An ex once told me that his mother considered butter a spice, and it seems the chef here shares the same philosophy. We sampled at least two dishes from each section of the menu, and while nothing was offensive to the palette, most were disappointingly bland. Nothing to savor, nothing to remember. An entirely forgettable meal. That said, the service was excellent, the interior was charming, and the cocktails were fantastic. I also appreciated the number and quality of crafted mocktails. My boyfriend brought me here to celebrate my birthday before attending the Nikki Glaser show at Babeville. Immediately when I walked in, I loved the vibes. It was bright, chic, and gorgeous. I loved the orange wallpaper near the wine racks. It enhanced the corner. We were greeted with the host and he hung out jackets up. We were made to feel welcome right away, which was great. Ricki was our server and she was absolutely lovely. She was attentive and personable. Rita, the owner, came over and said hi and she was wonderful. We received a meat platter with olives. The meat included mortadella, capicola, and proscuitto. The meats were great, but what really stood out to me were the olives. I am not an olive girl and those olives were amazing. I could have eaten the entire place out of these olives. We ordered a bottle of wine, which was excellent and I enjoyed my steak, which was from Moriarty, and Phil enjoyed his lasagna, which looks exquisite. We also got a salad with nutritional yeast sprinkled over it. They don't ask you how you want your steak done, but that doesn't matter because it was tender and flavorful. It was served with gravy and capers. Never thought to put capers on my steak, but it works well. They had a dinner with Katie Parla the day before we went to DiTondo's, and they had some specials from that still. That meant I got to order the flour less cake and it did not disappoint. It was wonderful. It wasn't too sweet, it was the perfect sweetness. I loved that cake. This is the perfect date night spot. Check this place out. Amazing food, atmosphere and service! We tried the crudo, tagliatelle pasta, sea bass and 2 specials (heirloom tomatoes and purple cauliflower). A beautiful restaurant with a nice vibe. It was my birthday and I took my three children, 2 teenagers and a 22-year-old for dinner. I wanted to expose them to a different type of Italian restaurant than what they were used to. We had scouted the menu prior to going because I knew it was going to be a little difficult to find dishes for all three of them. I ordered 3 appetizers for the table: the Parmesan puffs, which the waitress suggested we add one because there were four of us. They were nothing special, and my daughter ate half of hers, and I took one bite out of one of them. I just didn't enjoy them. We also ordered the grilled octopus. The photo that I saw somewhere, showed an entire grilled tentacle. We ended up getting a very fishy sliced octopus plate with the octopus buried under some slightly wilted micro greens. You couldn't even see it, and we didn't eat all of it as it was just too fishy and it was warm. It wasn't hot. They have a charcuterie board that I believe is $38. It is not in-house meats. Three different kinds of meat. A prosciutto, a salami and mortadella. Good, but not good enough to warrant a $38 charge. There was a small ramekin of the housemaid Giardina, which came with it, along with a ramekin of buffalo milk mozzarella. I think it came with focaccia bread. I know I ordered a separate focaccia bread so we could all have it. Again, my kids didn't even finish it. I would say at this point everything was disappointing, and the portions were very small. The only thing my daughter could find on the menu for her entree, was the smoked spaghetti, which is an appetizer. It is a little teeny tea cup filled with smoke pasta. it was good, but ridiculously small. My one son had the braised pork shoulder, which was outstanding, but all you get is a plate of shredded pork with three grapes. My other son had the steak, which was little quarter size pieces of rare beef on a plate with nothing else. These were $28 and $30 entrées that were not justifiable. No vegetable, not even one little potato on there. I had a Bronzino for $32 and it was half a fillet and it was delicious and had some razor thin sliced yellow zucchini on top. It was cooked perfectly, but that's all you got for $32. I happened to order a side of the Fennel with Parmesan and breadcrumbs. It was an OK dish. The biggest winner were the desserts. The tiramisu which was $12, a Panna cotta which was $9, and my son had a chocolate pudding with toasted almonds, which I believe was $10. They were all outstanding. I had one cup of Americano coffee that was $7 and since they brought the coffee out first, [before the desserts] that by the time the desserts came, my coffee was cold, so I asked for more coffee and they said they charge $7 a cup. I said no thank you. I had a glass of rosé wine that was flat at best and it cost $13 I wish them much success. However, I have no reason to go back there as I felt everything was over priced. The portions small, and other than the entrées, lacking flavor. The service was good, but a 20% gratuity automatically added to your bill, is too much. I spent $343 for three entrées , 4 appetizers, three desserts; a glass of wine, a bottle of sparkling water, and a cup of coffee. And we all walked away hungry. Oh well. read more

Honestly one of the best Italian dinners I've had ever. We're visiting from out of town and were recommended this place from a local. We had the beets, gnudi, and spaghetti to start. All super light and fresh tasting. The spaghetti was unlike any I've had before, and the pancetta really stuck out in the best way. Next we had the spezzantino - basically a pork stew that was also really surprisingly light and super memorable. Finished with the tiramisu - wonderful. In true Buffalo fashion, the spaghetti dish sold out in 20mins after opening, which means almost every person who came in when it opened ordered it - (try something new Buffalonians). Everything was made that day and with fresh high end ingredients and you could taste it. The braised pork shoulder was the winner for me, but everything was excellent. Dinner service will be coming soon as the build their team, but they nailed the food and the space so far. I went back with my husband and we had a completely different experience on a busy Friday night. The service was slow and the inside was a bit cramped. I tried ordering the same things as the last time my colleague and I were there and neither were available I got a chicken and pasta dish and it was fine but my husband was not thrilled his dinner. Went there for my wife's birthday, she was pregnant at the time and she also has a severe nut allergy. Both the nut allergy and the fact that she was pregnant were noted in the reservation. We were greeted very kindly by the hostess/manager, and she made it clear that the staff was aware of my wife's allergy. Menus were brought over by the server, we ordered items believed to be safe. Out comes an octopus dish with aioli, and romesco. TWO components on the plate that my wife could not consume (nuts and raw eggs) we informed the server, she apologized and took the plate away while we ate what was left of our white asparagus salad. the server brought menus back over and went over some items my wife should stay away from. My wife then ordered the lasagna bolognese. Server comes back to the table moments later and says "Im sorry the meat for the bolognese is seared in peanut oil" Now our guard is all the way up. We asked about other options and were led to believe that the chef wouldn't make any accommodations for her. She said they'd get us when a table was available. I excused myself to the restroom and when I exited saw at least one cleaned empty table. You have an opportunity while waiting to ask questions about the menu choices and specials, place your order, get a number, sit wherever you like(in or outside under a canopy). He had soup which was also very good but is served at room temp (for flavor) so if you want your soup hot ask for it that way. I had tagliatelle with trumpet mushrooms and marscapone. BLOWN AWAY by the flavors!! Best caponata I have ever, EVER tasted!!! Fresh flavors and herbs and a good portion to share. No bread is served with it, so you must BUY the focaccia, which was very tasty, but the caponata needs some crusty, toothy bread. Had the octopus special for dinner and it was also amazing!!! This chef is masterful!! Tiramisu for dessert, again, I'll say the best I've ever eaten!!! The only reasons it's 4 stars and not 5.... 1. Lack of bread. BREAD. I needed bread for the amazing flavors I left on my plate and had nothing to swipe them up with. 2. Wine prices. OUCH. $14 for a pretty small pour. Cheapest bottles around $50. A cocktail and two glasses of wine because they're such a small pour brought the dinner to be too expensive. (Food prices were fair!) 3. Cappuccino was served room temp at best. They made me a new one but what bothered me was when I told the server it wasn't hot, he "argued" with me and said cappuccino is supposed to be served cool! After I raised my eyebrows, he said, "Well, room temperature." Ummmm, no. The new hot one was very tasty, though. 4. Automatic 20% tip is added to provide their servers with a "fair wage". That should be the job of the restaurant. Although I typically tip 20% or more, I tip 15-18% for service that is only "okay". I would have tipped 18% here. It especially irks me to tip that on the wine!! Also, the wine service was so slow that I was half done with my main course by the time it was delivered. So much for pairing. Most places I have been serve it w tagliatelle and a peppercorn sauce. My mistake for not reading the description completely. I was also disappointed with the sauces on the pasta. The mushrooms were not done well. Kind of rubbery. It was really bland. I am all for authentic Italian having been there numerous times.
