Out of the 3 sessions we attended, 2 were noticeably outstanding, and we're already planning to return every summer as long as we're in California. Her pool is heated, has a safety gate around it, and she's incredibly attentive. You can tell she takes safety seriously and catches things quickly, which gives us so much peace of mind. I also loved being able to sit and watch, and I noticed her working so patiently with a wide range of kids, including those with special needs. She truly meets each child where they're at. As a pediatric ICU respiratory therapist, I can't stress enough how important water safety is--there's no second chance in the water. Please, parents, prioritize swim lessons for your children. If you are looking for a Japanese school for your child to attend, they offer that. If you would like to just learn more about the community through the different cultural classes, just sign up for the emails and you can be alerted for upcoming classes that they offer. I've taken amigurumi (crochet), ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), and a cooking class. All of the instructors are great and mostly volunteers. So it just shows you what a great community there is. They have festivals through the year and also help put on the West Covina Cherry Blossom Festival. They also host the West Covina obon at the center but it is organized by the Buddhist church which is based out of the community center. So there is just a lot of activities that you can get involved with.
