Sarah disgusts me as a person. We just mourned the loss of our beautiful little baby girl Penny today. You and your disgusting puppy mill sicken me. Our baby was only three years old and she had so many complications from her incompetent breeder. She could not breath and had to be indoors her entire life, could never run or be a puppy. She had to have bi weekly injections her skin was so bad. She eye complications when she was little and in the end suffered a major back issues. We first knew something was wrong suddenly lost the ability to use her back legs. Prompting a visit to the ER. This was the third time she had been to the ER. At the ER they used a breathing tube to try an resuscitate her. She had lost control of her breathing completely and overheated, leading to massive seizures. She died that night as there was no chance of saving her. We spent more than $10,000 in medical bills trying to help Penny breath, see, and not itch constantly. We loved her so greatly and took cared of her as best we could given the horrible breeder. As for when penny had her first issue when we had her for just 30 days. We requested a refund for the money we had payed for the dog, she refused and offered a new puppy. Automatic red flag. We still believe she would have immediately euthanized the puppy. This lady is a disgusting human and should rot in hell. I personally hate you and think that you and your disgusting operation should be seized by the FBI and PETA for how horrible you are to your animals. To anyone thinking of this lady for their dog, stay well clear. This lady doesn't care about you, your kids, or her animals. She is a horrible person. The second you have an issue she just offers you a new dog, a classic sign of a puppy mill breeder. Give them a new dog so they can keep the money and kill the current "problem". Lastly I want to make it clear, I completely understand that everything has a cycle and that life will come to an end. Buyer beware. I never write reviews because I understand that we are dealing with peoples livelihoods and impacting their income. With that being said, I have to share my experience to help save others from a large financial loss. In December of 2021, I was so excited to learn about Sarah and her Distinctive French Bulldog service. It was important for me to find a responsible breeder that I could trust and had experience that aligned with best practices. I thought I found that in Sarah as she came recommended from a French Bulldog owner. I was very mistaken and I wish I had spent a bit more time going through these reviews to get a better idea of her practices. First contact: When I first contacted her, she seemed very knowledgeable and spent time on the phone answering my questions and telling me how much she loves her "frog dogs". She informed me that she had several litters due between January and February 2022 (back to back). She told me that reserving a spot for the first, second, third and fourth pic was very important as her puppies go fast. I quickly gave her a $500 deposit that same day to be one of the 4 first picks for an upcoming litter. She told me some dates when puppies would be due and that she would reach out to offer us puppy picks before posting online. The litters: (1st litter) Time had passed beyond the due date for the 1st litter and I had not heard from her so I decided to reach out. I was informed that all the puppies died in that litter. That was terribly sad to hear and I was told to wait for the other litters. (2nd litter) All the puppies died and the mama died too. Again, heartbroken for her and her puppies. Trying to be understanding I decided to continue waiting. After all, I'm sure those things were out of her control and it must have been so heartbreaking and stressful. (3rd litter) Only one puppy survived. A male puppy (I had specifically asked for a male puppy since our 1st conversation in December 2021). Fast-forward to February 2022 and she publicly offered the newborn puppy to someone on social media that was not on the paid wait list. I didn't even get the opportunity to reserve the puppy as it was never offered or brought to my attention until after she had already given it to some random person. I learned about the puppy through social media rather than hearing about it from her as agreed upon. Conclusion: 3 months later, $500 was taken from me and services were NOT rendered. Once my money was in her hands, she was not easy to communicate with. Her excuse was that she was always traveling or something. Her text messages were all over the place and she seemed very unorganized. Since she did not respond to my e-mails, I would text. When I texted her for photos and information about the Sires and Mommies for her litters (her website was never updated with information about the dogs) I never received any information. It was like trying to navigate in the dark and feeling completely helpless like I was being taken for a ride. Per the pandemic and other life challenges, $500 is not a small chunk of change. People work hard for every penny they make and no one should have to go through this type of experience. If she was genuinely concerned for her business, its reputation and retaining clients/customers, she would have offered a refund at month 3. I believe I was more than patient and understand. This was a very disappointing experience and incredibly frustrating. Think twice before giving this breeder your money. Best of luck. read more

My wife and I tried to purchase a French bulldog puppy from Sarah. In our search for the right pup, Sarah was responsive and enthusiastic; this, coupled with the good reviews about DFB, gave us the confidence that we were making the right choice. We decided on a pup and sent our deposit. However, after we put in our $1500 deposit, things took a turn. In the days leading up to our date to pick up the dog, we wanted to be prepared for when we welcomed the puppy into our home. I sent Sarah a text inquiring about proper dog food and was meant with a very bizarre response that did not seem coherent nor even in the ballpark of what I had asked. Right then I got a bad feeling so I called Sarah. She was somewhat combative that I was asking about the kind of food I should have on hand for the dog, and again, I thought this was strange. Eventually, she said that our meet and greet with the dog would include food. I don't know why she couldn't say this via text message. After this conversation, something about this felt off. Still, I gave her the benefit of the doubt - after all, most reviews were positive, and I decided let's just pick up the puppy and we'll go our separate ways. We hadn't heard from Sarah, and now it was the day before our scheduled pick-up date. I sent her a text to confirm our pick-up time. Sarah told us that the dog needed another week to be weaned off of her mother. At this point, I really had doubts that we would ever see the puppy. I would be correct. Another week passed, and no word from Sarah. I sent her a text on the weekend before our rescheduled pick-up. She said she had been busy, but everything was good to go. The day before our scheduled pick-up, she sent us a distressing text saying that the puppy had died that morning. The news of the puppy's passing gutted us. It was upsetting, disappointing, and emotionally exhausting trying to navigate this. I sent her a text informing her that while I understood that they do not offer refunds on deposits since it was a unique and tragic situation out of our control, we thought it would be reasonable to request our deposit be refunded. She told me that she would need to talk with her partner, but absolutely agreed with me. This would turn out to be lip service. The last text we had from Sarah was to inform us that her partner essentially refused to refund his half of the deposit but that Sarah would send her half. This seemed wildly unreasonable, given the circumstances. We felt this was completely on DBF. However, we agreed and asked her to send us half of the deposit. Despite following up with texts and calls, we never heard from Sarah again and never saw any type of attempt to return a portion of our deposit. I understand that DBF has things in place to protect them and their business, but I felt this was completely on them, and expected them to handle this professionally. I question their ethics not only as business owners but as breeders - the saddest thing is that a puppy died under their watch. My wife and I would not recommend DBF. read more

I know this is a long review - so for those who don't have time to read the whole thing here is the bottom line: I had a great experience with Distinctive French Bulldogs and highly recommend them! I spent months trying to sort through the dozens and dozens of SD area French Bulldog breeders for one who met my requirements. I wanted a someone who was experienced, local, really cared for the dogs and socialized the pups in a home environment. The breed is popular, and there are many businesses who represent themselves as breeders, but are actually brokers selling puppies as commodities. But that wasn't what I wanted. I found Distinctive French Bulldogs listed on the AKC Marketplace, and decided to check them out. I contacted the owner Sarah and found her to be sincere. She never once delivered a sales pitch; on the contrary she emphasized several times not to rush into investing in a puppy unless the time was right for me. She does not "discount" her dogs and I'm more than ok with it because these aren't shoes she is providing; they are living creatures and bringing one into your home should not be undertaken lightly. She was totally upfront about her practices and policies, so I decided to move forward and met with her. Not only where her puppies gorgeous, but she obviously cares a great deal for the breed and all of her dogs. It only took a few minutes for me to know I'd found the right breeder. I picked up my puppy a few weeks later and have been delighted with him. Sarah has made herself available at a moments notice for any questions or concerns I've had. A day or so my pup came home I had "new mom" jitters and worried about he was adjusting. I texted Sarah and she walked me through steps to help him settle in, and at one point even offering to drive an hour to bring one of his litter mates over for a visit! (As it turns out my pup adjusted fine) I want to emphasize at this point the sale was complete, and yet she was still willing to drop everything to make sure both me and my pup were taken care of. I think this shows a lot about how dedicated she is to the wellbeing of her puppies and customers. I took my puppy to Vet for his initial full exam and was told he was nice and healthy. Sarah (Distinctive French Bulldogs) is the ultimate scammer! She will tell you anything to sell you a puppy. From the beginning, I specifically said I wanted a puppy with AKC papers. When a puppy became available that we were interested in, I asked if it would come with AKC papers. Sarah said "yes", so we proceeded to purchase the puppy. When we arrived at the park (she won't let you in her home - red flag) she told us the papers were delayed due to COVID. Mistakenly, I trusted Sarah. I checked in every month for a status update. She promised the papers were coming. After 6 months Sarah said we're not getting papers because the sire of our puppy (Moso) is an import. Sarah knew from the beginning that we would never get papers on our puppy. I asked for a partial refund as we were very clear what we wanted and she did not follow through on her end. Sarah offered for us to return the puppy that we've now had for 6 months and she would trade us for an AKC puppy (yeah right). I declined and asked again for a partial refund. Sarah's exact words were "sorry, my hands are tied". In addition to not getting the AKC papers that were promised, our puppy also came sick with giardia. Sarah specifically told me that our puppy had a "clean fecal test" and that we wouldn't need to test her again. I tested her the next day at our veterinarian and it was positive for giardia. She knew this but didn't want to be held responsible. Instead, she let us take home a puppy with a parasite that could infect our young children and other pets. Also, her two year health guarantee is a joke! The only way she gives you the guarantee (not like it matters, she'll never follow through with it) is that you have to subscribe to her pyramid scheme and continue to buy a specific dog food and vitamins through her personal link. Our vet had us immediately transition our puppy to a different food because the one sent home with us was for large breed dogs and too high in protein. Also, if your dog eats quality food, they don't need vitamins. Just another way for Sarah to scam you out of more money. We have two other frenchies from another breeder that is fabulous and honest. We still keep in touch years later. We were hoping for the same experience with Distinctive French bulldogs but this was nothing short of a scam. Sarah has changed her contact number so many times that you can't even reach her. Clearly and unfortunately I'm not the only was she has scammed. What a disappointment, we purchased a puppy from Sarah in 2020. The dog arrived sick with girardia. Took multiple treatments to cure and lots of money. The puppy barked 24 hours a day. I have had multiple dogs over the years and have never seen anything like this. After a few months we gave up and contacted her to take the dog back. She later contacted us and said she never has dogs that bark and could tell he was well loved and cared for. She also said she would work with the dog and re home him and return the money she received. All of this is via phone and text and can support our claims. DO NOT under any circumstances give her a deposit to hold a puppy unless you are 100% sure you will buy the puppy! Sarah WILL NOT refund your deposit if you change your mind, which I believe is illegal.....she told me to give her a $200 deposit to hold a puppy my son was interested in as there supposedly were others looking at him, and that the deposit was refundable. She told my son he HAD to give a $200 deposit just to get an appt to see the puppy and when he was running late he called her out of courtesy to tell her and she said NO, he had to reschedule. My son had an appointment with another breeder that was close to Sarah the same afternoon and he ended up getting a puppy from that breeder. When he called Sarah to get his $200 deposit back she refused telling him it was non-refundable!!! Can she do that? Is it illegal? She seemed nice to talk to when we first called but then her other side came out...... I question her breeding practices as it appears she's in it just for the money.....BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH A BREEDER WHO IS NOT WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU. Also, clarify everything she tells you as such as her 2 yr guarantee on her puppies. She promises a full refund if your puppy gets sick but turns out it's only if your puppy dies. Then, she will not give a full refund but offer a discount on a new puppy to replace the one that dies. She personally told me she did that for 2 puppies. BEWARE OF SARAH AND HER PRACTICES AND POLICIES!!!!! Better yet, there are more honest and better breeders out there, you might bypass her and check them out.... read more

After a long search of breeders in CA, my boyfriend and I knew Sarah from Dfbulldogs was the best choice for us. From the moment I inquired on the AKC website, Sarah called me letting me know all about the pups she currently had. She had sent me pictures and videos prior to meeting them and then finally when the day came she let my boyfriend and I have a choice between a brindle or cream male. We ended up choosing the brindle boy and we couldn't imagine our life without him. Pierre is extremely healthy and I couldn't be happier with Sarah's attentiveness anytime I text her with questions. Upon adopting Pierre, Sarah supplied us with tons of information, resources, and care package full of toys, food, vitamins, and his favorite horse hoof that 5 months later he is still chewing. Sarah is the breeder and she is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about her pups. As soon as we met her, we felt confident and comfortable about working with her. We had been looking for a highly reputable breeder and were so fortunate that Sarah had some pups available when we contacted her. Our guy was 5 weeks when we first met him. Sarah then kept him a little longer than usual (to 12 weeks) so that we could finish up some planned travel. In the meantime, we got weekly photos of him to track his progress -- such a nice touch!
