I love the 70s retro look of the store! I need to digress about the Echo Park store and how we found it by accident. One of our first pre-covid trips to LA, we had to find a vegan restaurant for our daughter. By then we all were kind of hangry and stressed. While we were walking to the restaurant, we passed Cosmic Vinyl in Echo Park. I told my husband to check it out (that got him out of the car and his stress went away). Finding Cosmic Vinyl in Echo Park was one of our favorite shopping adventures. Because I found every album my husband was looking for (LOL), but there is a sense of community and a vibe to this store that we haven't experienced in some stores we have visited. It was sad when their Echo Park location closed, but it was nice to hear they are back.

The alphabetical sorting was accurate and the soul section was well-stocked. Most of the records were priced fairly and I found a lot of records I have been searching for a long time. I bought out all the Blue Magic albums they had at the time and was able to find several ones that are not available on Spotify or Apple Music. My only comment is that I wish the used hip-hop section had less singles and more complete albums at reasonable prices. I will definitely return next time I'm in LA. Even though it's a small shop, it's packed with a variety of new and used LPs & EPs from various musical genres. I came here to pick up some records for a friend as a holiday gift. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed browsing through the stacks and saw some records that brought back some great memories. They carry a nice variety of different genres and rarities up on display. Ok some of the prices are a little steep but you've got to remember as well as me about checking and asking about when it was pressed. Since I was only here to check out the shop and do a little browsing I'm going to say definitely load up your credit card or Apple Pay or whatever it is you use because you could come out of here spending some serious cash. I used to frequent this store on a regular basis to sell CD's and pick up something cool. It was such a great store with lots of vinyl, CDs, cassette tapes, and music memorabilia. I was surprised to see that it moved from its large store front to a small space around the corner and entrance is by appointment only. The selection is great and the guy working the shop that day was nice. The "venue" itself is so quaint and perfect for an intimate show.
