In addition to a gratitude list that I have created in my blog, I just want to throw it out there…read morethat I am very thankful that I have a Dollar Tree in my neighborhood. During many of my visits I typically purchase items such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, tissue, mailing envelopes and the list goes on....... I figure why go elsewhere when you can just go to a Dollar Tree. I have even purchased snack and food items like cereal and milk, and guess what? All were just a dollar!. Anyway! I made my initial visit during the grand opening on a Saturday morning, and best believe it was crowded. There were four registers open, yet it took forever to get through that line, but I expected that because it was the grand opening. I walked into a squeaky clean store with a brand new smell to it with freshly new items stocked, but I'm sure that it will not last as the months go on. This Dollar Tree is in place where there used to be a CVS Pharmacy present, which only lasted a year! Yes, a year! Makes me wonder about the possibility of this Dollar Tree not lasting in the neighborhood, which makes me want to enjoy it while its here. It sits in an area where many questionable individuals walk the streets, so be aware of your surroundings upon entering and leaving. It is also one of the impoverished sides of town, too. But I'm sure you are aware of that by now if you are visiting. The funny thing about neighborhoods that are dominantly African American is that select individuals get stereotyped as thieves due to how they present themselves in the store, which I overheard hilarious conversations while going through the line about certain shoppers. My theory is, if you let them get away most likely they will return for more things which could possibly lead to them being caught. Pretty obvious with that customer that always visits, yet purchases nothing. If they honestly cannot afford anything that costs only a dollar then it just shows that they truly have nothing. With that being said, I will get off of my soap box! I hope this review assists you in any way. Thomas G

I give them big kudos for that because I don't know if I could have done the same. I gave this location only 2 stars because they were out of a lot items and it made the shopping experience a little meh. Nothing much else to say about this location. As always folks... Enjoy!!!

Resellers are partly to blame, but so is the company taking advantage of the community. If you haven't yet noticed the recent price increases, here's proof: the exact same Levi's dress, same size, priced one month apart. Ten dollar difference. Shame on you.

Shame on you, VDO! You can no longer call yourself a thrift store or a discount outlet. Not only…read moreare your prices absolutely shameful, but you have the gall to price stained garments above $10, $15, even $40! Five years ago, you priced dresses at $6 or below. Now, all dresses begin at 6.99, no matter the condition. You price items with original tags at just a few dollars below the original price. YOU ARE NOT TJ MAXX. I repeat: YOU ARE NOT TJ MAXX. You are a disorderly thrift store that smells like sulfur. The absolute nerve of your prices! In addition: You no longer have 50% off weekends. You swiftly got rid of 10% off Mondays. Your loyalty program requires buyers to spend $200 (!!!) in order to get back a measly $5. I can't get over the greed. You get your inventory for free! On Sundays, 3 for 1 sale, your employees begin *first thing in the morning* tossing all the sale tags into a huge bin, making it impossible to find anything for the sale. I can't get over the greed of this company. You get your inventory for free!

Nothing quite costs a dollar anymore but prices are cheaper than what you would find other places except for maybe a grocery outlet. I came here around 4pm on a Wednesday. It was quiet. They were working hard to restock the place. Most of the boxes were right at the front and in the back. The middle aisles were generally clear. It's late August and they already had Halloween items out. Some of their back wall items weren't in stock as some of those shelves were bare. They also have laundry items locked up and so you have to see an associate to get access to those items. Cashiers are up front. Don't expect the most talkative bunch. The place is a bit dingy and a bit dodgy but bright nonetheless.

The cashiers were having there own conversation and I felt like I was interrupting them. When I did get to the counter the cashier wasn't really interactive with me. Listen I wasn't trying to get her name or know about her family but I felt like in her head she was thinking "You buy and get the heck out of my line!" Now again I said I felt this way she didn't say it! They do have many household items that are cheaper than even Walmart and that is why I like Family Dollar but there aren't as many locations on my side of town. I was able to get my Christmas Tree from there for $15 dollars but it still looks like a Charlie Brown Tree, but I'm still going to make it look fabulous. I mean Hey it was $15 I wasn't expecting much. They even had some trees for $10 which is why I came to this location in the first place. I will only be back because this is the location around me so with that everyone... Enjoy!!!

This store opened a few months ago and it looks so strange from the outside -like a big warehouse that would sell industrial materials or something. I had been afraid to go in there because the neighborhood is a bit rough in them thar' parts, but it was my boyfriend's birthday and I wanted to treat him to a gift. He too is mourning the loss of his favorite store (AJ Wright) so I was hoping to give him a double bday present -the hope that he has found an equitable replacement *and* an actual gift. He acted as my bodyguard and we braved the deary, rainy elements to venture out to that part of the city. I was actually really impressed! It was very AJ-Wright-ish but actually kinda better because it wasn't all chaotic and disorganized. They actually had a bunch of cute stuff. Tons of cute T-shirts, jeans, purses and (ooooooh snap!) ladies, -I found my funky shoe place once again! -And I'm embarrassed to say I added two more pairs to my ridiculous collection! The crowd was cool too. There is a well built (and handsome!) security guard in the front and a bunch of regular old people -lots of families, diversity. I even got a compliment on the shoes I was wearing by one of the sales clerks (I made sure to credit -you guessed it -AJ Wright). It was a great experience! Cashier Tammy was very nice too and even alerted the Supervisor when I asked if there was a damaged merchandise discount (there is-10%) since the shoes in my size were a little beat up but I still liked them! Total damage? $38.93 for two pairs of shoes and a funky belt. So glad I checked it out! This could be a dangerous habit being on the way home from work and all but I'm gonna try to resist the daily temptation!! (But, of course, give in once in a while!!! LOL)
