We have our boat in Edgewater and were looking to find a new mechanic that we could establish an ongoing relationship with. I found Persimmon Point online and decided to call and get some information. I spoke with Alex and right away knew I liked him. He was very upfront and honest with me about the time it might take to get things done on my boat. He explained that he had some other customers waiting for service as well and wanted to be sure that he could take care of everyone. He told me that if the boat was there on his lot, it was likely that the timing would be sooner. We made arrangements for him to pick up the boat since we live an hour away (thrilled they offer that service). I told him what we thought the boat needed and he gave me an estimate of the pricing and even explained why some items may require more time than others. The Outdrive on my boat had suffered a catastrophic failure. I had spent tens of thousands on the boat rebuilding the engine last year and now in the third week of July I was DONE. All I wanted was a rebuilt or new Outdrive to install myself. (I've been a mechanic 40 years) Every place I called said in a few weeks I might be able to get it to you maybe if I can possibly find one and I WILL call you back. Those places didn't call back. So I called them. Finally found a Company selling a rebuild for 1/2 the price of a new one. Wasted FOUR days trying to close the deal and they wouldn't return my calls. I had called Alex at Persimmon Point Marine earlier and didn't want buy a NEW one.... at first.... but he changed my mind. He told me no more than a week-----Then he did something that I am SO THANKFUL for. He asked me questions he looked for the best option for me. Because of his knowledge and experience we settled on a different gear ratio. I came and paid for it like I said I would on a Thursday hoping to have it in a week. He did what he said he would do, told me they'd have it Friday or Monday.....They called me Friday.... in 22 HOURS ....My outdrive was there! I picked it up installed it that Friday night, launched Saturday morning. Not only did I get back in the water in less than a week, I now have a BRAND NEW factory MerCruiser Outdrive. It is much quieter, I get on plane much easier, the engine labors less. But the best part? After a very bad experience with another boatyard, I went back to Persimmon Point Marine when I had a recent electrical issue with my boat. I went inside just to see if I could leave the boat and have them take a look. Alex came out to the dock, diagnosed the issue, and fixed me up in five minutes. He didn't charge me a dime, but earned a customer for as long as I own a boat. For the record, this review is not based on this experience alone. When I bought the boat in 2016, PPM checked the boat for me and did all necessary repairs to get it in top shape. Last winter, I went to another yard closer to my dock on Spa Creek. Big mistake. The quality of work, the customer service, and the attitude of the owners and staff at that other shop simply don't come close to the level of service from PPM. read more

What can I say about Persimmon Point Marine. We purchased a boat a few months back and we had issues with the engine. July 4th unfortunately we broke down and had to get towed in. I called Mercury for them to recommend a service shop. Persimmons came highly recommended as a premier service shop. Well they didn't disappoint!! This family run shop was amazing! They trouble shoot, serviced and explained everything that needed to be done and recommended services for a 2004 boat with no pressure. Communication was amazing and when they sent the bill i was expecting it to be way more that it was. Our boat has never run so smoothly and going forward Persimmon Point Marine is now my one and only shop! They are the best!!!!
