I usually don't leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience at this nail salon. Unfortunately, it was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment I walked in, the staff seemed uninterested and rude. There was no greeting or even a simple acknowledgment when I entered -- I had to wait for several minutes before anyone looked my way. The nail technician was unprofessional and very dismissive. Instead of asking me about my preferences, she rushed through the entire process. The water was FREEZING COLD, I had to ask for correction, she came back with the SAME FREEZING COLD WATER, when I made my second correction, she brought BOILING HOT water. When I told her that it was WAY TOO HOT, she decided to YELL at me and tell me she is refusing to do my manicure. As someone who works, in customer service.... This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! I won't be returning and would not recommend this salon to anyone looking for quality service or a pleasant environment. My nails look great! I was a walk-in, I didn't have an appointment and they took me immediately. (But I did go on a weekday afternoon). It took about 40 minutes for the whole set and it was only $30! I thought that was impossible to find in Miami! Plus my nails look beautiful! The acrylic is in a perfectly thin layer, not thick like nail-shovels. It looks very feminine and dainty while still feeling strong. A lot of other reviewers mentioned cleanliness, I didn't notice anything particularly dirty, but I also did not see them sterilize any instruments before or after using them. I did not get my toes done, which is where cleanliness matters more in my opinion, since you're more likely to get cut, but when I do go back and get a pedicure done, I will be on the look out for instrument sterilization. read more

I do not recommend this place! There were small bubbles dried into the polish and the nail paint (which was supposed to be Essie) took forever to dry. Most importantly-I didn't see them sterilize their tools or even clean them!! Also, for the pedicure it also took forever to dry and they didn't pumice much during the pedicure. Honestly I am so surprised with this place. I went in expecting an average manicure but I'm two weeks into my gel mani and it's still just as shiny as it was on the first day. Usually all of my gel manis dull and that's when I go to get it fixed but I really feel I can rock this for another week and it'll look fresh. It's reasonably priced and clean and mellow. DK Nails is the tried & true nail salon. Old reliable. A gel manicure and regular pedicure will run you $55. A regular mani & pedi is $33. I have been visiting DK for over a decade and I am glad that they're still around. Over the years, the owners and staff have changed, but the friendly atmosphere has remained. It is really the only place that I know I can walk in without an appointment and get my nails done. During busy times, you may have to wait, but it's never for very long. It isn't the best place, but because of convenience they have earned a solid 4 star rating. read more

I wanted to like this place, as the lady who did my nails was super nice and did a great job; however my dip manicure started to chip after two days! I have been getting dip nails for two years now and they have NEVER chipped. They last for up to two to three weeks. I just moved back down south and was hoping to find a good nail salon and be a repeat customer. I stayed faithful to them throughout several ownership changes each worse than the last but this last visit was the final straw , I paid $85 for a dip with tips manicure and pedicure and ALL of the tips came off in less than a week... I've said it before and will say it again: Having your nails trimmed in a salon doesn't reduce the potency of the Y chromosome, especially if its done by a very good looking girl in a tight shirt :) I'm trying to keep it G rated (OK, scratch that, maybe R rated). I've noticed the attention to detail here above a lot of salons I have visited and the prices are well matched. This salon has good selection of colors, the massage chairs are all up and running (unlike other salons which happens to be a huge pet peeve) and best is the times of service. Finally found a decent place to get a manicure and pedicure in South Florida! Like many, I have resorted to Pinkie's for years simply because I did not know this place was right around the corner. While I cringe at the prospect of finding parking anywhere near Sunset, I pulled up into a metered space to find there was already two hours left on my spot... I knew it would be a good day. While I did have to wait about 30 minutes to get my nails done, I was desperately in need and so made the sacrifice. My manicurist did the job quick yet efficiently. As long as I was there, I decided to get my eyebrows waxed. They did it after I got my nails done in the closet of a space they have reserved for these services. No really, it's a closet. The lady waxed me mid-pedicure (since the man who did my nails said it'd be in my best interest if he didn't do it) so probably felt a bit rushed and it showed. However, she was still nice and did what I needed which was clean up my brows just a little bit. I was out the door with a few minutes to spare on my meter! DK Nails will deifnitely be my new go-to to feel refreshed at a great price. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Honestly such a terrible experience. My appointment was at 11:00 am and when I got there no one was even in the nail salon and the door was locked. I waited in my car for 20 minutes for someone to get there. Someone finally showed up and even after I was inside I had to wait 10 minutes for a manicurist to get there to do my nails. The lady who did my feet did a good job. Now when i went to do my nails she switched with a man. And he did a horrible job. He didn't even cut all of my cuticles off and he painted them horribly. The top of my nails had a lot of imperfections. And when I asked him if he could fix it he thought the solution was to file my nails super short. I never go out of my way to leave reviews but I am beyond angry. And after he put this lotion on my hands that smelled horrible. And the worst part was it cost 55 dollars. I don't mind paying money for something if I'm going to get quality service but this was just terrible. I will never be going back here and I suggest if you are thinking about coming here for a manicure don't do it save your money and go somewhere else. read more

My visit to DK nails In general went very well, the ladies working there were very nice and the salon itself was Cute and clean. My pedicure came Out fantastic and still Is not chipped after a week. The only problem I had with them (and the reason for the -2 or -1 stars) is that, I had also gotten a shellac manicure. It was supposed to last 2 weeks and for $30 I was hoping it would. Time management it's very important to me, and when I had to run so many errands on a busy Saturday morning, Yelp came to my rescue. I was in South Miami and the idea of a pedicure was getting an obsessive tone. Yelp took me to DK Nails. Before arriving, I realized parking could be a challenging task. And it was. Just be patient. But once I sat to enjoy my pedicure, I realized I did my homework finding a great place. They welcomed walk-ins, so I didn't have to wait. My technician took her time and did a great job. As long as the floor isn't slippery from the acrylic debris, the table tops are not dusty and the tools are organized and sanitized I'm fine. The prices: Acrylic set $30 and $35 for gel (this is fine, I've paid anywhere from 18 to 30) The nail tech: The manager did my nails and they came out so natural and slender, not thick square which is a plus. I haven't had gel in over 2 years, I'm happy with the results. The manager was talkative, very polite and welcoming. He addressed me by my name the whole time which is nice. They wouldn't fix a quick few nails today that got ruined the day before. I understand I am just walking in and they have clients; however, when she finally moves her client to sit for her nails and dips her hands in the bowl that's when she could've quickly asked what I needed. Instead she starts cleaning the pedicure bowl and tools, etc. She could've quickly removed my polish did a layer.. continued with the pick up... did another layer and I would have been out the door. I didn't even care a about the clear coat since I needed to get back to work. Also, I tipped her really good the day before even though she rushed through my APPOINTMENT to get to another client. I have given them my support time and time again even though their nail polish is not the best (I mean at all) but they're usually always available for walk ins. I went in on a Saturday early afternoon for a mani and eye brow waxing. For starters the location is great; right across the street from Sunset Place. There is parking either by garage or by the street. For a Saturday early afternoon the place was somewhat busy and got busier throughout my time there. I had my eye brows waxed first and was taken into a closet for this service. Inside the closet was a masseuse bed where the waxing was done. The masseuse bed had a bed sheet, which appeared to not have been changed. To me it was a bit disturbing as I wasn't sure how many people laid on the same sheet. Nonetheless, I was pressed for time and traveling the next day and subjected myself to the sheet. I was impressed however with how nice my eye brows came out. The nail tech did a great job shaping my eye brows and removing any little and fine unwanted hair. The next service was the shellac mani. The same nail tech that did my waxing worked on my nails. She was quick, proficient and did a decent job; she did leave some cuticles behind. The price for the services was appropriate. The shellac mani was great and withheld two weeks. The location is also open on Sunday. Overall, I would recommend this place just beware of the bed sheet. read more

I have found my go-to nail place....finally! For the past couple of years I have been hopping from place to place trying to find my glass slipper and I finally found it Sunday morning. I was going to go to Pinkies, but since nothing was open yet, I decided to do a bit of research on Yelp for shits and giggles. That's how I found DK.... I can't believe I had never been! it has literally been there all my life! The ladies were awesome, super friendly! Everything was clean and well kept and you can't beat the prices!! I treated myself to a spa pedicure and my pantorrilas came out glowing... they fit in magically! Also, they went out of their way to find the color I wanted in the O.P.I line because I mentioned I liked it better than Essie bc it lasted longer. Manis are only $10 with a pedi! I used to be a big fan of DK. There are very few good nail salons in the Gables and surrounding areas (not sure why...) and the best one, the Hand and Foot Company, charges, well, a hand a foot. So, alas, the quest for a decent mani/pedi in the Gables area continued. DK started out very well. $30 for a mani/pedi is great. Walk-ins are great. However, on my most recent trip here a few weeks ago, the tools were not sanitized. Not sanitized as in, I saw her take out the pedicure tools from her work station (not the sanitizer), use them on me, put them back, and then while I was getting the manicure, she used the same tools on another patron without cleaning/sterilization of any kind. Thanks, but no thanks. Also- their gel manicure (Shellac) is not good. She didn't take her time and while the no-chip manicure didn't chip, it did start to peel around the edges. Amateur move. I went in because I received a gel mani at another salon and needed it scraped off. I got a basic mani. The technician was pretty rough with my cuticles. You're supposed to GENTLY push the cuticles back, right? Well, let's just say she didn't use a light hand. In fact, she made me bleed on one of my nails. To be fair, my cuticles are on the dry side due to a medical condition I have, but I've been to a lot of nail salons and not one has ever made me bleed. I also noticed that she pulled her metal tools from inside a drawer and not from a sanitizer. No clue if they were sanitized before used on me (which makes me especially nervous, since I was bleeding!). Oh, and another thing: She didn't do a great job cleaning up nail polish around my cuticles. There's some nail polish stuck to my cuticles. Let them breathe. Apparently socks and sandals is a fashion faux pas? Since somebody pointed that out, I started wearing sandals bare and developed calluses on my baby soft feet... The pedicurist did not ask Push or Cut? She all of a sudden just began cutting. Pushing was not done completely and there were residual cuticle tissue left over giving an uneven and "choppy" result. This place was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was great - very relaxing with comfortable music. The nail areas are right up front, but the desks are neat and organized and they provide you with brown leather chairs which were oh-so comfortable. The pedicure area is toward the back with big, comfortable reclining seats and plenty of warm atmosphere with bamboo paintings and soft lighting. Even the bathroom was great here - had a night light when you first walk in, with good decor and very clean. The area where you wash your hands after an acrylic set was not in the typical bathroom area. Instead, it was between the nails and pedicure areas, in it's own little nook and was well decorated and inviting. The pedicure I received was totally awesome. They did a great job trimming my toes and the water was just right. She took extra care to make sure that my massage was perfect (and this was just a regular pedi, not even the spa!) and even gave extra care to my dry heels. When we were finished, she placed warm towels on my legs to help remove any soft residue from the intensive lotions. After, it was on to my manicure. I chose a full set of nails, which she did very well. The girl doing my nails was sweet, spoke great English and had a warm smile. I had a funky request to paint the tips red but leave the base in a clear coat, and even though she hadn't heard of that before, she understood right away what I wanted and did an amazing job on it. When we were done, I asked if she had an oblique for the nail tip and she did - she pulled out some cute butterflies and flowers. I chose a butterfly and she added it for free. She kept the conversation going by asking questions and was very happy and diligent. I should also mention, the entire staff was dressed nice, in pants and shirts which were fitting. The girls wore their hair back and had makeup (many places I've been to they wear the white coats, no makeup, hair looks awful, but these guys were totally different). Even the gentleman at the counter was dressed very nice and his answers were nice and exact. Overall, I was so pleased that I told all of them how happy I was and that I'd be back. They've won another star after my most recent visit. I'm done with shellacking, but I stopped in for a pedicure and acrylic set. There were a couple painful moments with the pedicure, and the girl doing it wasn't the friendliest, but I had a terrific experience getting my pink and white set. The nail tech was super friendly, and she did a fabulous job - the final product looks terrific! We'll see how it holds up over time, but so far, so good.
