We just met with Merle and our new puppy. She's 7 weeks old and beautiful. She was freshly bathed and just the cutest little girl. Merle answered all of our questions and we stayed until our little girl was ready to nap. We can't wait to pick her up in a few weeks.

We couldn't be happier with our experience with Castle Creek Cavaliers. Merle is caring and knowledgeable and her puppies are healthy and happy. Our boy Walter is settled in and happier than ever and Merle is always there if we have any questions or need coaching. She is an AKC breeder of merit (less than 10 in the USA for cavaliers) and is the most knowledgeable person about the breed that I have ever met. If you are looking to have a perfect pet this is the place.

A long time KCC lover, I (my husband and I) looked into three breeders in San Diego before speaking, meeting with Merle at Castle Creek Cavaliers in Vista. I appreciated the thoroughness and advice she provided me a first-time puppy purchaser, to advise what to look for in breeder in whether her, or another one. It's evident she really cares about her dogs. They are on a good routine and takes visitors around the time they eat and nap, putting them first. To a purchaser, it may seem that she is very involved or has lots of suggestions, but the truth is, she got us ready to immerse a dog into our home and family. Her tips were from a good place, to make our routine similar to what he (Palmer) was used to. He slept through the night on the 2nd night from then on, ever since, and she lets us know about night one, he may be a bit scared in a new place. He's beautiful and healthy, our vet was so impressed! Her dogs are groomed at home, she has cleaners to add care at their home and cleanliness, they eat well, enjoy goats milk, and love. The owner/ breeder She has a big heart, and understands Cavs are good for people in need. There is an option to have your puppy be a dog certified to visit assisted living care and elderly people in homes who do not have visitors. We are going to enroll Palmer in it because it's good for the dog and we feel good about helping lonely older people in our area too. She makes sure your lifestyle fits well for what the breed needs, being home, etc. If we had questions or concerns, wanted tips, she was happy to make suggestions that did work, from his sleep to bathrooms to routines. As long as he is alive, she is available as a resource - a very caring, knowledgable, breeder. We could not be happier with Palmer and the transition she has made going forward comes from a place of love - and as a buyer, if you can remember this, it will help you too. Having one of her KCC is so rewarding. Thank you, Castel Creek.

I now have two little girls from Merle, and I couldn't be happier. I got my first girl, Molly from Merle in 2014, and my second, Sophie, just this week. They are both gorgeous, well adjusted girls and are the loves of my life. Sophie is actually Molly's daughter, which makes it even more special. When I picked Molly, I was told that due to her outstanding pedigree that she would need to be a participant in a breeding program. I need to breed Molly twice, with an option to buy a puppy (I did), and then I get a huge discount on Molly. I was a nervous wreck when it came time to breed Molly. Merle was very understanding and talked me through everything. We probably spent several hours on the phone over the course of the breeding/pregnancy. Once Molly had her babies, Merle kept me updated on the progress of both Molly and her babies. I even went out to visit several times. Merle was always welcoming, and I really appreciated her understanding my need to spend some time with Molly. One of the more interesting experiences with having to breed Molly was seeing everything a good breeder has to go through to make sure the parents are healthy! I was taking Molly everywhere! Cardiologists and Ophthalmologists, as well as specialists for her hips and patella. It was a lot of work, but now, not only do I know for sure that Molly is the healthiest pup anywhere....I am confident her babies are super healthy too. With both Molly and Sophie, Merle has been a wealth of knowledge. She is always open for phone calls and questions. She will talk you through everything! She loves these pups, and you can tell she just wants the best for them and their new family. I am so happy I chose Castle Creek Cavaliers to get my pups from. They are happy, healthy, and loved from the moment they are born, to when they get to go home to their new furever families. Thanks Merle!

I couldn't be happier with our two new Cavaliers Zebel (Our boy a Tri-Color) and Ziba (Our girl-A Blenheim). After loosing my Shih-Tzu Poof of 12 years I was heartbroken and depressed, my dad knowing I always adored Cavaliers decided to take me and my brother down to Vista just to "play with some puppies" and get our spirits up. Little did we know that after that one visit we'd meet and fall in love with the sweetest brother and sister puppies and bring them home the following week. The past 9 months have passed by so quickly, and all of us always talk about how it seems like we've had Zeb and Ziba forever. They bring so much joy, laughs, and love to our lives every day. Whether it be how they chase each other around the house, how they snuggle next to my mom (their favorite person) as soon as she sits down, or how they always aim to please, these two became family members faster than I could have ever imagined. After loosing Poof I thought I could never warm up to other dogs the same way, but Zebel and Ziba are classic examples of how the unconditional love of a dogs is truly a gift that can not only change your life forever but teach you how capable of loving you really are. "Whoever said diamonds are a girls best friend....never owned a dog" Additionally not only have our two been perfect personality wise, but in terms of their coat, facial features, and structure they are beautiful examples of the breed. Whenever we take them out for their walks, or when we go to the dog park we get compliments on their expressive eyes, their funny personalities, their soft shiny gorgeous coat, and their beautiful feathering that is just barely starting to come through. We love our dogs to pieces and as I sit typing this review with both of them curled up on the couch beside me I couldn't be happier that my dad took us down to Castle Creek that one sad morning that ended the melancholy chapter I was stuck in and helped me begin a new one. Thanks for everything Merle! :)

I purchased Tito ( originally named manny) from merle back in 2014. I have no complaints as to the purchasing process or Tito himself. A clean bill of health so far. Well behaved and such a cute face!

Fantastic Breeder! I normally do not write reviews, but in the case of Castle Creek Cavaliers I am going to make an exception. I purchased the most incredible puppy from Merle and CCC 7 months ago and the experience was first rate. My puppy Puddin is not only the most beautiful dog, but extremely healthy. The vet says that he has not seen a more healthy pup. Along with the puppy I received knowledge about the breed and how to care for her. Being this was my first purchase, the folks at CCC not only provided knowledge up front, but offer a continuing education program for pet owners. I am not the easiest of clients. In fact I am extremely picky and hard to please and CCC not only met my expectations, but exceeded them by miles. Trust me, if you need a life long four legged friend and a breeder to stand by her product, Merle and CCC are the only breeders you will need to see.

I just bought Hannah from Castle Creek Cavaliers from Merle. I just want to say how happy I am with the whole experience . Merle really cares so much about the breed and has so much experience with helping you begin an exciting journey with your new dog. Hannah is everything and more of what we expected !!! My husband and I couldn't be happier. I think she has the most beautiful Cavaliers hands down. She has followed up with me several times to make sure Hannah is doing well and gives the best advice. I would recommend her to anyone. Thanks again

Our experience with Castle Creek Cavaliers has been incredible. We got a puppy from Merle one year ago this month. She has been so helpful and informative throughout this entire process. Merle had continued to answer all of our questions to this day. She truly cares about all of her puppies and wants to make sure they are all happy and healthy their entire lives. We are SO happy with our sweet and beautiful puppy. Couldn't have asked for more!

Vail Ranch Goldens - Awesome update for a family who purchased a puppy from us

    Vail Ranch Goldens

I purchased our golden from( Brenda now her fb says Rachel so who knows what she goes by now) about…read morethree years ago. I put up with ALOT of excuses with her shortly after I had paid her half (over $2k) for our puppy. I ended up having to contact her after time had passed and I hadn't heard about our puppy that was supposed to be born 6 months prior. I got nothing but excuses from her but gave her benefit of the doubt. She tried to sell us a puppy from a litter that was born 4 months prior due to not selling them. I kindly declined as I had put a deposit down for a red one. Months go by and I'm told that she miraculously had a red litter and they were already 3 weeks at this point. During the time of waiting I started seeing things online about her selling puppies that had parvo and other things. All which she denied. I played nice with her for the time being just so I didn't loose my money that I put down and get my golden I had waited a year for. After we finally picked him up he was terrified of her and immediately came to us cowering and would not come to her. I said nothing and thought maybe he just wanted to go home and was a quiet puppy. About a week later we dropped him off overnight for "daycare" that already paid for her and arranged prior to picking him up. The next morning I picked him up and he just looked defeated and noticed something was off. The people she had "working" for her looked like druggies and every time he was next to our puppy he would be terrified. I left shortly after and noticed on my way home the top of his head had a lump. I texted her and asked his he had gotten hit it hit himself and she immediately denied. I took him to the vet two days later and the lump was massive. I ended up having to pay over 1k to have the lump taken care of. Which included meds , a cone and him having a tube through his head to drain for two weeks. When I explained that the vet said it was trauma to his head she came up with the excuse of him hitting his head on the dog training ladder (yet before knew nothing about it) She denied helping with medical bills even though it transpired in her care. Fast forward to about a year later I found out that the father of our golden came from someone else in Washington who had never done breeding with her before. Mind you which was never told to us. I had to reach out to that person only to find out that ALL of his puppies where from the litter that miraculously showed up that's she told me she had already. His dog had zero testing and zero form of akc etc. when I asked Brenda about it she denied of course and said she had a breeding partnership with him. knowing I wasn't going to get a straight answer from her I dropped it. Now starting this year in January he out of the nowhere had a seizure and lost consciousness where I had to administer cpr to get him breathing again. I reached out to her and let her know, thinking she would care but instead I was told nope none of her puppies have ever had seizures that she knew of and that she moved out of the country and couldn't help... I took him to the vet and ran a bunch of tests to find out everything was normal. Now on Thursday he had another seizure... I then, of course, messaged her again to let her know, and instead of showing any form of compassion, asking how he was doing or us I was then told again that she moved out of the country is grieving the loss of her son(which she lost her son over 4 years ago) and is dealing with a lot and can't help me blah blah blah blah blah blah For her to turn around and block me... I reached out on multiple Facebook groups throughout the area, asking if anyone had issues with their puppies only to find out that everybody has had nothing but issues with her, and it has been going on for years that she has been breeding. A old employee of hers contacted me and informed me that she does still own this business And is looking to soon open up her own Maine coon breeding business. I highly advise everyone to stay clear of this woman and whatever business she does. She's extremely manipulative and there is several lawsuits open against her, which explains why she left the country. I pray that nobody else has to go through what we have and are currently dealing with, and I hope that others get justice for what she has done throughout the years.

We purchased our boy, Beans, in December of 2023 and picked him up New Years Day of 2024. Every…read moreaspect of getting him was a 10/10. When I left Brenda a voicemail first reaching out about a pup, she called back within 30 minutes and we chatted for a while. We ended up face timing and meeting the pups virtually. I knew from there that we were going to buy a puppy from her and we set a date to come by a week later. We went to her house to pick from two litters. Brenda was in the middle of a very hectic move but we only had 2 days we could come pick him out before we were out of town for the holidays for 2.5 weeks. She was so accommodating and let us come over late on a Wednesday night to pick out our puppy. We had 2 litters to chose from as two of her female dogs got pregnant when she wasn't expecting it. We got to play with each available pup one on one and take our time with them. She had each litter in their own themed room with music playing. It was like a puppy hotel and so adorable. We probably overstayed our welcome because we were seriously stuck between two dogs and couldn't decide who we wanted. We left telling her that we needed a day to decide and we'd get back to her but it took about 10 minutes in the car for us to decide and from there everything was smooth sailing. We were out of town in Northern California for the holidays for about 3 weeks. She even kept our puppy a week longer without charging us so we could pick him up on New Years Day. She would send us pictures and videos of him so we could see how adorable he was and he was living the life at Brenda's house until we were able to come pick him up. When we went to pick up Beans, we sat with Brenda for about 2 hours. She has a pretty extensive orientation but its nothing too crazy. She really cares about her pups and wants to set them and YOU up for success bringing them home. She gave us a packet with a ton of information from feeding details, what to expect for the first few days, training commands, etc. She also gives you a puppy shopping list that you need to get prior to bringing your dog home (food type, training treats, heartbeat puppy, etc). She really makes it as easy as possible for you and your new baby to adjust to your new life together. When we picked up Beans, she showed us some of the tricks her dog Sonic can do. Sonic is one of the most well trained dogs I've met. It was pretty incredible. We had already signed Beans up for the Basic Board and Stay camp where Beans would go back to Brenda for 2 weeks and then home for 2 weeks 3 times. However, Beans is so smart he completed most of the course in the first week and we were able to get him early. He is been the best addition to our family. We absolutely love him to pieces. He's such a good, healthy, and cuddly boy. We're amazed at how bright he is and we couldn't have been this happy if it weren't for Brenda and her training.

I have to admit, I was incredibly skeptical of buying a dog online .. food and useless consumer goods from amazon, no problem but a live animal left me feeling a bit weird... But Lauren made us feel safe and she's so kind, she immediately put our minds at ease. We must have sounded like complete basket cases and asked her a million ridiculous questions. She answered everything with professionalism and experience, and by the end of our 1000 question deposition, we felt like we had known her for years lol To be quite honest the process was so easy and we are beyond happy to have our new furry family member.. we're actually thinking of getting a sister to pair with our new baby pup. Anyways I hope this helps.. if you're on the fence, pull the trigger, you won't be disappointed. Lauren is honest and very fair and her pups are even more amazing in person. Thanks again Lauren

She demanded a $500 deposit before even seeing the puppy and she wanted us to fill out an application with our personal information on it. I told her my concerns with respect to fraud and giving money up front when I don't have proof that the dog even exists. She told me she will provide references and I can look on a decade's worth of social media for proof. But we all know about cat-fishing and now AI. So, I asked if I could complete a background search on her first but she wouldn't even do that - she wanted a mutual exchange. I'm sorry but I'm not the one asking for money up front and if she really has nothing to hide then this wouldn't be that difficult. Highly suspicious.
