I just bought my car 3 weeks ago. 2021 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition Turbo. My salesperson is a friend and recommended Distinctive Detailing here in Lawrenceville (Pittsburgh). First of all, my car looks beautiful. The 3 star review has nothing to do with the quality of the job done. I scheduled my appointment for 9am on a Saturday morning. I showed up at 9am and the place was locked up. They had forgotten about my appointment. I had to text the owner to let him know I was there, and wait for someone to come down and take my car. I had asked for a silver interior detail, which on the website is listed as $75-$100 depending on the size and condition of the car. I drive a BMW 3 series, which is a year old and in good condition. I ended up being charged $133. When I asked the worker why the price was so much higher, he said I got "the best interior package" and that was what it cost. I followed up with the owner in an email asking for another breakdown so I could better understand the pricing and I never got a response. All in all, the interior of my car is beautiful, but either their advertised pricing is inaccurate, or I was inadvertently overcharged, and my appointment had been forgotten. read more

After driving for ten days across the country with two rather large, furry, and extremely sheddy German Shepherds, I was anxious to de-dogify our Suburu Outback. Being an expat Californian, it took me a couple of weeks to find a detailing shop. The first appt turned out to be a no-show--not me, the guy I made the appt with. Not good for business, I'd say. The second one wanted to book me for three weeks in advance, but I wasn't having it. Then I found Distinctive Detailing and it was smooth sailing. I booked online but quickly received a call regarding the dog hair situation which was, admittedly, dire. I could have built two more German Shepherds out of the hair in my car and these guys knew it was going to take a lot of muscle to get my car back into shape. It wasn't cheap for sure, but I know how difficult it is to remove dog hair, so I was in. And it was well worth it. It took the guys all day to work on my car, but I was greeted by a shining, clean-smelling, virtually fur-free Outback. I could tell how hard they worked on this one. The guys were really nice and fun to talk with, too; in fact I got some good tips on where to take my two furry friends (for walks, not for grooming), so consider me a big fan. Excellent job with actual detailing of car which is why I have them two and not one star. Owner and staff repeatedly shamed me for having a disgusting car. This is why I paid them $400 to detail it. When I called them before signing up on their website, I told them it was in rough shape and the owner told me this would be fine. I asked if they cleaned car seats (as in the kind for kids) and he said yes. So I booked it. When they saw the condition of the car and car seats on drop off they agreed to do the job. When my husband picked it up the car seats were removed but not cleaned. I called the owner who agreed they would clean them. So I made another trip over, and the staff agreed to clean them. When I went to pick them up they still smelled bad and had surface dirt. The staff person told me he hates kids and that the Carseat is disgusting. Yes, agreed, this is why I asked them to clean it and brought it to a service that could do the job. He was complaining so much that I called the owner who assured me the job would be done. When I picked it up, the car seats looked great but are missing a foam piece that goes underneath. They are insisting I didn't leave it there-which is possible and I'm going to go home and check. But, they started saying that I was screaming at them (not true). So I called the owner again and now he starts telling me how disgusting the car and car seats were and that they shouldn't have even agreed to do them, and that nowhere on his website does it say they do car seats. I told him that as a non-car person, to me, car means car seats too, and that I don't appreciate being shamed about the condition of my car. He then told me that if I brought it to any other place they would have turned me away because it was so disgusting. Guess we will find out next time. I am super picky about my car (BMW 428xi) and I have had a few less than stellar experiences at the dealer with detailing. After my dog jumped on my car I needed an exterior detail and to try to buff the scratches out. Searching online, I found Pete online and read all of his great reviews. I contacted him via phone the next day and he got me in the shop in 2 days. My car was done in a few hours, he even offered to order me an Uber ride back home. I could never have imagined my car being as cleaned as Distinctive did with my 2011 BMW. When the car was returned to me, he drove by and I did not recognize the vehicle. It was a touch darker than it was, but that is because of the four coats of cleaner, wax, clay bar they performed on my vehicle. Every inch of my car was just like the day when I purchased it. When I didn't hear back from him (my emails apparently had been going into his spam box), I decided to message him through Yelp and was able to book an appointment for this past Saturday morning. Took the car in and had it serviced while I went and ran other errands. By the time I got back to pay, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of detailing he had done with my car's interior (Gold Interior). Not only was it thoroughly clean and smelled very fresh, but if one were to look on the inside, one would think it was like a new car that came off the lot at an auto dealership.
