My friend has only been to Mosaic 1 other time before this visit, and I felt it was extremely necessary to have her try District Dumplings. Their decor is cute and cozy with just a few tables to enjoy your dumplings, they offer a variety of steamed or fried dumplings with a some specialty flavored ones! We decided to get the 10 pcs dumplings with -pork and chinese celery (had to get the classic, ofcourse) -beef and curry dumpling -bulgogi beef dumpling We forgot to say we wanted them steamed so ended up receiving them pan fried. No worries though because they were still 100% delicious. The bulgogi and the curry dumplings came out with different colored dots on them (to differentiate). The beef curry was my personal favorite but the bulgogi was my friend's favorite. It worked out in the end because we each got to have 1 extra of our favorite (5 dumplings each). We spent about $15 for the 10 dumplings, which in my opinion is not too bad a deal. Plus the staff is friendly; I cant wait to go back ! Writing this review right now, is making my mouth water..........

These dumplings really hit the soul! I tried the lemongrass chicken, edamame and Peking duck dumplings. You can't go wrong with any of them but these three are my favorites! This restaurant has a real family restaurant vibe tucked into all the chains in mosaic. I love how clean it is and you can see the kitchen where they have all of the fresh ingredients. Highly recommend to anyone who's looking for quality dumplings.

Light filling & light dough = delish dumplings. Also got the wonton noodle soup and pork buns - enjoyed both. Not fancy, counter service - perfect after day of strawberry picking - quick, yummy hearty food.

This place is the size of a small deli rather than a restaurant. I would probably call ahead if you have a big party since there isn't too much seating. That being said the food was good and the service was decent. I ordered soup dumplings and shu mai. Both were good and I would come again.

BLUF: Clean, bright location. Light on the ambiance. Service was polite, patient, helpful. A little pricey for what you get, but if you're not starving, it will hit the spot for a light snack. Fairly quick in & out As far as dumplings go, not bad. They seemed to be made in-house & not purchased frozen which is a good thing. Yet, the flavor combinations can be hit or miss. We didn't feel there was great consistency. You may choose between fried or steamed dumplings. The steamed dumpings appeared quite a bit larger but not as tasty as the fried ones that really shrunk after being fried. When compared to most places in NoVA where I've had dumplings, these tasted pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way for these, but if in the area & a taste for dumplings, I'd go. Did they leave a mouthwatering memory? No, but they satisfied my hunger.

Soup Lemongrass Chicken Dumpling, soup dumplings, wonton soup, beef dumplings

We got the soup dumplings, beef dumplings, chicken and lemongrass dumplings, and the wonton soup. The soup dumplings were very good, with a good amount of soup in them. The beef and chicken dumplings were nice. I especially liked the flavor of the lemongrass dumplings. But, my favorite dish ... shockingly ... was the wonton soup. It was so good! The wontons were delicate and the shrimp inside was perfectly cooked (not rubbery). The broth was light (not goopy- which I really don't like). I'll definitely go back for the soup dumplings and the wonton soup

Pork & shrimp dumplings and Hong Kong shumai

I've had my eye on District Dumplings for some time and got to stop in today. Since it was just me eating lunch, I went with the standard order of pork & shrimp dumplings (10pc) and the Hong Kong shumai (8pc). My wife grabbed a drink and didn't realize for just that the total was just over $32 (admittedly that's on me for not giving the prices a better review.) The dumplings came out after a little bit and looked pretty good. I tried the shumai first. They're pretty dense and well filled. I felt like they were fairly middle-of-the-road shumai. I couldn't quite make out the shrimp in them. I think they benefitted from the included sweet soy because they had a basic flavor, not bad, but not complex. The pork and shrimp dumplings were just ok. I took a bit to see the filling and again, couldn't really see the shrimp in there. I would have easily taken them for pork & chive dumplings. The dumplings skins were tender, though the very edges on a few seemed kind of dried out/more firm. I used a little black vinegar, again, giving a little more complexity of flavor. Overall their food was fine, but personally I think the price point and quality don't totally align with each other. I could see them being less expensive or upping the quality of their items.

I tried the soup dumplings, which arrived promptly but didn't leave a lasting impression. The service was efficient but didn't stand out. The restaurant interior is neat and minimalist. It's a convenient spot for a quick grab-and-go choice, especially when shopping at Mosaic. While there are other varieties of dumplings available here, considering the abundance of nearby options, I'm not sure if I'll return.

Pork bun, and Soup Dumplings

The dumplings here were so yummy. I really liked the pork buns. The soup dumplings had pork and ginger inside and I would definitely recommend them. It was a small restaurant with plenty of space. The staff was very helpful with deciding what to order as well!

Hong Kong Shumai

This is located in Mosaic District. There will be very limited storefront side parking but multiple parking garages (free) to choose from which will require you to walk a bit. There is a wide variety of dumplings and Shumai. There aren't other entrees so do not expect other Asian dishes. The pricing is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. You can choose 3 flavors for a 10piece dumpling for $13. I personally do not like this because 3 flavors for 10 pieces is a little off to me. I also do not like that it's not separated or labels so we know which one we are eating (especially if we are sharing). The good overall was good, but not great. I've had much better dumplings are other dumpling spots! Steamed Pork Buns were nice and fluffy but not that much pork. Their drinks are delicious. The mango soy milk and their lime/ginger/celery/(forgetting one of the ingredients) was VERY good. Highly recommend to try one of these or both. Service - you order at the counter and they will bring it out to your table. You leave your dishes and they will pick out up.

Soup dumplings and an order of pan fried dumplings.

Wanted a quick snack after a few hours of shopping so came here right before they closed. It was pretty empty so it was quick to order. Got the soup dumplings which were good and then got a variety of pan fried dumplings. (3 flavors per order). 2 out of the 3 were good, I don't recall what the one we ordered that I didn't like but the chicken lemon grass and beef bulgogi were delicious! I love that they have chili oil on every table. One thing I think they can elevate is the presentation. Otherwise, a very casual place, perfect for a quick and delicious lunch, dinner or snack.

Soooo good! I get all the hype behind them and will absolutely be back. Amazing flavours and perfectly made

The SKIN IS THIN and sooo silky. Some of the best dumplings I've had. The pan fried flavors: beef curry, pork and celery were the standout flavors. The soup dumplings were excellent as well, larger than other places. And definitely taste better than Din Tai Fung. Yes, I said it, better than DTF. There was only one person working the whole store but there was no one else dining in. Alot of pickup orders. Theres only dumplings on the menu so go wild picking your filling flavors.

Consistently great food, staff are kind. Absolutely worth the drive and dealing with the chaos that is Mosaic.

The staff was friendly front to back, hostess, waitress, bar tender- friendly and knew the menu and had solid recommendations and knowledge of the menu. The food was great, we had rangoons for an appetizer, followed by their famous General Tso's and the Mongolian Combination, all delicious! Highly recommend this place if you're in the area! However things went downhill pretty quickly. I ordered one of their specialty cocktails, which is more expensive than most of their meals, which was just ok. The drink was pretty strong which I didn't mind but most of it was just ice and the gummy was a little stale. Overall it looked cool but didn't really justify the price. The service is really where I felt let down. The 2 friends that I came with got their food in a normal timespan but it took 20-30 minutes for me to get my food. When I asked about it (because clearly they forgot) they lied and said their kitchen was backed up and the order is being prepared. The restaurant was half empty at that point so it was a little hard to believe. Also another waiter came out 10 minutes later and said my food just started to get cooked and will be out soon. Both my friends were pretty much done with their meals by the time I got mine and I didn't get anything from the staff aside from an insincere apology and a bad excuse. For the price we paid I expected much better service and for the staff to go above and beyond when they make a mistake, which didn't happen. The food was good when it eventually did come out though so I I'll give it an extra star for that.

We ordered their popular spicy noodles with ground pork, pork and chive dumplings, chicken soup dumplings, and cucumber salad. Everything was a solid 10/10! The flavors were fantastic, the food came out quickly, and the service was great throughout most of our visit. My only disappointment came toward the end of the evening. About 20 minutes before closing, our waiter approached us and told us they were closed. While I completely understand wanting to wrap things up at the end of a shift, the restaurant wasn't officially closed yet, and there were other tables still dining that didn't appear to receive the same message. It felt a little abrupt, and I think the situation could have been handled more tactfully. That said, the food was excellent, and I would absolutely return. Just a small service detail that took away from an otherwise wonderful dining experience!

The portions are incredibly generous, and every dish we tried was delicious. The drunken noodles were packed with flavor, the fried rice was perfectly cooked, the Tso's chicken was excellent, and the steamed fish was fresh and beautifully prepared. The highlight of the meal was the spectacular tableside Flambé dessert--it was both delicious and a fun experience. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The owners were also warm and welcoming, adding to the wonderful dining experience. But what we did get was pretty darn good (if a bit pricey)! The style is much more authentic, so if you're looking for something like Hunan Cafe (Greenbriar), or that NOVA institution China King, this is different. Is it better? For the most part, yes. (But I still crave that Americanized sweet, spicy, glazey brown sauce that comes in slight variations in so many dishes). I had the hot and sour soup, Szechuan spicy fried eggplant sticks, Taiwanese rice noodles with fried tofu, and the Chengdu twice cooked pork. Everything was excellent, except....the hot and sour soup. Honestly, Hunan Cafe and China King beat the pants off this place's hot and sour soup. Here, it was a bit too sweet. It had some red chilies in it, but I could not detect much white pepper. And it's a vegetarian version, so no small bits of chicken or pork. I'd skip this the next time I order from here. But the other dishes... amazing! The noodles were light-tasting but still delicious. The eggplant was garnished with cilantro, garlic, salt, and red chili sauce. The twice cooked pork was sauteed with sliced leeks and the same red chili sauce. I think that's the fresh, zingy, spice flavor profile I like that can't be found at Americanized Chinese restaurants. Sure, China King has its place and I'll still go back there when I'm close (RIP China King Fair Lakes and Herndon). And admittedly, I go to that awful Panda chain occasionally because I never learn. The unfortunate thing is, I'll more likely go to these places than Cheng's because of the price. The pork dish was $21 and the noodle dish was $19. My total bill came to $60 before tax and tip. If I need to stuff my face with a Chinese umami bomb fast, I'm probably going to the other places for $15-30. I do want to try the rest of the menu at Cheng's, but it's going to be a drawn-out process for the sake of my wallet. I'd be remiss if I didn't include a comment from my dining partner. She compared the quality and taste of the food at Cheng's to Peter Chang's (either Peter Chang's-Herndon, or Mama Chang Fairfax). A high compliment. But she said the value is better at those places' AYCE options than what we got at Cheng's, and I agree. If you've been to none of these places, you have to try them all at least once.
