My boyfriend and I bought our English Bulldog from Todd last year, we love our little guy so much. The only concerns I had about the purchase was that he charged top dollar for him. I think we walked away that day spending a little over $5.5k. When we arrived that day he mentioned to us that there was kennel cough going around all the dogs. He made it seem that the puppies in the upper area did not catch the cough, but gave us antibiotics to take home as a precaution. Not too long after we brought our baby home we noticed his cough got really bad. Todd did check up with us every day to see how he was doing and also mailed us more antibiotics for him. But they didn't seem to work. I also noticed that his ears kept filling up with gunk and wax and he wouldn't stop itching himself. I ended up taking him to the vet probably a week or two after to find out that he still had kennel cough along with really bad ear mites that he had from when we bought him. On the second visit they wanted to me also bring in a stool sample as well and we found out he had giardia. You could only imagine how I was feeling after all of these vet visits. After a few more vet visits and $800 later he was in great shape. Besides this headache is has been the BEST little guy and we love him very much. Also a side note, I was kind of hesitant about getting him when I found out that it was going to cost us another $1k if we wanted his documents. Along with that we noticed that he whines and sucks on his soft toys sometimes to comfort himself. We read up on it and saw that it could be caused form separation anxiety and being taken away from the mother too early. I will never go anywhere else to buy a bulldog pup. First and foremost, Todd is a no bull-crap kind of guy and I always appreciate that. Second of all, this is the cleanest facility with a ton of room for his puppies to run and play. It was the most organized breeder I have ever come across. Just wanted to give my personal experience with Todd at big bulldogs. We got our boy Gus from him a year and a half ago and we couldnt be happier with our little guy. He is super healthy and an absolute blast! Todd had mentioned when we got him that we can always call or text him with any questions or concerns as this is the first puppy we have owned. Todd has been true to his word and always been there to answer any questions weve had. Today I had a question about his ear as he has been itching it at times and Todd invited me to his house and showed me how to deep clean his ears for free, I didnt expect him to do that at all but it shows that he goes above and beyond. Over the course of three years a client of mine added two practically perfect french bulldogs that were from BIG BULLDOGS to his home and family. They stole my heart and have not had one health issue nor do they have aggressive tendencies now 6 and 2 years old. I think that people who put down a dog for developing aggressive behavior traits three years into raising them are selfish and need to look at their own issues and behaviors to figure out the source. We got the love of our life (English Bulldog) from Todd last June, and I have to say Todd was wonderful throughout the entire process: from the moment I emailed him with an inquiry, to the whole year where I bugged him consistently prior to us getting our pup, he was incredibly patient, knowledgable and helpful. My boyfriend and I were first time bulldog owners when we went to Todd, and did plenty of homework (for 25 years) before getting him, so no matter how well prepared we thought we were, nothing prepared us from our puppy aspirating his food the third day into us having him home. I thought it was a cold, but I recorded his noises and sent them to Todd - Todd was quick to overnight us medication for our pup AND went above and beyond by arranging our pup to receive breathing treatments with him for a week. We got him back 7 days later in perfect condition. In those seven days Todd sent us video updates, text messages, and answered each and every one of our calls while we were worried. Definitely would NOT buy from them again. I should have known that they were a puppy farm when I saw so many dogs on their webpage. He is importing them from Hungary and doesn't send you the papers for a few months - when it's too late to object because you love your dog! We had to put ours down (following our vet's recommendation and using a professional dog trainer) because he was snapping at me and chasing our daughter around the yard to the point where I couldn't let them be outside together. I bought my English bulldog from Todd two and a half years ago on the day we lost our old man greyhound to a brain tumor. I was ready-eyed and probably looked like a mess but Todd not only helped me find the dog for our family but he told me all about her parents. I got to meet her dad who was on site at the time. My bulldog had his same personality which is very loving and playful! My children and I had researched breeders for two years knowing that someday we would get an English bulldog and we were picky that the breeder be one that knew their stuff. 4.5 stars! First off, let me start off by saying I'm a simple and humble pet owner that definitely put the work in to finding an authentic bulldog breeder. My boyfriend and I put in a good few months in researching local breeders in California, and we definitely ran into our fair share of scams, fake breeders, "We have UNIQUE colored bulldogs, just send over a $500 deposit before we start your paperwork!" My bf and I are cautious people by nature, so our bullshit detectors were pretty refined by the time we found the BigBulldogs.com website. We were still apprehensive when we sent out the email, expressing interest for two of their puppies on their site. I still was overly cautious when I called the number on the website to follow up my email. The only time I started letting my guard down was when Todd returned my call the following day and he did a rapid fire interview over the phone, asking me where I lived and what I did for a living, while sharing a funny story about how Denise Richards gave him a $1000 tip when she bought two Bulldogs from him a few months back, waving it off saying, "Oh, don't worry, it's Charlie's money!" We ended up visiting their location the day after, fell in love with one of their Frenchies, took a day to think about it, and then ended up picking her up Sunday evening. Although Todd is a little rough around the edges in the beginning (I'm sure he encounters as many bullshit customers as we did breeders), he did us a huge favor by accommodating our work schedule and letting us pick up our new puppy at 10pm on a Sunday night (way after their closing hours!). Once we finally met in person, he was pretty darn charming and you could tell he really has a passion for these dogs. I was sincerely blown away at our first visit there; his assistant Eddie was super informative and answered all of our questions enthusiastically, but without the salesman pressure. Great transaction. Had my baby Sophie for 2 1/2 years until she developed a back problem. Only "cure" was a $10k surgery or steroid treatments. Both would require WEEKS of strict kenneling. I purchased Lola from Todd back in 2008. Ever since then Todd has been helpful in providing essential information on how to better take care of my English Bulldog. Our beloved Rosie died 2 weeks ago. She was just 5 years old. At 3 years, noticing one eye protuding more than the other, we discovered she had a brain tumor on the optic nerve and had been blind in that eye for sometime, because when it was surgically removed, there was no impact at all on her daily life. Angels of Mercy Cancer Hospital in Culver City are wonderful and Rosie had 20 radiation treatments over a period of 10 weeks. We were told that if the treatment was sucessful we could expect another 15 months. Almost 15 months to the day our Beautiful Rosie began bumping into everything and losing all confidence. Dumbly I thought she might have a cataract so back to City of Angels we went, only to discover that the tumor had progressed to the optic nerve on the other eye and that now she was completely blind. She underwent 3 days of intensive radiation which required an MRI and multiple catscans ( the exact treatment that humans receive today for this ailment). We all hoped for 20-30 months more, bringing her closer to a 'normal age span' for this breed. However a few weeks later she had a massive seizure and we did the humane thing. Its probably not necessary to say here how utterly devastated we all are but she suffered so much in her short life. She developed kidney stones around 2 years old, had surgery for that, followed by a special diet. One eye was removed at 3 and then she leaves us at 5. She was beautiful, a picture of health, no breathing issues, lean and muscular, such a treasured member of our family, I'm trying to make sense of comments made here about BigBulldogs.com which is where we went to choose my sons 26th birthday gift, something he had spent many hours researching before deciding that an English Bulldog would be the perfect pet for him at that stage in his life and career. This breed is wonderful and Rosie was our 8th dog and the absolute best pet. If there is so much interbreeding and unethical behaviour going on I will not be giving another English Bulldog the perfect home. Sadly. Are there reputable breeders out there? Does anyone else who purchased their best friend from this breeder have similar stories to tell or is this an anomally? Please share if you have something to say. read more

We Love Our Bulldogs! Our family is tough. Football, baseball, trail races, we love sports. With three boys, 10 and under, you can just imagine the special kind of pet we would need to not go crazy or get hurt running around with this crew. We spent months thinking about the logistics, the investment and what kind of pet would suit us best. After lots of research we found Todd Howard and his Big Bulldogs. Mr. Howard was very friendly and honest. He listened to us and helped us pick the right boy to add to our crew. We chose a 6 month old fawn colored, male bulldog. Since he was our first, we had lots of questions. Mr. Howard was always just a text away and helped with potty training to health care, referring a wonderful vet. After having our male for 6 months, we contacted Mr. Howard again and drove up to pick out a lovely little girl to add to our crew. She is just the sweetest bulldog ever! Now I finally have a little girl who fits right in. Big Bulldogs is a well maintained, ranch style, kennel. I enjoyed the easy going and clean environment Mr. Howard maintains. He allowed us to view all the of bulldogs, puppies to adults. Then we would select which ones we wanted to visit with and Mr. Howard would let us play with this dog in a safe, fenced in, large grass area. He explained the importance of hand sanitizing and other health care tips between playing with each dog. I already owned a beautiful little frenchie and wanted to get her a baby sister - they are such great companion dogs and have such sweet dispositions. I found out about Todd and BigBulldogs from Xfinity repairman whose brother had just purchased a frenchie from him. He could not say better things about how ethical they were. Plus, for us, San Diego is just a little over an hour flight from us so the puppy would not be in the air for hours. Terrible breeder. I inherited a dog from a family member who got the dog from this breeder. He has terrible skin issues and constant ear infections. When I called this breeder to seek advice, he just kept referring me to a vet. When I asked why he would not advise me as he has been breeding bulldogs and must have some idea, he just kept recommending me to a vet. Do NOT get bulldogs from this breeder. First i can't give a minus 5 rating. I purchased a French Bulldog for $2500 in 2006. He was beautiful piebald male and perfect addition to our family. After a couple of months we were registering him we discovered he was shipped over from Russia and was not able to be AKC registered. Less then 2 years after we brang him into our life he left us. He was diagnosed with a genetic spine condition. He became paralyzed and 2 days later he passed. Called Todd to explain his condition and immediately was told it was my fault for not calling him sooner. He, not a vet mind you would have been able to save him. Never did he offer to help with a refund or any assistance more less an apology. We were definitely within our contract however my family was into much grief at the time.
