I have videos to prove... First of all, I'm a Disabled Veteran. Prior to my acupuncture, massage appointment, I contacted Discount Tire, Katy, Texas, about the need for Tire Sensor Replacement. I was given what I thought to be a good price per sensor replacement. I want to clarify, my in-dash computer showed only one bad sensor. When the guy, from behind the desk, returned after checking my vehicle, he stated two were bad. He then gave a sales pitch about the sensors going bad between 6-10 years and recommended I replace all four. See where this is heading? I told guy to only replace the two... A few minutes later, I was approached by a tech. He shares with me that he is unable to remove my lug nuts because they were swollen. Although I had never heard of this before, I had seen it advertised...right in front of my face in the showroom for all to see. He said he would have to beat them off with a hammer and have to get new ones...yep! You were right if you knew where this was headed...Oh! The new lug nuts after destroying the old swollen ones were going to cost $50 extra. I told him I wasn't going to do the replacement and I wanted a refund. Another person, from behind the counter waited on me. I told him what was going on and stated I wanted my refund. He have a few scenarios...work with me on price (no was my response), go and see for himself if he could get the lugs off ( I told him why bother a tech had already said he couldn't), then, give me the lugs free (I still said no). I told him, being new to the area, I was looking for an honest business to work with. I then added, I'm going to go home and try and take the lugs off. If I can get them off, I'm going to write the worst review possible. I came home. With my wife using her phone to video, without any effort at all, the lugs on the right rear came off. I was shocked! I then thought, he tried showing me the problem on the front wheel (told him I didn't care), so I thought, let me try the left front wheel. Again, the lugs came right off and went back on. So! What's going on at Discount Tire of Katy Texas off Katy Highway? How many extra $50 have been charged necessarily. I called the front desk back. I was assured the front desk makes no commission. He did say the General Manager does. How can $50 for lug nuts simply be done away with as proposed by the employee? Why couldn't the tech get the lug nuts off? Did he even try? Or, was this the STORY they give to all/some to see if they will take them at their now known unreliable word. For me, Discount Tire will never be part of any mechanical or maintenance plans. If you do choose to use Discount Tire of Katy, Texas, take a Disabled Veteran that's in chronic pain to get the lug nuts off. It will save you An extra $50. Update! Got a call From the Assistant Manager after my horrible experience. He apologized and date stated he wanted to fix not only my needed repair, but the situation. Today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, I returned to Discount Tire. Michael, knowing the situation, and being one of the unfortunate targets of my anger, sorry again Michael, greeted me professionally and empathetically. He once again apologized for the previous visit, and assured me he would take care of the needed repair. The repair was made. Although the first incident occurred, both Michael, and the Assistant Manager made great efforts to resolve the problem. Thanks again guys. And again, sorry for getting so angry during the first time we dealt with one another... When needed, I'll be using Discount Tire again. I have been to this location a few times, but I wanted to leave a review based off of the most recent experience I had. I went to get new wiper blades. When I took a look online, I only saw options for the front, but I definitely should've called about the back. They do carry front and back blades, so make sure to call to verify. I ended up going to the dealership for my back blade which of course cost me double. If I would've got my front and back blades from them it would've cost me around $45 before tax. They do install them for you, which is always a plus. The process is very simple and you should be in and out in under 10 minutes. Anyway, I went in on a Saturday afternoon. There were some folks waiting tor their service to be completed, but no one was in line. I was chatting with the employee about the back blades and they informed me that they do in fact have them available for around $15. I also told them about some issues that I was having with my back wiper arm. When we went outside they offered to take a look and helped me replace my back wiper arm. This was definitely some above and beyond service. I had just left the dealership where I have been consistently getting poor customer service, so it was very refreshing. I wish I would've caught their name. Is experience. Definitely put a smile on my face after a rough couple of weeks. Special thanks to you, kind stranger. These guys saved my life!!!!!! Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient even on a busy day. I took my truck in for new tires, and they discovered a huge hole in my wheel. Although wheel parts are not their specialty, they helped me figure out how to navigate the problem. They swapped a few parts around for me so I could still use my truck while I waited a few weeks for my new wheel to be shipped in. Once I had my new wheel, they put everything back together for me FOR FREE! These guys were so helpful to me. They also helped me pick excellent tires that will handle snow, and they were spot on with the BFG's they sold me. I paid $316/tire. I'm not "in the know" about tires or pricing... all I know is that the staff kept me from driving on a broken and dangerous wheel, listened to my needs, sold me the perfect tires to match my needs, were friendly and fast and went above and beyond to help me solve a very big problem. This was my first time coming to this location, but like all Discount Tire I have not had an issue with any of them. I had a flat tire but the tires were previously bought from Discount Tire. Before I came in I spoke too Juan who was very helpful. He was able to get through the history of my account. Location is clean and when you walk in you are greeted. When they service your vehicle you are sent and app that will track your car going to the bay, getting service and when complete. The were very fast, if you bought tires there and you tires is not able to repair they look over the usage of the tread and possibly discount the next tire. July 24, 2023 went into the store to replace a tire. They didn't have it in stock. They set an appointment for July 26 at 8 AM. I went into the store, I was informed that they didn't have the tire couldn't find a tire and wouldn't know when they'd be able to have the tire. I suggested, in the event, that if they knew they didn't have the tire when an appointment was set that they would call and inform me that it was not in. They neglected to do that. I will never use discount tire again. The service is horrible at the one in Katy(marketplace) I have a credit card with them that I will pay off & cut up. Every time I have an issue with my tires they never want to replace them even when I have the warrant. the whole reason I chose them in the beginning is because of a friend. She never have issues but I always do, I'm starting to think they raciest since my friend is Mexican and I'm African America. We have had the same issue and they will fix her's but deny me. I had pretty great service here! Long story condensed - I got a flat tire on the highway not far from here around 8pm on my drive from Dallas to Houston. To say the least I was upset because that drive is already miserable but then adding hours to have a tire repaired is even worse. I attempted to change my flat to the spare but the lug nuts were stripped. I had recently taken my car into a brake shop to have them looked at and they told me then that they were very hard to get off and nearly stripped - likely from people using the automated machines to remove rather than doing it by hand. The roadside assistance would only tow my car to a dealership and dealership wanted to charge me $20 per lug nut/5 per tire so $100 just to put my spare on. Discount tire graciously offered to give me the lug nuts for free and I had the dealership change to the spare and then drove to Discount Tire for my free replacement tire since I had the tire coverage. The replacement tire, etc all happened on a Saturday and they were incredibly busy but still found time for me and everyone was really helpful especially Jonathan who handled my case. I appreciate the extra effort made by this location to make another locations mistake (stripping the lug nuts) right. read more

Almost everyone there was in a jam and needed their cars and DT provided them an avenue of relief as best as business could provide I'm sure. I was asked to show my issue (screw in tire) and offered solution ( in this case I needed a new tire as the screw was too close to the edge of the wall) I was also offered a recommendation to a business that would change out a broken lug bolt. I have said it time and time again, Discount Tire is awesome, but, you have to get the right team. Well when I put on my Nitto Trail Grapplers in 295/70R18 3 years ago i had to call around because I wanted to see what the rims and tires looked like. Most stores did not want to go that extra mile and said I had to pay for everything first. They were short and just not customer friendly. But I found the I-10 store near the beltway and they were awesome and set me up. So here it is time to replace those awesome mud tires with some Nitto G2's. I called and visited 3 Discount Tire stores and got the same run around. Then I called the Katy Freeway location off Mason. Spencer simply said to come on in and he was on it. Those simple words that every customer wants to hear weather spending $15 or $1500 on something. I show up and all goes well, what I expect from a Discount Tire location takes place, customer service is great, the place is clean, everyone has a since of humor yet knows the line not to cross and even the coffee was good. Sitting at the window watching the "Tire guy" fling those big Nitto's and rims around was impressive, definitely a workout but he did a great job. I would bring the whole crew a Yeti full of beverages but I guess alcohol is frowned upon during work hours. So yes Discount Tire stores are great but just make sure you find the right team in the right location as it makes all the difference in the world. On a side note, as I sit here waiting I notice a ton of rental cars pulling in, Harvey cars I say, as we all know rental cars constantly have tire pressure issues, this place has a mobile air station out front setup, a free check type of thing. Nice to see. Also the counter staff handles every customer equally, I mean it would get real old real fast saying the same thing but they pull it off very well.
