What a gem!! Opened for 50+ years…read more. Walked past this place on Sunday and had to stop in from seeing through the windows the floor to ceiling filled shelf's full of records.. As soon I walked in the owner said hello welcome, what type of music do you like? I replied a little bit of everything, he then replied what's that supposed to mean? He said give me an artist or genre I said ok do you have jazz or blues, he then replied saying he had over 2k records in just jazz alone.. I settled on asking if he had any Al Bowlly, he said yes I have Al Bowlly.. He walked down one of the aisles and called down the hallway to someone.. All of the sudden a frail old man came out, the owner said can you get down the Al Bowlly records, the old man sighs ok, the owner in return gave him a ladder, which the old man un folded and struggled to push it down the aisle, he climbed up to almost the top of the ladder looking through the albums un able to find any records, after struggling the owner comes over and said here let me help you!! The old man climbs back down the ladder and the owner pulls the ladder further down the aisle and says here this is where they are, the old man climbs back up to the top and finally finds the records and struggles to start pulling the records off the top shelf handing them to the owner.. I would say he took down maybe 20 or so records I found one I was looking for paid 25 bucks for it and was on my way.. The record by the way is in amazing condition almost new.. If you are looking for a specific record I definitely suggest coming here.. The owner is very knowledgeable.. I can see where he would come off rude, he wants people who know what they are looking for..

Charmingly horrific :)…read more There is, tucked along Melrose, a particular kind of cultural artifact no pressing plant could replicate: the curmudgeonly record dealer whose temperament has aged less gracefully than his inventory. My visit to The Record Collector felt less like retail and more like an immersive study in ego and taste. The proprietor--swift, encyclopedic, and unmistakably unimpressed--retrieved selections with impressive precision, only to bristle at the modern instinct to verify via Spotify. Browsing, it seems, is no longer browsing unless it ends in immediate, unquestioned purchase--hesitation being the ultimate offense. "Move. Come back when you're ready," is delivered less as guidance and more as doctrine. And yet, there is something perversely compelling about it. A former saxophonist by his own account, he carries the air of someone who has distilled years of proximity to greatness into a rigid philosophy: taste must be instinctual, decisive, and efficient. The warmth is absent, but the character is undeniable. In an age of frictionless politeness, The Record Collector offers resistance--less a store than a fully realized persona. Not recommendable in the conventional sense, but as a study in human texture, undeniably... collectible.

I was kicked out of the Girlset Fan meet up after waiting from 10:40am-2:30pm…read more I came with a group of 3, but we only wanted 1 cd. When the staff handed out wristbands, they asked to see what item we wanted signed. I understand why 3 people sharing 1 item while going down the table could be a problem, so I asked if the 3 of us can still stay together if we only have 1 item to get signed. This worker said yes and told us we will only need 1 wristband, and she'd write +2 on it to ensure we can stay together. When we got to the front, she said the two of us without wristbands need to leave, and only the person with the cd and wristband can stay. I was confused because it was the exact same girl who just told us we could stay together. She refused to let the 3 of us meet Girlset and have our cd signed together. When we tried to reason with her, she refused to listen and rudely kept repeating we need to leave the store. If she had told us no item meant no entry, we would have left right away or got 3 items for all 3 of us. Instead she made all of us wait, but only let one of us meet Girlset. I am extremely disappointed with my experience here, and I expected the staff to understand their own event guidelines better. I also expected to be treated with basic decency, but when this girl kicked us out she hardly even let us speak, and she gave us nasty and unnecessary rude looks and attitude.

I was happy getting a freebie postcard and was able to enjoy taking photos inside of the space with the photozones on the walls. Some things that stood out to me was seeing that they're strict on no outside food or drinks, and when I looked at the food and snacks sold, it was mostly Korean ramen or some ice cups, so the vibes here are meant to be very casual convenience-store hangout type. I also saw that the huge floor space also holds dances so that's pretty cool!! I found an album I really wanted to buy and thought it was cool to find exclusive merch from the store branch too from K-pop groups, especially Ateez. It seems like the albums and merch sold are recent (releases from same year or previous year) and aren't oversupplied with past old albums/merch like other kpop stores. All in all, I wouldn't mind visiting here again!!

Let us have our moment, especially when it's an event with low attendance. Maybe save the rudeness (or unnecessarily strictness) for bigger events? That extra 5 seconds would've made my experience really special and positive. Unfortunately, she's a Karen. Please stop having her take our photo ops IF she's just going to hover, interrupt, and be rude to paying customers. I miss Rachael (the previous Events Manager) and even her predecessor! They were never rude to me and were always understanding and considerate. Thanks for tainting my memory from the event today and ruining my whole experience! You look like you would be a nice person, but you're absolutely not. Please don't taint the B&N brand and just try to be a kinder and empathetic person! B&N, please stop hiring (or training) mean girls! Also, the brunette book seller is also nasty. I had a terrible experience with her at another event. Those two ladies deserve each other. I should be calling out their rudeness in front of the talent, but I don't wanna embarrass them. Shame on them!

He wasn't like that when I talk to him From my experience when I entered the store, he was just busy looking at the computer. What I did to past the time was browse the games I did saw a couple that I wanted and pick up three of them at the time so when I was ready to pay, I asked the guy if he takes Apple Pay he said yes Then I asked him questions about the Nintendo 64 games for super smash Bros and super Mario 64 he said those are not real. Those are authentic, I told him the games I wanted for transformers, he was about to go to a different section that I didn't found it at so when I realize what he was doing I told him not there and then I showed him where I found it and then yeah so I'm not sure what's up with that Same thing for the 360s and the PlayStation 2 games until I showed them where it was. I guess it might. He has a bad memory of where it is. I'm not sure. I saw more of luck review and if it is true that he is not passion and that depress then yeah you're not wrong. Like what's the whole point of working there if your don't like gaming but when I first saw him and when I asked him the question, he didn't look depressed. He look normal Besides that him repeating for the games and asking if it's yours, that's crazy like one he probably doesn't see the price on the cover or two. He has a very bad memory. But damn, that's crazy way different from my experience when I went there for the first time I guess go on your own risk or don't go For me, the only reason I went here is because I was far away from home and I was gonna go to Ross and I want to look at the area they have any retro games around the area and I saw this location so like why not and headed at that location the price is iffy, but I mean for the games they had the box I can't complain And since he's not passionate for the games, I mean, I don't really care. I just want the games I grew up with and dip Ahh and the only reason I am re-editing my review is because I saw the notification of seeing 266 people from 5 days ago and 139 people seeing my review now witch is the first and never expected anyone reading my review Hope it's help

Clean, smells good and staff extremely helpful and nice. Definitely coming back to get more stuff!read more

Outstanding Service and Support at Ahead Stereo…read more I purchased my McIntosh turntable from Ahead Stereo and recently ran into an issue with my stylus. I reached out to Brian, and he immediately went above and beyond--contacting McIntosh on my behalf, walking me through the options, and ultimately helping me get back up and running. What stood out most wasn't just the solution, but the care and integrity Brian showed throughout the process. He didn't treat me like just another transaction, he treated me like a valued customer. That kind of support is rare, and it's exactly why I'll keep coming back to Ahead Stereo. If you're into high-end audio and want a dealer who stands by their customers, this is the place. Today during my visit to ahead stereo I was looking for an education in creating a future home stereo system, I'm not up to date on all the options, but have a general idea of what I'm trying to achieve. These folks seemed interested in selling me a consultation for a couple hundred dollars rather than trust helping me and winning my trust, it seemed they were concerned if the helped me understand what would be a good solution I would leave the store and buy online. That was not the plan and once I figure out what I'm looking for I'll probably be back to buy local, as I'm a big supporter of that concept. My suggestion in the future is customer comes first, build the trust and loyalty will follow.
