We went in to see what tires they had would be good on our car and out of 4 shops in the Mchenry IL area they gave more answers and were not button lipped like the young guy at Discount Tire or overpriced like the Midas with the piss poor parking lot or faking their tires value at the Walmart! They tried again and said they are understaffed and can't even do my oil change for a couple of days from when I made a appointment. Called about a check-engine light and already had a printed diagnostic showing the exact code (P0496). Instead of just quoting the repair, the rep insisted I pay $118 for another diagnostic and wait until Friday, and talked over me like I didn't know my own car. Took it elsewhere and got the same fix for a fraction of the price -- know your codes before you call here. Some of these guys just want your money. read more

I couldn't start my car after 4 tries, and had it jumped in my condo parking lot. I took it to this Firestone, where I've been coming to for 8-9 years. (Now I live in Fox Lake but still have a professional relationship with Dave, the McHenry manager, and his staff people.) Anyway, I waited in their waiting area for about an hour. It turned out that Dave mistakenly ordered the wrong battery, for which he apologized (ultimately that only added about 10 minutes to my wait, as they did have the right one in stock). Adam also helped me and with both of their input, they found me discounts of about $20. Sweet!! Long story short (too late), I plan to keep bringing them my 2017 Versa for as long as I have it. I don't have a deep voice. He said an oil change for a car is $90. I asked him if I could cancel my appointment for tomorrow. He said I could do whatever I want. Went in for a routine oil change. A couple dashboard warning lights came on while I was leaving. Looked under the hood and oil was spilled everywhere. Pretty sure they shorted my O2 sensor. They wanted to charge me to diagnose but I just had them clean it up and wipe off the sensor. Still isn't working properly. Would not recommend. read more

Well this is a long story .......and i will tell it all so people can see this place or Bridgestone corporate could give any shits about people ... So back in June i made a online appt to have my third set of tires put on my truck at this location ...when i arrived i already found the only service advisor overwhelmed apologizing to a cust on the phone for a issue and the customer in front of me was back for a problem that came from her last service .... So i had my tires out on ...when i left i noticed a rotating scraping noise in my truck ...i didnt think nothing of it and drove back to Wisconsin ..next day i could really heat it so i called them and they advised to bring it back right away ....so i did .... When i pulled into the lot the manager on duty and tech verified they heard the noise when i pulled in and it was not making that noise when brought in.... After inspection they tell me it needes brakes which it did not need the week before becasue it was not even scraping at that time ..only after i left ....oh thats because my left rear wear sensor was smashed into the rotor according to paper work but according to thr DM this could not happen only a sheild scrapping ... I also had lifetime alignment and had 4 tires put on ...no inspected my front end so with the brakes est i get a front end repair est ..mind you this less than 200 miles later .. . So i leave ..noise is gone ..no noise at all ...but now i have lower left side brakes in rear where brakes where almost brand new 7-8 mm but now only left rear inner wore and made noise after leaving .....d I call corporate nothing for weeks ..then i email corporate nothing for weeks it takes me going on yelp to find a cust service rep to contact me ..have me send someone all my invoices ..now a month a half go by guess what i have to email again ...so now its the middle of sept and finally a so called dist mgr calls me back ..what a joke .... So all Ray Gonzalez could do is dismiss it and say it couldnt happend ....and i woukd need to waste more time after waiting 3 months to hear back from them to drive 50 miles to another shop of theirs so they could reisnpect it .. after texting him paperwork showing it was inspected by them and what will this shop be able to tell other couldnt .......nope thats it i waited 3 months to be told that the issue i had here was basically made up .. .sonif you go there ans leave with a problem ..just dont bother .....no one is a help ..its pretty obvious my truck didnt come in with that noise .. left with that noise...they looked at it noise was gone ..and now i drove on worn brakes all summer waitimg for a answer for nothing ...and my malfunctioning brakes stopped malfunctioningafter i left ..i mean if they wore out in 200 miles or less i should be through the rotors ..but im not just worn ass pads ......even funnier was being dismissed and told that nothing and he means nothing could cause that ..........i mean the tech maybe didnt hang from the brake hose ..e brake cable ? Maybe hung impact from brake hose or ebrake cable ?? I can see many diffrent ways ..maybe while working accidentally fell and grabbed brake hose or ebrake cable ....i just wanna know how noise was not there wben it came in and there when i left so my brake wore out when driving from parking spot to lift.. . Even after i told the wanna be district manager ive been a service manager for 3 major dealers and it could have happen mutiple diffrent ways .he r Treated me like im after a handout ....not needed around here me and my wife do just fine and you used to put tires on them all till now ....i guess my ASE certification does mean anything or all my awards from Ford....what a joke....lol even after your shop admitted noise was not there when i brought it in and its not ( the backing plate) i see how you people treat people and now i hope alot of other people see too ....have a nice day ... .stay away from them and corporate..... read more

Never coming to this shady place again! Came in to have tires mounted and balanced along with an alignment (bought from an outside source and not through firestone). Waited almost two freaking hours for four tires! And this place is dead when I went there. Couldn't get the alignment done due to a loose inner tie rod, went out to the shop and felt it myself, not loose in the slightest! They wanted to charge me $239 to replace it! A guy came in 20 minutes after me and wanted two tires replaced, he was in and out in 20 minutes! I will never do business with these people again! $109 is what they charged me for almost two hours of my time. read more

So, we went to Firestone in McHenry for one simple thing (a $30 dollar oil change) and suddenly we have a broken "wear" item that we were quoted 17+ HOURS of freaking LABOR to take the entire freaking engine apart and replace the entire freaking oil pan + guess what... it's also not covered under the freaking Warranty. Firestone changed our oil last and what do you know, suddenly our entire oil pan needs to be replaced since the oil pan bolt has magically been stripped and they now cannot get the screw out of the oil pan (...and, of course, there was no mention (at all) of the inexpensive kits that are readily available at any auto parts store to rethread the holes with helicoils, or the self-tapping plugs, oversized plugs, etc.... which are made specifically to repair this type of problem...). Not that I would trust them to do ANYTHING after this simple oil change has gone horribly sideways with zero accountability. Instead, Firestone personnel bellowed LOUDLY that this is a "wear item" (...apparently, for all to hear in the entire building...). They also stated that it just recently happened to someone else's Yukon there, as well (...as if this makes it somehow normal? Name 5 people that you know of that have EVER had this happen to their vehicle's oil pan ?!). This is entirely incorrect because to the best of my knowledge (and from speaking to other competent mechanics that I queried who clearly know what they are talking about... ) ...and where we now take all our vehicles to... There are only 5 ways to strip ANY bolt/nut. 1) Cross thread it (start threading bolt in angled and force it in), most likely while using an impact (torque) wrench, which should NEVER, EVER be used. 2) Over-torque (overtighten) the bolt. 3) Sized up bolt due to rust/scale, or not lubing bolt when installing (does not apply to an oil drain plug, as its already fully encased in oil). 4) Trying to install the wrong size, thread pitch bolt in hole. 5) Have absolutely no idea what you are doing. To the best of my knowledge, no bolt/nut will strip "just because"... so, no, it's not considered a wear item... (no matter how LOUDLY Firestone staff will proclaim that it is!). Bottom line, we are not made of money and we will never, ever go back to FIRESTONE again. read more

Stopped by here this am as my wife had picked up a nail in her rear tire. They said no problem, took it right in 30- 40 minutes later i walk back there and tire is off and laying against machine. I go back up front and they say they cant fix tire because even tho nail is in center of tread because it was at an angle corporate wont allow them to fix tire. I advised my wife that when she runs over nails to be sure they are at 90 degrees to the tire. read more

My husband took over one of our 5 vehicles to have have brakes his brakes on his truck repaired (they have worked on this truck and all our trucks before). The guy says he wouldn't do it. When we asked why when you have done it before he went a got his boss. Very rude people. His boss came in in a huff, didn't even say hello, and just started punching stuff in on his computer. We said thank you but by your rudeness we can tell you don't want our business. We went to North Town Auto and they gladly said they would work on the brakes. While we stood a NorthTown someone that had been waiting at Firestone while we were there came in too. I guess they chased her business away too! I guess they lost more than just our 5 vehicle's business that day!!!! read more

This is the second time I used this facility and will be the last. After a disappointing first visit the customer service contacted me and tried to fix the situation so I decided to give them another shot. I scheduled to buy two tires with installation on line. I was given a quote of price and screen shot all the info. Came in checked that quoted price was correct signed paper to have work done sat for an hour only to have Mike Robison the Manger tell me the tire size was wrong and I would have to pay significantly more. He was rude and condescending to me. Told me it was my fault I put in the wrong info for quote. I showed him the screenshot and he begrudgingly gave me a "better" price. Have been here numerous times over the years, with no problems. Employees were always very welcoming, hard working and honest. Over the past four years I have been having my car serviced at the local dealer I purchased it from. Not because of any problems with Firestone, but because I had a "Certified Warranty" with the dealer. Recently, I noticed a loud noise coming from the rear of my car. Was sure it was one or both of the wheel bearing hubs, so I couldn't keep putting it off. Dealer was closed today (Sunday), so I thought I would try Firestone again. Long story short......great experience!!! Fernando waited on me, was very professional, welcoming, and completely honest with his recommendations and pricing. The mechanic who worked on my car, Hayden, was very friendly and honest as well. I had one wheel hub assembly that needed to be replaced, and it would have been very easy for them to tell me I needed to replace both the rear assemblies, as there is really no way for me to confirm that. They were honest though, and very thorough with the repair, which is why I will definitely return here for service and repairs, and recommend them highly!! We had used Firestone multiple times in the past and used to be satisfied with the work until the last couple of times. Their service has gone down the tubes. Tuesday, my 19 yr. old daughter took her car there for an oil change, now her car is LEAKING OIL!!! They say they may have spilled some. They spilled a WHOLE bunch or didn't tighten the oil plug or filter!! They also didn't fill the windshield wiper fluid, which was empty and didn't give her sticker to remind her of when to come in next.She is back at College about 2 hours away with a car that she can't drive! Hopefully, it's not permanently damaged. NEVER AGAIN we will come here. read more

Took my truck there for new tires and was initially happy. Had a flat tire 2 days later they said it was a nail. She said from all the construction? Which is possible but I had the insurance so was not charged. Even if she was lying I didn't care at that point. I like when other tire places show you the nail. Now I'm pissed because my rims are painted and I need to repaint them because it's been a couple years and they were a little scratched. Got new tires. Sanded and 2 coats primer 2 coats black 2 coats clear. They look shiny and beautiful again. Went to check my tire pressure a week later and noticed that I still have the same messed up valve stem that I always had. You take off the cap and the treads are half missing. Now I did this years ago because there was a Crome valve cap that was ceased to the stem. I had to cut it, and screwed up the stem threads. Air leaks by when u fill with air. So I just called kinda pissed about the situation. She said she would have to take a look. If they weren't replaced she would replace them. Well I spent way to much time making my rims pretty again. Then she can refund the $2. Or 8$ for all 4 if they "forgot" to replace the rest of them. So I get to waist an hour or so for $8. Is the only solution we came to. I was reaching for a "sorry about that" at least. But that wasn't happening. It was more like your screwed thanks for doing business with us. I've been coming to this shop since it opened and, while I've experienced a problem here and there, the staff has always been willing to make it right. Mike, the current manager, is great, and he always listens and does his best to make sure things are done correctly. They even have been able to give me a ride home when possible after dropping off my vehicle. The only negative I have to say is that they frequently seem to be short handed, but that isn't the shop's fault. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

Initially recommended by Tire Rack as an installer, I have now been back about five times and always impressed with polite workers, everything just as stated and on time and they even put my old tires that I wanted to keep into plastic bags to keep my car cleaner. Very happy with the great, local service and will be back within a few weeks with another tire need. Highly recommended. Manager Mike was great. Thee also seem to have the best price in town for mounting and balancing four tires. Sad to see some of the bad reviews here. I will never go here again! This was my first time going here for an oil change and they plugged a leak in my tire in which they didn't bother to balance. The worst part was the fact that a few weeks later My oil light came on out of nowhere on a long trip. Literally there was little to no oil on the dipstick! My car has no oil leaks and I took it to a mechanic who also checked for leaks and said I had none plus the oil filter was tight.
