After looking around and comparing prices and such, I decided to order my hard top cover through discount camper shells, jimmy was very helpful and the process was smooth and easy. They showed me how to put it up, close it, etc. It's been a few months now and it's held up well, I love it so much. I definitely recommend getting your covers through them. read more

Ordered a Smartcap for my Tacoma here. Not only did they get the cap way faster than I could have (back ordered) they assembled the day before and installed on a Saturday AM. I was in and out in less than an hour. Great customer service. Super friendly staff. Would definitely recommend! read more

I found this location on google. Based on the positive reviews I came here. No joke, Jimmy makes it happen. I was in a pinch and needed my shell 3 years ago although shipping problems occurred , Jimmy worked his ash off to make it happen. He went above and beyond to get this. I see why people come here. He really does look out for the customer and wants to make them happy. His installer is a very nice guy and made sure everything worked well. I will definitely send people this way for the shells and bed covers . read more

Great customer service. Very knowable and helpful. Quality work at a price you can't beat.

Update: since the fix, the truck has been kept mainly outdoors and has travelled the country and endured really cold temps (negative eight degrees) to really hot temps (of over 100 degrees) and the snug top is STILL performing great! SInce Discount Camper Shells fixed the tonneau cover, the lock has never failed on anyone in our family again. I love, LOVE, LOVE this company and am so thankful to them! Did I mention that we didn't even know who the original sellers of the snug top was - only that it came from Long Beach? I just showed Discount Camper Shells the paper trail of my dad purchasing the tonneau cover for installation in Sacramento and repeatedly paying to get it fixed thereafter in Sacramento due to improper installation. I went to Discount Camper Shells because I saw they had high reviews, was borrowing my dad's truck, and thought I should try to bring it in for repairs while near the area. I had every intention to pay for the fix but it was the serviceman who noticed that the tonneau cover was shipped from a Long Beach company when my dad purchased the tonneau cover in Sacramento and he said that the Sacramento company installed the tonneau cover wrong and that Discount Camper Shells stands by their products and he'd rather not accept payment just in case it was their product. If it wasn't their product, it was an easy fix anyways. Grateful, I asked him to reconsider multiple times but he refused. Love, love, love this company! read more

Grace helped me out with picking my shell, I was going to buy a used one but with these prices new was the better option! They took off my old bakflip bed cover and installed the shell free of charge! The technician new what he was doing because he installed it in like 30 mins, did the brake light and everything! If you wana good deal and want it done right these guys should be your first choice! read more

Awesome place to get your truck bed cover. Came over here because I used to live in Long Beach. Jimmy was helping me with a retractable cover. I ordered a RetraxPro XR in May and the product was defective. It wouldn't closed properly. Jimmy reached out to the company and they sent a new replacement. I had it installed today and it came out great. Thank you for a great service! read more

The best camper place in SoCal! Family owned and operated which is always a great thing. Quality work and very honest! What I had an issue with mostly when calling other camper places was no appointments available! Very irritating when you need a simple fix or a product. Discount Camper Shells is a rare place that has appointments and will fine tune an issue if needed just by calling and asking ahead of time. They really care for the customer here which makes you feel at home! Definitely come here for all your needs for your camper shells or truck accessories. I'm so glad I found them! Best, TG read more

Amazing new ownership! Grace was persistent and helped me find the perfect Yakima rack and tracks I've been in search of for months. It took her two days and got me an appointment right away. Alfredo (owner) and Luis were Pros. I was thinking about installing the rack myself, but after watching them precisely measure, drill, cut, and install, I'm glad I did not. It was perfect and finished in under 45 mins. Definitely recommend to all outlanders. Great gear, great price, great service, and even better people. Thanks guys! Semper Fidelis, David. read more

I'm finally getting around to giving my FIVE STAR review for Discount Camper shells here in Long Beach, I found this place via a referral from a friend. So before heading down I called and spoke to Alan, this was in mid March. So I head down and look at a few shell models for my '18 Tacoma TRD, I already knew I wanted the Rebel style but just wanted to see what else they had to look at After looking at a few others I decided to go with my first choice which was the "REBEL" So I give my deposit and BAM all hell breaks loose with COVID-19 about one week after placing my order. Alan calls me a few weeks later to inform me there would be a delay because like most everything else affected by the COVID-19 production was limited to keep everybody safe. In the end I got a call from Alan informing me that my shell had come in. My scheduled install went very well and I'm happy with my shell. So if you're in need of a Shell and a great price and friendly service go see Alan and you won't be disappointed. Discount Camper Shell is a staple in Long Beach and there is a reason why read more

Jimmy was awesome to work with. I ordered a custom SnugTop Hi-Liner shell and got a call 6 1/2 weeks later to get it installed. They got it done in about an hour and a half and I was out of there with a smile on my face. I live in OC and even though Long Beach isn't that far, it was worth making the drive rather than go with another dealer closer to me. I highly recommend this place. read more

Lid wouldn't stay up. Called and they said, "C'mon down, no appointment needed!" Upon arrival, one customer was ahead of me. They told me 20 minutes or so, if I don't mind waiting. Almost to the minute, the installer came over (I didn't get his name, but he's been there 20+ years) and asked me to show him. He diagnosed in seconds and I drove out w/ new shocks and a lid as good as 11 years ago! Great fast service and fair prices! They have a loc in Torrance, too, if you're so inclined. read more

These guys are on it. I didn't get a camper shell from them but they took the time out to look at my brake light on my trailer which seemed to have a wiring issue. They trouble shot it and determined that the light was bad and told me if I can get on they would take care of me and install it. I'm glad they wasn't trying to upsale or rip me off. Honest dudes and easy to work with. Appreciate the help and I will support their business. read more

Discount Camper has been on this corner for decades and I know a few people who have used them in the past with great results having nothing but praise. Unfortunately either the business has changed ownership or the standards have slipped quite a way from what they used to be. I used them in August 2022 buying a used shell which I thought to be a smoking deal until I looked closer checking their work. When I checked the work they did I noticed the the gate of my truck had dents where the tail cap was pried off and the brake light assembly had been cracked. When I reached out to Discount they claimed the damage was done after I left them and sent me a grainy out of focus picture from their security camera. After giving them a chance to make good and repair the damage they still refused saying they wouldn't fix the damage and there was nothing I could do about it. If you're thinking of using Discount consider the pictures of their work and the security camera captures I have attached. read more

Let's just say I only looked at two different brands to get a camper shell for for the Tacoma. I was referred to Alan (discount camper shells)from a friend and let me tell you, it was not only a decision that saved me some money during the holidays but time as well. We had an appointment for 9am and he was ready to install the shell. Alan and his crew got me in and out within 90 minutes and I can only say that it looks amazing. It goes without saying that when you order something, shows up on time and is installed without issue you have to go ahead and write an honest review. Thanks again for the awesome up front service. Thank you Alan and your team! Happy holidays guys read more

I purchased my Retrax retractable truck cover from Discount Camper Shells just a few months ago. I went to have them look at it again because the motor seemed to be having an issue and it was making a thumping noise as well as moving slowly. When I took it in they told me it was a manufacturer issue and had something to do with the the motor. When they contacted the manufacturer they seemed to not know what the problem was but suggested that they would send a clip in order to hold the cover in place, which "might" fix the issue. But that clip was going to take over 3 weeks and in the meantime I have to deal with the broken cover that leaks every single time it rains. I requested a new cover since I have only had it for a few months and I payed $3,500 for it, which for that much it should work perfectly. I understand that it might be a manufacturing issue, however I am extremely disappointed in Discount Camper Shells for not replacing the cover or working with Retrax to find a better solution then jimmy rigging it with a clip, which also takes way to long to come in because they don't know how their own product works. - Mark D. read more

I recently purchased a new Chevrolet 2500HD. I was going to have the dealer install the electric running boards and the shell with carpet kit but thought I would shop around first. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to give them a 5-star rating! Exceptional! read more

This place used to be good. I've used them in the past for regular maintenance on my camper shell, the prices were very fair and the owner was very honest. A few months ago, I stop by to get a new seal for my camper. I noticed that ownership has changed, they charged me $150 for the service, which I thought was a bit pricey, but I figure, I needed it for my trip, so I got it done. After I came back from my trip, I started calling around to other businesses for pricing. Nowhere I spoke to was charging anywhere near that. Come to find out, they were charging me more than 3 times the price. I will not be back here. If you want to overpay for services, go here! That should be the slogan for their business. read more

Unfortunately the top hasn't held up to the quality I had expected and I've changed my rating to reflect this. The top has been leaking for some time now, the locking mechanisms from Snugtop have had to be worked on multiple times and now I can't even open the rear hatch as the locks failed while locked. The interior LED lighting fell apart, the rear sliding glass doesn't match the Tacomas sliding position (completely opposite, why!?!?) and the hydronic shocks on the rear hatch have been replaced twice in just a couple of years. The production quality of SnugTops is poor. I won't be using it on my next truck. It's unfortunate. Thought I'd found a solid top but that has not been my experience. read more

Discount Camper Shells is the best. I called around for the best price on a tonneau cover 10 years ago and they beat the competiton. Not only that but they installed it perfectly. When there was a warranty claim on my cover a few weeks ago they took it off, sent it back to the manufacturer and called me when it was ready. Alan and his crew provided excellent customer service and really took care of me. They didnt try and nickel and dime me. I would highly recommend them and SnugTop read more

Was pricing a BAKFLIP cover for my truck in November. Contacted a bunch of dealers, and these guys were not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. What got me was the number or 5 star reviews. Best camper shell shop I've ever been to. They repaired the damage to my roof rack and shell when a garage gate clipped it off at a price $400 lower than the competition. Later on, they helped me fix the issues I had with the initial installation done by another camper shell shop. They saw me on short notice and explained to me what they were doing as they went along. Wow....talk about outstanding customer service..... After numerous internet searches I was unable to locate a part I needed. I sent an email to the company asking about the part I needed. I received a reply from Alan Sims, asking how many pieces I needed. Alan didn't advise if he located the part or even if they had it in stock....I thought he was asking how many I needed to see if it was worth his time looking for the part. After a week getting Alan's email I was surprise to see in my mailbox not just one piece but 3 pieces for my snug top. I wanted to go one step further and let everyone know that Alan truly went beyond the call of customer service. Thank you ALAN...... read more
