Do not hire this company if you live in small spaces in the city. In addition, the company went against their own word at the time of booking the appointment. Below, I have summarized the sequence of events that followed. Please also see the photos of extensive damages they caused to our unit. 1) Four units in our building in the northwest of DC had arranged for RC DUCT CLEANING to come on 23 November 2019 to clean our dryer ducts from the outside of the building.  At the time that the appointment was booked, the company agreed to clean the ducts from the outside the building. Otherwise, we wouldn't have hired the company since the space is quite tight in the city and dryers are normally stacked on top of the washers with no room to maneuver on either side. Therefore, the technicians were supposed to arrive with a long ladder. 2) Our unit was the first to start with. As soon as they arrived, the technicians told us that they were going to clean the ducts from the inside. We objected and told them that it was supposed to be cleaned from the outside since there is no room to pull the dryer and safely place it on the floor. They insisted multiple times that they had been told by the company to do it from the inside and that they did not have a long ladder. After arguing back and forth, they insured us that there must have been a misunderstanding at the time of booking the appointment because that was the only way they could clean the duct. We cautioned them about damaging the floor, the walls and the machines. They assured us that they would be careful and that there was no other way in spite of what we have been told.  3) We gave up and took their word for it. They pulled the dryer and with great difficulty placed it on the floor in front of the washer. After they finished cleaning and put the dryer back up, again with great difficulty, there were multiple damages on both washer and dryer and the door and wall frames (see the photos).  4) Immediately, we noted the damages to the technicians and we informed the next unit not to allow to clean from the inside and showed them the damages to the unit.  5) One of the technician called the company and mentioned the damages to our unit and asked for a long ladder.  6) The long ladder arrived and the ducts for the next 3 units were cleaned from the outside. Now, the technician had assured that cleaning was only to be done from the inside, but somehow after seeing the damages he changed his mind about the correct way of cleaning. 7) We paid them, but on 25 November I contacted the company, sent them the photos and notified them about what happened. The company instead quoted us a two-line fine print and said that we were supposed to itemize the damages on the invoice at the time of visit. Now, this is a sneaky way for companies like RC DUCT to get away with their responsibilities. How are we supposed to have read the fine print, especially when we were overwhelmed with what had just happened.  I have never written such an extensive review before. Do yourself a favor and do not hire this company if you live in small spaces. But more importantly, do not trust a company that tells you one thing at the time of booking the appointment and does another on the appointment day.

New dryer vent cover installed in exhaust grate.

I did the living social deal. Initially I was questioning my decision, but in the end I'm very happy with the work. Kenny came out to clean the dryer vent (duct). Everything seemed fine until the tenant complained that the dryer stopped working. The dryer vent was now completely jammed. Kenny and Demetry came out a second time and did some detective work. Kenny ran the cleaning brush while Demetry listened for the brush noise (it vibrates the duct) to determine where the duct was going. The duct was venting to a grate at the front of the house, and the grate was completely jammed. Kenny cut a hole in the grate and installed a standard vent cover, so now the dryer air can easily get out of the house. I plan to add a bird guard cage but otherwise everything is good to go. On a side note, I'm very happy we didn't have to cut into drywall to diagnose the problem. Good work, guys!

All this from the first six inches of the Drier vent!

Gave us a suggestion on the dryer vent to close it up so that a bird won't nest in it.

Makes me wonder if it's all just an attempt to upsell. Wouldn't recommend. R&M came to my house for standard HVAC maintenance visits in March and September of 2025. They seemed to be reasonably priced. I can't speak to their competence in conducting these visits because they didn't find anything wrong with the system, and it's hard to evaluate their expertise under those circumstances. During the September visit, the technician said that I should have my ducts cleaned at some point during the following year, and that the technique they used would require them to remove all of the registers in the house and probably damage the surrounding paint, requiring repainting. I have been considering moving, and I thought it would make sense to wait on the duct cleaning, since I would repaint the rooms before putting the house up for sale, and any prospective buyers would be happier with vents that had been freshly cleaned. Six months after I was told I should have a duct cleaning within a year, it was time for my spring maintenance again. I called R&M at 1:23 pm on March 26, 2026 using the number I had saved in my phone from calling them to schedule in the past and got a weird automated message before it even rang asking me to tell it who I am so it could see whether the recipient would take my call. I thought there might have been a mistake with the connection, so I hung up, checked the number, and called back about a minute later, getting the same message. I told the automated voice who I was, and waited. Then I was told the recipient wouldn't take my call but I could leave a voicemail message, which I did. I left my name and reason for my call, and told them my phone number twice. When I didn't receive a call back, I thought there might be a problem with their phones, so I looked up their email on their website, and sent an email to their listed address (info@rmaircontrol.com) at 11:42 am on March 31 saying I had left a message that wasn't returned and I wanted to schedule my spring maintenance. I got no response. I wondered if they had closed, so I checked them out on Yelp and saw that they were supposedly still in business. I sent them a message through Yelp at 4:44 pm on April 2, saying I had tried to get in touch previously by phone and email, hadn't heard back, and that I would appreciate a response. Their response at 8:40 pm on April 2, which was forwarded to an old email account associated with Yelp that I rarely use anymore, said that their estimate was $95 and "We have the week available." When I sent them a message a few days later -- HI - Thanks for getting back to me. I'm not sure what timeframe "the week" is. What is the best way to get in touch with you to talk about specific times for scheduling a maintenance visit? Thanks -- they sent a message back at 9:03 am on April 6 that said "I do have availability from next week Tuesday." My reply sent later the same day said, "Do you mean tomorrow the 7th or the following Tuesday the 14th? This is getting to be a frustrating experience. Before we move forward, will you please tell me why you didn't answer my phone call or return my phone message, didn't answer my email sent to the address on your website, and are refusing to give me contact info to have a phone conversation with you about scheduling? This is very a very different experience than in previous years." They said, "We're sorry, but every time we email you back on a response it takes you several days so we do get booked up very fast." They subsequently sent me a message on Yelp alleging that I had never before emailed or called them or used their company for services, which is untrue. I have verified payment to them and an invoice from R&M Air Control. So I sent an email to the same email address I emailed them at before (used the "reply" function) with a copy of my original email to them on March 31 and a screenshot of my cellphone log showing I had called them on March 26. Their email reply (which proves my original email was to a working account controlled by R&M) to me said only "4/14 after 2 address," which is kind of disturbingly incoherent. I'm not sure what this was supposed to mean. They have left me wondering if they are reasonably priced and initially responsive to try to get you to buy a service that costs many hundreds of dollars, only to blow you off if you don't immediately take them up on it, or if they are just extremely incompetent, disorganized, and unable to communicate in any kind of reasonable way with their clients. In either case, I don't recommend them. Can you imagine what it would be like working with them if an actual repair issue arose? I wouldn't want to. I'm frustrated because now I have to look for a new HVAC company, and prices go up the later in the season you schedule this kind of maintenance. Very disappointing.
