We began taking our puppy to Dogs Abound in April after a Zoom consultation with Courtney. I was a little taken aback by Courtney who seemed a big standoff-ish during the chat but decided to give the place a shot... after all, I cared more about finding trainers who treated my puppy well more than treating me well. After the first visit, employee Matt said he wasn't sure if they could board our puppy until they knew he would do well with other dogs (totally understandable) but when I mentioned I wanted to do training sessions, he and Courtney got nice quickly and signed me up for everything! I really wanted my 4-month-old puppy to get out of his shell, gain confidence and make friends so I ended up paying for a 10-pack of training sessions. I also read the Yelp reviews here so decided it would work. The training sessions included a Zoom chat with the trainer, Vivien, after four classes. When it was time for our first Zoom chat, the trainer wasn't able to connect to a computer so she called me, which was understandable (happens to all of us, right?) I asked her if she could send me videos (since we didn't get a Zoom chat) of the lessons she was teaching my puppy so I could reinforce it at home and she agreed. A few days past and I didn't get anything so I texted her. I immediately received an email from Courtney telling me not to communicate to her trainer directly. Um ok? I told her Vivien told me she would send me videos because we didn't get our Zoom chat and asked how she would address the problem. Vivien ends up sending me a very lengthy email instead. Another four training sessions pass and we get another Zoom session with Vivien, which was actually helpful! I finally learned what my puppy was learning this whole time! After our final two training sessions, we get an email stating they will now charge $3 per day to feed your dog! WHAT? As though spending hundreds of dollars for training and care isn't enough, they want to profit off feeding your dog and charge more than the food itself? I immediately notified Dogs Abound I wouldn't be returning with my pup. After I canceled, my husband told me that one time when he picked up our dog, he heard one of the employees say to a dog "you little sh*t." Yup, you read that right. An employee called a dog "YOU LITTLE SH*T") I'm all about giving people the benefit of the doubt and like I said, I'd rather have them treat my puppy well than me. However, these greedy folks obviously lack any basic customer service skills. The terrible communication and more importantly, how they treat their clients (fur and human), shows they don't care. I'm also thrown off by the Yelp reviews. Maybe the employees have some hidden biases? We just transitioned to Dogtopia and we are SO MUCH HAPPIER at the level of communication, professionalism and honest love they show the dogs --which can be viewed via Webcam. (I once asked Courtney if she could send me a photo of my puppy and she said no). I suppose this is my lesson in giving people the benefit of the doubt! Not everyone deserves it! UPDATE: My husband saw the dog picked up by the owner after the employee called him a "little sh*t," but nice effort by the owner for trying to defend the verbal abuse of dogs. There are not enough words to recommend Liz and her team! We looked at so many different doggy daycares and our fur baby never came out happy, just exhausted and we weren't sure about them and we found Dogs Abound and omg! Our pup gets waaaaay too excited even as we're driving up the street to drop off and he's always eager to get off the car and get to his puppy friends. It's a plus when Missy is there to welcome him! Missy is for sure one of his favorite people at Dogs Abound. UPDATE: 6/29/21 Firstly, we did not "willfully ignore your directions" as you claim. We did everything you requested, except spend additional money at your business. Second, the training he received did not translate outside your facility. That is my main issue and makes the money we spent not worth it. Your response highlights why you are not equipped to deal with behavioral dogs. He was with you for 4 weeks, yet he is a "failure" in your eyes. That speaks volumes about your work. I have zero interest in having a Yelp war with you. I merely wanted other customers to know about our experience (what Yelp is for) and warn others who may have dogs with behavioral issues that this may or may not be the place to take them. Staff was nice and appeared to treat our dog well. My issue is the quality of training our dog received. We took our puppy to Courtney and her team at Dogs Abound because we needed help with his reactivity to people and dogs. Courtney recommend that we do the 4-week board and train, which we did. To say that we are disappointed with the results is an understatement. After the four weeks our dog is no less reactive than when we first brought him in. Dogs Abound did not begin to try to introduce our dog to other dogs until the very end and waited until the last day to try and carry over the training to the outdoors. On the last day, Courtney asked us to spend even more money and board him for an additional two weeks so that she could work with him outdoors. I would have thought they would have been doing that the entire time, especially before the last day. None of his training has transferred into the home environment and we feel that the 3k we spent was a complete waste of money. He is exactly the same as before we brought him to Dogs Abound. To be honest, we feel like we were completely taken advantage of. If you have a dog with reactivity issues DO NOT bring them here. You are better off doing in-home trainings with another trainer or going somewhere else. read more

VERY disappointed with this place. We had originally had a great experience. They were great with our dog and really helped us out of a bind. That was THEN. Now they have made it impossible to use them. We boarded over Thanksgiving and came back to found that they overfed our dog both days. They also overcharged us and had every intention of doing it again this time when we called to work out a plan for this weekend. Even though their website says a night of "boarding includes a full day of daycare" it's only the day you drop him off, even if it were end of day. They also have a half day rate but even that wouldn't have been applied when they close at 3:30p...they wanted to charge a full day of daycare! My dog loves this place and I feel comfortable leaving her here. Molly is a wonderful dog and I love her, but she does not play well with other dogs. Finding a place that will take her during the day as well as board her when I go out of town was a challenge. I was also having trouble walking her and needed help with training. I'm so glad I found this place. Molly and I have finished training and our walks are nicer. She comes home happy and tired after day care, so I know she's had fun. It's always tough leaving your pups in the hands of others, but sometimes that's what you need to do. Super stoked these guys were able to accommodate us when last minute plans meant we couldn't use our local friends to take in our little guy. Parking was ample and it was easy to get to as we left town on the 78. The staff was super nice and the facility was clean. There's separate areas for the big dogs and small too. Our guy came back to us tail wagging and happy as ever. While I was there I met a woman who was dropping off her two dogs for doggy day care. She said she's a new customer too (sounds about right since it's a new facility), but loved the staff and her dogs seemed to feel the same way. Fairly priced, but call ahead because you'll need to be prepared to show your pup has the proper shots and what not and you may need to get that from your vet, because if you're like me, you lost it! Well, there is nothing worse than a business that instead of apologizing for their mistakes, takes to a public forum to attempt to discredit the customer. I know this being a business owner myself. So your statement... "Before I owned my own small business I felt righteous leaving crappy reviews when I had a less than perfect experience" is pretty funny. If I had a customer leave negative feedback, which I have yet to have because I treat my customers to the highest level of service...the last thing I would do is get defensive, insulting, and bending the truth to suit your story (publicly). Which you have not only done to me, but to other clients, which speaks volumes about what you know, and don't know, about dealing with customers. Now, back to my review. First of all, communication is key here... "We tried to gently expose her to other dogs but after multiple attempts, she was completely uninterested and overwhelmed. We can not, and will not, force dogs to interact when they are clearly telling us they are not interested." - I was never told of these intentions, that would have changed my opinion DRASTICALLY, I had not at any point been told that they were going to separate her from other dogs in a pen. That would have been key communication here. I wasn't told until AFTER I ASKED that she was separated. Don't you think a client may want to know that info? And don't you think a client would want to know if their dog was "completely uninterested and overwhelmed"? "I am also certain we told you that we could make an appointment for a tour at another time" Negative. I was told there is an upstairs area, but was not offered another time to see it. "Sorry again, half-truth. You must have only looked at our website. If you took a moment or two to check out either our Facebook or Instagram pages" Sorry, I don't have facebook or instagram. Shocking I know. Maybe you should consider that not everyone has either or both. "I spoke with you at length about the issues you were having and made every attempt to answer your questions and allay your concerns." The reason we spoke "at length" is because you wouldn't let me get a word in. It took a while to get to the point because you were talking over me, totally dismissive of my concerns, and had a very "I know what I am doing here" attitude...similar to your response to my review. "She was extremely anxious, nervous and timid (all words you have used to describe your own dog)" Half truth as you like to say. I said she CAN be SOMEWHAT anxious, nervous, and timid. YOU say she is EXTREMELY anxious, nervous and timid. Given that I told you that I was doing this to HELP with that, common sense and good judgment would have had you let me know if she was THAT anxious. I would have reconsidered day care as an option... Communication! Unfortunately, Liz struggles with it, again, see her rebuttal to my review. I actually gave this business more chances then I normally would and waited a while to leave a review because I didn't want to review out of anger and frustration. As I spoke with other dog owners about my experience they encouraged me to leave a review because the truth is people should know that my experience might be their experience. And nothing is fabricated about it, sorry. Had I been treated by my review with some accountability and sincere concern for my experience, I would have been happy to modify my review. We brought her to you immediately after we got her, at about 9 weeks old, and we are so impressed how well trained and socialized she has become during your 10-pack puppy program!!! Courtney, Robin, Brandon, Matt, Brooke, Liz and the whole team were always polite, professional, straight-forward, courteous and honest about her training from day 1, which we appreciated so much! We were delighted with the impact of her training on a daily basis. We clearly saw how much affection she was treated with and how much she LOVED going to school, to the point where she often tried to sneak back into the studio when we were picking her up :} Robin and Courtney were not only excellent trainers, they gave us exceptional advice on how to carry over her lessons to home and even great additional advice on food, activities, other home issues, etc. They were generous with their time, often staying overtime to make sure all our questions were answered. The special training sessions just for us were extremely helpful as well, we follow this advice at home all the time. We really appreciated the daily "report cards" as well, which our wonderful trainer Robin wrote up, that made us feel like we were there in person at the lessons --- well done! The lessons made us especially comfortable about boarding our puppy for a few days, and once again the experience was top notch. I wanted to write a review about a situation I had after picking up my dog. I had family in town that I hadn't seen in some time and wanted to drop my dog off for two nights for Thanksgiving. They had a holiday rate of $65 per night which I was fine with and I dropped off my dog the day before Thanksgiving. Total charge was $130 for two nights. I ended up needing to leave my dog an additional night and they were happy to do so which I appreciated. It was great until I saw charges of $101 for one night. First off, they didn't tell me that holiday rates were extended through the weekend. Second, I only brought enough dog food for two nights so they ended up using their own dog food. This place charges $5 per meal for a dog which I find to be rather ridiculous. My dog food cost me $40 a month. But what bothered me is the fact that no one told me on the phone about the dog food charges. I asked Liz about her dog food and she said they only use the best(for $5 a meal I'm sure it's true) and insinuated that I probably buy crappy dog food(I don't). I thought that this comment was quite disrespectful. Finally, I was told that pickup times on Friday was either 10am or 4pm which was one of the reasons we wanted our dog to stay another night. I assumed this was the pickup time for Saturday and this is how other facilities I've used have worked. My Wife showed up at 10:30AM and this place charged us $26 for a half day. I called to complain and Liz said that dogs need to be picked up by 9am as instructed in emails that I receive(which I never got). I said that I wasn't very happy about paying $26 for 1.5 hours over and is there anything you can do? She flat out said no, "I'm not changing my standards for you." I felt I was being very professional and calm(until the end) but she was really giving me a lot of attitude. I would not be writing this review if Liz had handled this professionally from her side. All she had to do was either refund my money or offer another half day to actually make up for the hours that I paid for. I have probably spent over $3,000 at this place over the past 8 months and would have spent another $3,000 over the next year. This place just lost my business over $26. It isn't a question of money as it is more of principles. Good paying customers should not be treated this way especially when they are spending human daycare dollars on their dog. read more

We have been bringing our 5 month old chocolate lab puppy, Zeus, to Dogs Abound for the last couple of months. We have been very happy with everything. The facility is very clean and has a lot of space to accommodate large numbers of dogs. Liz and Lu, the two owners, are super helpful and always available to answer questions. Liz is a dog trainer and I really appreciate that they made sure Zeus was playing with dogs that were age and play-style appropriate. We had to go on a 12 day vacation recently and took advantage of the board and train program. For just a little extra cost over the regular boarding rate, we were able to have Liz work with Zeus every day. We were pleased at his progress when we came back. He had picked up on several skills that we had some difficulty teaching him ourselves. Dogs Abound is located right near the Fry's Electronics between the 78 and San Marcos Boulevard. It's super convenient to where we live and it's easy for us to pop Zeus over for a daycare day when work gets crazy. We feel like Zeus is part of their family, and that's important to us when we are away or traveling. We highly recommend Dogs Abound! read more

I'm really, REALLY, picky about Dog Daycare when it comes to Murray. He's a regular at a great place in Los Angeles, where I live, but we found that location after a few "meh" places. I figure that if I'm leaving him somewhere for the day and I don't feel totally comfortable about the place he's at, then there's no point, as I'll just be worrying about him. Things that are really important to me are: attentive and knowledgeable staff, a reasonable dog-per-staff ratio, and cleanliness (some places are GROSS). I wound up being in the North County area on a fairly frequent basis for work, and would have to leave LA hours before our dog daycare opened. Thus, I needed a place for Murray to go in the North County area. I met Liz through dog sports, and knew that she was really dog savvy so I decided to try out her place. Wow! First off, the staff is *very* knowledgable. Liz is a Certified trainer, and she understands different kinds of dogs. This is great as she and Lu, the other owner, can separate dogs not just by size, but by temperament, and can also read their body language. This makes me feel comfortable, knowing that they can control the environment to avoid altercations between dogs (a wagging tail does not always mean that a dog is happy, after all!) They are also very honest. I like my regular daycare because they will be upfront about what Murray is doing all day. They say he likes to be "in the pack" but isn't the one engaging in rough play. Some daycares said "oh yeah, he's the life of the party" only to find pictures of him sitting under play structures or in the corner. When Liz said that he was comfortable, but doing his usual, I knew that she was painting an accurate picture and not forcing the "story that someone wants to hear" on me. And the place is clean. Always a good sign when they are willing to give you a tour - and that the place doesn't reek of dog! I feel comfortable knowing that Murray isn't going to come home having spent the day rolling in stuff he shouldn't be (as he LOVES to roll in stuff!), and that they really care about the hygiene of the facility. The price is totally fair, and you can get discounts through purchasing packages. They also sell some really high quality dog food, which can be difficult to find elsewhere, and at competitive prices. If I lived in North County, this would be my go-to place; since I don't, I am excited when work sends me further south, as it means that Murray gets a play date at Dogs Abound. read more

I stopped in to Dogs Abound after having seen them off the freeway. I had taken my dog to a daycare place nearby and after having him attacked and lack of good customer service, I needed a new place for him to make friends. Naturally, I was SUPER cautious as I dont want my dog getting attacked and I want to know he's in good hands. My mind was INSTANTLY at ease when I met Liz at Dogs Abound. A Certified Trainer, she works with the dogs while they are at daycare. They know their stuf, and they don't just throw your dog in a pen and forget about them. A blessing for me with my busy schedule, its hard for me to take my dog to training consistently. Liz does the training while your dog is at daycare. How did I know it was working?? Let me share: My dog Ruxin developed a stubborn pattern of not wanting to get in the car. The treats kept getting bigger and bigger until finally he just simply refused to get in unless I wrestled him inside. He had training with Liz that week, and that day he simply, jumped right in! No fuss, no questions, no begging. It was amazing! I also love that my dog can have a nice simple bath there for a great price. Having a Lab who likes to dig and get dirty is fun and sometimes, he doesnt need all the fuss of some $50 luxury spa thing. Just a good ol fashioned bath that wont cost me an arm and a leg. Im confident leaving my dog with Dogs Abound because I know they actually care. They call me to check up on him if I mention hes not feeling good, and they write thorough report cards to let me know how hes doing. Our dog, Jeter, stayed at Dog's Abound the first time in August 2015 when we moved from San Jose to San Marcos. I was looking for a boarding facility that was similar to Jeter's previous boarding in San Jose and found it with Dogs Abound!! We were new to the area; I wanted to make the transition as easy as possible for Jeter. I had checked out eight other boarding facilities before choosing Dogs Abound. Jeter is a high energy dog and I like their approach to playtime and resting time. Jeter definitely gets his stimulation and playtime, like the saying, "A tired dog is a good dog." I got my daughter 2 Pomeranian puppies for her birthday, both puppies are from the same littler and both 8 weeks old. The puppies wasn't house trained and after 3 weeks of frustrations; I had it. They are so cute, but OMG, we never know what we going to step into when we wake up in the middle of the night and in the morning. I was so desperate to get them trained. After researched and read many reviews, I decided to bring the pups and my daughter to meeting with Dogs Abounds. After spoke with Liz and Louann about the issues, they knew exactly what to do. We left the puppies with them for rest of the afternoon just so that both side can get to know each other. The following week I brought the puppies to them and on the 3rd day I was amazed how much they'd improved. They're not only house trained them, they also socialized with other dogs; Liz and Louann are amazing trainers and they care. Now, we bring the pups to dogs abound 2 - 3 times a week and I'm glad we found this place. If you have a new puppy, you should have them trained and also it's important to socialized with other dogs. 9 days of boarding...two very fussy "pet parents" who have never boarded their dogs before... We usually do "dog friendly" vacations/road trips, but this time we would be getting on a plane and we had to figure out what to do with the pups. I checked out a few different places and they were great, absolutely nothing wrong with the other places we looked into, but I felt that they were not a perfect "fit" for my dogs. We are fortunate to have many different styles of dog day care/boarding available here in San Diego and I knew the perfect place was out there. Just had to search a little more. I got a referral from a friend to go check out Dogs Abound...when she said she would board her dogs there, no hesitation, I knew that I had to check them out, as she's also a very fussy "dog mom", lol. :) After picking them up from their day care "trial" to see how they did at Dogs Abound and getting a great "report" back from Liz and Lu, and seeing that they were calm and content when I picked them up, I made the decision to board them there. We picked them up this morning. They were thrilled to see us, but calm and not as "clingy" as I thought they would be. They are home and I think they're feeling a lot like us today....tired from their "vacation", and happy to be home. They both looked great and I'm super pleased with the care they got! TL;DR = You and your dog will be happy with this company! I have two not-easy, high-energy, occasionally-devious (but totally cute as hell) Aussies with different issues (chiefly people-selectivity for one and overall reactivity for the other), and I'm cautious and generally reluctant to trust anyone else to care for them. Liz and the Dogs Abound staff have been able to work well with both of the boisterous boys and to manage their individual provclivities. The trainers know their stuff and use the positive reinforcement methods that I love and science supports, and the non-trainer staff are kind and very in tune with each dog's personality and needs. As an animal care professional myself, I specifically recognize the savvy, integrity, and commitment with which this company goes about its work. As an overprotective dog-mom and picky pet-services consumer, I deeply appreciate the obvious and genuine caring they show for the creatures entrusted to them. read more

Dogs Abound has been a lifesaver. We have been taking our golden Rusty here since he was 12 weeks, at the recommendation of our trainer. Our original intention was to socialize him at an early age and let him burn his puppy energy off while he was still going through his teething/puppy play biting phases. Now at over 8 months old, we still take him 2-3 times a week, and it has been one of the best investments we've ever made. Just saying the words "wanna go to Dogs Abound" gets his ears perked up and his tail wagging - he loves it. With 2 kids busy in school in addition to other activities, our original fear was that getting a dog would prevent us from having a life outside the house - we would forever be stuck at home making sure Rusty wouldn't get into things. Although he is an incredibly mellow dog and loves to be around us, I think it is important to keep him going to DA because he just loves playing with his doggy friends. The staff at DA is incredible. Everyone cares about every dog there, and if something might be amiss, they will let you know immediately. The hours are great for working adults (7 am - 7 pm) weekdays, and they allow your dog to be there even if they haven't been neutered past 5 months (if your dog shows any signs of behavior that would necessitate getting neutered soon, they will tell you immediately). Prices are fantastic as well (I definitely would advise getting some of the larger packages for discounted rates). All in all, DA has been amazing for us - we can take weekend trips without feeling guilty that our dog isn't having a good time or isn't being well looked after. If something pressing comes up during the week, we can drop him off without any hesitation. My only regret is that I wasn't aware that a place like DA existed years ago, or else I might have convinced my wife to let us get a dog even sooner. read more

I have been bringing my excitable little shiba inu here for about a year and a half now. He absolutely loves coming to Dogs Abound for daycare; he goes bonkers whenever I tell him that he's going to go see his friends. Dogs Abound is VERY good about pairing up dogs who have compatible play styles, which is great for safety and socialization. My dog always comes home happy & tired. My boyfriend and I travel a couple times a year and the overnight passes have been such a lifesaver. I don't have to worry about my pup as I know he's in good hands. My dog had a skin issue at one point and a strict prescription diet at another point, and Dogs Abound was happy to accommodate for both issues. They are also very quick to answer emails, and once even sent me a video of my pup because I was missing him so much while out of town. We rescued a 3-month-old cattle dog in January. He came with a lot of baggage and was a handful to work with. My trainer at the time recommended "Dogs Abound" for a good place to take the pup for socialization. The care and control of the day care environment are absolutely amazing. Liz and Lu put Ricky in a group where he could be comfortable and not fearful. They have helped Ricky to gain confidence and help with his development. The staff is caring and it shows every time we arrive. Ricky goes in happy and returns the same way. I can board him or leave him for the day with complete confidence that he will have the best care. I do a 25-minute drive to get to Dogs Abound and it is worth EVERY MILE. Great facility and Staff that really knows dogs. We were on vacation, short notice, and they watched our 13 week old English Lab. Our pride and joy came home tuckered out for the 2 days they watched her. Was very surprised to chat with the employee and found out they played fetch with her. She has a very strong retrieve and described her in detail. will be using Dogs Abound again when in the SD area!!!!!! read more

We looked at many daycare facilities in North County to find a place with people we can trust. Our 10 months old Lab mix is highly energetic and a typical "teenage" puppy. Especially for puppies, we wanted someone who understands the dogs needs and monitors throughout the day. Just running around for 8 hours wouldn't be the appropriate thing to do for me as a responsible dog owner. This being said, we met Liz with her extensive training background and experience and felt a difference instantly. The introduction on our dog's first day was done in a gentle and appropriate way and he was very happy after his first half-day experience. We decided to go with the full package and also include training with Liz while he is there. This way, he can learn while he plays and we will learn from Liz after each training session how we can continue at home along the same lines. A great solution for people who work all day. A couple words in regards to the facility: Very clean and a nice set up. There is still more to come since it is fairly new. But everything that is already in place seems to be an ideal set up. I also like that small and large dogs are separated. Doggy relief station is outside the building so responsible dog parents can make sure their doggy can at least do some business outside before meeting his/her buddies. We are pretty critical people / dog lovers and I am confident we made the right choice. I would recommend Dogs Abound to my friends. read more

My family and I were recently staying at the Residence Inn Marriott on Las Posas and we had our two Australian Shephards, Booey and Ryder, stay at Dogs Abound. We were so happy and comfortable leaving them here with this wonderful staff. They were well taken care of and always cheerful. I have two dogs and have been bringing my Australian Shepherd puppy here for daycare since she was 8 weeks old. I love that they allow young puppies to come to play with other dogs around the same age. I might also add that Im super picky when it comes to leaving my dogs with just anybody. I met Liz at a Pet Expo several months prior, before I even had my new puppy, and I could just tell she had a passion for dogs and really knew dog behavior. I trust her and the staff 100%. Piper seems to enjoy her days here, and comes home tired and relaxed. I'm also using Liz for puppy training and some private training with my older Aussie. She is a great teacher and is always willing to be available for any questions I have, and her training methods are positive and fun for the dogs. read more

I absolutely love Liz and Lou and staff! I had 2 of my Aussies boarded for 5 months with them as I waited for my house to be repaired after a hot water leak. I had one of my 3 in the hotel with the family but the 2 I had to board were very difficult and I was afraid that no one would accept them. One doesn't do well with other dogs, and the other is the boss and pulls the strings whether he is in the mix, or just on the sidelines. Neither did well in a day-care environment. My boys just couldn't get along with any other dogs except Liz' dogs. Not even another Aussie girl. Liz and Lou nursed one of my boys through an eye injury, which was a result of my introducing him to a friends dog outside of Dogs abound. She was rinsing his eye several times a day and kept me up to date via email of his progress. I was so grateful for their help and the fact that I could get in touch with them via email any time I needed to. Dogs Abound has so many services that are incredible. If your babies need food, first they email to let you know, but more importantly, they will go and get that food for you so that your dogs have what they're used to. They have bully sticks, treats, bathing at an additional cost but it's minimal. I was most amazed that when I wanted to feed raw bones-and knew my dogs would have a digestional issue, they told me to get pumpkin and yogurt and they would give it to them to help their tummies deal with it. That is awesome and above the call of duty! My boys were a howling, barking mess when I visited and as long as I came to visit early, they were still able to get my wolfie howlers to settle down for the evening. This place is FANTASTIC!!!!!! My dog heels real well unless I take him there. As soon as we get out of the car my dog pulls and pulls to get in the front door. He is beyond happy to go there. They have anything you could possibly need. They have day care, training, grooming, boarding etc...... ALL the dogs are so happy there.
