I went with tehina and my date the chicken one. He also ordered this lemon beverage thing that he knows bc of israel and I went with beer in a can bc who can resist anything in a can. They serve you the shit in a big bowl with a little bowl of tomato and cucumber chunks and a baby pickle. Pita on the side. In the tehina one is some green stuff in the middle. I did notice something was stringy in there. Relative to the vast majority of the hummus that is available in this area, this stuff is really spectacular. It's not the best hummus I've ever had, I MIGHT be able to make better hummus (no you cannot come over) but it's really great. One pita isn't really enough and I believe you have to pay for more which is bull shiz if you ask me. I'm actually getting so hungry thinking of this that I just opened a bag of rold gold tiny twists original. Yes I did tilt the bag towards my oral cavity to get that last bit of salt at the bottom. With all Dizengoff's main hummus meals, you receive a large bowl of hummus (duh); toppings on the hummus (e.g., chicken shawarma, falafel, etc., depending on what you order); a wonderful, freshly-baked pita (I'm normally a bread snob, but this was amazing - soft and spongey on the inside, a little charred and crispy on the outside); and a small salad of pickled vegetables. On one hand, it felt weird to eat just hummus, bread, and pickles for dinner. On the other hand, it's definitely a healthy and filling meal. It is a bit thicker than the pita I grew up on, but it really works well with the creamy hummus. We also ordered the fried peppers (an extra $4), which came with a divine tahini sauce. The hummus itself was pretty good but not amazing. I'm sure the other hummus types with more stuff are more interesting though. The hummus comes with cucumbers, pickled onions, and a pickle. The real star of the show was the pita. It was warm, soft, crunchy and flakey all all the same time! You can see the pitas in the oven and they make the space smell amazing. Paid around $14. The hummus was just delicious. Creamy and packed with flavors. The ground beef complimented and elevated the hummus in a really nice way. I was surprised that the pickled egg tasted that great. You could really appreciate the sweetness and flavors of the beet. PSA: This hummus is addictive. I literally have cravings for specifically Dizengoff hummus. Keep this in mind before trying it - seriously one of my favorite spots in Philly. Atmosphere: Casual, with seating options inside (maybe enough room for 15-20). Seems predominately like a takeout place to me. Cashiers are very friendly, and the food comes out very quickly (I've waited for less than 5 minutes). Food: The hummus combined with their olive oil, and toppings (I've gotten chicken almond and chicken with carrots) is just perfect. They give a large portion size of hummus - I always feel so full afterwards - and protein! The garnishes will change daily, so be sure to check online or on Instagram in case there's one you're specifically craving. Pita is always served warm and fluffy; perfect pairing to the hummus. My only complaint is that one time, I felt a bit sick after eating their beet salad (perhaps not the freshest beets?). Because this occurrence was so rare in the number of times I've been to Dizengoff, I've looked past it. Recommended must-try: Get their coffee-braised hard-boiled egg. It's usually a bit yolky still inside, and a perfect complement to their hummus and pita. Overall: 4.5 / 5, amazing hummus that I return to, over and over again. Best hummus I've ever had! Michael Solomonov knows good Israeli cooking, and what a fantastic idea for him to take the pita and hummus from his premier restaurant Zahav and offer it to the masses! The hummus is literally the only thing on the menu--you can choose from a variety of toppings, which vary day-by-day. On my visit, I got the sunchoke hummus, which came with beautifully roasted sunchokes, herbs, and olive oil. But the best part, of course, was the light, ethereal, perfectly-spiced hummus. It's so hard to describe why it's so good, but it's absolutely perfect for dipping and eating with the fresh, fluffy pita. An order also comes with Israeli salad and pickles on the side, which were a bit on the sour side for me. Come here for the hummus! Make sure you get in there for shakshuka Sunday! If you've never had shakshuka its eggs cooked in a tomato sauce seasoned with cumin, paprika, coriander and a few other ingredients. The menu here is pretty simple, but the hummus is the incredible! Dizengoff is part of the CookNSolo restaurant group that also runs Zahav, which serves the best hummus, among other creations. Dizengoff hummus is basically almost just as good as Zahav's hummus, and The hummus platters are always spot-on. The hummus is incredibly smooth and creamy and flavorful, and the platters vary from a Classic Hummus Tehina Platter to vegetarian (ex: Eggplant & Almond) to meat (ex: Chicken & Kale). The menu actually changes constantly based on whatever fresh ingredients they have available, so I'd recommend following their Instagram page for the latest updates.
