I was recommended this store from longtime friends of the owner. I found a varied selection of first pressings of rock and Jazz vinyl; a few really rare ones. My wife found a few dresses that fit well and priced fairly. Both owners are very engaging and will tell you the history of where the clothes came from; even Oscar dresses! Great curated selection, and the owners have excellent taste are are knowledgeable about what they carry and do the research. They have always been very friendly and pleasant for me to deal with. You get what you pay for- I find their selection to cover a range of prices; the rare stuff is pricey, but plenty of it is quite reasonable. It's not a thrift shop! They go out of their way to get unique merchandise. As far as size inclusivity goes, that totally depends on what they have access to and are able to buy. They carry it when they are able to obtain it. It's generally very hard to find large sizes in vintage, unless a store has purchased a large-sized estate- you won't find much if any of that in any other vintage shop, either. It's a specious complaint. I have seen quite a bit of plus-sized garments promoted on their IG page. Really lovely store. read more

I don't know what that reviewer is going on about that Avalon Vintage doesn't cater to all sizes. If Asia is a real person and really is any size larger than a ten or twelve then she knows it's near impossible to find clothes ANYWHERE. I am extra curvaceous, extra tall, sometimes a 14, sometimes a 20 with large pendulous breasts and clothes just aren't made for me. Rodney the owner has ALWAYS catered to me and my size and when he finds something he thinks will suit my needs, he gets it plus he has GREAT taste and he's a gentleman. I've always had better finds here than most and shop here whenever I'm in town. It's obvious when you see his inventory that this is his passion and that's where the best shopping happens. read more

Love this place. The owner is awesome. I always manage to find something cool and unexpected here, including a Vincent Price dried apple shrunken head-making kit and a novelization of 2,000 Maniacs. Walked by and had to stop, as a vintage hunter I was looking forward to seeing the selections this boutique had. At first glance of the blouse rack I noted the brands and eras, wide variety of both. I got excited as I began to look thru the dress rack. Came across a larger version of a dress I owned, mentioned to my friend it looked familiar (in Spanish). As I began to examine the dress, a tall blonde woman, assumed owner, came from the back of the store to the front and began to pull dresses from a section, said excuse me - with a sharp tone. I pleasantly responded "sure" stepping slightly to my right. She aggressively hangs a dress on the end of the rack, proceeded to plow thru me whilst saying "excuse me" in a forced and sarcastic tone. Doing so bumped my left arm and shoulder - which unbeknownst to her I recently had surgery on. Obviously she wasn't in the mood to service me. Her loss. Will not return. Racial profiling, Physical Abuse and Battery has no place in a public place of business. read more

During Covid, the owner kindly opened the store within safety guidelines for me, I was told he had some amazing pieces I would love- boy did they! I fell in love 100 times with the beautiful things and everything was in excellent condition and reasonably priced. The owner worked with me to buy some garments I loved. It's a cute store front and it does have a nice vintage aesthetic, but the customer service is dry and the prices don't work for the quality of vintage clothes they are selling. Even though this place has good reviews, it's probably from their friends. So I would say shop at your own risk. I was excited to check this place out, unfortunately the person working there made me never want to go back again. Not sure if he's the owner or just works there (balding, blue eyed guy with glasses), but he was too busy messing with his phone to acknowledge that I even came in. I had a simple question for him, but it seemed as if he was inconvenienced by me interrupting his precious phone time. I don't think I have ever encountered a ruder salesperson. He looked (and sounded) unbelievably miserable there, maybe it's time for a change bud. Definitely won't be coming back again. read more

I came here based on a recommendation of a friend, and was excited to see the wide variety of clothing offered, especially at reasonable prices. However, the sales associate was not attentive, and she accused me of ripping an item. As someone who thoroughly enjoys vintage shopping and respects clothing, her tone felt condescending, and the experience was not enjoyable. Tucked away a block off Figueroa lies one of the better 2nd-hand record emporiums in all of Los Angeles. Serious selection of rare vinyl: psych, rock, classic rock, punk/wave, latin, reggae etc. Lots of piles, bins and boxes to spend time digging through. Big, beautiful space with some cool artwork and tchotchkes for sale as well. Run by nIce helpful folks. This shop is so expensive and the clothes has all types of stains of mustiness. The owner was also very rude and didn't welcome me or my friends and gave us the worst look down as if she was discriminating us. The owner also told us all to put our purses to the side as if we were going to steal a bunch of old clothes. The owner also bumped into me on purpose like two times without excusing herself. Don't come to this shop it's a complete waste of time and the lack of respect for the customers is beyond compare. read more

LOVE this gem. I've shopped here multiple times, for multiple occasions. Convinced before I walk through the door that what I'm looking for doesn't exist. And BAM! Once I'm inside, records spinning, I'm assured it's all going to be fine. From mohair mini skirts to black tie gowns, from Bowie tribute jumpsuits to designer shoes, from Victorian capes to 30's lingerie, from rare tees to handmade 70's frocks PLUS an A+ selection of vinyl... this place has it all. I've shopped LA vintage my entire adult life. Sick to death with the picked over garbage it has to offer and the worthless toads that work such places as American Rag Cie, Avalon Vintage is my sanctuary. Did I mention their Instagram is loaded with beauties that you can buy without lifting a finger?! Also, worth mentioning, they have a great size selection. Being a size 10-12 and 5'11" can have its drawbacks in the search for clothing of yesteryear. NOT HERE! I could go on to gush more, but I'll leave it at that. Visit. Make yourself known. Say hi. I was here earlier today it was amazing and the shop lady was super sweet and helpful! I was on the hunt for vinyl all afternoon and had no luck finding anything til I stumbled upon this place, the record selection is very decent, fairly priced, and organized pretty neatly. I'm so glad I found it and will most definitely be stopping by again. They are closed Monday's and open from 12pm to 7pm I believe. read more
