Silvana Vengochea I want to start by saying you have significantly impacted my physcial, mental & emotional wellbeing. I have spent the last 2 years growing my hair out, doing scalp oil treatments, microneedling, hair treatments, no heat, no blow drying, filtered shower water, you name it. TWO YEARS OF DEDICATION!! Then you come along & in less than 24 hours you manage to absolutely detroy everything I've worked so hard on for the past 2 years. You lied to me over & over & over again during the Premiere Beauty Show. I asked you several times about the integrity of my hair & if my hair could handle the multiple processes you were doing. You assured me my hair was still healthy & nothing was wrong. Those were all lies but I think you knew that already. I have been crying every single day since the hair show. I can't look in the mirror. I don't want to even touch my hair because it feels like a brillo pad. My hair is BREAKING OFF AT THE SCALP. So, let's go through the chain of events. You put bleach on my hair for well over an HOUR with zero cares about the wellbeing of my hair or my scalp. You then dye my roots & tone the rest of my hair. At that point my hair should of been left alone but NOO you decide to have someone else who had no idea about the correct formulas put more color on my roots. You shouted across a crowded room expecting your ASSISTANT to hear you & make the correct formula. The color started to burn my scalp due to the over processsing. Then YOU decided to slap MORE BLEACH on already compromised hair & leave that on for 15 more mins when honestly all you needed was a clear with 10vol or 20vol to lift but YOU chose bleach the most damaging, but I digress. Then you added more toner & used non stop heat on it. Once I got home & saw the damage I was absolutely horrified to the point of severe depression & not eating for several days. Over the past month, my hair, no matter how delicate I am, is breaking off at the scalp. The entire front of my hair is orange and broken off at the scalp. I had burns on my scalp, ears and back of my neck. Your negligence severly injured me not only physically but mentally as well. Not to mention my agency is LIVID after what you all did to my hair. I'm a signed model with two different agencies that I can no longer work with until my hair grows out which will take a minimum of 7 months to two years and it's hair show season! I've already lost out in $10,000 worth of bookings. You were reckless, careless & aggressive with my hair, scalp, head & neck. Don't even get me started on the fact that it's summer in Florida & I can't even go to the pool because of the chlorine and my hair. What you did has severly negativity impacted my life. Who does this to someone? Like, honestly? What were you thinking? This isn't 2010 you can't destroy someone's entire head of hair that they use to make a living with and just run off to Miami like nothing ever happened. The internet and social media exist now. You out of all people should know once you damage someone's hair to this extent it's extremely possible that my hair will never grow back the same as it was. The beautiful wavey natural texture to my hair is now gone and it's very possible that it will never come back now. I have nightmares about what happened & I don't want anyone to touch me ever again. Which means I don't even know how to think about fixing this because I don't trust a single soul to touch me ever again. My hair needs a full blown color correction because of you which I can not afford. Oh & the hack job of a hair cut is the icing on the cake. You should lose your hair license. To be honest if I have anything to do with it that's exactly what's going to happen to you. I hope it was worth it. For context the pictures where I am wearing a pink sweatshirt, that was my hair before. As you can see my hair was LONG thick and beautiful. The other photos are the current condition of my hair. I was in the market for a keratin treatment and they happened to be offering a promo so I decided to give this salon a try. I was honestly very disappointed with the result. The solution was extremely watery, as if it was diluted, and after the first wash there was not much difference to my hair (which has never been the case with this treatment). I would've appreciated knowing I was paying nearly $200 for what feels like a one time blow dry before committing to going there. I feel like they didn't use a good product because of the promotion, but I've essentially just over processed my hair for nothing. First, to counteract the negative reviews below, it is sad that in the city of Miami, such a huge melting pot of Hispanic cultures, there is such racism/ignorance that a person would stop going to a location where they can admit that the services are good based solely on the fact that there are Spanish speakers in the salon. So, my question to you, when you go to a nail salon where the majority are chinese, japanese, vietnamese or korean, do you call it quits simply because they are speaking in their native tongue and YOU cannot understand? Your ignorance saddens me and the fact that you feel the need to feel "special" speaks more on you than the salon itself. Anywho! Moving on to the important stuff, Silvana's salon is the greatest. I've been to many salons from Broward County down all the way south into Dade County and I have to say that I will not ever go to another stylist that isn't Silvana. Whether she's speaking English or Spanish, low or loud in your ear, she will tell you with all honesty how she feels, as a color professional, about your wants with your hair and what you really need. Honesty is the best policy, always, in my opinion especially if I'm going to be wearing it on my head every day. I have never left there with a less than perfect cut, color nor hair treatment. The manicurists are the sweetest and while they do take a little longer, they definitely do an almost perfect job. The prices can be a little high for hands and feet, however, the time and detail is definitely worth it. Disregard the negative reviews below and give this salon a try, I can assure you that you will not ever want to leave. Silvana and her team do everything in their power to accommodate time, pricing and their skills to meet your every need. I've been going to Make Over House for over 10 years. I've mostly gone for mani and pedi but over the last year I've been consistently going for color thanks to my exponentially growing gray hair. So I wanted to update my review. I've known everybody in this hair salon. There has been some changes to the staff. My last appointment was yesterday. I had 4 rings of colors varying from gray to dark brown to red hues to blondish honey color at the ends. There has been a very unfortunate loss in owner's life and I really hope writing this here doesn't upset her because I wanna make a point, sooo I didn't expect much perfection at all. I just wanted to get rid of my gray hair. She had her salon full as I was thinking to my self how she's even functioning. She was like a hawk over her new personnel making sure that every move they make, every brush or stroke they take is absolutely perfect, trained with attention to detail. She was jumping from one customer's hair to another making sure everything looks to her standards. I couldn't believe my eyes. She was timing everybody's hair process even though she had her staff taking care of them. She made sure she didn't miss one step. It's beyond me how she can accomplish all this with the state she's emotionally at. And when they washed and dried my hair, my gray hair was covered in perfection and let me tell you my gray hair is only at the front and at very very thin so it's really hard to cover as well as no ring anymore! No more multicolor I created by sometimes dying it my self because of being a mother of a toddler. I also never told her that I really wanted to keep some of the caramel gold color at the ends of my hair cause hey you can't get it all right but I had the most perfect strokes of caramel as if She highlighted my hair. So I wanna shout out to all women from here that if you wanna meet a warrior entrepreneur, a warrior mother, an amazing eye of an artist go meet with Silvanna because I feel privileged to know her not only as a business owner but also an excellent mother and a person. I did some research (as I always do) and found this salon through this app and I couldnt agree more with the below reviews! I'm really happy with how Silvana did my hair she also gave me some really good tips for dry scalp and maintaining life to my hair. I already had a balayage but I wanted the top portion of my hair to blend with the blonde color I had towards the bottom of my hair (more of a sombre style). I prefer the more blended look. My original hairstylist (whom I also love) is always booked and I needed someone quick and this is why I came here. I'm EXTREMELY selective with who I let touch my hair but I'm happy with my choice and I would definitely recommend her. I'll be coming back again. read more

Where do I start... I'm the type of person who has never been to a salon more than once (well, I was loyal to one until management changed) because I've never been satisfied with the work done at salons in Miami. I've had my fair share of burns with stylists who don't speak any English, stylists who speak English but are not listening to anything you say you want, and stylists who are just plain bad. I've never been to a salon where the stylist takes her time to explain why you shouldn't do something that will really damage your hair and explains another route to get the same results without killing your hair. Makeover House is a breeze of fresh air. Not only did they squeeze me and the 4 hours of services I needed into their Saturday schedule at the last minute, they did so with a smile - happy to help me envision a long term goal and happy to recommend options to get to that goal. She stripped the awful red out of my hair, sealed the ends, gave me natural looking highlights and lowlights (actually fixed a highlight that bled that I would NEVER have noticed), a beautiful base color, put a softening treatment, cut my hair, and blow dried it. Silvana is absolutely wonderful. A master colorist, she learned many tricks from her stylist mother. She keeps an eye on all guests at all times, doublechecking stylist work, refilling coffee and engaging you in one-on-one conversations so fluid and comfortable anyone around would think that you've been friends for years. I searched Yelp and decided to trust the reviews and I'm so glad I did as my overall experience at Makeover House was fantastic!! The ease of making an appointment was impressive. I called a Friday afternoon and they gave me an appointment for the very next day. Upon arrival I waited maybe 5 minutes before Silvana asked me what I wanted and we began our little adventure. I normally have an idea of what I want and show it to the stylist and then give them full reign to tweak it, after all, they are the professionals (I know not everyone shares this thought and that's ok). She used Olaplex which is heaven in a bottle. After the highlights, she had 2 ladies from her team detangle my hair piece by piece at the same time. This was a tedious and semi long process since I have long thick hair and she had used a specific method for the highlights but it showed that she cares for the hair (probably more than me because I would've detangled it savagely). The color and cut came out great and I was beyond satisfied. The entire team was welcoming and friendly. It was a very relaxing atmosphere! As to the pricing, I found it to be within market range, not cheap but not ridiculously priced either. I don't mind paying for quality work. I will definitely return! read more

I am a perfectionist and extremely OCD when it comes to my nails. I am the type of anal person that breathes down the manicurist's neck to ensure that she is doing everything perfectly, that is until I met Nubia. She is the most amazing nail tech in South Florida, she is just as OCD as I am when it comes to doing nails and she always leaves them perfect, polished and extra shiny. Went here for the first time today based on the reviews I read on yelp and I'm so happy I did! I went in for a haircut, called at around 9.30 am and got an appointment for 1pm the same day. The whole staff was super welcoming and nice. Silvana cut my hair and she totally understood what I wanted. I had the most horrible, traumatizing experience at this salon that I had to write a review to inform others so they don't make the same mistake I did by getting a haircut here. I have been going to this salon for 15 years for color and never had an issue since Silvana does a good job doing color. I decided to go in to do a haircut which was a huge, regrettable mistake. I have gotten a haircut from Silvana once many years ago that was also not that great, but I decided to try it again since she was skilled with color and thought she would do a better job on a cut this time. I came in with a picture of the style I had in mind and Silvana completely ruined my hair. I understand that it's not always possible to get the exact same haircut as in a picture, but what she did to my hair was completely unacceptable and beyond negligent. The picture I came in was a short style, but instead of looking at the details of the picture, Silvana took it upon herself to cut the majority off which left me looking very masculine. I told her while she was cutting that it was way too much, but she insisted that she was doing it the right way. I told her to please stop because it was not what I wanted and she proceeded to throw the scissors in front of my face and onto my lap yelling that she is doing it the right way. She left into another room screaming for me to just get up and leave. I left the salon after paying for the color that she did prior to the cut since I am an honest woman and don't accept anything for free. I do agree that Silvana does color decently, but she definitely is not capable of a styled cut. I was so upset when I left the salon, since I did not feel feminine and completely in shock. I had to then go to another salon where the stylist tried to blend in my uneven hair. He did the best he could do, but of course, this could have been prevented if Silvana was competent and listened to what I wanted or at least communicate if she was unable to do it. The hair on the back of my head is uncolored and the stylist who corrected my cut explained he was unable to do any highlights since it was so short and the highlights would not come out right. As a woman, when you go to the salon, you expect to leave feeling amazing, but I promise you that you will not feel this way after coming to Makeover House. Silvana is rude to her clients and doesn't deserve your business. As a businesswoman myself, I suggest Silvana to be more respectable to her clients and keep in mind that the customer is always right. I have been going to this salon for about seven years and I wouldn't trade Silvana for any hairdresser. I have moved to the Northeast, back to Miami, and now to the Midwest for school and I have never found someone that knows color as well as she does. She considers your eye color, skin tone, hair thickness, and how much work you are willing to maintaining your color, and finds the perfect solution for you. It also helps that she is straight-forward and lets clients know if a certain haircut or color will not favor them; many a time clients are stubborn and insist on a look that frankly will not work for them, and that is where the negative reviews and experiences for this business come about. She really cares about her clients and wants them to look and feel their best. As a matter of fact, I went to New York about 6 years ago to go more blonde (I admit I cheated on Makeover House... BIG MISTAKE) and the results were an absolute disaster. The hairdresser dyed my hair dark brown 3 times to 'remove the existing highlights' then attempted to do balayage over it and left me with orange, patchy streaks. I came back to Miami crying and Silvana squeezed me in to her already packed schedule and worked her magic. She didn't have to spend 8+ hours that day fixing my hair and talking me through the process- but she did. It took about a year of keratin treatments, deep conditioning, and monthly haircuts to bring my hair back to its healthy, shiny state. And that hair care regimen was designed by Silvana. If that doesn't depict the kind of business Silvana and her team run, then I don't know what to tell you. I'll continue to fly to Miami from wherever I live, for her hair magic. I went here because of the reviews from yelp. I called on Tuesday for an appointment for the next day, very accommodating. I just needed a cut. New customers get 20% off so my cut ended up being $32 and that's without a blow dry. I wanted a blow dry but the price for a blow dry would have jumped to $60. I thought that would have been an expensive blow dry for having cut 5 inches off. Anywho! I really liked that I was in and out in a half hour. They have a rewards system so you can earn points/spots. When I say I didn't like, its really such an insignificant aspect but I didn't like looking for parking! I parked at the meter six quarters for an hour was a little much, courthouses are less expensive. When I went in I had asked where to park and they said free guest parking is on the 6th floor of the parking garage. read more

I have been coming here since I was about ten years old. With that said, I am 25 now! I have never had a bad hair cut, on the contrary, this is the only place where I cut my hair. I have tried different salons over the years, but no one does a great job like them. I have thin curly hair and they are the only people who can layer it correctly so I do not look like little bo peep or something like that. Everyone compliments me on my natural curls. This is a salon where you come in and you know you are in good hands, because there is nothing worse than being in a chair, having some stranger cut your hair, and anxiety as you sit in that chair, hoping that the hairdresser doesn't cut too much or cuts the wrong piece of hair. I have done highlights twice, and they have done a great job with that aswell. They made the highlights look natural and my hair did not friz or become damaged as a result. I will be going this week to get a mani/pedi and waxed, which they also do a fantastic job. My mani/pedi's last about two weeks, toes a litle longer than two weeks.
