Everyone takes the time to explain to me what needs to be done and why, they show me what they're doing as they're doing it. I took my 08 Mustang GT to Dipstick today to be serviced and the manager saw I had loose transmission mounts. Tightened up everything for me, checked the trans fluid for free. Dip Stick in Fox Lake off Rt 12 is has a friendly and Customer Service oriented staff. I have always been treated with respect and taken care of for over 30 years now. If I have a low tire or need fluids checked I can "always" rely on the guys at Dip Stick.  They always make sure I get the best discounts available and remind me of any promotions or coupons available.  I know when I take my vehicle there, I won't come out with a repair estimate of several hundred dollars or several thousand when all I asked for was an oil change and a tire rotation.  They also use quality products and lubricants, not the cheapest oil they can purchase just to make a sale so you know exactly what you're putting in your vehicle when you purchase it. That's peace of mind without the worry  of going to a dealer or a fancy shop with all the bells and whistles you're not paying for. Don't underestimate them. I would give them a chance, and you will be pleasantly surprised. Just because they are a local small business that makes it even more of a reason to give them a chance! They  strive and work that much harder, and their home grown Made in the USA! Over 30 Years ago, they sponsored my daughters little league baseball team in Fox Lake.  I need to make it clear I'm not getting anything for writing this it was my choice because I felt it was the least I could do because today it's becoming "extremely rare" to be treated with respect anymore or even say thank you to a customer. REAL ACTUAL Customer Service seems to be something very hard to come by today, and I don't say that lightly,  if you find a business that actually cares about more than just your money, consider yourself very fortunate and I would suggest you hold on to that while you still can its extremely rare in today's world . Dip Stick has not been around over 30 years for a reason its because they truly care about servicing there customer first as there number one priority. Just one example when I asked them to check the air in my tires because I had a sensor low tire warning go off the guy even checked my emergency spare in my Jeep and it was completely out of air and he refilled it.  Who does that?  He took the extra time to make sure I was safe out there on the road when he didn't have too. This is exactly what I'm talking about. Yes it took 5 more mins and yes time is money but that 5 mins will come back 10 fold in repeat business I'm sure knowing I have the piece of mind that they truly care. That saying Every action has a Reaction!  Well, those words could not be any clearer or more self-evident. That applies in all circumstances, including how you treat your customers. Without them, your business has no foundation. I worked in customer service for over 35 years, so I do have a little insight on how to treat the customer, and I have always been impressed with the Dip Stick.  They have always treated me with respect and fairness, and you can't ask for more than that! Word of mouth is so much more than any amount of advertising that my friend you can take to the bank? Or ironically i should say you "cannot", that right there makes or brakes everything in the end. After years of wonderful service on our 4 vehicles, their service has gone down. Recently they improperly attached the bottom shield on my Explorer and it fell off. Then today they sold my 20 year old daughter a "2 point fuel system service" when she went in for an oil change. They used a scare tactic to sell it to her and charged her $150. After calling and talking to the tech, it equates to spraying a can of injection cleaner into the intake. The lack of these shady sales tactics is why we used to go there. They've lost my trust. Been coming to Dipstick for 3 years with 2 different vehicles. Always bring a coupon and never go anywhere else. My wife gave me a flyer from the mail that just came 3 days ago.. saying that if you come get an oil change before Mar 31st (it is Mar 1st today), you get a free gift. He rings up my synthetic oil change and I hand him the coupon for the free gift and he says "Oh, we don't have anything, that's an old promotion that has been going on for a long time". So no free gift, I didn't bring my 10% off coupon because I thought they would not take both a coupon and a free gift coupon. I come home and she calls the place and asks them why they are sending out ads in this week's mail that their places will not honor. The guy Ray who was on the phone was essentially an ass an ended up hanging up the phone on her. She called back to get his name and he didn't answer, because I'm sure he wanted someone else to take the call. This place did not honor the mailer coupon... didn't bother to mention the on-line coupon and then to hang up on my wife who was questioning the situation over the phone shows you the customer service this place offers. I guess they have enough business, that they think an individual customer like mw and our 2 vehicles.. and our son and his vehicle don't matter. So after 3 years of going to just Dipstick, we will be happy to take our business elsewhere, perhaps where someone might appreciate our business and not take their customers for granted. Located right off route 12 in downtown fox lake, we use this place for oil changes on the SUV. Great prices (I think around $30) and great service. They typically can take care of it while you wait, so it makes it convenient on your way passing thru to stop in. They have a cute little lobby for you to wait in with coffee and sometimes snacks! I really feel like family when I come here. They always let you know what routine maintenance is due on your vehicle ( trans, power steering, etc.) however they are not pushy about adding additional items to their sales. I was honestly so SUPER impressed by this place! Great family owned shop and they truly CARE about you! I had my two little ones with me and they have toys in the waiting room, plenty of food and drinks and tv. They only take about 5-10 minutes tops to get your oil changed - they are upfront and honest and tell you UP FRONT how much it's going to cost and make sure you are ok with everything. I have never been treated so well at an auto place before. I'm always tried to talk into having things done and these guys showed me that I needed a new air filter and I politely declined because I would buy at OReiley on my own and have husband replace and they said no problem at all and went right back to work - no pressure, no bother! They also offer free top offs so you can stop in between oil changes. Honestly the service is unsurpassed they even opened the doors for me and my children to get into our vehicle after they were done. Great, great, great Fantastic shop and highly recommend. I started using Dipstick when I moved to Lakemoor about a year ago. I have always had exceptional service. I'm a 23 year old female who doesn't know a whole lot about cars- I always get conned into buying things I don't need at these places. These guys don't do that. They get to the point- they tell me exactly what I need and that's it. It's hard to find trustworthy car places these days, but you can trust the employees at Dipstick. The receptionist is very sweet, she is attentive and welcoming. The guys working on the cars are amazing too. They treat you like a valued customer, not a nuisance. Mike has worked on my car a few times, he is very helpful. He explains things in a way I can understand them. Today I had an above average experience... They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. I was out and about running errands, and realized I had forgotten to get a new rear wiper blade (the one I previously bought had fallen off.) So, I stopped by Dipstick really quick to purchase a new one. As soon as I walked in and told them I needed a new wiper blade, Mike insisted that I pull my car in so he could put it on for me. I told them that's not necessary since I knew how to put it on. He shrugged his shoulders and said "we give the full service here!" So after some struggles finding the right size, he found one in the back for me. They came out and installed it on my car in the rain, even though they didn't have to. And when he did that, he noticed the thing was tight so he went back to get some wd40 for it. On top of all that, I still feared this one would fall off like the previous one. He told me that if it did, to come back. He explained that they would replace it for me at no cost because it is warrantied.
