Discount Ice is the best. You will go right using their services. I manage a team of field service reps and we qualify instruments in life science. We worked with a Cold Room Manufacture and were asked to qualify this cold room. The customer wanted us to test the temperature performance with a load in the room. Well that load consisted of 400 bags of 20# ice. 4 TONS. Ali and Team were on it and very flexible as well. I needed it delivered to Columbia, MD, and the date was etched in stone. I would be shocked if there was a place in DC to get a better deal on ice. (Gucci!) Seriously though, after calling around to a few places about ice delivery for an event, I stumbled across a random number for Discount Ice. No business website. No Yelp reviews. No evidence of existence other than the lowly number I came across on the internet. So I called and when I heard a voice on the other line I was excited, yet reluctant. The gentleman on the other line didn't answer the phone as Discount Ice. I thought I had perhaps reached a personal line, since it felt a bit casual. However, after inquiry I confirmed I had successfully reached Discount Ice. I needed 200lbs of ice delivered and asked how much that would cost. After calling one of the most popular ice delivery services in the area and finding out they now have a 800lb minimum for delivery, it was refreshing to find out that there was no minimum and no delivery charge. What was even more fantastic was that all that ice only cost me $35! Best deal in town, no doubt. With a deal so fabulous, I was extremely nervous about relying on a company that I had never heard of that had such a great deal on ice. I was scared it was too good to be true. But I took a leap of faith after Ahmad (?) promised me he would be there on time and to call him if I needed anything. As promised, he showed up on time with the ice. He was pleasant and as patient as can be at the crowded loading dock and called upon arrival. So glad I gave this business a chance. Had a very important company event last week in DC for mayor investors as well as company associates. I was already set with a different ice company to deliver us 650 pounds of ice by 8am on the day of the event, by the time it was 8:30am they called to apologize and tell me that unfortunately they would not be able to deliver my ice due to some issues from their side with the order, they refunded me the full payment but unfortunately I still needed ice for the event that was due to start at 11am. I quickly searched on Yelp for other ice options that may be able to supply me the ice last minute. I came across "Discount Ice" and spoke to Mustafa who was able to accommodate me within just a few min. Although it was very short notice I was still able to have my request fulfilled and the ice delivered to the event before 10am with still an hour left to set up before the Company event starts. Without Yelp, I would have never found out DC's best-kept party planning secret, "The Ice Man." After extensive research for ice delivery in the area, I realize there is only one or two companies that handle this niche market...and their minimum delivery is for 800 lbs which is...a lot of ice. If I was trying to ice down a hippo, maybe yes but for my needs (cocktails for 1,200 guests) I needed a company that was a little bit more flexible. There is no website and "Ice Man" (as he likes to be called) uses the phone number as both his personal and business line. I was a little bit worried even with his five star Yelp rating (including one from Tara L) but he was chatty and professional and SO happy to take my order which he priced really, really ridiculously low. I ended up paying $75 for 400 pounds of ice which he delivered on time and with a smile. This is truly a family run operation with no budget for marketing so I am more than happy to spread the word. Would have given zero. Tried to use service twice. Both time just answers the phone "Hello" 1st time quoted to be there in 1.5 hours. After 2 calls ended up being 4.5 hours from initial call. During second attempt tried calling ahead expecting another over quoted delivery. Called at noon wanting for 5pm or so, had to call him twice and got BS answers of him being here in 30 minutes. Never was, and ended up trying to deliver at 7:30pm. He was on site and got frustrated with building security and then left us high and dry.
