B&B Auto, McHenry has been servicing my car since they opened. I've always received great service and fair pricing. But they outdid themselves the other day. The initial estimate for undercarriage work was very high because several major components were suspected to be failing. Once they fully inspected and disassembled it, they found that many of those parts were actually in good condition and didn't need replacement. The final cost was far lower than expected. Thanks Phil, Coty, and the mechanics who worked on my car. read more

Took my car to B&B today for new brakes and a once over before taking my car on a long trip. I was blown away by this place. It came highly recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. Professional and thorough. I will definitely use them again! read more

B & B might actually stand for Better & Best...just saying. Everyone, from the front desk staff to the shop crew to the owners, is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I live downtown but willingly drive an hour and a half or more just to get my car serviced at B & B because I know it will be done right the first time and at a fair price. Since my drive is long, I often end up waiting in their lobby, and I always have fun conversations with Cody, Rachael, and Phil. The B & B team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the job is done perfectly, which I truly appreciate. They really are better than the best! read more

We brought our 2012 Hyundai Tucson thinking it would be a huge repair. Thankfully it was not. They test drive several times to be sure. The battery needed to be replaced (which was replaced because under warranty 1 1/2 yrs ago, not B&B). Honest people at B&B and we are grateful for that. Thank you! read more

Good service but I thought 330 dollars for a new battery was extremely high but everything they did to the car was good

I read a review for B & B that it should stand for Better and Best - I could not agree more!! Everyone at B&B goes over and beyond with service, communication, knowledge and kindness!! I will never be able to take my vehicles or families vehicles anywhere else as long as they have the staff they do! Cody is ALWAYS following up after a vehicle leaves, answering questions over the phone and providing top tier care and communication! So thankful for B & B! read more

I've had nothing but the best service and customer care than any where else ever. They will work with you in getting just what you need to service your vehicle and have it done when they say they will. I've had 2 engine swaps and multiple front end work done and couldn't be more satisfied with any other shop.thus is the place to. Bring your car in for service and get it done right the first time.i do not bring my vehicle any where else but here. Greg read more

Our AC broke down on our weekend visit to the area. This place got us in on a Saturday and fixed the issue for minimal cost. We are now driving back home in comfort! Thank you for your prompt response and helpful service! read more

Took my son 2012 Jeep Wrangler to the shop due to engine light and sway bar replacement. Explained I we did not live close but understood that the owner has great knowledge about Jeeps and would be able to make necessary repairs. Well after 4k in repairs and 4 trips back from City to the shop the issue is still existing. I called several times and the last response was that it needs an engine or timing change replacement. If that was the case why wouldn't you have found this 2 visits ago. It was very disappointing and I've really lost faith in repair shops. Will not recommend especially if you don't live in McHenry, IL not worth the trip. read more

I was there in Mid January 2025 to have 6 sparkplugs and an ignition coil replaced. I knew this was the issue but they said they had to diagnose the issue. I was first told $300-400 by the weekday female in the shop BUT when Saturday (the day I dropped off my vehicle) rolled around I was told $609, which is astronomical! Phil did take the time to review the suggested pricing and lowered it $408. I was shocked at the initial pricing to be honest. In the end I think the price I paid was still a bit high. They spent maybe 90 minutes on my vehicle and also made sure the issue I told them it was, was in fact the issue....and it was. Not at all happy I was charged $95 to be informed that the problem with the vehicle was in fact the exact thing I said it was when I brought in the vehicle. Suffice to say, be sure to know what you should be paying because if I didn't, I would have paid $200 more than I should have. I have been bringing my cars here for repairs for several years now BUT after this it is hard to see how I can trust this shop. Takes years to build trust and one episode such as this to end that trust. After a bit of time to think about it, I have had this shop work on both our cars and they had been pretty fair and did the repairs quickly, heck the owner even gave me a ride back home on two occasions AND I don't throw away a good relationship on one bad experience so we will give them another shot if and when we may need their services. read more

B & B Auto - B&B Auto - Auto Repair Near Me - Mchenry, Illinois

I am not one to ever do a review on a company (because I'm not bored enough to do so), but I have been blown away with my experience using this place. I've been speaking with Bri as my 'go-to' for the work B & B are doing on my car. She has been DA BOMB (it's what the cool kids say) to work with! Not only did she break down what was going on with my car into layman's terms for me, but she also went out of her way to find the most affordable and accommodating way for the team to get the work done without me having to take a day off work. I have also price-shopped in the area and this place was the most affordable and, again, most accommodating people I have ever had the experience of speaking to when it comes to vehicle maintenance/upkeep. P.S. - Bri, if you're the boss, please ignore this last part... If Bri is not the boss; I want you to know that you've found yourself a stellar employee! Also, please note - I am writing this review before the work on my car has actually be completed. I'm really hoping it goes smoothly so I don't have to log back in on this thing and type out another review (totally joking, this is my first and last one I'll probably ever write until I retire). read more

Terrible service, the guy heard my voice and hung up, I called back (he had no explanation for hanging up!!!!) and then told me they were busy and couldn't schedule me for a week!!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE & may be bias!!!! STAY AWAY!!! read more

Not a fan and would suggest you stay away from this business. AC unit went out after just 3 years that they replaced. Response from representative of company was, yes they should last longer then that but warranty has expired and nothing they can do about it. Google search says AC units should last 10-15 years. Had them replace my Ac unit and bill was $772.39 of which was $458.70 for labor on a job that took less then 2 hours. Then the representative stated vehicle was due for an oil change and asked if I wanted to have that service done, I said no. Vehicle still had 2000 miles till oil change service required. They are there just for the money and not customer!!! STAY AWAY!!! read more

Good service, good people, locals hang out while car are being worked on. I will be back.

Saw the Yelp reviews and brought my 2014 Honda CR-V in for required maintenance ( B1 ) They completed work in an hour and sent me on my way at 1/2 the price of Honda dealership price. Three months later.... Still no issues. Time for regular maintenance again. I am going back for service. Good place reliable service. read more

My car was overheating one day. I filled up the coolant and thought I was fine. I checked the coolant level the next day and it was low again. The next day the service engine light came on, so I knew I had to get it checked out. I took it to the dealership where I bought it from and left it there for them to diagnose. A couple days later I get a long list of repairs that need to be done, totaling nearly $3900. I check with another repair shop I've used and they quote me $3000. I check around online and on Yelp and see that B & B has had great reviews, so I take it there. Long story short, my car is fixed, for close to $2500 and I can say that Phil, the owner of B&B is a really nice guy. He communicated well throughout the process. I even got my car back sooner than I was originally told. Thanks Phil and B&B!! read more

Been coming here for several years now. They work on my Jeep Wrangler and my dad's former Tahoe and current Cadillac Escalade. They have always been available for walk in consultations. Which unfortunately my Jeep needs. They are both professional and casual in handling customers. Which makes for successful interactions. I have witnessed them interact with many different types of people as I have waited for my car and it has reinforced why I go to them. Great customer service and great automotive repair work. read more

Let me start out by telling you that I was an automotive mechanic for several years but I don't feel like working on my cars any more. I have taken my car into B&B for work on a few occasions and I have found them to be 100% honest, reputable and very caring about their clients. I was in for some work today and they found that a repair part that was replaced a year ago was defective. They replaced the defective part and didn't charge me for part or labor even though it was technically after the warranty period was over. I have dealt with Phil and I have total respect for his business both as a customer and also as a former auto mechanic. Believe me- I know good-quality auto workmanship when I see it. read more

Our college daughter was home for fall break and had an issue with her front tire the day before she needed to head back to school which is out of state. Phil and his team jumped into action and provided our family with amazing costumer services. They were able to fit the car in for service, provide great communication and quality work during this stressful time for our family. We can say enough about this business and its team! You can trust this team to fix your car and provide honest pricing! We are B&B Costumers for life. read more

We are loyal B&B customers for 3 years now and have family that are now loyal clients as well. We can not say enough about Phil and the gang as they are excellent in terms of service and superb in terms of an honest and ethical aproach to business and customer service. They service our personal and company vehicles and it is a relief to have a trusted service provider to keep us on the road. We could turn this into a novel with many tales of extraordinary service and attention to detail but will end with one simple thought. If you have ever dreaded dealing with an auto care business our felt slighted or cheated in a past dealing elsewhere, that feeling will be a distant memory when you become a valued customer of B&B. two words describe them, honest and professional. read more

I've been using B&B for almost 3 years and when you're driving a first generation Dodge Durango, you tend to be a repeat customer. I've had several things done from suspension replacements, water pump, seized brakes, new muffler, new radiator, and engine heater installation. To sum up the experience, they use quality parts, and do quality work. I've never had to take the vehicle back for a part that was previously replaced. In the past they have occasionally forgotten to call me back, but I haven't had an issue with that in a long time so I would consider that resolved. The staff is friendly and straight forward. This shop is the only one I trust in McHenry county. Short version: Prices are fair, and the quality of service and parts are excellent. read more

Great service at a fair price. Thank you for being friendly and helpful with auto needs.

Tried them out yesterday and brought in my Mercedes C300. I asked if the cost on the Valvoline board of $59.99 was correct for a full Valvoline full synthetic oils change and was told "Yes". Then I asked when the car would be done and to please call me when ready. That was at 9:30 AM. At 3:PM I called to find out they had just got the old filter. At 4PM I picked up the car to find the cost escalated to over $99.00. When I asked who the difference she explained my car takes two extra quarts of oils and the filter needed to be ordered. "Why did you tell me $59.99 was the correct cost and why did no-one call me to say the cost changed?" That was met with..."Oh, sorry". Well, I'm sorry. Your are servicing the customer as well as the car. And it's only the most basic of service to give accurate pricing and information. OH...and the mileage sticker doesn't say Valvoline, but rather some independent oil blender. So, did I even get the Valvoline I thought I paid for? read more

****Update. 1/16/2017***** Since coming there the first time, we have never looked back. They inspected our Toyota Highlander used 2013 at no charge?!?!?!? And the other 2 cars, well: they know them by two vehicles by heart. Phil, his Pa, and brother with the rest of the B&B team have been an absolute pleasure to work with. No worries getting ripped off from this auto shop. I have taken several vehicles there and each time I had a very non-specific problem that I could have very easily been taken advantage of. First let me start by saying that I am not a family member or a friend of the family I am a Customer. Phil, Ernie and the staff are some of the finest Mechanics' I have found. This is that Auto repair shop that you're Father and Grand Father talked about a place that cares about the quality of the work and the personal relationship that a business proprietor should have with their customer. From the very first time I went to B&B about four years ago Phil has treated me and my car with the attention that makes me feel that I have been going there for decades. His honesty and dedication to making sure that the repair and only the repairs that are needed to fix the problem are done correctly and timely are outstanding. I recommend this place to anyone. read more

I brought in a used car I was thinking of buying so I could get a pre-sale inspection. They did a very thorough inspection and wrote up a list of exactly what was OK and what needed some work. I had just had my timing belt replaced and at the same time had the water replaced. This was done at another place in another state, 800 miles away. Driving back to get service done was not an option when the water pump went bad after only 3 months. Phil suggested taking it back to the other shop to live up to their warranty on the work. He could have taken it in and profitted from me without considering my needs. He discussed the options and when I said that there was no way to get it back to the other shop for repair as it was 800 miles away he agreed to work on it. Now let me say that I came to B& B on the recomendation of a friend whose opinion I trust. He said, "B&B is the place to go. I promise you they will fix it RIGHT, fast and not charge you an arm and leg. A previous place in Libertyville quoted me well over $650 to replace the pump. And they put me on a waiting list to get it fixed. At B&B I paid more than $100 less than what the other place quoted me AND despite more or less dropping in, out of the blue to drop off my car, it was back, and repaired within 24 hours. I am TOTALLY sold. These guys are honest, priced to keep me coming back and fast. I have found my auto repair shop in N. Illinois. it is worth the few extra miles for me, to get to a shop that I completely trust. read more

Good service with honest people. I go here for everything now. They really put the competition to shame

We purchased a used vehicle from a former employee that needed rear brakes. We brought it in to B&B and he gave us a very fair price and had the vehicle back to us the next day. B&B Auto is always very busy, so he must be doing a great job. People who do shoddy work don't have a booming business! I used to see the same mechanic in WI for 20 years. I would make the drive just out of loyalty, but now that I've been introduced to B&B and quite pleased with the results, I'll keep my business local from now on. read more
