This was our second time using the Escondido location, and it confirmed that this facility is not…read moreequipped or operated to responsibly manage large or anxious dogs, despite advertising itself as a professional daycare. During our first experience in May 2024 (boarding), our dog, Chika, was labeled anxious and given a "first strike" for snapping at other dogs. We had never received this sort of feedback before and were concerned. She was placed in private care for the remainder of that stay, and no further issues occurred. Between May 2024 and December 2025, Chika attended numerous daycare facilities in social play without incident. We gave the Escondido location another opportunity on December 20, 2025. Within three hours, we received a voicemail from Daniel (manager) stating that Chika was digging at and jumping on the walls and that the Escondido facility's walls are not as sturdy as those at the Miramar location. We were also told that she would NOT be welcome back at Escondido after that day. We do not dispute Chika's behavior, but the problem was the lack of management. We are paying customers and expect staff to actively handle the situation, not simply report it and escalate to removal or ban. There was no indication that reasonable steps were taken (removal from the area, breaks, walks, or calming measures) before contacting us. Notifying the customer is appropriate and appreciated; failing to attempt resolution is not. Chika was eventually placed in a cage for the remainder of the day, which was acceptable. However, communication did not indicate that efforts were made to reduce her stress or ensure her comfort. We paid $60 per dog (two dogs; our other dog's behavior was deemed acceptable) and expected professional supervision and care. There are serious safety and operational concerns. The facility has thin, easily damaged walls, is understaffed (per the manager and owner), and staff are not consistently present in dog areas. Dogs are sometimes monitored via cameras rather than in-person supervision, according to Daniel (manager). This location also maintains a low number of dogs, which aligns with how quickly dogs are removed or banned instead of being managed. According to the daycare, Chika may react this way because calmer areas stress her and busier areas keep her mind occupied--interpret that as you will. Interactions with Daniel (manager) and Brian (owner) were unacceptable. Brian called us on December 21st, which we initially appreciated as a chance to discuss the situation. However, the conversation quickly became hostile and dismissive, with Brian stating they "could bill you for the damage, but aren't," telling me to "take some introspection," and calling me "rude" and "ridiculous for asking for a refund." He also said, "open your own daycare and manage it how you want." All phone calls with management are recorded, so there is a record of these interactions. No accommodation was offered. Had a partial refund been provided, this review would not exist! The only professional interaction was with Whitney at the front desk. We love the Miramar location, and it's disappointing that our experience at Escondido came to this. Owners of large or anxious dogs should proceed with caution. This location does not actively manage stressed dogs or work toward resolution.

Our pup gets waaaaay too excited even as we're driving up the street to drop off and he's always eager to get off the car and get to his puppy friends. It's a plus when Missy is there to welcome him! Missy is for sure one of his favorite people at Dogs Abound. Liz, Broke, Courtney and all of the Dogs Abound Team have been amazing with our pup and give this dog mum peace of mind that he's in great hands when I can't be with him. I was a…read morelittle taken aback by Courtney who seemed a big standoff-ish during the chat but decided to give the place a shot... after all, I cared more about finding trainers who treated my puppy well more than treating me well. After the first visit, employee Matt said he wasn't sure if they could board our puppy until they knew he would do well with other dogs (totally understandable) but when I mentioned I wanted to do training sessions, he and Courtney got nice quickly and signed me up for everything! I really wanted my 4-month-old puppy to get out of his shell, gain confidence and make friends so I ended up paying for a 10-pack of training sessions. I also read the Yelp reviews here so decided it would work. The training sessions included a Zoom chat with the trainer, Vivien, after four classes. When it was time for our first Zoom chat, the trainer wasn't able to connect to a computer so she called me, which was understandable (happens to all of us, right?) I asked her if she could send me videos (since we didn't get a Zoom chat) of the lessons she was teaching my puppy so I could reinforce it at home and she agreed. A few days past and I didn't get anything so I texted her. I immediately received an email from Courtney telling me not to communicate to her trainer directly. Um ok? I told her Vivien told me she would send me videos because we didn't get our Zoom chat and asked how she would address the problem. Vivien ends up sending me a very lengthy email instead. Another four training sessions pass and we get another Zoom session with Vivien, which was actually helpful! I finally learned what my puppy was learning this whole time! After our final two training sessions, we get an email stating they will now charge $3 per day to feed your dog! WHAT? As though spending hundreds of dollars for training and care isn't enough, they want to profit off feeding your dog and charge more than the food itself? I immediately notified Dogs Abound I wouldn't be returning with my pup. After I canceled, my husband told me that one time when he picked up our dog, he heard one of the employees say to a dog "you little sh*t." Yup, you read that right. An employee called a dog "YOU LITTLE SH*T") I'm all about giving people the benefit of the doubt and like I said, I'd rather have them treat my puppy well than me. However, these greedy folks obviously lack any basic customer service skills. The terrible communication and more importantly, how they treat their clients (fur and human), shows they don't care. I'm also thrown off by the Yelp reviews. Maybe the employees have some hidden biases? We just transitioned to Dogtopia and we are SO MUCH HAPPIER at the level of communication, professionalism and honest love they show the dogs --which can be viewed via Webcam. (I once asked Courtney if she could send me a photo of my puppy and she said no). I suppose this is my lesson in giving people the benefit of the doubt! Not everyone deserves it! UPDATE: My husband saw the dog picked up by the owner after the employee called him a "little sh*t," but nice effort by the owner for trying to defend the verbal abuse of dogs. Good to know she isn't ashamed of acknowledging that she herself may verbally abuse her dogs from time to time.

From the start, I was able to call a week in advance and get information, and when I realized I couldn't book online the day before, they were able to assist and get me in with no problem. Communication was top notch. On top of that, I don't board my dog often because he can be quite nervous around new people and new dogs. However, they were so reassuring the entire time. They sent me an update and a photo in the middle of the day to settle my nerves. When I went to pick him up, he was resting so comfortably next to them. I am currently considering pursuing legal action and am documenting everything related to my dog's condition and veterinary treatment. It was kinda sketch driving up to the area it wasn't clear which building to take my dog into. The buildings didn't seem clean at all. There were tons of dogs barking so much so it was almost impossible to hear what the worker was saying. They also put my dog in a crate right when I arrived. He was so scared he pooped in the crate so the lady got him out to clean it up and her and I almost bonked heads it's a tight space. He was there ALL day! I found that the lady I dropped him off with didn't communicate what kinda haircut he was getting so mid day I called to check on him and they hadn't even started yet the lady who answered the phone asked what kinda Cut we wanted. I was surprised that they made me bring him so early in the morning for an appt if they don't take him right away when I got there. When I came to pick him up he looked adorable they did a great grooming job, he even had a little bandana around his neck. He didn't have a clean smell like I would have imagined after getting a bath but it makes me wonder if they only cut and not bathed him too. Anyways, for the price and the great cut we will likely be back, but I'm not completely convinced that this will be his regular groomer yet.
