I love the 70s retro look of the store! I need to digress about the Echo Park store and how we found it by accident. One of our first pre-covid trips to LA, we had to find a vegan restaurant for our daughter. By then we all were kind of hangry and stressed. While we were walking to the restaurant, we passed Cosmic Vinyl in Echo Park. I told my husband to check it out (that got him out of the car and his stress went away). Finding Cosmic Vinyl in Echo Park was one of our favorite shopping adventures. Because I found every album my husband was looking for (LOL), but there is a sense of community and a vibe to this store that we haven't experienced in some stores we have visited. It was sad when their Echo Park location closed, but it was nice to hear they are back.

That analog sound is so warm & cozy to the soul. I remember interviewing a band called Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. I think of them every time I pass this store. Even though it's a small shop, it's packed with a variety of new and used LPs & EPs from various musical genres. I came here to pick up some records for a friend as a holiday gift. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed browsing through the stacks and saw some records that brought back some great memories. Jen & Oscar are two amazing people who love music & vintage stereo equipment to bring back to life…read more I myself lent some money to a friend to help him out and he left me with collateral 2 Klipsch Belle Horn Theater Speakers and a Yamaha Receiver to hold until the loan got repaid. But after you lend money. We all know the story all too well they took the money & RAN.. Never to be repaid. I enjoyed the system for numerous years But after downsizing my collection after getting into my retirement years. And 36 years later. I decided to let them go to a good home to be restored and cherished like they should be. I googled Vintage Stereo Equipment and Rewind Audio popped up.. From what I thought it was going to be a goodnight vibe going out to support the line up/headliners. We arrived at the exact time the venue advertised the artist will perform. The bouncer told us they actually ended 2 hours ago from the original time they said. I was furious because not even a notification was sent to us that they changed the time. I would figure venues would notify their customers about the time changes but not even an email sent. Definitely not coming back for another events to this location. Poor communication management with their customers.

We had no idea, as to "our" budget, except it was given to us our wedding gift. My paternal aunt purchased, all of our wedding flowers here and placed together by family, with love. We were there, bright and early and got best quality flowers. It was day or two, before they would be used. They must be preserved, freshly and kept them inside my bathroom, in dark, cold room & cranked up AC. All of it was placed in bathtub for hydration.

First the website mentions parking on the roof and we could not find this parking. There was an area blocked off, but it didn't say full. It was just blocked off and the only reason I suspect that was their parking lot is because the exit was still open. So I had to pay for $10 across the street. Yes we could have found street parking further away, but I was already frustrated not having found their lot and my partner was just like I'll just pay. Let's just go across the street. Next even though it is mentioned on the website (I don't remember seeing it despite looking at the website multiple times) and there was a $2 entrance fee. what am I paying $2 for? Why am I paying $2 to shop and spend more money? I'm sorry just on the way there as we got closer, there are so many flower shops around the mart so I don't see why you wouldn't just go to one of those and get your flowers without having to pay an additional fee. So now, we are already $14 out-of-pocket and we havent done anything but try to park and step inside. We get inside we look around and I honestly did not find the prices to be that different from a farmers market perhaps a slightly bigger bouquet, or a couple of dollars cheaper, but there was nothing that was like ooh, this is a great deal. We ended up buying a large bouquet of lilies for $25. There is a stall in the back that had what I would consider actually good price prices. Five stems for $10 and a big bushel of another kind of flower for $6. We got those as well. My partner also really liked the plant guy and bought a plant from him from $20. Now here is where I really will not be back. I stopped at a stall called Choice America. I saw a really pretty set of mum's and asked how much they were & was told $10. The guy helping me then confirmed that they were $10 with somebody else. He then went on to say that one with eight stems was a higher price that I don't remember because I knew I wasn't getting that.When I got to the counter to actually pay, the woman was going back-and-forth with another customer about some order. They both seemed equally frustrated. Why is this important?.. because when it was my time to pay she said $10. I handed her a $20 bill. She opens the register and pulls out a five and some ones throws up her hands. I deduced that already being frustrated this is just one more thing on top as she doesnt have enough change to give me and instead turns to me and says $12.50. I kind of stumble and I say for what... tax or something? and she goes yeah tax clearly lying! Even if they did charge tax, which no other stall did, sales tax in Los Angeles on $10 it's not $12.50. The unfortunate problem is that I am black and I am not afforded the luxury to say something back because then I'm seeing as an angry black woman, have the police called on me not being believed etc. etc. so I just have to bite the bullet and get scammed and ripped off of my money. My partner and I both agree that it was not worth the hassle to go, but he really wants to take me to the restaurant across the street so we would go back to the plant guy and we would go back to the stall in the back but even those are BIG IFS as neither of us has any desire to ever go back to the Flower Mart. I feel like overall. The whole place is a money grab, you should save your money and go to your local farmers market or visit one of the many other vendors that were around the area without having to pay an admission fee to even buy flowers. Or better yet be bold like the elderly lady who accosted us as we were leaving and asked "are you all done in there can I have your sticker?" I was already too flustered to even recognize what she was asking till after my partner happily handed his over.

UPDATE OF MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: After what started out to be a positive experience, I'm left with a…read morevery negative feeling about this place. IN A LARGE NUTSHELL: I originally called to see if ATRT carried a specific pressing of an artist/album and they did. I purchased that album plus four others. Played all of the albums BUT the specific album I needed - which was the most expensive - was literally unplayable. Contacted owner Kevin and he started making up store policies: claimed the invoice states it allows for only a 50% refund (it doesn't); then stated while he wouldn't refund me, he would try to locate another copy of the album which would probably have a later pressing/label & that I needed to be okay with that since it contained all of the same songs as the original pressing. (I wanted the original release, I paid for the original release, I expected the original release - not a later reissue on a different label - this shouldn't be difficult for any collector to comprehend.) Kevin attempted to bully me by repeatedly cutting me off with his confrontational, condescending, argumentative and arrogant tone which, honestly, was shocking, to say the least. Eventually he admitted he doesn't listen to the albums while simultaneously claiming them to be in great condition - after much back and forth, he finally agreed to reimburse me for the defective album. (It's as though he's great to talk to if you agree with everything he says but if he feels challenged, he takes it as a threat?????) I understand not being able to listen to thousands of albums to check their usability but if they don't work & he doesn't want to provide an in-store opportunity for customers to test them, do the honest thing. Also, post your lack-of-return-policy-of-the-moment so customers know in advance what they're settling for - NOTE: they have you sign the receipt after paying AND keep talking to you while signing so you simply think you're signing for receipt of merchandise - if there's a no-return clause or a partial refund clause, you won't know that. As I stated to Kevin over the phone, I'm not mad or angry about the hostile way he treated me, I'm actually sad - what could have been a pretty darn good experience with a local small business turned out to be a pretty awful one. MY MISTAKE - I should have read other reviews BEFORE visiting because there are wildly differing opinions on this place and all seem legit - the good and the bad. My first review was great and as you can see, that soured pretty frickin' quickly. It doesn't take much to be decent and honest - especially if you'd like to keep customers who are happy to share their experiences with others.

The road was blocked, the parking areas were blocked, and the entrance was closed as well. I had to leave my car on the side of the street because there was nowhere else to park.
