I always get great service here. It's open there's lots of space, my service animal ‍ and I have tried it on several occasions, expecting the worst and getting surprised. Once at 4 pm we walked in expecting to be frustrated though because they wanted to go home at 5:00 they shifted into high gear and impressed us. Then we head to the zoo and monkeyed around over there to see what they knew. Now keep in mind, this is the DMV. Which was a dingy dark place when I was a kid and now there's colorful flat screens on the wall and high ceilings even interesting architectural detail. Waiting for your window number to come up is like waiting for the lottery. The person you get behind the counter is like a prize sometimes it's Mike Wazowski from Disneys Monsters Inc. and sometimes it's Roz. You just have to be prepared to go with the flow. On September 12, I arrived early in the morning for a drivers license renewal. I was given a link to an app via text, to track my place in line. I kept a close eye on it, ran errands and watched as my number in line went from 30 something down to 18 and then the next time I looked a couple of minutes later, it said you're no longer in line. I raced back to DMV only to be told that I had to start the process over from the very beginning. I'm sitting inside with my dog waiting and I now I have close to ANOTHER three hour wait in front of me. I am extremely pissed. It didn't matter to them that their app failed. She said, "Even if the app fails, you still have to start over." Do not trust their app and do not expect them to honor their own mistakes--these people truly don't give a shit. read more

Office on Olive Ave in Fresno Cal. Had an appointment so wait time was OK. Associate at the window was polite but I wasn't sure if she knew the policy or blowing me off. I tried to get setup online for the real ID. I brought in my original birth certificate, driver's license my Veterans Card and was informed that they weren't what I needed to receive a REAL ID. When I got home, I went on the internet to check the requirements and found that birth certificate and VA identification card would be fine for a Real ID. She did however renew my license. Why I don't Know, how did she know I was me without a Real ID. At 83 I think I can live without a Real ID, however if person at the window is going to turn you down be you fully understand the POLICIES before wasting everyone's time. read more

After being married for 9 years, I finally got around to changing my last name. As soon as my social security card came, I made an appointment with the DMV. However, I still attempted to do my name change before my appointment. I got there around 340. Parking was very hard to find that day. I got in, checked in at the front, then was told to go to where the testing area was. The DMV worker took my paperwork and had me complete the renewal on the computer. She let me know I can wait, but I might not get helped that day. decided to come back for my appointment. I came for back for my appointment, fyi, you can't check in for your appointment more than 5 minutes before. I got there 15 minutes early to find parking and had to check in again. Afterwards, I waited 20 minutes until my number was called. Gave the worker all my paperwork, went to take a photo and then got in line for the temporary license/real ID. This was my first time there since they built it and having an appointment made my visit so convenient. I expected the workers to be typical DMV workers who just want to get through the crowd, but everyone was surprisingly friendly. There were plenty of seats. I tried to sit away from people, but people kept sitting in the empty seats. Lol. I usually liked the Sierra DMV better, but I would definitely return to this one since it is closer to home and the workers are extremely nice. read more

I don't think any DMV will ever get 5 stars and neither does this one. My review is based on a number of things which I will elaborate on. The neighborhood it's located in is a little sketchy but it has improved within recent years. It's not too far from Downtown Fresno and Tower District which is a bit sketchy yet I have some fondness to Fresno in general. At the time I write this review, I think it's been about a year and a half since the completion of the location's remodel. The building has been updated to a more modern look and it feels like there's more space and it feels like there's more seating. That might be due to better interior design so that it doesn't feel cramped like it did before the remodel. It was extremely awful and felt quite suffocating before. I feel like it's a bit more organize and quicker than before. Something I like about this location is they separate people into well organized lines before we go into the building. Another upside of this location, especially on a rainy day like today is there is a shade structure that shields us from the sun and best of all from the rain. Parking is well designed. It allows for many cars, there's some solar paneled parking that provides shade and traffic is able to enter and exit at 3 points at this location. The staff kind gets the shit end of the stick since they have to deal with us, who hate going to their place of work and they probably have to deal with some awful people which I think makes them less friendly but that doesn't bother me at all because I'm just here to get in and out. read more

Surprisingly a pleasant experience! I've been avoiding the DMV like the plague but my License is about to expire in less than 1 month, so I had no choice! I tried making an appointment first but nothing was available until October 10th. I recommend to schedule appointments way in advance. I couldn't wait that long so I just decided to go as a walk in. The place is very open, spacious and renovated. The lines move fast and I was out of there in less than an hour! The 3 individuals I dealt with today were friendly and didn't look like they hated their life, I appreciate that! I also took a quick restroom break- it was spic n span. Not to mention fully stocked with everything (toilet paper,seat covers, soap..etc) This will be my go-to DMV from now on! Sooo much better than the North Fresno location. read more

Oscar was rude and disrespectful to my mother for not speaking English. She had already paid for her real ID but recieved a normal drivers license in the mail. When she went in, he was rude to her and was going to make her pay again for the application. She called me on the phone so I can help her translate what was going on and instead of helping my mom by getting a Spanish speaking worker he was rude and disrespectful and said she shouldn't be on the phone. He laughed at her when she asked for his name. I had to make another appointment with my mom to go in and we were in and out in less then an hour with the issue resolved. Now, as most already know, the DMV is notoriously known for being shitty and unfortunately my encounter with this location was no better. I went to this location two weeks ago with my husband. We've been to this location with and without an appointment but both times took longer than expected, so it's hard to say if an appointment really does make a difference when it comes to working with the incompetence here. This time we did not have an appointment. We arrived at 8 a.m., as my husband was going in to get a firefighter endorsement added to his license. We got in and were seated with a waiting number after about 5-10 minutes of waiting in line. We waited for my husband's number to be called for close to 2 hours. When he was finally called, he walks up to the counter with all his necessary documentation and waits until the DMV clerk understands what my husband is there for. He searches through his computer, puzzled at what my husband is asking, which is no surprise to me but my husband tries to give this guy the benefit of the doubt. After about 20 minutes going back and forth, my husband asks to speak to a supervisor, noticeably upset that this situation is no different than all the rest we've encountered with "DMV employees". He turns my way, rolls his eyes and continues to stand waiting for the DMV clerk to return. When the guy comes back he says that they, "don't do this kind of thing very often", which is understandable but even though they may not do this everyday for people you would hope they at least KNOW what their doing. He observes his computer screen one more time before he starts telling my husband his next step. My husband walks to another counter, the lady at this counter is also puzzled at what my husband is requesting. After some time talking with her and the first DMV clerk coming over to talk to her, they FINALLY have my husband wait in line to take his exam. He now has to take two exams, the firefighter endorsement test and they also want him to retake his class C written test. After taking both tests, it's about 1 p.m. now. After walking back up to the second counter he was at, the woman he's working with is trying to figure out how to finish off finalizing my husband's endorsement. She is rummaging through a binder, looking at her computer screen and then finally asks someone else for additional help. It's close to 1:30 p.m. by the time we walk out of the building. I remember the time frame distinctly because I had an appointment across town at 1:45 p.m. we rushed to. I understand that sometimes you come across situations where you haven't done something a million times over BUT I would like to at least know that you're trained on what you're doing. The amount of "I don't knows" and confusion about a process so basic is just another let down by the DMV. We come to the DMV because you ARE the people who should know what you're doing. I don't want to point fingers at the DMV clerks, so I'm going to call out the Calfornia DMV. The DMV has been a standalone department since 1931, these types of "issues" or lack of knowledge on procedural processes are well overdue. Like always, be mindful when going to the DMV! read more

I cannot believe that DMV makes it so difficult to provide feedback on their employees. It's like they expect it to be bad so they won't create a mechanism for it. Well, that wasn't the case for me, I had three employees that were just wonderful. First was the young lady at the front door, I believe her name was Amanda, but I might be wrong. She was really friendly. If I had a question, she had an answer, and I appreciated that. When I got called to a counter (counter 11) I was assisted by a woman named Kim. Kim was just fun, she seems like the kind of person you'd like to take out for drinks with a bunch of buddies. She had a sense of humor, she was helpful, and she was willing to seek the information she did not already have. Unfortunately, I didn't get the guy's name for the third person. This was a handsome young man who takes the photos. He was very friendly and jovial with the community. There was a woman in front of me who evidently did not pass her test. He was encouraging, giving her information on how she can take her test again. I definitely got an experience that was contrary to the stereo, typical DMV experience. read more

I am EXTREMELY disappointed that I only got through less than one chapter of my book! I was in and out in less than 30 minutes!! I got there around 7:30 and waited in line outside for the office to open. DMV employees came out before the office at 7:45 and prescreened us. Doors opened at 8, and I was finished before 8:30. Went to DMV today to try & prevent Monte at Ray's Auto Towing (559-251-5244) from selling my 1996 Toyota Tacoma, smallest pick-up you can get. It has 180K miles, manual transmission, no frills, manual windows, manual locks, needs paint, tires, AC overhaul, new sound system, cup holder is broken. It does have a brand new "used" camper shell attached with those wing nut type two piece clamps; purchased in Spring of this year. 2019. It has a new checkered race flag steering wheel cover, purchased from Dollar Tree in May. It also has a fairly new radiator, my super A-#1 mechanic, Ex-USMC vet would not repair (resurface the head) unless I bought a new radiator. I admit I let it overheat a time or 2, but so did my late Moms... So the truck was "considered abandoned" on 6\17 even tho I was parked behind a local Tower District thrift store. I am a long time, frequent & loyal customer at this non-profit store. I was taken to the CRMC in ambulance shortly before the store closed at 7pm. I was parked between the donation area & the back door. My unlicensed, disabled passenger "Bud" was left in possession & responsible for my truck & other possesions. My binder & legal documents in my possession inside the store were transfered to Bud. My friend stayed with my truck trying to get a licensed driver that knows how to drive a stick. By 10pm, less than 3 hrs later I learned my truck was no longer in the "Customer Only Parking" lot behind the store. Truck was put on a flatbed at 9:37 pm. I had received the Lien Sale info in the mail on 6\26\19. Need to file a "Deposition of Opposition" with 10 days of mail date. So 7\4\19 ish, not sure about holidays, regular business hours & ATBS or "all that BS". I have done my due diligence. Everyone is telling me..." let it go" & "just move on"... I say F THAT - I was taught to stand up for myself, stand up for people less fortunate, to give back, to vote, to pay it forward, to pay attention to what is going on in the world & to never give up. There is a way around, under, over or thru ANY & EVERY obsticle in front of you. We come not find the truck until it had already accrued 6 days x $56\day storage + $233 tow + $70.00 lien fee. I had a AAA card in my wallet, in my purse @ the hospital. It was not listed on FindMyTow app. I was ready to report it stolen on Saturday morning after I went to the DMV, oddly my mechanic called me as I was unlocking my giant tricycle in the DMV lot! He just got a call back from FPD. The truck is at Ray's Auto Towing! So now you have the tragic, yet all too common "backstory". I had the nerve, the utter gall.... to film my interaction with the notoriasly helpful employees of the DMV, my government officials. Now I am technically "Disabled" due to Recurrent Breast cancer, I just rec'd my new placard good thru June 2020. My placard was clearly displayed on my rear view mirror when the truck was towed. I was not, I repeat "NOT" even parked in a handicapped spot. DMV employee #47 accused me of using my disability as an "Excuse" to get special treatment. #47, who by the way, knows my All my personal information, is a white, male hippie type, dirty blond, straight hair past his nipples, mustache, dressed very "Casual Friday" even tho it was Thursday, working at window 21 I think? This dmv got remodelled not that long ago and I have to say I feel like if I were at the airport! It's so nice and clean. I really hope it stays like this for a long time. The waiting line was fast and they opened right at 8 o'clock in the morning , which is greatly appreciated from those whom take some time off to come pay their dues. I can't believe I gave the DMV 5 stars, but this is 5 stars on one condition... you make an appointment first. This is a super clean and nice facility and if you just go online first and make an appointment and then show up with the right paperwork, you will SAIL through. I had a 4pm appointment for a license renewal, so I showed up at 20 minutes 'til. No line for appointments, I walked right up to the desk. Lady gives me a number and tells me to have a seat. Sat there for maybe 3 minutes before they called me. Guy processes my paperwork, gives me an eye test and sends me to have my photo taken. Gal is working like lightning running two cameras at once. Zaps me and I'm out of there. Total elapsed time from hitting the front door to walking out.... 10 minutes flat! I was done before my scheduled appointment! If you don't make an appointment though... I feel for you. The line for walk-ins ran all the way out into the parking lot. At least 100 people deep. Even the walk up self-serve kiosk had 50 people waiting in line. So the moral of the story is, make that appointment! read more

I was going to give this long review about my experience at the Olive DMV, but I decided I'm not going to waste my time, because from what I gathered after speaking to a supervisor (Michelle) regarding the9 security guard with Cardi B eyelashes, they don't really care about these reviews. But I'm hoping the public will. The wanna be cop (Sarina) is very rude and unprofessional. I went twice this week to that DMV, and both times she behaved in that manner. Michelle gave me the name of her supervisor, but I am absolutely sure that by the time I complain to him, she will have given him the story, or their story. Michelle herself, had already taken the side of wanna be cop,, and didn't attempt to ask me what had taken place.. Michelle needs more training in being a supervisor. Either way, people who work with the public should absolutely not behave in that manner. I'm not even sure if directing traffic outside or reading customers paperwork is in her job description of the security guard. I know that yelling and being rude isn't. They continue to behave in that manner because complaints are not taken serious. I have in the past dealt with some nice people in that DMV. Don't be mad at me because you have to work. We need the offices of DMV, but we should absolutely not have to put up with people like that. Rudeness and unproffessionalism is something that customers don't pay for in their fees. read more

I made an appointment for one piece of business and within 15 mins I was done. The staff were very helpful and answered all of my questions professionally. Went in with a typical dread of a DMV visit. I've had online reservations in the past with the three Fresno area DMVs and it's been hit or miss. Added with the news about how bad the recent DMV waits were, let's just say I didn't have the highest hopes. I have to say this was the smoothest transaction of any in any state I have ever had. If you can follow the rules online about what is needed, if you can just follow the process and the lines they put you in without overthinking it, then you can renew a DL in under 30 min, including realID needs, a photo and tests. Having said that, if you don't start online then be prepared for waits because each step has a queue. Compare this to Dallas or Las Vegas levels of no appointment system, where waiting lasting 6 hours, I can't even compare the ease. Let alone California 2 hour waits in the recent years, the changes seem to have worked for the best. Is it perfect? No. Is it super better than 9 layers of purgatory? Absolutely. Oh and the new location is nice too. read more

Regarding examiners at this office (Olive/West). There is this female examiner. She looks to be in her 20s, Caucasian, hippie style, not friendly at all, she also had glasses on (like shades to keep the sun out) and is rather thin. I am describing her so one can be aware of this individual (female). More than likely this female will flunk you if you make even one mistake. Do not schedule your driving test here at the Olive/West location because if you get her as an examiner, she WILL fail you. I am forewarning you. Fyi I did not take the driving test. I already have my license, but took a friend. I later found out that my friend's best friend's sister also failed the test the first time with this examiner. I am an introvert so finding this information tells me a lot. Btw, second time, this person passed the test btw, of course, with another examiner. My friend had a 1:00pm appointment and the examiner did not arrive until after 1:10pm. There were a couple of males in the vicinity with matching shirts. As the examiners came back from lunch, she talked to these individuals for at least 15 minutes (1:25 pm by then). This female talked longer and seemed to care less that she had a 1:00pm appointment. Upon seeing her, I hate to say this, but I hoped she wasn't the examiner but it turned out she was. After this examiner talked to whoever the individuals were, she went into the DMV and came out looking tbh with no customer service skills for example with no facial expression. I said hi but I guess she did not heard, "yeah right". It turns out that my friend failed the test because she was to make a right turn and there were police officers on the right of her coming with sirens blaring and due to my friend stopping, the hippie female failed her. The paper the examiner gave to my friend read that my friend stopped at a green light BUT failed to mention that police cars were approaching on an undivided two lane road had sirens blaring! Honestly, I wonder if I took the driving test with her as the examiner would I pass? Yes that bad! You have been forewarned! read more

Don't even think about coming to this location if you don't have an appointment! I come here all the time for work, and I can't tell you how many times I have seen the line literally wrap around the ENTIRE building. The computer system that draws the window numbers also seems to be down an awful lot, as it was this morning when I was there, which causes things to go so much slower. One time I went and their computers were down, and wouldn't honor the appointment I had made. At first they argued that I would have to call in again to make a new appointment, but since I had things that would be overdue if I went that route, I had to stand my ground and basically force them to give me a new appointment on the spot. The staff is generally pretty friendly, I think DMV workers get a bum wrap because they deal with some truly awful people, and it wears them down. I know if I had to deal with some of the stuff that I have seen go on here, it wouldn't be long before I became dispirited as well. There is one recent change though that I don't like, and that will only effect a small amount of people reading this though. If you work for a car dealer or a company that has a large private fleet, they used to have a special room in the back where they had staffed with people who only did those types of transactions, since they differ from the transactions that an individual would come in and do. They have now done away with that office, and you have to check in for your appointment and pull a window ticket, and wait longer than you used to. I realize there are budget cuts and things like that, but it really sucks when you go there for business and you just want to get in and out. read more

I love going to this DMV. To start off it's huge and brand new so I feel like it makes the paste faster and much more open and less packed. anytime I'm in the Fresno area visiting family I go to this DMV specifically each time , the employees are nice , well mannered , and very informative and precise. The only thing is It's not that fast , I'm sure it could be at certain times since the volumes of employees is high but you still have to wait the 1-2.5 hours each time minimum.
