Revolution Records is a small store in the middle of Melrose everything. It's impossible not to pass by if you walk around. The place is a tad dark, they don't carry a lot of merchandise. What they have it's diverse enough: vinyl, t-shirts, tapes, CD-s, a bit of everything. Prices are kinda high and customer service can be better. Closed Mondays. If you're in the area, pop in, it's a cool store to check out.

They didn't have much but they had two records that I really wanted. Danzig live in Hollywood for $42 and Slayer - South of Heaven mint condition for $90. I had to decide on one. The guy helping me said he could play Slayer for me to test it out. Of course I bought it. thanks!

I came for the comic shop (will not soil their great name with any association to this place), and I parked in the back. In the year that I've been coming to this shop, weekly to play DND until the pandemic hit, I've never had a problem with being back here, which was every week because street parking was full on weekdays: I would never park here if I wasn't a patron to one of the businesses in the front. Having been so used to coming back here, I didn't think twice about parking in the available spot when I stopped by to stock up on comics pre-lockdown # 2 I came back to my car being blocked- okay. I waited maybe 10 minutes thinking the owner would return. They didn't, so I asked the comic shop if it was one of them. No. They checked the camera and said it was the record shop. I went in, asked the guy if he knew who owned the TOYOTA 4 RUNNER. Immediately, he angrily said "I can't here you!" so I asked louder. He said "Yes, I do" I said "okay, can you move it?" He said angrily "when my customers leave" I said "okay" and turned to leave Then he angrily continued "You don't live up there, why did you park there?" I said "I went to the comic shop" He angrily said "there's signs all over saying no parking" I said, "I thought it was allowed if I was a patron at a shop" He angrily glared and shook his head. So I'm out here, waiting for him to move, and it's been some time. He only had two people in his store so unless they're really into records, I'm sure he's doing it on purpose. It's fine, I have yelp to pass the time. Oh, and allll those signs he said were posted? This is the only sign from my vantage point. A sign that's not even in front of every spot. Meanwhile, the side of the wall where he could have parked but didn't has a better visible one. Can you guess why I don't park there? Because that one is obvious! Anyways, I had a feeling he had a bad reputation. I truly feel bad for anyone who comes in here to shop and has felt violated by his mannerisms. There's so many other record shops, he doesn't need your patronage.

I came in Revolution Records not expecting much. The quantity isn't as much as other shops and I honestly expected to find nothing but old jazz and classical records. I was completely WRONG! Once you get to digging you will start finding some gems. From reggae to extreme metal they have something for everyone! But by far my favorite part of visiting was chatting up with the owner. This guy is a straight OG! He knows his stuff and I love his enthusiasm when talking about bands. You can tell this guy love what he does and is a straight hustler when finding things for his shop. Don't be discouraged when reading the reviews. He's just a guy running his shop the way he sees fit. 10/10 will come back again! Purchased this rare CC long sleeve while visiting Keep up the good work Joey and stay hustling :)

Yes, that is a First PROMO press of Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section, found at this store.

I HIGHLY recommend this store! Their selection may seem small upon first glance, but it packs a punch. If you're a seasoned collector, someone who only recently bought a turntable and needs records to put on the platter, or just looking for a gift to give your friend who's into vinyl, you should definitely stop in. They have a surprisingly good selection of Classic Rock, Punk, Jazz, Misc, and entire bins dedicated to rare records for the collectors (which I seldom see stores do). I visit record stores throughout LA and much of the United States actually, and this is probably among my favorites. By far the best record store in West Hollywood (which I think it qualifies as being in) Certainly the best of the 3 record stores on this side of Melrose, not as large of a selection as they Record Parlour per se, but very rewarding and honestly, with better prices on staple records (not knocking the Record Parlour, they're great too). I have never written a yelp review for anything, and never felt compelled to do so until I went to Revolution Records today (also I do not work for the store, nor do I actually know the owner aside from visiting the store, I'm just incredibly appreciative of this store, and I really hope more people can check it out!) This is what one of the records I found at the store (I can not emphasize how grateful I am to have found this). \/ \/

I've barely begun to dip my toe into deep appreciation of physical music mediums, and accompanied my wife here on her birthday search for a few specific vinyls and CDs. My search was narrow, hoping for a Odesza vinyl. I found two vinyls from the A Moment Apart album I was in search for with one being a used copy in a deep sea foam color while the other was a clear vinyl. Because I knew nothing about vinyls, I went to the front desk where Kelly took the time to show me how; 1) properly remove vinyls from their sleeve, 2) the direction to clean vinyls using a microfiber cloth, 3) check downs to go through when inspecting a used vinyl, and 4) in why's behind inspecting vinyls the way she recommended. In taking the time to show me how to check 3 separate clearance vinyls, I felt even more stoked about my Odesza used vinyl find as it was fun colored vinyl not yet in our collection and in beautiful condition. Kelly - thank you for not being a gatekeeper. You rock!

It's located right across the street from the Metro B Line, so take the transit for super convenience! Walking in, there is security staff that's there that will do a bag check. They also do this when you're leaving the store. The store itself is a nice warehouse of everything you're looking for: music, movies, and merchandise like t-shirts, buttons, even some CD players (not top of the line, but they have them!). Everything is organized at this location - with lots of staff on the floor, restocking and organizing the racks. They have a good selection of everything, but also they don't have everything. I didn't find what I was looking for at my last visit, but it was still nice to browse through the store. They also seem to carry a lot of brand new CDs here. Amoeba's a cool shop if you've never been to one before. It's one of the remaining larger physical music shops left that have tons of music CDs, records, and other awesomeness.

In terms of their actual offerings, they have a lot of used vinyl, some of it is very rare. So, if you're looking for that really special something, you may very well be able to find it at this shop. They also have a lot of new vinyl. Some of it is of the older variety, and some of it is very new releases. So, whatever you're looking for, you should be able to find something here. In terms of their pricing, it's all very reasonable. Even the rare vintage vinyl they offer is priced very competitively in correlation with the modern market. This is the same with their new vinyl, their prices are very competitive. They also offer a few other items like some cassette tape and things like that. Thus, it is your one stop shop for when you want to grab that special piece of music. The staff here are all really nice. So if you need any help, they'll be happy to help you out. Overall, this is one of those dying breeds of shops, one that offers a grand selection of vinyl. Housed inside a former bank, the space already carries this grand, historic energy that sets the tone before you even start browsing. What makes this place unforgettable is how it's designed to be explored, not rushed. There are cozy spots scattered throughout where you can sit and get lost in a book, but the real magic is upstairs. It opens into a maze of rooms, each with its own personality, filled with carefully arranged books that feel more like art than inventory. At times, it genuinely feels like you've wandered into a dream. One of the highlights is the famous tunnel of books, which adds to that surreal, almost cinematic experience. Everywhere you turn, books are used as decor in the most creative ways, and it creates this quiet moment where everything else fades out. Upstairs also holds one of my favorite parts, a row of art studios featuring work from local artists. Every piece feels intentional, unique, and thoughtfully placed. Right nearby, there's a small coffee shop surrounded by beautiful artwork, making it an easy place to pause and take it all in. This isn't a quick stop kind of place. Plan to spend a few hours here, wandering, discovering, and just enjoying the atmosphere. It's one of the most iconic bookstores I've ever been to, and it absolutely lives up to the reputation.
