features and snobbish attitude. read more

I don't understand the bad reviews on this DMV in Clovis! I came here on Wednesday at 4:00 and there was no wait time for non appointment or appointment! The place was very clean and the service was extremely friendly! I came here to get my permit and I am blind as a bat and they really tried to help me pass! But alas I couldn't and now have to go to the optometrist :'( I even stayed overtime til 5:30 and they did not get angry! P.S they have waiting times for every dmv office online (never wait in long lines again!) read more

The electronic system is incompetent in receiving insurance update. I went to the office 3 times just to submit my verification in person because I was still waiting for my mail packet. Now that I got the proof it is on the due date and I'm still penalized for the reinstatement fee of $14. Well I'm paid at the kiosk and will pay for the renewal registration at the counter. It's almost my turn and let's hope I get it done in time to take my client to 3:00 appt. last time I made an DMV appt but clerks could not help me get my issue resolved. I swear this is the worst department ever existed for serving the public motorist. So you're meaning to tell me is that I failed my first drivers test because I stopped at an intersection in a residential area where I had the right of way and there was a car in their lane with the 2 way stop sign ran their stop sign so the examiner marked me down for unnecessary stop and marked me down for dangerous maneuver. Better to slow/stop than to get hit by some person who ran their stop sign without slowing down and stopping at their sign. I wrote a lot. To sum it all up: Arrival=1:42pm Departure=3:46pm Ridiculous. Inefficient. Our TaxDollars at work, right!? Was done at I just don't understand. The DMV is built for efficiency. I mean you check in at a window, they streamline you from there based on your need, they make sure you have all the correct paperwork...the guy in front of me even was able to check if his smog was accepted at that first window! The comes the really fun part! You get a magical ticket that as you wait and hear all the numbers passing you by really inspires you to yell out BINGO when they finally call your number. It should be fast. It shouldn't take more than ten minutes a person. Plus they have lots of Windows to serve people at. But it's not. Zootopia was NOT exaggerating with its whole sloth montage. I just don't understand why it takes sooooo long! We have computers now, they have a system in place, so what gives? Every time someone leaves their desk they couldn't walk any slower! If I could give less than one star to Clovis DMV I would. . Got here before 2pm (my # ticket says 2pm, but I hadn't received it until after I waited in the first general line.) I had the "lucky" ticket of B031. When I arrived B023 was up on the board. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the numbers and I feel as if I got into another line for the purpose of my visit things would be so much faster! At least I would be more aware of how long I need to wait as the line moves. All I can do is sit and wait. Hoping the B's start to move. They keep calling all the Gs and Fs ... Some A's and some H's but no Bs!?! The lady where most of the Bs seem to be called to keeps disappearing after each person for a break or something (she has her purse in tow half the time ... She also sees people with G numbers too). At the rate they are going it will be dark before I leave just like zootopia! They just called B027 and I have never heard such screams of delight from people outside of a Bingo game or the lottery!! I overheard his say he was waiting since a "quarter til". A person asked the question I was thinking "a quarter to two?"... Nope. They had got here at 1215 waited twenty minutes or so in the first line and then got their number at nearly 1245! and now the "Fs" have become very popular again. Woohoo. Finally got my number called and got to the counter. Dmv people are not as friendly as the sloths on zootopia. Not by a long shot. Had to tell her twice what I needed. Had to walk far a bit to get to their atm thing to pay my $15 fee. She handed me my form and I awaited further instructions or a thank you or anything to indicate that I was done with our interaction... Finally figured it out when she said "okay. That's it." But it wasn't a yay you are done. More like ok move so I can help someone else. Note: you may ask "why didn't you make an appointment?" You see, I tried. Their mobile website link for that location (perhaps all their locations) kept resulting in a 404 error. I emailed them and their response was to call the office if I couldn't figure it out on my end because it was working fine for them. Ummm... I build websites. I know that usually there is a link issue if there is a 404 error... So disappointed. The DMV has so much potential, they could do so much better. read more

Wow don't waste your time going to this one I thought it would just be convenient but it's not I'd rather go to blackstone and Nees. First the person at check in was ridiculously rude and had zero customer service before we could check in he made us wait in a line, he didn't point to what line just said you need to wait in line as we tried to figure out what line I saw 3 other people walk up to him and he HELPED them!!! Pushed me checking in to a longer wait finally he helped us (he is the only way to check in) and then we waited in an ACTUAL line where they were taking non appointments in faster then the appointments! Finally made it up to the counter only to be told I didn't have the correct information but I was already upset so that pushed me over the edge! Not worth my Saturday!
