Wait times are horrible, lines are long, staff seems impatient just your typical DMV. This one is cleaner than others I have been to. Parking is always full so I usually just park on the side street. Their signs regarding lines are very confusing. Red carpets are for appointments apparently so there is no sign lol. They have their ac running which makes waiting better in this summer heat! Just got back from renewing my drivers license for a Real ID. Walked in the door at 2:06pm and out at 3:16pm. The appointment line had one person ahead of me and my next window was empty, except me of course. The only time I stood in line was for the written test but with two employees working the line it went fast. Only drawback was the testing area. It got backlogged with all the people flunking the test, two and three times. Other than that it was an excellent experience. All DMV employees were helpful and professional, considering all the different people they have to deal with daily. I commend them on a great job! read more

Ok its the DMV. Enough said but come on DMV you can try. Well I've been here several times on a Sat super early like 7am to get in line. They get me in and out. The window person treats me normal. Not super but all passing in customer service. My prob is the attitude of the guy who moves grps before the DMV opens. Same guy every time. If you're out there sorting ppl be nicer. Every time Ive been there he's not rude but very borderline. He's terse with a hint of condescending-ness. He comes out tells everyone "Id and DL" this way, "registration" stay here. Someone asked what about sticker replacement? He just repeats the same but louder with his back turned and half way back into the building. He comes back 5 or so mins later..."ID and DL this side of the building?"....I asked what about lost plates? He says, "I said ID or DL this side of the building". While half way back into the building with his back turned. Instead of answering the way he did he could of said plates are a part of registration...youre good. Similar amount of breath. Its DMV he has to be almost rude. DMV if your goal is to have this guy sort the line then teach him a lil customer service but maybe thats not your philosophy. So advice if that guy is reading this...doesnt hurt to be a lil pleasant and if youre alrdy going to reply why not give the answer...a simple "your good in that line" works. read more

I went to the DMV to have my last name changed and to have an updated real ID with my new last name sent to me. I paid the fine, had my picture taken, and was in and out pretty quick. I just received my license in the mail, and guess what? It is not a real ID, which is what I paid for. I don't know why every time I go to the DMV, I either deal with rude or worthless service representatives that are not helpful and don't take pride in their job. Now I have to schedule another appointment, which isn't for another month, because I can't get a hold of any representatives over the phone. Thank you so much for wasting my time! read more

Being the expert procrastinator that I am, I waited until the last possible moment to renew my license. It just happened to also be the same day as my best friend's wedding. Where was the wedding? Clovis, where else? I mean who wouldn't want to get married there?? Thankfully the wedding was in the evening, so time wasn't an issue. I rolled into the DMV around 11 AM. Now had I done this in my present locale, San Diego, I wouldn't have gotten out of there until the sun was going down. Clovis though? No line whatsoever. I strolled right to the counter, lady gave me a #. Less than a minute later, funky automated voice called out my # and told me to go another desk. Went to the desk, filled out a form or two, got my picture taken. I was done by 11:20. Pretty damn awesome. The building looks pretty new too. Very clean, well-lit, and good layout. I highly recommend getting your DMV stuff done here. read more

Everyone inside of the office was perfectly fine, but the lady who was my behind the wheel test examiner was simply terrible. I was told that her name is Jill. She was writing something down so I figured she would finish up and greet me but no. Instead of greeting me she said in the rudest of tones "so you are just gonna pretend you don't notice me?" as if SHE wasn't the one coming up to MY car. I apologized and said i thought she was writing something and I didn't want to interrupt. She then berated my mother and I for not greeting her again. My mother then asked if she should get out if the car to which Jill snapped back with a "yes." She barked her orders at me throughout my time on the road with her and when we got back I discovered that I passed but she had wrongly marked me for not "looking over appropriate shoulder prior to lane change." This I did not do. In fact, I think it is impossible to do that. If you are going to take your behind the wheel test, don't do it here and if you end up with an overweight african american woman with poor fashion taste, kick her out the car and speed off. read more

Ok, seriously who looks forward to going to the DMV? I needed to renew my driver license and decided since I had to go in the office I'd upgrade it to a real ID. I started my application online, received a confirmation # and dreaded going to the DMV without an appointment. It was my fault though as I waited too long because I thought I'd be able to renew online. Anyway I decided to go on a Tuesday morning. Documents in tow I got there about 7:25 a.m, they open at 8:00, and by that time, as expected a small line was already formed. I got in line, and waited. I was #8 in line (not too bad) There were a couple of staff that begin to assist customers prior to the doors opening which helped. I will say the gal at the front entrance, checking people in though was not friendly. Like honey, you can be a little more personable, you are in customer service. Anyway, I got checked in and before I could even sit down I was being called to a window. Shout out to William who helped me! He was friendly and fast. Once inside I was out of there within 30 Mins. Woo hoo! Tips: Start an app on line (if you can) get there early, and have your docs ready. read more

Had an appointment today at 2:10. Arrived at 1:55. The first lady we encountered was semi nice. We had a seat. We were seen by another lady, who was rude. Should I have expected less from a government agency? Anyway, when all was said and done, we got out of there by 2:30. FYI: There is NO entrance on Shaw. You can only enter on Burl Ave (right across from CVS and the Shell station). I went there today and had this issue. I turned in at the first entrance I saw off of Shaw. By the time I had already started turning I noticed a small sign that said Exit Only. This DMV sets you up for a bad day before you even get in the door. I have no clue why their address is Shaw and not Burl. So again, DO NOT ENTER OFF OF SHAW! Hope this helps someone. read more

DMV doesn't fail to disappoint. Went in for Real ID and asked to have my street address put on ID. Even though they have my mailing address on record, they insist they must send it to my street address on the license, a rural address USPS has designated "undeliverable." (The entire town of Shaver Lake is considered "undeliverable.") The USPS will not deliver the ID because DMV refuses to send it to my mailing address on record. DMV has no problem sending my annual registration bill to the mailing address. Go figure. read more

I like that its really clean and on a nice part of town..but if you come without an appointment be prepared to wait about an hour and a half...I waited that long for my Renewal Drivers License...The people were nice, and friendly staff but if you want to be seen a little faster make an appointment at: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/dmv/onlinesvcs/appointment. So I went here expecting the worst and I was not disappointed. I usually go to AAA, so i haven't been in here in years, but had to go for my Daughter's driving permit test. We found out the hard way that there were two lines and we were in the wrong one. There are no signs of course. That would make too much sense. After all, it is our Government at work, so there is no incentive to do anything efficiently. Nor was there a person directing people to another line, as I have seen in some other posts I read. Perhaps they were off that day or on a much deserved break. After getting in the back of the other line, we followed by many others experiencing the same frustration we did. As we got closer to the front, one lady even asked the guy handing out tickets/numbers, why there were no signs directing people. His response was priceless..."I'm your sign" he said. It was a good thing my Daughter was there or I probably would have said something I regretted and have been politely escorted out. What a jerk. I think they seek out the rudest people in society and hire them. I will continue to avoid this place like the plague. It's nothing but a den of ineptitude. read more

Went to take care of some business regarding my driver's license on 9/10/2021 around 9am. All went well, but this one particular young, female technician at window 000022 had a snobbish attitude. To her right was another male technician and a little ways down was the camera lady. She was super nice and professional, unlike the female technician mentioned above. I think the female technician assisting me needs to get off her high pedestal and treat the customers with a little more dignity and respect. After retiring 30 years at the Salinas DMV, some employees think they're above everyone else just by looking at their facial features and snobbish attitude. read more

The electronic system is incompetent in receiving insurance update. I went to the office 3 times just to submit my verification in person because I was still waiting for my mail packet. Now that I got the proof it is on the due date and I'm still penalized for the reinstatement fee of $14. Well I'm paid at the kiosk and will pay for the renewal registration at the counter. It's almost my turn and let's hope I get it done in time to take my client to 3:00 appt. last time I made an DMV appt but clerks could not help me get my issue resolved. I swear this is the worst department ever existed for serving the public motorist. So you're meaning to tell me is that I failed my first drivers test because I stopped at an intersection in a residential area where I had the right of way and there was a car in their lane with the 2 way stop sign ran their stop sign so the examiner marked me down for unnecessary stop and marked me down for dangerous maneuver. Better to slow/stop than to get hit by some person who ran their stop sign without slowing down and stopping at their sign. Wow don't waste your time going to this one I thought it would just be convenient but it's not I'd rather go to blackstone and Nees. First the person at check in was ridiculously rude and had zero customer service before we could check in he made us wait in a line, he didn't point to what line just said you need to wait in line as we tried to figure out what line I saw 3 other people walk up to him and he HELPED them!!! Pushed me checking in to a longer wait finally he helped us (he is the only way to check in) and then we waited in an ACTUAL line where they were taking non appointments in faster then the appointments! Finally made it up to the counter only to be told I didn't have the correct information but I was already upset so that pushed me over the edge! Not worth my Saturday! FYI for all who have DMV appointments...though it's been somewhat newly organized be aware that even though you have an appointment, you will Not be allowed to check in for your appointment till 10mins prior to your appointment time. I looked back on my appointment check-in sheet sent to me via email and no where does it state that I cannot check in more than 10 mins prior to my time but since the employees at the dmv feel and act like untouchable gods, they refused to see me because I was 30mins early!! Now everyone knows you could spend your entire day at the dmv waiting around with or without an appointment so of course expecting long delays waiting in long lines, getting here early is defiantly a must, but if you're 5 mins late they'll refuse you service, even if it's because you've waited in line. They should appreciate the early arrivers it may open a time slot for someone who showed up late due to transportation issues or even health issues. My reasoning for being early was because I work from noon to at times 3am so being here cuts into sleep time, being here early is making sure I'm that much closer to getting out sooner so that maybe I can catch a quick nap before work! So the untouchable gods at the DMV may have semi organized the lines with red rugs but they need to organize their timing and also their attitude. The way they address and speak to you, you'd think they work at a prison and we're all their low life inmates. Just left the DMV as I had to transfer NJ drivers license to CA drivers license. Got here at 800am as a non-appointment and the line was out the door, however a representative addressed our questions while we were waiting in line to confirm we had all correct docs. It took about 30 min to get a number, and Diane was super friendly and helpful with my transaction. I then waited 5 min to take my picture, and then took the written test (it's a requirement for a CA DL) which is 36 questions. You have three chances, If you fail the first time you are allowed to take to take again within the same day; I passed on my second try :). I was directed to a line to get my interim CA DL and that took about 7 min. They were nice enough to give back my NJ DL; of course with a punched hole in it to make it inactive. Overall the process was efficient and I was there for 1 hr and 43 min. The key to a smooth process is 1) The golden rule- treat others how you'd want to be treated; with respect. 2) Be prepared - Do your research online and have docs and identification requirements ready! read more

Worst place for drivers testing, don't go here for your test. Eric automatically failed me "dangerous maneuver" because I didn't look over my left shoulder when I merged into the left only turn lane on Gettysburg to Armstrong. Gettysburg is one lane each way with sporadic center turn lanes to small street/drive ways. Before the Gettysburg & Armstrong intersection, the center turn lane stops, theres a break of at least 3 car length before the one lane separate into 3 lanes, left turn, straight & right turn. Eric the tester claims the left only turn lane is a center turn lane & I should have looked over my left shoulder before merging. I merged into the left lane when left turn only lane line appeared and not later. I have never seen a center turn lane at major intersections w/traffic light. read more
