This place is awesome. I am always looking for an honest shop and I found it here at DJ's. Not much to look at and kind of non descript but they do fab work. The owner gets involved in the work too and last time in they fixed what I needed and was honest about what I thought were other issues. Driving down from Pittsburgh on a road trip to Gulf Shores. My AC would no longer cool off my car, making for a 15hr road trip driving in an oven literally hot as Hell. I tried charging it myself with freon & I noticed a significantly cooler difference. Then my family who drove it a ack seat & said, dude your wife's hot, so I took it to DJ's to fix the air & showed her I care. They took a look at my AC unit saying it was something else & that charging it with freon didn't help make my car cooler. They fix the problem right away, charged me $100 & didn't try to upsell me by saying I needed other work done to my car. I absolutely loved how their mechanics & staff are friendly, helpful, & quick about getting their customers car in the garage & back on the road again ready to enjoy their days in paradise. Stopped by just to vacuum out the car. $1.00/4 minutes. Vacuums were very strong, easily vacuumed out all the sand. Also used fragrance machine that had 3 different scents (vanilla, wild cherry, new car). Can also shampoo mats/seats. Don't do it... I hate that I feel like I have to write this buuuuut... You have to know! I have a 96 3.0 v6 Camry... Brought it in Due to crazy coolant leak that I don't have the tools to fix. ( Intake manifold had to come off ) DJ seemed like a good guy.. He mentioned I had a Valve cover leak so since Intake had to be removed, might as well tackle valve cover gaskets... I also mentioned it was close to Timing belt & water pump replacement. He said he doesn't do those! That should have been my 1st red flag!! So he referred me to another shop that I didn't feel comfortable with. So I brought it back to DJ. Telling him I felt more comfortable with him! (I'll do timing belt later) The job called for 3.2 hrs. Labor he mentioned "around $500" Now, that was Thursday afternoon... Friday I called around 4pm he answered the phone. And said " everything is broke" and just mentioned the pcv valve. Well they are closed Saturday and Sunday, meaning I wasn't getting my car till mid Monday!.. OK, fine... But here's where they set me off!!! When I arrived, DJ was pulling out as I got out of my car! I had Iridium plugs with maybe 20,000 miles on them!!! ( They're $35 plugs good for 100,000 Miles!!!) And replaced them with cheapos!! Then charged me $72 for them. When I asked the about them, they said "well if there was a misfire we'd have to replace them" ... Well when you pulled my plugs and saw they were Nice Iridium plugs in great condition... You didn't think to call the customer!!!? And discuss it?!!! What about the plug wires!!? Did you replace them to since you were worried about misfire??? Nope!!! So, I made them give me the plugs they pulled out!!! Then he says, "and we replaced the air filter"... I'm like dude!!! That's a K&N air filter I had in there with maybe 15,000 miles!!! You can't tell a K&N when you see it?!! Needless to say, Job took 4 days!! And Bill came to $695!!! From the "around$500" !!! So no, not tickled with the service!! Now, the leak repair? Seems fine... But I won't be back! And anything outside of simple oil change.. I'm not feeling it! read more

Asked them about a problem that had been popping up, they said they wouldn't fix it till it actually went out because the cost was $200-$600. I was pleased with the service and honesty of the team at DJs. They got my car in quickly and had it done the same day.

The battery indicator light came on in our SUV and later in the day it would not start, just a clicking sound. I thought it might be the alternator. We were on vacation in Gulf Shores from St. Louis so I checked Yelp. DJ's was highly recommended by travelers in similar situations so I gave them a call. Mason said they could squeeze it it the next day, so I had AAA tow it the short distance from where we were staying. I asked them to check the serpentine belt as well since they would be working with it if the alternator needed to be replaced. They actually called that same day and said it may just be the battery, as they tested it and it was putting out 12 volts, but was way low on cold cranking amps. He said he even tried to jump it with his 2-battery truck and it wouldn't start. He said they had to order a battery and it would be in the next morning. It turned out both the battery and alternator were bad but he said they checked the serpentine belt and it was fine. The vehicle was ready when promised and I felt the price paid for the repair was very fair, actually a couple hundred dollars less than I would have likely paid at the repair shop I go to in St. Louis. I highly recommend DJ's, they are trustworthy, do great work, rapid turnaround, and very fair pricing. read more

I thought I had blown my rear bearings, I absolutely new (totally NOT being a mechanic) that was the issue. I was ready to drop $500 to get it fixed. Can't say enough how helpful this shop was to us tourist. We received a quote for some fairly simple work from a local Chrysler dealer that included a unnecessary full inspection. The dealer's diagnoses seemed high. So we called DJ's for a second opinion. DJ looked at just our issue and saved us a bunch of money! It was done in a matter of hours!! Also, they had to put our interior console back together which was left over from our dealership inspection, which by the way wasn't even associated with our issue. Our issue was hub related!! February 2017 - Had a pleasant auto repair experience with 'John' at Gulf Shores DJ's Auto Service. While on vacation at the Gulf, our 2010 Subaru Forester rear brakes wore out (metal on metal) making it impossible to return to the Midwest without fixing first. Researching, we read favorable reviews about DJ's, drove the vehicle in, met 'John' (friendly, personable, efficient) where he assessed the problem and gave us a reasonable repair estimate. He ordered the parts, and the very next day made the repairs at the price he'd previously quoted. All was good. Only way it could be better is if we could get 'John' to move to the Midwest! read more

Driving from Wisconsin to Gulf Shores for the winter we experienced a hum in the car. We had installed new tires before the trip so suspected those. After being in GS a while it started to get louder so we stopped at a local repair garage. They told me both front bearings were bad and needed to be replaced. He quoted me a price that was as much as I paid to replace all 4 bearing hubs 2 years earlier, so I knew that was very high. I went to DJ's to get a price from them. They immediately identified a bad wheel bearing in one of the front wheels - quote was a fraction of the other shop. I asked about both bearings and they said let's do the one we know is bad and only do the other front bearing if it shows to need replacing. The car is dead quiet after replacing just the first bearing hub. They could easily have agreed to do both hubs and taken advantage of me but this shop is totally trustworthy. I will use them again as needed and I recommend them to others. read more
