Sold me an 11 yr old used tire, for $50. I attempted to put it on a rim with a wheel machine, instantly the bead just tore off, I called the owner James who at first was a stand ups guy claiming me he'd give me a new tire. Two days later I drove 30 minutes to there shop because he said he would give me a new tire, I get there he starts hassling me now telling me he wont do a even trade an he'd want more money. Have been going to American Tire in Island Lake for years. They always provide the best service. Headed over this weekend. I received practically brand new tires at an economical price. The owner had mentioned I was the last customer since it was past closing time. Shortly after three different customers walked in and he still helped them all. This place is top notch! read more

Wow. Where do I even start? I went there on Saturday because one of my tires was leaking air. Got there in the afternoon and it appeared to be closed, so I went across the street to get some coffee and figure out where to go next. Was sitting in my car when Brandon approached me and asked if I needed help at the tire shop. Heck ya I did. I thought it was awesome that he went out of his way like that to come and get me. So, checked my tires and found that one of them had a huge staple in it, hence the leak. So, Brandon gave me a couple of options, explained each one and recommended what would be the better of the two. I felt completely comfortable here. Hate to say it, but as a woman, I hate having to do stuff like this because a lot of places see a woman walk in and try to take advantage of that and upsell you a bunch of stuff that you don't need. That was so NOT the case here. Brandon was quick and friendly, patched my tire which was a huge relief because I was worried it would need to be replaced, and I was in and out in under 30 minutes. Stopped in to have a tire repaired, the owner said he was busy and to leave my name and number he would call in a couple of hours. 5 hours later I call him and was told he was still busy but could come and wait now if I wanted to. Why in the f*~k didn't I have that option 5 hours ago. This has happened more than once not only to me, but to my neighbors too. Unless you're a family or a friend forget about going here. Hire on some extra help on days you're going to be busy. Sad stupid story there. Find some place else. read more

Idk if its just that Chicago has better service then the burbs but i have yet to find a good place in island lake for anything. Stay away from this place i went there because i had a flat the owner took a look at it and said the rim was no good and i said i no its cracked so then i asked do you have a spare you can sell me he said ya sure i can sell you a donut for $30 or a full size spare for $50 i said a donut is fine spend over 40 min waiting by then i had told him if he dose not find one its fine just put the bad rim on there i don't live far so it will be fine.After all most a hr he decides to see if the air will hold when i clearly stated dont do anything to it then i say hey i have to go just put my rim back on then finnely it gets done and i ask how much i owe you he said $10 i said um ok you dident do anything dident even get me a spare becouse you couldent find one andyour charging me $10 for smoething that i allready new i said w/e i came back the next day with a differnt rim and asked if he can just swap my tire from my broken rim onto the new rim i got he said sure give me a min this time it took him 30min and charged me $20 i said cant you give me a brake considering you chrged me for doing nutting yesterday he said no i said ok thus would be the last time i come here its a shitty place with shitty ownership and way over priced if i would have gone to chicago they would have only charged me $10 for everything or charge me $10 for a spare one of the worst services in island lake stay away!!!!! read more
