That's an actual review here, and I've seen similar rants on multiple record stores' pages. Are you people serious? How did you make it this far in life? Whether buying or selling, Alex and his staff are amazingly knowledgeable, fair and really on top of everything that you want to see in a record store: great used stock, new releases, rare records, CDs, cassettes and posters and other memorabilia. One other great aspect to the store is the location: there's parking, it's near the highway (I-5), and it's in Atwater, central to most of LA and full of great food and other destinations worth your time, too. Pretty cool record store. There is parking on back. Entrance is on side near parking. There is a lot of employees and they are nice and helpful. When I went they were having a sale so I can't speak to a normal weekday, it was pretty busy but I still found some gems, nicely organized. You might not find every new release you're looking for but they do have new release vinyl. The gems are the uses and older titles, lots of titles and does not take long to look through. There is plenty of room in the aisles, the etiquette of shoppers was fair, there was a little bit of record stacking on top of vinyl rows but customers would move their stack when they knew I was ready to look through that row. It is mostly records, of that's what you're into you'll surely find something. There was a free play Mrs pac machine that kept my spouse enrtained while I looked. Record Safari is a cool vinyl record shop in Los Feliz with a solid selection of product. To get here, there is street parking all around the area. Their records are organized nicely by genre and are all reasonably priced. I did not end up picking anything up this time, but I still enjoyed crate digging and seeing all the new gems they got in. read more

They say that half the fun is getting there. If you are able to find the entrance to this shop, you can decide whether that old saying is true. If you do find your way inside, it is about 99% vinyl and a small section of used CDs (but some excellent ones, believe it or not). The vinyl selection is solid. The interior is kind of barren overall but the front is well decorated. The counter gal was very pleasant. The music playing in the store was very good. This store is well worth a visit, if you can find the front door. I have faith in you. read more

I've never been there, but I did phone to ask a question at 10:45 AM. ME: "Do you have a fair amount of new, sealed reissued Prince Lps in stock? I'm also specifically looking for the reissues of The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughterhouse." Answer: "I can't really go out on the floor to check; I'm the only one here, and there are a lot of customers in the store, so you should just come in." ME: "Okay, then off the top of your head, to the best of your recollection, can you tell me if you have a fair amount of new Prince vinyl in stock." Answer: "Prinz...who?" ME: "Prince, you know, P-r-i-n-ce, the purple one." Answer: "Yeah, all our new vinyl is in one section, kind of in a row - we probably have Purple Rain and Sign 'O The Times and stuff like that." ME: "Okay, thank you." Answer: "Mm-hmm. Okay." Not "If you wanna hang on, maybe I can check really quick." Nothing. He was unhelpful. This record store is one of the best. The have an excellent way of balancing all genres. They stay fresh with the new releases and have an endless ever changing collection of classics. You WILL find RARE records here, I have on several occasions. The prices are spot on, they aren't trying to hustle you. The vibes are chill, play a video game in the corner if you like. But overall, this place really is the best. Go check it out, you never know what you might find. read more

Diggers paradise. I could spend all day in this place. While they have a good selection of new records, the real treasure here is their used selection. They are divided into genre and then under each letter of the alphabet. For instance, there is no "Beatles" section, but there may be Beatles records under "B". When you are digging under the letter you'll find a bunch of stuff you didn't even know you needed. You should also dig through their multiple "New Arrival" sections. From mainstream to the obscure, there is something for everyone. I also find their prices to be the best in the area. Sometimes unbelievably good. The selection of rare records they post on their Instagram are awesome and exciting for most vinyl collectors out there. Sadly this creates lines, and an overwhelming amount of people waiting before opening to grab those records. I watched as people ran inside the store like it was Black Friday to snatch every rare record off the wall like their lives depended on it. A minute in the walls were bare and the selection similar. The experience lacked the thrill of being able to walk into a record store, and stumble upon something you've searched so long for. This was my first visit, so I'm unsure if this is how it is every weekend. But be warned if you see something you like on their socials, you should line up an hour or two before they open to be able to snag it. And even then, you might have to bump an elbow or two to secure it. read more

I found Record Safari by happenstance while in the neighborhood, and it is definitely one of my favorite record shops. When I walked in for the first time, I was impressed by the wide selection of records on sale: from pop to rock to classic jazz, I could have spent hours just flipping through their collection and finding gems to take home. It feels like every time I visit I end up buying something awesome, and writing this review just reminds me that I am overdue for a visit. The service is friendly, and I appreciate that you can peruse the record stacks without anyone hovering around you (there's a ton of space). They do record buyback, but I have not participated in that process and can't comment on how much they offer for used records. read more

First time shopping here and will be back everytime in LA. Easy to park cause they have their own lot. One could argue they are the most priced to moved record store in LA. I picked up around 70 records for around $600. WOW! Great deal. The uber super cool chick behind the counter told me her name and I am infamous forgetting names the 1st few times. I hope I don't botch it. Ariel? She's the cute pixie with the Tilda Swinton vibe. Normally the no eyebrow route doesn't work (unless your Ziggy Bowie or Jean Harlow) but she pulled it off. She even played a Frank Sinatra record so I was mellow throughout the shopping experience. Place was spotless and some random dude struck up a conversation with me about Michael Bolton. Which is cool without explanation. All in all a great happy one hour spent here. I will return and return and return again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

Nice shop! I was astounded at the large selection. I had a plethora of bins to look through. I found a sealed Bastille record for $10 - what a steal!! The store had many genres like rock, pop, and the ol' classics. Pricing of the new/sealed items I saw seemed fair/comparable to what I would see online. The staff was very friendly and available to answer questions. I appreciated the parking lot in the back of the store - made it much easier to park and take my time in the shop without having to worry about a parking meter, especially with it being in LA! read more

If you like to browse through a giant selection of used records that are priced too high - this is the place for you. They have new vinyl as well which seems to be fairly priced. The problems? The overall collection is not very well curated - just a lot of basic records. I walked out empty handed, which is not something I like to do at a record store - especially one of this size. For a more curated collection of high priced used vinyl, go to Permanent Records. For a giant selection of used and new records at fair prices, go to Amoeba (even though you will have to brave the tourists taking photos of themselves with Taylor Swift records). This place feels a lot like someone is just buying record collections from dead or dying old people. read more

This might be my favorite LA record store at the moment. What I really LOVE (and what makes the shop stand out) is that they don't play it safe when it comes to what they stock. It's not all just easily bankable 60s and 70s staples priced at $40 mixed with a bunch of rare deep cuts priced for lawyers (you know what I mean). Sure, they have that too, but they really run the gamut with a lot of new stuff out every time I'm in there whether it's some older fusion or art rock, yesteryear's grindcore, some jazz classics or deep cuts by solid players and a solid selection of electronic / experimental stuff as well. I always come out with some unanticipated cool finds and the prices are very reasonable. Love this spot! read more

Atwater Village has a great record store! Fantastic location with a parking lot--how awesome is that!? Much easier to get to than Coachella (where you might have seen the Record Safari pop-up store). Make sure u go here when you're doing your record buying tour thru LA. Some records they have they dont know their worth (mainly r&b/soul), so you'll actually get a fair price on them. Win, win for a collector. Other than that, the basic reseller vinyl catalog you'll see at ridiculous prices is here like any other wrecka sto'. But i like this spot. The locations is in the cuts. Record Safari is an awesome record store. The store is very organized and you can find some really great albums for quite the steal. I was able to purchase a used jazz and Chicago record for only $1 each - wow! The layout of the store is spacious so you don't feel crowded and there's a free Pac-Man machine in the back you can play too. The staff here were very friendly and they don't rush you so you can really take your time to look through all the records. The store also has a free parking lot (pretty small lot but also street parking if needed). Overall, a really trendy and fun record store - highly recommend checking out! read more

I've been to a lot of record stores around the country and overseas these past 45 years and I don't know if I've ever spent as much money at one shop in such a short time as I have here. Always find something great here and just when I think I'm ready to cut my losses and pay up another great find catches my eye. The nicest people too, staff and customers. I've been handed off cool records other customers thought I should check out more than once. Staff is super helpful, always seem to know where that record I was trying to find is stashed in the bins. I also love that they have a listening station. Prices are very fair in my opinion. They are savvy, not many sleepers will get past them, but they price usually just below average prices elsewhere and usually everything is in great condition here. Another bonus is that they have some parking available too. I wish I lived closer but also maybe glad I don't. read more

Super chill venue, located in a beautiful Atwater village. Great selection from children records to jazz, new age artists and of course classic rock ! I'm positive I'm missing more genres, but you get the picture. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Friendly staff and cool vinyl spinning while you shop. Probably the next best thing after amoeba! Super cool shop with cool friendly staff. You can buy, sell and trade here, and they do pay well for your dust collectors or if you're cashing out that high priced piece you're ok letting go of. Selections range from $1 bins to high end grails (priced fairly btw). They got some old arcade games and some listening stations as well DO NOT PLAY THE $1 records (believe me they're probably in better shape than what you grade as mint), it's probably the only rule they got. It's cold inside when it's hot out, it's hot inside when it's cold out. Parking on site and they sell refreshments if you're thirsty. Check out their CD section you'll find crazy steals there too! read more
