This shop was on my list to visit in L.A. on 3/6, and it did not disappoint. It was my third stop and I had the place to myself- super clean, organized, and packed with vinyls of all kinds. The selection honestly blew me away. I found an amazing record (see pic), and I loved the graffiti-style sign and music icon photos on the walls. Big plus for having a listening station, always a must for me. Also love that it's women-owned. Parking was easy- there's a parking structure near by. Definitely coming back. read more

Str33t Records... clever name for a newer vinyl record store in Alhambra, CA. While this woman-owned shop had its grand opening in November 2021, I didn't make it inside to get my dig on until 5/28/22. The shop is on the small side, yet, it is organized and still boasts a wide selection of genres. The young lady behind the counter - who I confirmed was the owner - was super nice too. Plus she's a great karaoke singer. (I could hear her over the samples she was playing.) My personal general rule of thumb is if the price is within $5-10 of an online store (e.g. Discogs) I prefer buying locally in the flesh. Folks can sit at home and whine about "the pricing is not accurate to market" and "the smart thing to do might be to match Discogs," but to me that's not why brick and mortar stores exist. I picked up Bobby (Blue) Bland, Alice Cooper, and Ann Peebles - all in good to great condition. Vinyl digging is invigorating especially when you learn what's rare. There is a greater sense of pride when you find something you deeply appreciate and is cool as hell. Free street and garage lot parking is nearby. I'm a fan. When I first heard there would be a record shop opening in Alhambra, I was so excited - finally there would be a record spot in SGV that wasn't all the way in Pasadena! Str33t Records has gone above and beyond my expectations by having a great selection of used & new vinyl, incredibly friendly staff, AND even hosting open mics. I've been to two open mics so far and both have been super fun! Angelle (shop owner) is an awesome, welcoming host and everyone who shows up (performers and audience) is insanely supportive. It sounds like the mics will be a seasonal thing so I'd recommend following the shop on Instagram @str33trecords to find out about their next event. I'd also recommend keeping up to date with them on Instagram because they sometimes post about sales AND Angelle takes a tally of everyone's Record Store Day picks on the store's Instagram story so she knows how much specific vinyl to order for the big day (again she is AWESOME!!). read more

Str33t Records is a beautiful little shop with a great selection of vinyls. I've been able to buy tote bags, shirts, vinyls, they have both new selections and older selections. Not only do they sell vinyls but are also a great venue space for open mics and performing!! I was able to perform with my band here during an open mic and both the community and the owner were so welcoming and open. I'm a prolific vinyl record collector. I typically buy at record shows, estate sales, and private parties. However, whenever I find myself in a new city, I try and visits local record stores. I judge record stores by the variety of music and condition of the records. Str33t had an excellent selection, was very organized, and all the used records were clean and in decent to excellent shape. Pricing was fair, and I don't mind paying a bit more if I'm supporting a good local business. If you are in Alhambra I recommend a crate dig at Str33t Records. read more

This record store is like most new record stores these days and falls prey to one of the worst things a new record store can do; price horribly in search of that new business coin. The prices are all higher than discogs and the condition doesn't warrant it. Their only hope is preying on the unknowing customer. When you shop here use www.discogs.com !!! You will see what I mean. It doesn't matter how nice the owners are or how nice the store is since this is a business and you go to buy a product, if the product is priced wrong then I consider it a failure. I guarantee their inventory will change very little in a year's time. Message to the owners: lower your prices, learn how to move your inventory, and if you are paying a lot for people bringing in records lower that buying price point a little and you won't have stale inventory. Also learn the condition guide. people don't want to pay nm prices for vg+ records. Also label bootlegs it's not nice to try and slide this past the customer. As a new business you need to do better. read more

The girl at the desk is extremely nice. This is the reason for the three stars The lacking of 5 stars is for two very good reasons. 1-Selection is simply "okay" not amazing and 2-The pricing is not accurate to market. They up-charge a very high percentage compared to Discogs pricing. The same exact item at the same exact condition sells for 50-70% more than it does on discogs. I would be happy to purchase from a physical store if the price was identical to discogs. I wouldn't even care if they charge the same price AFTER shipping compared to discogs, but they're not even doing that. I saw an album listed in NM condition on discogs for 10 bucks, this store is selling that same record for 15 bucks. In one case it may not matter but what if you wanna purchase 20 records from a store instead of discogs? It adds up to a lot of money lost. I wanna support stores like this, but they need to better price things, even if it was a dollar more than discogs I might still purchase from them, but the smart thing to do might be to match discogs. I know you guys have overhead but so does discogs have to pay the man to exist. read more

Such a fun and eclectic space! This new record shop in Alhambra has an incredibly well curated collection of records and cassettes! I've been there two other times already and always seem to find something new to take home. I also love that it's woman-owned. The owner was not only knowledgeable about her inventory and selections but was also friendly and inviting.
