One of the benefits of social media is to allow the owners of responsible companies using it to have a direct line of communication to dis-satisfied customers, so that they can try to make things right. Rob Sola, the "new" owner of DMS, is just that person, and when he became directly aware of my situation, he quickly and effectively worked with his team to do his best to help with my boat. As the longtime owner of a "Good Old Boat", it can be challenging to get services - so many things have changed. When DSM acquired Bay Shore Marine in 2017, the process of integrating a fairly large and well established Marine engine repair service into a similarly large and well established boat repair service could not have been easy, and Rob is still methodically working out the details, clearly. However, the efforts and attention to detail that Rob and one of his top (and very experienced) mechanics, Sean, have shown in handling not only the technical repairs to my transmission and alternator, but also addressing some of the procedural breakdowns in their back office's handling of the work orders and follow up, has been very reassuring. Sean patiently listened to my extended history of the engine issues and promptly ascertained that what appeared to be a possible warranty issue, was in fact a new issue, that he addressed as best he could given the circumstances. Owning an older boat is a journey, and I am appreciative that I can continue to rely on the new ownership of DSM to do what they can to support the journey, and point me in the right direction when it is beyond their expertise. One can't really expect much more out of repair service. Annapolis is a great boating community and they are fortunate to have this company as a local resource. read more

My Kohler generator stopped working right at the end of my warranty period, and at the beginning of the boating season. The dealer was so backlogged they couldn't get to it for six weeks, so I took a recommendation and called Diversified, recently taken over by a new owner. The problem turned out to be more complicated than just replacing the raw water pump impeller, and what appeared to be a simple problem turned out to be more. Troubleshooting and repairing a problem isn't always simple and straightforward, and fixing the generator in this case required significant input from the manufacturer, replacing a part that shouldn't have failed on a generator only a year old, and attention from a junior, then a senior technician. The billable labor stacked up, and about $60 in parts cost about $700 to install. In the end, Diversified replaced the impeller AND the thermostat that caused my problem. Also, after speaking with the owner he did not charge me for all the extra work. What impressed me most about this job overall was how straightforward, honest, and fair he was when we reviewed what had been done. Every business wants to be perceived to have those qualities, but I observed Diversified operating by them at a moment when it cost them. I think this is rare to hear about, and even more uncommon to see in practice. For the integrity and high level of customer service the owner demonstrated, I'd use them again and even recommend them to a friend. read more

I'm writing this letter to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Rob, Jose and Diversified Marine Services Inc., in Annapolis, Maryland for the attention they gave us, their response time to our customer, and the professionalism shown with respect to some recent boat repairs. I have been a boater all my life and a boat owner for several decades. My biggest complaint about service--nobody does what they say they are going to do, when they say they are going to do it, for the cost the quote. In the boating service industry this is an epidemic! I started with DMS seeking a quote to repair a leaking fuel tank. Jose was my contact person. Jose and his team went above and beyond to get me information about how to replace the tank properly. I ended up going with a repair instead, but called them as soon as that was complete to start in on the list of other things the boat needed. We truly appreciated the professionalism from entire DMS team that worked with us to get our boat recommissioned after a lengthy stay on the hard. Diversified helped us address a number of key systems to include rig, autopilot/steering, rudder and galley. I've never reviewed anything in my life. I've been a boat owner for 35 years in Annapolis. I've frequently been disappointed by marine trade companies that overpromise and underdeliver -- and usually late at that! Not Diversified. They prepped my large sailboat for launch and even sent two staff to the splash to inspect seacocks and touch up the bottom paint. When the engine needed surprise servicing, they had a mechanic onboard within 12 hours to fix it. All this during peak spring season. Truly remarkable and professional service. Highly recommend! I've reached out to Diversified for scheduled work, and they've been great. I recently had my engine go out unexpectedly, however, right around the 4th of July weekend. I reached out to Rob and Jose, and they were fantastic in getting out to my boat over a busy holiday time ,and sorting out the problem in a very timely manner, and fixing the problem.
