I have been doing business with DIscount Tire for over 15 years. Normally the service is good and sometimes even great. However, my last experience at the Wake Forest location was really bad. It is the first time I made an appointment instead of just doing a walk-in. I assumed my wait time would be much shorter. After over 90 minutes of waiting, I learned this was a false assumption. It appears they "forgot" about my car until I reminded them I had an appointment scheduled much earlier in the day. I always watch to make sure they torque to the right foot pounds when installing the tires. My car specs is for 80 ft-lbs. However, they torqued to 135 ft-libs. (I asked to see the torque wrench) When I asked why they used this setting, I was informed they mixed-up my car with another one they were working on at the same time. A lot of cars are sensitive to the torque level and a wrong level can cause rotor damage. There is a good reason why the manufacture give a spec for the setting. After i mentioned this to store management, he said nothing other than questioning me how I knew the torque was wrong. He seemed very annoyed by my complaint and then when on about his business. read more

I came here randomly while in the area to get 2 new tires. I didn't have an appointment this time. I waited about one hour and went on about my business. The service was good. They didn't try to up-sell me on anything either. The waiting area was a bit cold. There is no fluff to indulge in while you wait like you get at a dealership. This is a solid place that takes walk-ins. I was right on time because a snow storm hit a week later. read more

Top notch place. Service is quick and issues get taken care of if they arise. Had a set of four tires installed, run flats which are difficult. I went home and parked the car, not my daily driver. After a month or so, and being on the road traveling, I returned home and inspected the wheels closely. I noticed small chips on the rims of the two rear tires. I went back feeling a little sheepish as it had been awhile since the work was done. Spoke to Dre, and he took care of everything, getting a wheel repair company in to fix the wheels. Great people there. I will buy all my tires there from now on as I have in the past. Three sets of tires in the last two years. read more

I have used this location for both my cars for several years. The service has been good and reliable in the past, but management must have changed recently. I came in with an appointment today, and waited a full hour before they started working on my car. No apologies - except saying that they were busy! If you have an appointment system then you need to stick to that schedule and not add too many walk-in customers!! Will look for other options next time I need new tires. read more

I have been coming here since 2006. But, this experience happened when we were returning from a boat trip 350 miles away on the Chesapeake Bay. Before the trip, I had the trailer checked out including the tires by our mechanic and got a new spare from Discount Tire just in case. Just a short 5 miles from home on the return, we had a double blowout on one side of the boat trailer. I called Boat US trailer service and Adam helped me. He understood the problem and even went as far to tell one emergency service provider to forget it when the price of the needed extra tire went up too high. At that time, I called Ken at Discount Tire in Wake Forest. He had just closed, but told me if I bought the needed tire & rim over the phone, he'd mount it and bring it to me on the highway! I let Adam know that and he had a different Emergency crew come to change the tire - that was a good thing, too. Even if I had one tire jack, this guy needed 3 jacks to get the boat and axles high enough. Ken arrived and not only had the tire, but started to help the guy changing the tires. It was very short work from there and we were on the road -- would not have happened as quickly nor been as successful without Adam and Ken. read more

Great store, honest people, quick service, that is the good. Now for the bad. If you are expecting a rebate gift card after filling out their online form with your name, receipt number etc. you need stay on them. Save all receipts! I did just that, filled out all information and then receive an email from them two weeks later saying I needed to fax my receipt to them. I did that then they still did not approve my rebate with no reason given. I emailed again, no response, then called corporate, they said someone would call me back but didn't. I then called the rebate center again, this time got someone to answer the phone and she said she will approve it.. Now online it shows "approved" but I still have not received my rebate gift card. read more

Had a tire loosing air quickly so went to this Discount Tire location as I have been there several times and always got good service. They told me the tire needed replacing so I purchased two new ones. The price was competitive and the sevice was fast. A few weeks later one of the new tires started to lose pressure so I went back. They quickly diagnosed the problem, a defective valve core, fixed it fast at no charge and had me on my way in a short time. read more

Wifes' car had a flat tire, apparently drywall screw, but driven on, thus sidewall ruined; need new tire. Shopped tire rack, dealership, and at the end Discount Tire had best deal. The service team is fantastic-they greet you at the door-in the parking lot (if you walk normally); service is prompt, faultless, and a detailed report (verbally & in writing) is provided. After getting a tire rotation my tires still need air in them. Isn't that supposed to be checked before I get on the highway? Super annoyed.

I had a nail stuck in my tire for a few days. I went to the guys at Discount Tire. Not only did I get in and out of there in about fifteen minutes... but they removed the nail and plugged and patched the tire for FREE. The guys were super nice and very accomodating. I took a set of Porsche (I'm not rich, it's an old Porsche) wheels to this store to have old tires taken off. The rear wheels are wide and they had some trouble with the tire coming off. Unfortunately, an apparently inexperienced employee decided to use a metal pry bar against the painted face of one of these wheels and left a huge gouge in it (I was standing there watching). Manager offered to have the wheel fixed by someone he knows. I gave him my information and never heard from him. read more

Everyone is very nice and courteous. I came in for them to fix a flat, which they originally ask if it was all the way flat before I used fix a flat because they couldn't find a leak, which I said yes. Then he came back after I said that I didn't wish to replace my (2 read) tires here (mine were in bad shape, but they didnt have the tires to match the front) that when they took the flat tire off for more inspection that the inside had been in bits. I'm happy that they are fast and efficient but I can't feel like I was sold into something I really didn't want. I'm all about safety and know that they need to be replaced but this was not what I wanted. They really didn't leave me with any options. read more

Both my husband and I have brought our cars here for multiple tire-related services and we've always had a good experience. For example, my husband needed 4 new tires that were of the semi-specialty variety. This store only had 3 in stock and it's usually 4-5 days to get another from a nearby store. However, the guy we were working with knew someone at a store who had another one because their kids played baseball together. Lucky for us, the kids had a game that night and the employee working with us called the other store and asked the guy to put the tire in his car and bring it to the game. We had the 4th tire put on the next morning. It was so awesome to see someone really go the extra mile for a customer. Before I 'got to know them' I went in for a patch (nail in the tire) and was kind of expecting to be given a pitch about getting at least 1, if not 4 new tires, but thankfully that didn't happen. They just did the repair and sent me on my way. There are times when it's super busy but they're always upfront with you about how long it's going to be before they can get to you and how long the service will take. I know they take appointments and are good about sticking to them, so if you're worried about waiting, go that route. They've got a nice waiting area with some spots where you can even watch the 'action' through glass which is kinda neat. I think they've got wifi too. I know that lots of car-related places (mechanics, dealers, etc) can be really shady when dealing with women because they assume most women don't know a lot about cars and are 'easy marks'. I hate to live up to gender stereotypes, but in my case this is true and I usually depend on my husband to help me out with making decisions about these things. Discount Tire, however, is not one of those shady places. Every time I've gone in there alone they've been nothing but nice, respectful and always give me all the information and time to make a decision about what the best thing to do is - same as when my hubs is with me. They take the time to thoroughly explain the differences in the tires and warranty packages and even if you don't go with the most expensive stuff, they're cool with that and don't treat you any differently if you're getting the cheaper route. Even when I've waffled and wanted to get my husband's input before agreeing to a tire or service, they've been totally understanding, never making me feel incompetent. Overall they're friendly, informative, courteous, never pushy, and have great facilities for their customers. read more

Typically recommend discount tire to everyone however this past experience may change that. I came in and ordered a tire (no one locally carries my size) and was told it would be shipped out the same day arriving the next. I proceeded to schedule an appointment the following Monday 6 days later. When I arrived for my appointment the shop was closed causing a pretty large inconvenience for me. I came in the next day to have it switched and just asked that they bump me to the front of the line for my inconvenience. Without an issue they did however they DID NOT receive the tire I had them order a whole week prior. After I get my tire fixed it will probably be my last time using their service. read more

I had to go back SIX times to get a set (4) of tires that worked. I drive locally, short distances, so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on tires. I had them order Nankang brand tires which they ordered from CA. I had to go back 4 times because the truck was shaking, starting around 40mph. They did try to fix the problem by rebalancing; however, that didn't work. I was told I would need to upgrade. I told them they shouldn't sell tires with poor performance. I spoke to the manager on the 5th visit and he said he'd upgrade them and said I wouldn't be charged the $108 upgrade for better tires and he ordered the new set. When I had them installed, the manager was off work and I was forced to pay the upgrade amount. Each time I returned, I had to wait over an hour before they worked on my vehicle. With 8 vehicles continuously requiring tires and rotations this place has served our needs for many years. NOW each time I send our people there the location states "your tires need replacing and we will not rotate them". A new scam as many of our vehicles only have 30k on the tires--It seems that now THEY decide when they will of will not rotate the tires and when I do or do not need new ones. Sad to say I am creating a new relationship elsewhere where I can decide when we need new tires. read more

This is the second time I have had Discount Tire put tires on my truck. They have rotated them for me numerous times since they have lifetime free rotation. They have always had the best prices and if you find a tire they carry cheaper they will match the price. Their customer service is excellent. So it was time for another set after 4 years on the Pathfinders. This last time John the manager went above and beyond to help me with my purchase of my new Michelins. He was patient and friendly, answering all my questions. He beat the lowest price I found on the internet and helped with the rebates. Even the tech who came out to give me the keys was so nice and knowledgable. I was in and out in an hour. A great experience. I wouldn't buy tires anywhere else! read more

The work that was done was fine. The only problem I had was with Jacob Beebe, a sales person. After the service, they had moved my handicap plaque from my dash and when I asked where it was he copped a really crappy attitude. He said "we don't take handicap plaques" and walked away. When I pushed he did find it, shoved it at me without saying a word and walked off. Came off as a real jerk. I think customer training should be in his future. read more

I really wanted to love this place, they do appear to have a somewhat courteous staff. Unfortunately, I think they are incompetent when it comes to balancing Toyota/Lexus tires. Let me explain... I purchased 4 new Michelin LTX tires and had them balanced 3 times within the space of 1.5 months at the Wake Forest Discount Tire location. We were never able to get rid of a wheel shake issue we had at high speeds (65-75). The 3rd attempt at a balance was on the road-force machine and that didn't help either. I'll leave out the snide mechanic remarks to me about this. I suspect all the problems I had with discount tire's inability to fix my high speed vibration issue were due to how they mount the rim to the balance machine. I suggest everyone google the difference about HUB-centric vs LUG-centric balancing, especially if you own a Toyota/Lexus since therein lies the problem. I took my car over to the lexus dealership and asked them to check the balance of my tires. They saw an issue with the current balance and re-balanced my tires again. This totally fixed my issue. Why? Because they LUG-balance the tire as recommended by Toyota/Lexus. I called back discount tire and told them this. They didn't seem to care about WHY this worked. Actually, they didn't even seem to understand the difference between HUB-centric vs LUG-centric balancing. They told me that Toyota's were notorious for having balancing issue. Then they asked me to bring the car in so they can check it out (really?). Hopefully, Discount Tire can correct this issue which I find to be quite fundamental until then... I wouldn't recommend them for Toyota/Lexus vehicles read more

First time ever going today. Staff was really friendly and they fixed my tire that had a hole in it. (Another tire place said it couldn't be fixed) Discount Tire staff got me in and out in a fast pace and fixed everything for me. I was not charged at all for fixing the hole in my tire. I don't know if others had an experience like the one I had below four months ago, however I'm here today and the experience is what I'm accustomed to. First they actually opened earlier than the listed open store time. But the service was awesome! have been coming to Discount Tires for years and I have only had a couple of problems, however nothing worth noting. Today I'm little bothered by the attitude I received from a gentleman when I checked my wife's car in for a simple tire rotation. This gentleman's mood suddenly changed when I told him I had a 9am appointment for a tire rotation. I can only assume he was pissed because I wasn't spending money on this trip. Surprising considering I've spent thousands of dollars at this particular store. Then he tells me there is a 45-60 min wait for appointments which is ridiculous to me. There has never been a time when I've had an appointment and had to wait that long. This experience won't stop me from coming back, but I think Discount Tire needs to be reminded why people buy tires from them. The customer service is typically good and the amenities that come with purchasing a set of tires is unmatched. However, I have discovered that other tire companies are now offering similar deals. read more

I have been here a couple times and always had a good experience. The first time my husband took his car there he had a nail in one of his tires. They repaired the tire for free even though he had never purchased tires from him before. That made him a customer for life. Just the little things that a business can do out of kindness really go a long way and we always try to tell people about their business ethics there. That's the kind of place I want to make sure people know about and support because there aren't many of them left. They always so friendly and helpful and I trust them to do a good job with my tires. read more

Very good prices, everyone was neat, kind and polite. Now the negatives, they didn't replace my chrome valve stem covers. Factually they left them uncovered, and the amount of air pressure was so far off the vehicle was wobbling on the way home. The tires have 51psi max rating, when I got home even after the tires warmed up, one had 12psi the other 18psi! Not cool. I now run them at 41psi and all's well. read more

Installed new tires on dirtie bead so they leaked had to return to fix. they scratched my rims reinstalling the tires would have never happened if they would have installed them right the first time. They are fast because they are careless with customers cars. read more

A colleague recommended discount tire for getting new tires, and I am so thankful he told me about the chain. Prices are pretty much on par with what I have purchased elsewhere, but I have never had my car completed in less than 30 minutes. This place knows how to do it efficiently and properly. I went to Discount Tire to get a tire repaired that had a slow leak. They found that it had a nail in the tire and fixed it for free even though I did not buy the tire from them. Another place I called wanted $30 to fix the same tire. They also repaired a tractor tire for me for free. Everybody was super helpful and friendly and didn't try to sell me anything. I only waited about 15 minutes for the repair even though I didn't have an appointment. Great place! read more
