His prices were fair and he answered all of my questions. I love how honest he is and how he called me to provide updates. He didn't have a part in store for my oil change and called me to provide me with the option to go elsewhere or wait until he could get a new part. I decided to wait because I trusted him. I had a service B performed on my Mercedes and asked that he also check my entire car to see if there was anything else that needed to be repaired. He later called me, found that my rear breaks were worn and provided me with a quote of the cost and I asked if he could replace them. On the day I picked up my car, Jerry was very friendly and took time to explain everything to me and even helped me replace my car license plates and put on my registration sticker. Was told they fixed what my son said was wrong and admitted they did not read the codes showing on the dash OR test drive the vehicle when done. Sent me to a specialist for a 2nd opinion who said a mechanic should have known the repair was not going to fix the issue based on the codes. Shared specialist findings with Jeff, the owner of Independence, who immediately went on the defensive. Disagreed with specialist's findings, denied knowledge of conversations we had with his manager about issues with the truck and scheduling the repair, made excuses for why they did not properly diagnose the main issue and share this info with us. Acted like my son and I were the mechanics, and they just blindly followed the single note on the drop off envelope and ignored all conversations. Additional note... when the Manager called with the price quote they found "additional" work on a ball joint they recommended. We said to told them not to repair the ball joint and they responded that they'll just go ahead with repairing the transmission. The day we picked up the truck the transmission was still not working, engine codes still on. Owner refuses to refund or discount any of the repairs they did that per the specialist should not have been done.

Calling people all over Roc and in the more rural areas, everyone either had no clue as to what was going on and was trying to sell me stuff, or they did not even want to take a look. Talking with the guy on the phone, he was immediately concerned about my situation and car and had me drop by so he could take a look. He did not have to, but he gave his time to take a OBD2 reading of my car and a visual inspection of it. He let me know the info I was given was false. Although, he did not have time to do a repair, he also advised that I should watch out for scamming mechanics and if I ever need a second opinion, to call him. He was super concerned and did not want to see me get taken advantage of by other mechanics and their shops. People like this don't exist in NY and it's amazing to see an honest person provide input and support!

So I brought my car to bob Hastings collision since they have a geico agent inside. Very convenient. They do the repairs on my car takes 2 weeks which is fine I understand how busy shops can get. I pick up my car from the shop, front end looks great, drive it home. Literally on my way home from the shop pulling into my driveway part of the coil of my strut fly's off the car and I hear the metal hit the ground. I immediately call the shop and inform them of what happened and they request I bring it back in for them to look at. So that brings us to today I drive my car back to the shop, the only place I've driven since the accident. Show them what fell off. The shop claims they did not touch any of the suspension so it's not something they did. The geico agent comes out and tells me this is not related to the crash that I was in. "It was just bad timing" So you are telling me that a piece of my car fell off right after the repairs from the accident I was in. And this has 0 to do with the accident and I would have to repair the struts not through insurance. What really happened is the geico agent didn't even bother seeing if the damage affected the suspension and the shop never repaired it so since both missed it it's on me. I will never go back to this shop and I hope that none of you do either it's a complete scam. 0 stars
