They say that Angels walk among us here on Earth. Making miracles happen every day of our lives…read more I found those Angels in Phil and Annette of Animal Friends of the Valleys. I was so impressed with the passion they expressed in caring for the souls of their shelter that I found myself adopting a female German Shepherd called Nix, now renamed Cali. Cali has been a miracle in and of itself. Thanks Phil, Annette and their trainer Glenn for such a smooth transition in getting Cali all the way over to Florida and thank you for making miracles come true here on Earth. Much love and respect from an Orange County Deputy!

The volunteer staff at check-in were nice but very uninformed, we did not know where to go or how the process worked and had to wait until the nice lady working the accessory store saw us and helped us out. As far as meet and greets go, it was a little tough finding someone who could help, though it was simply due to the fact that everyone was busy and running around. After a couple visits to the shelter we were finally ready to make an adoption, however the lady at the desk was very rude and unhelpful. We felt as if we were inconveniencing her with wanted to adopt a dog. We came back another day and were helped by much nicer people and the process went great! Overall this place is amazing and I can't thank them enough for what they do as well as helping us find our new family member :)

My wife and I adopted an elderly Norwegian Forest Cat named "Gothika" from the Menifee Valley…read moreHumane Society, and we couldn't be happier. I've attached a few pictures of this magnificent lady in all her glory. Don't mind the leaves...we brush her daily. : ) Gothika is a funny, feisty, and adorable cat. As for the name "Gothika," one might assume I buy my clothes at Hot Topic and write bad dark-poetry on LiveJournal; unfortunately, I'm not the angst-ridden teenager responsible for such a hilariously named feline. Jokes aside, Gothika is one of the kindest creatures on Earth. Cat-introductions out of the way, Nina (who runs the MVHS) is a hardworking and remarkable individual who takes impeccable care of her charges. It's a bit of a sad story, but Nina rescued Gothika from a high-kill shelter and made it possible for us to enjoy Gothika's golden years. I would highly encourage you to consider an elderly cat rather than a rambunctious kitten if you're going to adopt. Elderly cats have a lot of love to give, and they're genuinely kind, affectionate, and intelligent (often underappreciated) companions. That being said, Menifee Valley Humane Society should be your first choice to find your next pet. Nina will help you every step of the way. And if for any reason you're not ready to adopt, please consider donating to the MVHS so they can continue their work helping animals in need. Thank you again Nina, and the MVHS!

I wanted to visit a foster home to see 2 cats, and made an appointment. I did call the foster home…read morebefore my appointment and I told them that I had to cancel, and the reason why. A few days later I recalled to reschedule and was told I was no longer considered as an applicant and they have moved on to other applicantions. It has been over 3 weeks and the 2 cats that I wanted to see are still up for adoption. I don't consider that fair to those cats or myself. Their explanation to me was that "I cancelled an appointment". Really?

The Sphynx kitten we purchased from Ashley was 50% underweight and had corneal ulcers, skin rashes,…read morean upper respiratory infection, and a distended belly. She was delivered with no testing for important diseases or genetic traits. She was not given a proper veterinary examination. I found out who the original vet was (Ashley would not disclose) and called. They indicated Ashley's animals are always like this (she also breeds dogs). Ashley has complaints against her with Humboldt County Animal Control for unethical breeding practices and in our opinion deserves them. Ashley's business associate / flight nanny flies standby and had our 8 week old kitten in transit for over 15 hours. We ended up having to buy him a confirmed ticket so that he didn't take her to a different city and spend another night in a hotel against her. We knew none of this at the outset. Ashley was entirely disinterested throughout the transport process. She also transferred the kittens to the flight nanny in a parking lot, which is not legal in the state of California and is dangerous to the kittens. To top it off, her prices are off-market and she uses aggressive tactics to over-inflate the rarity of what she has to offer. Please don't make the same mistake we did. Happy to chat if you have questions.

My husband & I adopted our Pomeranian from Cherie in March 2019 after a family friend adopted a…read morepuppy from her and we could not be happier with our little boy. He is everything we were looking for in a puppy: healthy, smart, sweet, playful, loving, and very happy. I am giving Cherie 4/5 stars due to the following: 1. She was not been the best communicator before we purchased our fur baby. Her website says that the best way to contact her is via text, but before securing our puppy, she would take a long time to answer our questions or simply not answer our text messages in the amount of time she said she would. Once our puppy was selected and paid for, Cherie answered all our questions and sent us pictures whenever we requested them. 2. We paid $1K and our puppy was projected to be 4-5lbs max, but he is already 6lbs at 4 months. My husband & I do not care about his size too much, so this did not bother us as much and we are not looking for a partial refund, but I could see why this would upset customers who were expecting a very small dog. We asked Cherie how much he weighed when we picked him up and she said "about 1lb." we weighed him when we got home and he was actually 2.4lbs at 8 weeks, so we knew he was not going to be 5lbs max. Obviously, there's always a risk when purchasing a living creature because there is no way to know %100 everything about their health, personality, etc. With that said, I do believe good business practices are important and I am sorry to read that others are not happy with their situations. Cherie probably needs to outline her policies in black/white regarding health guarantees and refund policies. I would still recommend her to friends/family because 90% of our experience has been amazing.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars!…read more I have been patient in looking to add a kitten/cat to our family and stumbled across Marigold on a fosters Instagram page which prompted me to submit an application. Kat reached out the very next day after reviewing our application and pre approved us. Yelena reached out for all coordination afterwards. Marigold was not even posted on the rescues page but they were so kind and were able to get us in to meet her. The foster mom (and dad) were wonderful and have been doing this for so long (60+ kitties). We instantly fell in love with Marigold and were able to be selected to adopt her (pat on our back for being able to provide a good home). She came from a hoarder home and was lucky to survive from malnutrition. We came back to get her after getting she completed her shots/spayed. Not even 24 hours in, my one year old tabby loves her and she is settling in perfectly. I will say I have had not so great experiences with other rescues in the area and Dirty Little Paws surpassed all expectations! I hope one day I can repay them and foster another baby in need.
