Worst place I've ever seen !!! First, a terrible attitude !!! From the owner's side !!!! Me and another friend made an appointment 3 days before and they didn't even write it in a journal, I had to wait half an hour for my turn ... When I asked when the turn was just ignored and didn't answer. I felt I talked to the wall. The girls talk and laugh about the customers in their face !!! And worst of all when they started doing my nails they didn't even clean my nails at all !!! I showed them a picture with the most simplest color (Fannie Bunny Pink !!!! Man...I hate to be the Debbie Downer of reviews but I feel the need to be honest with my fellow Yelpers here. My experiences here definitely don't mirror those of the other ladies. The first time I came here in November was to get my pedi on. Cause I'm a girlie girl who likes to get pampered...But I'm also a baller on a budget so I'm not about to throw down dinner and a movie type prices on my nails. I originally planned on getting a fill and a pedi but Helen (the owner) got sick that day and went home. Like overly dramatic, she acted like she was dying sick. Her sister even kept stopping in the middle of my pedicure several times to hug her, call Helen's husband, and cry. Yes people. Full on tears in the eye crying. It was pretty dramatic. I felt like I was watching a soap opera on TFC for a minute there.... Anywho, so that left me alone in the shop with her sister (who speaks VERY very little English). 2+ HOURS later, she finally finished and I left. My feet were looking okie dokie. So I thought that maybe this was a fluke. I wanted to like this place from the awesome reviews, so I went again a couple weeks ago for a fill and pedi. Well, apparently Helen is pregnant. And she doesn't do acrylics because her husband "doesn't want her breathing in all the fumes" Umm. Sweetie, you do know you're in a nail shop, breathing in the fumes all day anyways? And she could file my nails but just couldn't apply the acrylic...? But she'll do gel nails. *insert WTFeezie face here* This made no sense to me. So her sister ended up doing my nails. And, as sweet as pie as her sister is, she really has no idea what she's doing. I wonder if she even has a license to do nails... My nails came out hella thin, uneven, and the acrylic started lifting after less than a week. She also spent, again, 2+ HOURS on JUST my nails. And they didn't even get PAINTED within this time. I ended up having to paint my own effin nails at home that night. I also ended up not even getting a pedi cause it took so long. I've given this place 2 chances; total epic FAIL both times. So the building looks rundown as well as the interior, I wasn't confident in the cleanliness of it. The women who work there are nice, but the woman helping me kept on answering her cell phone while trying to do my nails. The nail polish selection is lacking. I got a full set last week... I walked in and only had to wait about 10 minutes. The ladies Helen and Amy were super sweet and friendly. But... it took about 2 hours to get the full set on. I didn't realize it would be that time-consuming since acrylic applications in the past have taken closer to 1 hour. Also, she didn't push back the cuticles so I'm going to need a fill really soon.. which is annoying. If I wasn't in a rush I definitely would have asked her to fix that Amy was thorough and meticulous in all other aspects but I'm disappointed that I will need to fill it in and ruin her hard work. But the price was great (15 for full set, 5 for the tips...she originally said 3 but you know how they get you for everything in the end... ;)) If you plan to go here, just be prepared to set aside an entire afternoon. My new fav nail salon! Helen (owner) is so sweet. I just came back from getting a gel manicure($25) and a color change on my feet($5) I took my mom and she loved it! (I've made my sister a fan as well) I've gone to many, many nail salons over the years and this place is by far, the best. You cannot beat the prices!! Helen has a lot of new gel colors that aren't on display so be sure to ask her about them. Also, Lyn does an amazing pedicure for only $15! I'm so impressed. i had a great time here. It is right next to angels nails, across the street from Helix High School. If any of you are familiar with Angel's nails the owner of Divas nails use to work there, her name is Helen. The woman who does the pedicures is amazing. She spends a lot of time massaging your feet and is not at all chatty. She has a very sweet demeanor to her. Helen did my nails and she did a good job. you get what you pay for and if you are looking for a simple cheap pedicure and acrylic nails this is your place to go. I went to Diva Nails for the first time today and it was amazing. Helen the owner of the shop is a total sweetheart and she made me feel like a princess. The previous nail salon I went to did a horrible job on my french nails. They were so thick and wide and just not pretty at all. Helen just looked at them and told me shes gonna fix it. Helen is honest and friendly. I have OCD about my hands and nails; she's the only that does a good job, I always leave happy. There's a parking lot in the back. If you're looking for a basic and reasonably priced manicure/pedicure or even a gel manicure I recommend Helen. I did not like this place and wil not go back. Helen's sister not only messed up my nails after giving me a manicure but she hurt me that my cuticles were bleeding. I didn't want to pay because I was in pain that they actually made me cry, and when I told them I was not paying they wanted to call the police. Came here on a Saturday afternoon to treat myself to a new set of gel nails. I searched around the La Mesa area and came by this little shop on the corner. As soon as I walked in Helen greeted me and asked me to sit while she finished another lady's nails. Had a fun convo with Helen and the other costumers while I waited. As soon as I sat down Helen made a point to learn my name and asked me for my input on my nail design every step of the way. I AM NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN. I went to this place once before and it was great, however the second time was not. I recently went for my birthday and was expecting my gel nails to last at least a month like they did last time. But they didn't even last a week and I had chips on my nails from after the first day or two. Now I have to redo it myself because I dont want to waste my time going there and asking Helen to redo it. Did I mention it takes her/her assistant 3 HOURS to do a gel mani/regular pedi? Just got back a moment ago. It had been quite a while since I'd had a pedicure--probably over a year. On a whim, I decided to call and they told me to come on down. Went here for an appointment with my sister to get our nails done for her wedding. First they opened late and didn't make our appointment on time. Second they took very long to even do our nails with only one person working. Lastly I got two cuts on my fingers. Overall not the best service but it is cheap for SD. Super sweet owner and her super sweet sister (who does not speak English very well but does an AWESOME job on pedicures :) Also, and this is kind of gross, but I have never had somebody get so much dead skin off of my feet when removing my calluses. Took my wife here to have her nails done, manicure, pedicure and have eye lash extensions by Van. She was very professional and has a lot of experience. Her nails looked incredible as well as her feet. The eyelashes looked real not fake. As a man I would recommend this salon and I think Van did a really great job. Helen, the owner of Diva Nails, has been doing my nails for years. She used to work at another shop down the street, and when she left, many of her customers followed her. If you want the best pedicure in town, Helen is the one you want to see. She is very thorough and does a great job! She speaks English very well so if you have questions or concerns, she knows how to assist you. She doesn't try to upsell you on extras, but if you want a flower or design on your nails, her talent is amazing! She hand-paints the most lovely, tiny designs on your nails - and they last 4 weeks easily. I love Helen - and would follow her anywhere to get my nails done. She's great!
