I really love this place. I only wish they would open a store in California so that I could visit. I've bought a fair amount of gear from them over the last few years, including computers, lights and regulators. They are my "come to" store for tech gear, since there really isn't a local store for me that stocks that kind of gear. They have an excellent selection of first-rate gear at reasonable prices. Since I end up buying on the Internet, I appreciate that they have highly responsive staff that quickly completes orders and sends it out. On occasion, I've ordered things that were temporarily back ordered. They are quick to let me know what's up and ask how I want to handle it. I have never set foot in their physical store but have made several on-line purchases. They have an excellent easy to use website. Orders are filled quickly and their UPS ground arrives faster than advertised. Staff on phone orders know their product and are divers. Supports the tec-wreck niche quite nicely. Dive Right In Scuba is a good place to shop. The staff is always friendly and professional. They are quite knowledgeable on their product line. You will always be treated with respect, no matter what your diving skill level is. On my first visit I informed the employee that I was just window shopping and I was given a complete tour of the place. I have never felt any pressure to buy anything. 12 aug my dry suit was sent in for repair. It is now 1 nov. (and due for arrival tomorrow) it was sent in for multiple repairs which I understand takes time. However, when it was returned to me a month ago, it still leaked- on the zipper area when they replaced the zipper! When they placed the self replacing seal system, they put the hard ovals in on different directions on each wrist. Apparently spending over $600 doesn't get quality. I will not send my suit back to them ever again. They have a one year Warenty on repairs. However, when you send it back because they haven't sealed it correctly, you have to tell them where the leak is because they can't find it on their major leak test. They have failed. read more

If you are using another dive shop...you are most likely being used by another dive shop. These folks are FANTASTIC. They have high quality gear at the best available prices. If their price isn't the lowest you find, let them know and they will match. The customer service is top notch. They place a premium on customer service and it will be obvious to you the first time you work with them. I live in Austin, TX but the dive shop in Plainfield, IL feels like and serves as my local dive shop. They are that good. You will not be disappointed. read more

Dive Rite In Scuba (DRIS) is my new favorite shop even being 40 miles away from it! I was in need of some technical diving gear (currently taking classes in PAD Tec 40,45,50). It's tough for me to make it there during the week so Tim L. at the shop was willing to come in on a Sunday morning to help me get fitted out in the new gear. We looked at different options for setup and equipment and I never felt pressured. I'll be coming back when I get a chance and will also recommend to others anytime someone needs a good scuba shop. During my first shopping experience with Dive Right in Scuba, I placed an order for a product which the merchant's website said was in stock and would ship for free. Upon checkout, I discovered that the shipping was NOT free, and that my least expensive shipping option was to pay $12.75 for a medium, Priority Mail, flat-rate box even though I only ordered one small part (I checked the actual cost to ship: $2.67). A day later, I received a notification saying that the part was not in stock and a new shipment wouldn't arrive for another 5 to 7 days. Two weeks later, I received another notification saying it would be several more days before the shipment was expected to be back in stock, and therefore it would be at least another week before I would receive it. To date, I'm still waiting for the one small (2.4 oz.) part which I paid $100 for, was lied to about twice, and charged $10 more for shipping than what it actually costs to send. Not a good first impression at all. I will never shop here again, and will tell all divers I meet to avoid buying anything from Dive Right In Scuba. read more

I've gotten so much stuff here, like 4 sets of HOG regs, steel HP120 tanks, wings, straps, hoses, air fills. The owners are great people. The employees are super skilled. I got my PADI Advanced Card through this shop. They have two boats so you can go diving on the big lake. If tec diving is your thing, this is the shop for you. read more

I went to this shop for a Nitrox certification class and was very impressed by both the course and the store itself. The store has a lot more gear than most local shops and it's nice to be able to see the items I've been considering in person. The guys working there were helpful talking through what I needed for an upcoming trip. It takes a couple hours to get to the shop but despite that I intend to go back soon. read more

I first heard of Dive Right In from a friend who had purchased some dry gloves from them and was happy with the item and price and service. A bit later I was in the market for some dry suit seals and, after searching around online, I found their prices to be the best. Over the phone, their customer service was great. I had called to just check if the items I was after were in stock because I was planning on stopping in the store to pick them up, and the sales staff checked on that and confirmed their hours (near to Thanksgiving, so I wanted to make sure of their holiday hours). When I stopped in, I again got great service. Their storefront is very nice. Lots of gear, but it's a good floor plan so you can walk around looking at everything without knocking the displays over. One of the sales staff (Chris Lowe) was kind enough to give me a quick tour of their operation: nice basic classroom, nice storefront, but the best part is the very large back part of the store where they handle the online sales, rental gear, equipment repair and maintenance, tank maintenance, and dry suit repair. Their dry suit tech was kind enough to take some time out to demonstrate and explain the TiZip dry suit zipper to me (I had never seen it before, and was only familiar with the metal-toothed zipper). So overall it was a great visit. They're a popular place and I can understand why: great service, experienced sales and repair staff, competitive prices, wide range of product. And they also run a couple of dive boats and organize trips. read more

hands down the worst online retail experience I've ever had. when I say this was my worst online retail experience ever, I don't mean strictly related to scuba equipment, I mean EVER! what will follow is a lengthy, detailed description of my personal experience, but they take home points are as follow: -i am a dive professional who has also worked in scuba retail -i STRONGLY reccomend use of another retailer -terrible customer service i recently had all of my dive gear stolen. this experience, to which many of you can relate, can be an ordeal to rectify. to compound the inconvenience of this tragedy, it was discovered days before i flew out for my next dive trip. upon discovering that my gear had gone missing, i began piecing together a new set, and some of my gear is difficult to find online. i ended up having to place orders with six different online retailers to assemble the set-up that I'd formerly possessed. naturally i was thrilled to find Dive Right In Scuba as they had some gear that was virtually unavailable elsewhere online. they also had expedient shipping options, so i thought i would receive my order before i flew out days later. the following day i received an email telling me my order had been cancelled due to its failure to meet the stringent requirements of their "security check". after calling their store, speaking to a customer service representative, and being placed on hold several times for very long durations, i was finally put in contact with someone who seemed to be in a managerial position. Mike, maybe? he informed me that several details of my order raised "red flags" for security in their system. i was on the phone with him for over 30 minutes clarifying information that other retailers with whom i've dealt(including leisurepro.com, scuba.com, amazon.com, diveseekers.com, and the hundreds of non-scuba related establishments I've patronized since the inception of online retail) had no issue, he requested additional information which I'd almost consider an invasion of privacy(my current living situation, diver cert. number, etc.). i was accused of fabricating false addresses that couldn't be located via google maps, to which i responded by walking the representative on the phone through what can only be described as a step-by-step google maps tutorial. i was told that my phone number of sixteen years did not belong to me after a google search, and was told that my order could not be shipped to an address that was not the billing address(definitely do not try to buy a gift), after which i requested that they do send it to the billing address, but was refused. in fact i was told that they had elected not to process my order altogether. if they are this insanely paranoid of fraudulent credit card use, that's fine, but ulitimately, these people wasted invaluable shipping time, my time on the telephone, and overstepped boundaries by requesting too much information. by the end of the entire transaction, i had grown skeptical as to the legitimacy of this business as a whole. as someone who has worked in dive retail, and has been professionally diving for several years, i STRONGLY recommend NOT using this company. very cumbersome process that only yielded frustration and inconvenience. read more
