I finally gave in and although I wouldn't have considered myself a cat person several weeks ago. I am officially now a Ragdoll person. Like other reviewers, we will probably end up getting another one from Cindy. My mind is blown by how much love and joy has been created in our home by our kitten from Cindy. We've all slowed down to share in the delight of our very affectionate, playful little guy. I have a deep appreciation for what Cindy does. She literally breeds love, joy, and happiness for families. We all spend more time together laughing, snuggling, and watching Smeagol play with his toys. We've had people over for holiday gatherings including loud kids and Smeagol is incredibly tolerant. He follows the kids around and wants to be in the mix. He is not the kind of kitten who hides in the corner. He wants to be with people, wants to be held and pet and loved on all the time. Several of our friends are already planning to get Ragdolls from Cindy after meeting Smeagol. We live locally in Encinitas and Cindy was very easy to communicate and coordinate with. She even let us come pick him up on Thanksgiving Day. She gave us ample time to get to know the kittens then made a suggestion about which one might be best for our family based on their temperaments. She had given him the name Smeagol and we thought we might change it but after a few days of trying on other names we realized she had nailed it. He's a Smeagol. My precious! Smeagol came litter box trained. Cindy also gave us a little food and litter plus clear direction on how to be sure he had a smooth transition home. He came home with a collar that has a little bell. It appears that they have dedicated foster parents who help transition these pups from shelter life to permanent placement in their forever homes. They were very honest with us about the dog we were adopting struggles with timidness and fear. They sent someone to do a home visit and we had to do an initial foster to adopt agreement for 2 weeks. If all worked out fine for both Shelby and our family then we were cleared to adopt. Which we did last Thursday. Shelby has had all her initial shots, was spayed and treated for fleas when we adopted her. All we needed to do was provide the love. Done. I would highly recommend Wagging Dog Rescue to anyone who is considering adopting a new member of their family.

The application process was thorough -- which I appreciated -- but not unreasonably so. The adoption fee was more than fair considering that our pup was neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and had flea treatment on board -- we would have paid more to do all that ourselves, not to mention the hassle. Our pup was also housetrained and partly crate-trained, which was huge. He's a 5mo puppy, so accidents of all kinds can and do happen, but we can tell that Rovers Return gave him a great onramp from the rough life he'd had before to his new forever home. David, the foster parent we worked with, was extremely generous with his time and his knowledge, and had clearly put in the time with our pup. We've stayed in touch, to let him know how our boy is doing, and to check on the status of his littermates. If we were in a position to adopt another pup right now, we'd have taken one in a heartbeat. This is a good outfit, doing good work, and doing it well. Highly recommended.

I wanted to share my recent experience with this Maltese rescue. I adopted a Maltese from the LA…read moreshelter and realized he wasn't the right fit for my home. He wasn't fully house trained, had some digestive issues, and my resident dog was very stressed. With an upcoming move and job search, I knew I couldn't give him the stability he needed, so I reached out to rescues. Tami, initially responded quickly and asked for photos. Once I sent them, though, the tone shifted -- she began questioning why I was giving him up and seemed to judge me for not being able to make it work. When I explained my situation, she stopped responding altogether. I left that exchange feeling really discouraged. I've always supported rescues and even fostered myself these past few months, but this interaction turned me off from rescuing in the future. I know not all rescues are like this, but it was a reminder that communication and compassion really matter when someone is reaching out for help. I'm sharing this in case anyone else has gone through something similar -- and to say, if you get a cold or judgmental response from one rescue, don't give up. There are rescues that will support both you and the dog with kindness. Thankfully, another reputable rescue met us with grace and has offered help. I only wish the Maltese rescue had chosen not to reach out after we filled out their long surrender application, instead of leaving us feeling judged and unsupported.

Judy was very thorough in her interview and making sure that Maisie was a good fit for our family. We had a senior dog at that time and 2 elementary school aged children. Judy told me that Maisie loved her foster family and especially bonded with children so she was specifically looking to pair her with school aged children. Maisie needed socialization and had anxiety at the time of adoption. We work and continue to work with her to help her confidence. This rescue definitely takes their time finding the perfect family for their rescues.

I contacted Lost Pet Tracker nearly 2 weeks after my BabyGirl went missing. She is an 8 pound…read moreYorkie/Terrier mix. We recently adopted her in December from a rescue. She has always been scared of people. Very fear aggressive. It took days before she was comfortable with me and weeks before she was comfortable with my husband. She runs FAST so the chance that someone would catch her was slim. The only hope we had would be that she would remember me and come to me... should I get the opportunity to see her. She ran out the front door from my mom's house while I was out of town. It seemed that she went to look for me so I took an early flight back and decided to take my maternity leave early just so I could spend every day looking for her. She went missing 01/17/17 and I happen to be due with my first child 02/18/17. Time was ticking. I'm a very organized person, so I was already doing a lot of the recommend steps to find my BabyGirl: I made, hung and passed out flyers, offered a high reward, posted on various social media sites, alerted local Vets, searched local shelters, reported her missing with the microchip company and Animal Control. I was keeping a timeline of her sightings and mapping her route. I paid to have an ad in the local newspaper. I paid to have a lost dog "amber alert" phone call sent out to 1250 local residents. Family, friends, neighbors and strangers were now on the hunt for her. I was receiving sightings, but I was always one step behind her. By the time I would get to her location, she had already moved on. Often her sightings described her as "running away". She was not familiar at all with my mom's neighborhood, so there were no familiar locations for her to find refuge. There was no chance that she would happen to "find her way home". At 8 months pregnant I knew the amount of time and energy I could spend looking for BabyGirl was becoming less. Plus, her most recent sighting described her as looking injured, which increased my worry and desperation. I was willing to pay and do anything to find her. I found Lost Pet Tracker online through the Missing Pet Partnership. I contacted other companies also listed on the website and felt pushed aside. I was told I wasn't trying everything, that I should try trapping her... which I had been. I felt dismissed, just another lost case. And then Sarah at Lost Pet Tracker called me... Right away I could tell Sarah cared just as much about finding BabyGirl as me. The main difference was that she had the knowledge, experience and tools to help improve my search. She was sweet, not pushy, not a sales person. I genuinely felt connected to her and was confident that even with miles between us that she could help guide me. She rushed to have Judy and Mellie come to Northern California to help me. [They are based in Southern California] I contacted them on Sunday and Judy and Mellie were out on Tuesday. The search dog, Mellie, was an interesting experience. To be honest, Mellie didn't help too much with the search. And I don't mean to undermine her work. I believe with some cases of lost dogs I am sure she helps immensely. However in our case, BabyGirl would find a location, people would sight her, approach her and she would run away. Thus, starting our search from the beginning. I'm sure this makes "following her scent" a difficult task. Especially considering we had been having weeks of some of the worst rains in the past year. Judy [the dog handler] worked for nearly 10 hours that day, not only with working Mellie, but also helping me to create and hang large signs at the major intersections in the area. Those signs were what eventually helped to bring our BabyGirl home. Out of all of their suggestions this was the big "Ah-Ha" moment. That... and their suggestion to have us tell our search party to not approach BabyGirl, but to leave food, make her feel safe and keep an eye on her until I could reach her. Finally, on day 18, I received a call from an employee at a local business. She heard about our large sign from a coworker, drove down the street to take a photo of it and called me. At this point she was watching BabyGirl head toward the main road. I happened to be in the area hanging more large signs. As soon as I saw BabyGirl I got down on the ground and opened a can of food. As I was saying her name I could tell she remembered me. She sniffed the food, got closer and sniffed my hand. She eventually let me pick her up and hold her. She was whining with happiness. She was uninjured, dirty, but healthy. The stars had aligned!!! If it were not for those large signs and the suggestions from Sarah and Judy with Lost Pet Tracker, we may still be looking for our BabyGirl. I cannot THANK them enough for all of their love, support and help. They were crucial members of my "team". I recommend them highly. Each lost animal situation is different, but they greatly helped to BRING MY BABYGIRL HOME. THANK YOU!!!!
