Had a negative experience with Rene. He told me I needed new tires and was very rude when I was asking him questions about it. He dismissed one of my questions by simply saying "I can just tell because I've been doing this a long time". He looked to be in his early twenties so I'm not sure he has the experience to pull that card yet. Ok fine. I need new tires. I accepted that. However, when I started to inquire about buying tires there he was totally annoyed with me. He did not care about selling me tires at all. I asked if there was a sales person I could talk to and he said "I do sales as well but I don't make commission" and went on to say "It doesn't matter to me if you buy tires here or somewhere else". Not really sure what the point of Discount Tires is if they don't care about selling tires... Especially when they already had me in the door and ready to buy. I'm gonna take my business to one of the other dozen tire shops in the area who actually care about their customers. read more

Ordered a set of Falkens for my truck online and scheduled an install at this location. Tires were slated to arrive at the store ~3 days from date of order. Got a call from these guys the same day I placed the order, informing me that they have the very same set of tires on hand. Brian invited me to swing by ASAP so they can perform the install. I arrived at the prescribed time later that day and my install started almost immediately. Nick, who did my install, was a true professional. These guys removed my old tires, balanced and installed my new ones in less than 30 minutes. The final work was completed without any issues and my shiny new tires look sexy!!! Huge thanks to Brian and Nick! Side note: I had a flat tire one early evening a few years back and McHenry Discount Tire was the only **OPEN** tire shop that day who would even talk to me about trying to get an emergency fix. All the other shops turned my call down, citing work backlog. DT told me to come by and they can take a look. All the stalls were full when I got there, but Nick (pretty sure it was him) was able to squeeze me in on the next opening - it was a nail in my rear passenger-side tire. They took off the tire, patched it, rebalanced and set me off my way. Total price charged = $0, in exchange for my business (or a positive Yelp review) later down the road. In May ordered tires and wheels for my Corvette. When they were installing them found out they ordered wrong wheels tried to blame that on me but they looked up wrong year. Then told me they couldn't mount tires on my current wheels . They then changed their mind and mounted my tires. Now in September ordered tires for my Jeep Cherokee. Was notified they came in and made appointment to have them installed. On the way to the appointment received a phone call canceling my appointment because someone else ordered the same tires and they did before me and I was notified out of order. discount tire is the worst experience ever in my life. i begged them to fix a slow leaker on my brand-new tire. i informed discount tire i was planning a road trip. I went there twice with same problem-slow leaking tire. They told me twice the tire had been repaired- I was betrayed. Traveling 65 miles an hour, the new tire failed. Luckily , I was able to bring car to a stop. Went to store to find out who is their corporate lawyer, treated like a piece of dog crap. Avoid this place like the flu. When I walked in one employee wa s actually coaching the other on how to deal with me and even said "oh and look he's right here" not knowing I had been standing there the whole time listening. and/or moving the car. They had me bring it back. This was a 2018 Audi S5 Sportback with zero rash on the rims as I had just inspected all 4 rims and fixed damage on one of the rims they didnt manage to damage themselves. When I walked in one employee was actually coaching the other on how to deal with me and even said "oh and look he's right here" not knowing I had been standing there the whole time listening. Spent $1150 on tires and they did over $500 worth of damage. The employee I spoke with at first seemed like he was going to work with me. Even noting the black scuff marks the machine had made. But when I pointed to the deformation of the actual rim edge he back peddled not wanting to accept any responsibility. He claimed their machine wouldnt leave that kind of damage. He was feeding me a line. As I found several photos and videos on youtube describing and showing the exact type of damage shown on my rims due to improper techniques and usage of their older style equipment. This employee wanted to demonstrate the process to prove it wasnt them. To which I felt there was no point. I dont need to know that HE is trained on how to properly do the job. I was saying whoever ACTUALLY did the job made a mistake and either used a pry bar to start the tire not realizing they were going to flatten the edge of the rim or they curbed the car when moving it. Either way I will NEVER use discount tire again. Especially not the one in johnsburg IL. They simply dont have the knowledge to work on higher end cars. And it was an absolute denial of any responsibility. I am going to contact my insurance company to see if they cant get involved. I am also going to contact their corporate headquarters and complain on monday. I have ZERO ego when it comes to these things. If I damaged my own car i own up to it. As I even mentioned I had curbed a rim earlier in the week which led me to inspecting them and knowing their exact conditions. I do hope they video their employees while working. Because i will be requesting that video to ensure that all proper procedures were followed. As they didnt seem to be from what I was seeing. Im talking about YOU mr I only torque wheels down in a circular pattern. Great tires. Horribly unqualified people putting them on. As a perfect example. The employee told me that the tool that spins to remove the tire wouldnt contact the edge of the rim. And I said it could as it comes down which he said it still wouldnt damage the rim because the piece is plastic. To which I argued that at the right velocity and pressure soft materials can damage harder ones. Its aluminum after all not a steel rim. And plastic can be extremely hard. And he is like "sure with enough force".......... YEAH like maybe the amount of force required to have a machine compress and install a tire on a rim larger than the diameter of the inside of the tire? Those kinds of pressures? Amateurs. read more

I had been waiting for a discount tire to open close to me. Last Fall/Winter they open in Johnsburg. Yeah! The service it's always awesome. Anyone can pull in to get their tire pressure checked with out even getting out of the car. They do a quick inspection of your tires fill them up if needed and your good to go. A free service. There is no sale pitch, no pressure or anything. This pass weekend... I got a flat... juts blocks away from their new store. It was late and they were close but I felt comfortable leaving my car at their parking lot over night. I use their very user friendly website schedule an online for the first thing the next day. Since this is during our pandemic season, all employees were very safe wearing mask and keeping distance. The curb side service was a breeze. Unfortunately the tire was not fixable but they were able to swap to my summer set of wheels and tires. All that service at no charge. I have gotten tires from them discounts tires for the past 7 years... always exceeds my expectations. I'll be there again this fall as I need a new set of winter tires. The store it's super clean, complementary bottles of water, the staff it's knowledgeable and they always have the best price otherwise they price match. read more

Not the place to bring your vehicle in for a slow leak in your tire. They are not interested in looking at your tire, they are more interested in selling you new tires. Wouldn't look at my tire because of a nail near the outer edge plus my stair tire was too old. Understand safety but I took it somewhere else and they took the time to look at my tire and exactly fixed my tire. 30 bucks v's 200 for a new tire. read more
