With the pandemic, it was impossible to go look at dogs at shelters and any time I saw a hypoallergenic dog on line, it was no longer available for adoption. So I came back to my trusted Yelp to see what my other options are. Carlsbad Cotons had great reviews and photos of the happy families with their new pups. I contacted Tweed, who was very kind and informative about the breed. He truly cares about his puppies/dogs and treats them like family. He asked me lot of questions as well, along with sending me literature on the personality and care of the breed. This was all before our pup was even conceived. Talking with him gave me some peace and something to look forward to. I told him that I prefer a male and that the coloring didn't matter. Several months later, I got an email from Tweed. In the email he introduced us to Ajax who was a tri-colored male. I instantly responded to let him know we want him. Tweed sent me an email to give a list of foods, vitamins, treats, etc. that the pup would need. He gave us the release date/time appointment. When we picked him up, Tweed had an envelope of documentation of his injections and report from the veterinarian. Ajax was 3.5 lbs and very nervous when we picked him up as it was his first time away from what he was used to. He did vomit on the way to our house as he was car sick. We named him Gio! It took him few hours to get comfortable in the house. By day two, he was running up and down the stairs. By day three, it was clear that this is his house! He is so sweet, playful and loving! He's got a good temperament, very smart, great appetite and is very easy to train. Total personality who loves to talk! A week after we got Gio, my mom got sick and I brought her to my house. Gio was so loving and sweet with her and didn't want to leave her sight. Mom passed away within the week. Gio gave her love and comfort during her last days. I am so thankful to Tweed for our Gio (Ajax). My boy is changing colors with every haircut but I don't care about that as long as he's healthy and happy!

I told her my concerns with respect to fraud and giving money up front when I don't have proof that the dog even exists. She told me she will provide references and I can look on a decade's worth of social media for proof. But we all know about cat-fishing and now AI. So, I asked if I could complete a background search on her first but she wouldn't even do that - she wanted a mutual exchange. I'm sorry but I'm not the one asking for money up front and if she really has nothing to hide then this wouldn't be that difficult. She was very aggressive about it and said that if she was fraudulent she would have an accent. Idk what this is but before you waste your time and heart you should be aware of this. She was delivered with no testing for important diseases or genetic traits. She was not given a proper veterinary examination. I found out who the original vet was (Ashley would not disclose) and called. They indicated Ashley's animals are always like this (she also breeds dogs). Ashley has complaints against her with Humboldt County Animal Control for unethical breeding practices and in our opinion deserves them. Ashley's business associate / flight nanny flies standby and had our 8 week old kitten in transit for over 15 hours. We ended up having to buy him a confirmed ticket so that he didn't take her to a different city and spend another night in a hotel against her. We knew none of this at the outset. Ashley was entirely disinterested throughout the transport process. She also transferred the kittens to the flight nanny in a parking lot, which is not legal in the state of California and is dangerous to the kittens. To top it off, her prices are off-market and she uses aggressive tactics to over-inflate the rarity of what she has to offer. Please don't make the same mistake we did. I have attached screenshots of my July 2017 Facebook conversation with Linda from the business account. On the day we picked him up, I messaged her to let her know when we would arrive to pick up Snapdragon, and the account responded with Diamond Oaks Ranch's contact information. A few days later, she contacted me asking, "how is the pup," requested pictures of him, and described him as "a very sweet pup." I am disappointed that rather than acknowledging our experience, the response has been to deny that we purchased our dog from them at all. I am posting the contemporaneous messages so prospective buyers can see the documentation and draw their own conclusions.
